Drags Rising
Image

In recent times, a new recreational activity has come upon the people of Yahel. Drag racing. Looking around, you can see anything from poor hoodlums racing junker cars to rich oil barons racing the newest top of the line supercars on the market. With this rise in the new activity, has come a rise in something else. Gamblers. Looking at almost any race, you can see dozens of bets taking place. Anything from the competitors playing for keeps, or an audience betting pool looking to make a quick pocket of change. This trend has caused Yahel to organize and create an official league for these drag racers. Crews are being brought in to represent their home cities in the brand new NDLR (National Drag Racing Leauge).

Cryptids? In this economy?

Bigfoot is a well-known myth from the west that describes a large hairy beast man that roams the woods, just out of sight of the human eye. There are dozens of these types of creatures like skinwalkers and wendigos, but it seems that the elusive sasquatch has come to the Yaheli public eye over a small event. Media flocked around a man claiming that he spotted this "Bigfoot" in Israel. When authorities investigated this matter, the myth was debunked, turning out to just be an illegal Turkish immigrant. Despite this, these creatures, "Cryptids" have become quite the popular topic among pop culture. Going into small bookstores, you can find pieces such as "The Sand Serpent of Oman" and "The Ever Watching Eye". It seems that the nation has become somewhat infatuated with the supernatural.

One small signature, one giant leap for European Space Exploration

The EC announces the formation of the European Space Agency
In a move that will surely go down in the annals of History, the Heads of State of the nations of the European Community issued a joint statement, officially declaring the creation of the ESA. After extended debates regarding the agencies budget and other minor details, the EC has finally come to an agreement and voted in favor of the adoption of EC Resolution #1975, which officially formed the ESA. The project aims to unify the space capabilities of the EC, and form one united block to optimize and improve the EC's research capabilities.

Vienna diet continues to be delayed
While many hoped for a relatively quick end to the Landersvich/EC crisis, no end is in sight. The Vienna diet, which was meant to be held more than a month ago, is yet to be scheduled and the governments of the respective contenders seem to be unwilling to talk. Only time will tell if the conflict will fizzle out, or if an escalation is indeed imminent.

Konigwagen reports record sales
Co-inciding with a rise in global prosperity, many newly-made millionaires have taken a liking for Konigwagen vehicles. The car manufacturers Maybach brand has seen record high sales, and its assembly plant near Munich is poised to double in size, adding a further 5,000 jobs. The car makers many subsidiaries have also seen a large increase in sales, with the company's cheap car line-up, sold under the BYD brand, having seen a significant increase in the number of sales, mostly in LEDC's.

Hulm wins an expected victory in the MILF cup
The national team won a safe victory against the Texan football team in the MILF football competition, winning 4-0 with their High-School competitors. While the Texans did everything they could, they simply did not stand a chance against the organization and skill of De Fußballnationalmannschaft. The team is scheduled to play its next match soon, and one can only hope the next match will end in a result just as favorable.

Corruption in Constantinople
Sultan Atajak pledges to fight political illness in Oghuz

Image
Sultan Atajak making his speech
CONSTANTINOPLE, OGHUZ - The past few years for Oghuz has been knee-deep full of economic events and changes. These events, however, have seemed to spawn a new problem within the affairs of Oghuz - Corruption.

After the sale of the Bosporus to our friends in Pavlovsk, 2 deputies in the economic department were charged with corruption on basis of attempting to sell several ports south of Constantinople to Pavlovski government officials for money that would mostly go into their pockets. The 2 were convicted, however Oghuz has not seen the end of such problems. Following several more charges on multiple government officials in the prior weeks, the Sultan has made an announcement addressing all of these issues.

Sultan Atajak was quoted saying things to ease the masses such as "Corruption is a plague in Oghuz, and just like any plague we will find a cure." Several promises have been made regarding fixing the issues. When asked why the Sultan was so open on these kinds of topics he said that "It's the right of those who live in Oghuz to know what happens in Oghuz."

Local hippie and self-proclaimed diplomat Hevlar Doylys was quoted saying "Just give them weed to fix their problems."

This was Erhan Katırcı reporting for Oghazetta.

Governor Tejador, Queen Mary, and Anti-Aircraft systems

Governor Tejador, the first governor elected by the people for the Islands, has called for a joint meeting between President Cortez, Queen Mary, and herself. The Governor of the Islands has stated her goal from day one of being elected to office was to fight for the Islands to become a recognized district of Alicia. The Governor has also called for a referendum to see if the majority of the Islanders agree with her stance. President Cortez stated after April 20th when the vote is held and results are shown she will set the meeting up. Current polls show the majority voting yes for district-ship only leading by a few points.

Queen Mary's pregnancy has been going smoothing according to the Royal palace. The palace did announce the Queen and Mr.McCarthy would not know the gender of the royal baby until the baby is born. The palace placed two ballot boxes in the royal gift shop where names and gender guesses can be made with the purchase of any item. So far about 55% think the baby is a boy while 45% think the baby is a girl.
The Queen has also been meeting with few senators sparking speculation the queen may apply for powers at a later date. Some powers political experts think the Queen may apply for are budget approval powers, appointee powers, or even control over the navy. Naval control remained in the monarchs control until just a few months before Mary's coronation.

The Kingdom of Hulm has agreed to share all anti-aircraft technology with Alicia bringing Alicia's capability's up to par with Europe. President Cortez stated the move was to secure security for Europe and the EC as a whole.
TOP SECRET
-Hulm and Alicia have partnered up in joint Euroweapons research for EC weaponry.

Novoye airs controversial new TV show
      Image
      Actor Dyvna Carskoyvsky impersonating Gorbachad

Last Saturday a new start-up comedy show, "Vchera Seychas", was aired on the Mozdov owned channel network 'Novoye'. The show is the first comedy show to be aired by the Novoye channel network, and it seems evident that the network has high hopes for the show: it aired on the network's top channel, Novoye-1, and occupied a prime-time spot at 19:00PM in UTC+3. Being on the top channel of the top network, Vchera Seychas was viewed by millions of Pavlovskis across the entire nation.

The show has been described as a 'one-of-a-kind sketch comedy' show, as it is filmed and aired live and in front of an audience. The first airing of the show began with a short monologue from it's executive producer, Vladimir Oleyostein, who made jokes about the process of pitching and getting the show on air. Oleyostein also took a brief moment to thank the Novoye network and the crew working on the show. Following the monologue, sets were quickly set up and actors acted out comedic sketches.

One such sketch had actor Dyvna Carskoyvsky dressed up like General Secretary Gorbachad, and giving a satirical TV address to the nation. Carskoyvsky made jokes about the General Secretary's Perestroika initiative, the way he speaks, and about the inefficiency of the National People's Congress. Multiple NPC members, along with various political activists for traditionalist and conservative groups, have condemned Carskoyvsky's portrayal of the General Secretary, and some have even called for the show to be cancelled. Notably, the General Secretary has not made a comment on the debate surrounding the program. This controversy is a first within Pavlovsk: few TV programs (none of which on a mainstream channel) have ever made negative or comedic commentary on Pavlovski politics, even with political speech laws becoming vastly more lax within the past decade. It seems that the massive pushback against the daring show has created the opportunity for the more Pavlovski people to discuss social issues, rather than just in small opinion pieces within culture magazines such as this one.

      Oil theft surges in Yahel
      Image

Starting last month, Yaheli tax and trade authorities have reported a massive increase in reported theft of oil and oil company property. Companies such as Yaheli Oil, Frahual Inc., Z-Tech, Gazprom, and Riyadh Gas Co. have stated their discontent with the situation. Yaheli Oil and Gazprom have even demanded that the Yaheli government take action or face possible closures of refining sites in the south due to the steep decline in revenue.

The theft takes place in a manner of ways, including small-scale theft and illegal local refining, large-scale illegal bunkering in the field, theft at export terminals, theft from fuel trucks, and piracy and oil tanker hijackings. The majority of thefts are by piracy at export areas, particularly in southern Yahel, and siphoning of pipelines. Local police in the towns of Jazan and Aden have stated that the majority of apprehended oil thieves are Mbali immigrants, however, no correlation has been proven. If the Yaheli government does not take action soon, it seems evident that a backlash will be felt in the nation's pockets.

Snuffing Out Crime
Image

Following reports of steadily rising oil theft within Yahel, many changes have quickly come into play. With the oil sector still maintaining much power over the workers council, this is to be expected. "We cannot have such villainy running ramped among our streets. Yahel is a place of acceptance and virtue, not one of filth and crime." - Jarard Harmard, Yaheli Oil. A bill of actions has been released to the public explaining the expected root of each problem and the governments enacted solution.

- Small-scale theft and illegal local refining
The expected cause of this problem is within the corporations themselves. The most obvious suspects to these petty crimes are workers within the drilling operations. Our hypothesis is that workers feel underpaid so they must steal to make ends meet. We would suggest a fairer wage, but the only thing that we believe the government should provide is tax rebates on upgrading security systems. a 15% rebate will be provided on all purchases for updating the security systems of these sights.

- Large-scale illegal bunkering in the field
Bandits and scavengers. The theorized root of this problem is rampant unemployment in Yahel. Even with the nations mass modernization and industrialization, the sheer amount of citizens entering the nation annually still leaves for quite the unemployed population. The military is sending out a new wave of ads stating the benefits of enlisting such as on-site housing and provided basic necessities. In addition, small business loans are being handed out to stimulate the economy and allow for a better launching platform for new companies.

- Theft at export terminals and theft from fuel trucks
The solution to this problem is similar to the first. The expected culprits of these types of events are gangs. Organized crime hasn't been a huge problem within Yahel, but due to the rapidly expanding economy, we suspect that groups have targeted us for our welcoming and non-threatening environment. An expansion for law enforcement is required. This will also somewhat feed into our second solution by opening up thousands of new jobs for those unemployed. These new men will be tasked with rooting out organized crime groups and putting them down.

- Piracy and oil tanker hijackings
We cannot make an informed guess about the culprits of these crimes. We simply don't have enough information about whether these pirates are domestic or foreign. What we do know is that Yahel has a decent sized navy that spends the majority of its time simply remaining idle and maintained. Patrol boats and the such will be up for rental to protect freighters while they travel to their destination.

- Military Expansion
Due to the problems and solutions listed above, the military budget will need to be reworked. With an expected fluctuation in Yahel's military manpower and naval requirements, the nations military budget will be bumped up to 12% of the budget. The nation will be looking to others for more ships to integrate into the navy as well.

- Privatized Protection
Seeing the rising need for armed protection and security measures, SMS has opened its self up to a new lucrative market to thrive in. "People need jobs, people need people with guns to protect them. This is a very simple 1+1 solution. SMS has begun hiring men to form the SMSMI, the "MI" standing for "mercenary initiative". We will keep corporations updated on our numbers and prices for any future endeavours." - Jason Shrout, SMS CEO. Already it seems that the new program has successfully recruited 1000 men oddly following its stated creation, two months before the oil thievery was announced.
Whoops. Ehhehheh !! Didn't know this was on.... Eugh heugh FUUUCCK. What's poppiiIING-uh AAUUGHHH-EUGH, huhuh. Crime has no Place in Oghuz
Image

Several reports of oil theft have been issued from the Yaheli government that threaten oil trade leaving the Middle East. Seeing as Several regions in Oghuz have Significant amounts of Oil, the Sultan has made a statement vowing to fight these pirates, adding more promises from the Sultan to the already long list. The following measures will be instituted in order to combat this issue:

- Patrols near Cyprus
Most bandits export oil through Naval means. Thus, several patrols will be employed around the Cyprus area. Any ships not approved by any official Government will be boarded and questioned. If any fight occurs the navy stationed in Cyprus will be mobilised and taken to the location of conflicts. With the sale of the Bosporus more attention can be paid towards southern areas, as Constantinople is now patrolled by Pavlovski ships.

- Subsidised Employment Security
Experienced criminals can be dettered by employing better methods of background checks. As of June, the Employment of Personnel Intelligency Check (E.P.I.C.) database will keep records of citizens throughout Oghuz. The Database can be accessed by any business by paying a monthly fee for access. By having access to this database, employers have the right to deny any citizen employment until registered in the database, which can be done by visiting most government offices.

- Increased Immigration Protection Protocols
One of the biggest factors that play into this problem is criminals entering Oghuz posing as refugees and Immigrants. Controls can be tightened by requiring background information from the country arriving from, some of these problems can be avoided. Immigrants and refugees will now be added to the EPIC database upon entrance.

Second and Third Mir modules launched
      Image
      The Zvezda module being launched

Since the beginning of May, Interkosmos has launched two modules of the Mir space station: the Liánhé Module, or Node 1, was successfully launched from Baikonur on May 1st, and successfully docked with the Tsiolkovsky module on May 12th. The Liánhé Module was made in a joint effort between Interkosmos teams from Songjiang and Pavlovsk, and is the first connecting module which has six ports to allow future modules to dock.

The module which was launched on the 17th and docked with the Tsiolkovsky module yesterday, named the Zvezda module, is a 'service module'. The module provides life support systems for the station, a galley for food preparations, hygiene facilities, exercise equipment, and sleeping quarters for up to six cosmonauts. The module was launched with a Proton-K rocket which had three cosmonauts (Yuri Mayakovich, Gulnaz Baltabekova, Umid Makhmud) who spent six hours on board to prep the new module for future long-term occupants.

The Zvezda module included advertisements on-board, most interestingly the Proton-K rocket which it launched with was emblazoned with the Pizza Hut logo (see right). The galley within Zvezda also includes refreshments from Pepsi.

HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL- FOR INTENDED RECIPIENT ONLY- DO NOT DISCLOSE OR REPRODUCE
Image
Official Letter From the Yangaean Capital

To the members of GLASCOM,

The Yangaean government would like to request admittance into GLASCOM. We see this international community as a source of protection, diplomatic relationships, and the furthering of our national posterity.
Our request is part of a multi step national plan, which is surely worth disclosing. Yangaea is a country of peace, and our massive military spending is not reflective of this. Contingent on our admittance to GLASCOM, we will be redistributing this spending into more worthwhile ventures. The current proposal involves a 80-90% reduction in our military budget, with most of the funds reapportioned to domestic community development as well as international aid. Our Yangaean nation hopes, with the help and protection of GLASCOM, to establish ourselves as an international recluse of political freedom and asylum.
Given the aforementioned budget changes, Yangaea will not be able to provide much in terms of military assistance to others. This being said, our admittance will still prove to be mutually prosperous. Yangaea is a budding economy, and the ongoing MILF World Cup (alongside the entertainment ventures of KiwiVision and the technological industry of corporations like GreenWay Inc.) has brought billions of dollars into our economy. Given this, Yangaea is prepared to offer these benefits to the members of GLASCOM, contingent on our admittance: first priority in cases of international aid; complete access to our islands and facilities for discussion of political affairs; and 10% of all corporate income tax revenues, reapportioned equally to the members of GLASCOM.

Signed,
Arikiwi, International representative
Jackson Adams, Chief of South Island
Caroline Scott, Chieftess of North Island

Royal Baby,congressional proceedings, and MILF

Queen Mary is now 6 months pregnant with the royal baby and has now released possible names for if the baby is a girl or if the baby is a boy. The first two boy names which are more traditional for a Spanish heir are Juan and Felipe. The third which most people assume are from the child's fathers side is Eric after Mr.McCarthy's brother, the President of the American Federation. The three girl names released are Elena, Sofia, and oddly enough Alba. The queen announced she chose Alba as a contender for the name after seeing it appear multiple times in the ballot box in the palace gift shop.

Senator Henry Bowman, the majority leader, has motioned for 3000 troops be stationed on the border with the French states. He stated his reasons were the region still isn't stable enough for him to feel comfortable enough to leave the few that are on the border. President Cortez stated she would veto any motion to add troops to that border that made it to her desk. She said it would only provoke the French states seeing as they are no threat to Alicia.
Governor Tejador of the the Caribbean has been meeting with members of the high court. Earlier last year the court postponed a vote to vote on district-ship for the Caribbean. Tejador's main campaign promise was to make the Caribbean the 8th district. Her approval rating has stayed strong since her election as the economy of the Caribbean keeps growing. Tejador stated during a conference earlier in the week she planned on meeting with President Cortez to talk about more funding to develop the Caribbean. When asked if she would make a bid for the Presidency in the 1996 election she refused to answer. Current polls show her pulling around 8% if the election were held today.

The Alician Futbol team has won their first round of the MILF cup. Experts say although the odds are off Alicia could go all the way. Bair Jolsanaro, the official clothing of the sport, has seen a huge spike in sells for jerseys and luxury sports equipment.

Confidential: Proposition to Chairman Chadstrong

Chairman Chadstrong,

A couple of months ago, Niagara spoke of co-operation to curb Santa Rosan influence in the Caribbean and Central America. I believe I have a proposition that benefits the both of our nations.

Niagara will assist the Federation in pressuring Santa Rosa into removing the absurd Panama Canal charges, as well as releasing their former Barnetian territories into North Barnetia or an entirely new state. In return, Niagara and the Federation will continue to enjoy a relative prosperity via trade and mutually assured non-aggression, as well as the potential for Niagaran ships to use Federation Caribbean Island Ports, under negotiation of course.

I hope you consider my offer. I look forward to continuing prosperity.

Kind Regards,
Eric James McCarthy

President-elect Terence Cola forges alliance with congressional Communists and Socialists
The new Popular Front will push the president-elect's agenda through Congress

Image
Terence Cola, Senator Guillermo Clintón (PCSR, Isaías) and Assemblyman Dedo Morales (MAS, Tanaj)
SANTA ROSA - Following the sweeping victory for the three major leftist parties in Santa Rosa in months prior, the President-elect Terence Cola (of the Social Democratic Party) has made no hesitation to reach out among the newly elected Senators and National Assemblymen to forge a political alliance.

Over the past few weeks, Cola and his fellow PSD leaders had several meetings with high-ranking members of the Communist Party of Santa Rosa (PCSR) and the Movement towards Socialism (MAS) to create the "Popular Front," which would essentially be a unified alliance of the three parties. The Popular Front will control 165 of the 213 seats in the National Assembly and 29 of the 42 seats in the Senate, giving the bloc a super-majority to govern.

Many critics from the right, especially the Liberal Republican Party, which suffered a loss worse than the 1990 election post-impeachment of President Romero, have spoken out against the move. Party leader Antonio Lardesi accused Cola of making a "deal with the devil."

"The Social Democrats can no longer claim to be moderate common-sense center-leftists," Lardesi stated in a TV interview. "They are working with self-declared communists and proud of it, too."

Terence Cola responded to the backlash by pointing to the bloc's electoral success.

"The people of this country voted overwhelmingly one way more than the other," he said. "We are simply fulfilling the demands of the voting public."

As a part of the agreement, about half of Cola's cabinet appointees will be from the PCSR and MAS.

First Round Complete, What To Expect in Next Round

July 27, 1994

Hong Kong Upsets Santa Rosa ◎ Yangaea Wins Nail-biter ◎ Preview of Upcoming Matches

Elite Eight

Image

Eight nations remain after a riveting round of 16.

Hong Kong Upsets Santa Rosa 4-2 After Extra Time

Going into the tournament, Santa Rosa had the third highest chance of winning the entire competition. Hong Kong, on the other hand, had the thirteenth highest chance. This disparity obviously did not take any affect on the confidence of Hong Kong's team, who managed to pull off the most impressive performance so far in this tournament. Santa Rosa never even managed to take a lead, and after an equalizer in the 60th minute took the game to extra time, they conceded 2 fatal goals. Santa Rosa will go home early. Bet Makers reports that 65,360 bettors lost $956,760 due to Santa Rosa's loss. In contrast, only 261 spectators bet on Hong Kong.
Hong Kong will play Yahel next round in Auckland Arena.

Yangaea Beats Regional Rivals Sentola in Penalties

Yangaea may have the home field advantage, but their roster is not exceptional. However, they still managed an upset over Sentola in Xate. The game seemed to last forever, and both teams played incredibly well. It was tied 1-1 after the first 90 minutes, and each team scored a goal in extra time to push the game into a penalty shootout. The keepers faired exceptionally well, with both keepers making 4 saves. In the end, Ki Brown, the 19 year old phenom from North Island, smashed a beautiful shot into the back of the net in sudden death, taking the win for Yangaea.
Yangaea will play Asteria next round in Auckland Arena

Upcoming Matches: Projections and Notable Matchups
Expert ratings and projections are provided by the Yangaean Associated Athletic Press
Note: 3 point increase for teams that won an upset last round

The closest game for this next round will be Hong Kong (56) and Yahel (56). Both teams have momentum on their side after winning upsets, and they are evenly rated on paper. The biggest mismatch is Hulm (80) and Pavlovsk (58), but this could still be anyone's game.

Here are all of the upcoming team matchups, as well as their team ratings and venues:
Hulm (80) v. Pavlovsk (58): Christchurch Memorial Stadium
Asteria (73) v. Yangaea (56): Auckland Arena
Hong Kong (56) v. Yahel (56): Auckland Arena
Alicia (65) v. Songjiang (62): Christchurch Memorial Stadium

The shooter's roll will be d100. If the roll is higher than the opposing teams skill level, the ball goes in.

A Moving Future
Image

Since the introduction of the new and improved anti-piracy measures, Oghuz has seen a slow but steady decline of pirates within territorial waters as a result of well equipped patrol and naval forces. The estimated loss in revenue from pirates is estimated to drop by at least 40% by the end of 1994. Sceptics, criticise the the program for its high cost, currently causing a negative return for the government budget, however most can agree it gives a much better investment climate and is worth its price. Better yet, the Naval equipment can be refitted to fight wars if required, serving as extra reserves. Oil Companies have a good future ahead of them.

Furthermore, the Database program, has seen massive disapproval following several media outlets spreading news about it "Storing private Info to sell to companies." The government retaliated by announcing once again that the Database will only be used to track employee status for security. The City Constantinople has also begun working on an extension of the Constantinople Stock Exchange that will allow individuals to access the database and view their own and others records. This has once again been criticised as an invasion of privacy.

In Other News, the parliamentary elections are scheduled for early December this year. Keep reading to stay tuned!

MILF World Cup Brings Money and Jobs, Politicians Prepare for Upcoming Election

    World Cup

    Image

The MILF World Cup just recently concluded the first round, and soon spectators will watch as eight nations fight for their tickets to the Final Four. Capital Stadium (pictured above) hosted our own Yangaean team in their thrilling victory over our regional rivals Sentola.

The cup has brought a total of $850.5 mn between sponsors and advertisements, and an additional $150 mn of ticket sales, official merchandise, and broadcast licenses. It is estimated that by the end of the tournament, the tourists will have brought an addition $250-300 mn into the economy. MILF's reported costs are somewhere around $400 mn, not including the 50% share of profits that is given to the Yangaean government. Needless to say, the venture has already proven to be extremely profitable for MILF and Yangaea both.

    Elections

Election season is upon us. The next set of Chiefs will be sworn in on January 5, 1995, and there are a few major competitors. As a reminder, the election system in Yangaea works as such: everyone gets 2 votes, one for their first choice candidate and one for their second choice. For every first choice vote, the candidate gets 3 points, and for every second choice vote, 1 point.
One Chief is elected for each major island. The Chief-elect must have been a resident in Yangaea for at least 10 years and in their specific island for at least 5 years. The mayor of Xate and international representative is appointed only by unanimous decision from the two chiefs.
Keep in mind that political parties are extremely restricted in Yangaea, so nearly all politicians are independent. With that in mind, here are the leading candidates along with their polling numbers and main policies.

Landersvichian - European Council Deals Come Full Cirlce

The European Mega-Highway has been finished! The flow of goods between EC member states, Landersvich, and other European nations has been completely overhauled. The new transportation network has decreased the time it takes to ship product by nearly half - it has also allowed the citizens of Europe to the community more effectively to work and other desired destinations. Gaulbert Erbauer, who is in charge of tolls on the new systems, will be keeping 2 Marks per car and the EC will be receiving 3 Marks per car. The steady revenue for Gaulbert Erbauer will allow them to expand into more lucrative business opportunities - while the EC will now be able to reinvest their portion of the tolls into their local markets. Alps Shipping Co., who does a majority of the transportation of goods in Europe will now be able to lower their service cost to the EC and still maintain their margins; The cheaper product will allow consumers and businesses all across Europe to purchase more with their currency!

HLR European Development Strategy

Otto Handel gave a statement to the press two days ago; "The European Council, The Empire of Landersvich, and - yes, HLR are eternally connected. This is what allowed for the European economic boom and for peace across the region. With HLR producing in excess of 120bn Marks of profit a year - an having too much in cash reserves to be healthy for any growing business, I think it is time we started to be more generous to our partners." Following that stunning moment, HLR released the following European Development Strategy - or (EDS) for short.

HLR will allow each national government in the EC a 25bn Mark line of credit at an astonishingly low 2.35% APR. (.2% mo)

HLR will give a 100mn Mark gift to each EC nation every year starting this year.

HLR will partner with Gaulbert Erbauer to finance development and construction projects in EC member states at a discounted rate and with low APR financing.

Lastly, if a nation is a member of the EC, HLR will discount or give a cash incentive when using an affiliate company or subsidiary; Kurtz & Shylock - Mbale; Handel Retreat - Mafia Islands (Landersvich); Imperial Oil Holdings - Landersvich; (50% - Partner) Vortex Systems - American Federation; (40% - Majority Stake/Subsidiary of HLR) Weinburg-Sveen Trust - Hulm; (49% - Minority Stake) Puente Real Estate Holdings - American Federation; (49% - Minority Stake) O'Malley Automobiles - American Federation; (35% - Minority Stake) Ricardo Brothers, Ltd - Cono Sur; (5% - Revenue ownership/Affiliate) RAMANO - Alicia; (5% - Revenue Ownership/Affiliate) Camino Nuevo - Alicia; (5% - Minority Stake) Gaulbert Erbauer - Landersvich; (5% - Minority Stake) Neue Energie LP - Landersvich; and the ILE.

Landersvichian Military Might

After years of research and development, the Landersvichin military - in partnership with HLR and American tech firms, has astonished the world with their military advancements. Now boasting the worlds most sophisticated GPS systems, tracking systems, and stealth technology, the Landersvichian Imperial Military is truly a leader. Although the size of the Landersvichian military remains small, due to their outstanding funding and technological development over the past three years, the effectiveness of each man has been exponentially increased.

Freyja Vandenbrock to Remain Chairman Until January of 1996 Elections

      Image

The Politburo decided unanimously that rather than deal with a mid term election of a new Chairman, Director of the National Supervisory Commission Freyja Vandenbrock will remain Chairman until the next planned election period.

Since taking the position the her actions have been fairly popular with both the people of Songjiang and the Politburo, employment is up, crime is down, and the nation is in a period of economic growth.

Her commanding presence during Politburo meetings ensures her points are heard though this commanding presence may have alot to do with her significant height advantage over her peers.

The Chairman's popularity is so great that Songjiangs current number one vacation destination for Songjiang males has become Svallbard the Chairman's home of birth.

The Chairmans military spending has been modest and mostly focused on replacing out of date equipment and modernization efforts.

Her largest areas of spending so far have been continued investment in road infrastructure, and industry, internet and cellular phone infrastructure, and joint space projects with Songjiang and Pavlovsk. She often combines some of these such as space missions and internet infrastructure.
Note to readers: By order of Chairman Freyja Vandenbrock the title of Chairman of the Peoples Republic of Songjiang shall remain Chairman even if the holder of the title is a woman. She also stated if anyone has an issue with this they can write her letters of complaint she wont bother reading.
Alternatively they can also bring it to her in person and she will promptly punch them in the face
Simply put if you don't like it don't vote for her in the next election

Office of the President of Alicia and its territories

August 18th, 1994
Letter to President-Elect Terence Cola of Santa Rosa

Mr.President-Elect,

I want to begin by congratulating you. Congratulations on becoming President of Santa Rosa, the first black Santa Rosan to hold the position. We are both people who have made history in our nations. I am the first woman to become President of Alicia and I plan on becoming the first women to be elected President of Alicia in the 96 election.

Our two nations have not been as close as I’d like them to be. With your new administration I hope our two nations can come together and prosper in peace and harmony. With Alician citizens and naval activity in the Caribbean I assure you we mean no threat to Santa Rosa.

As you know, Santa Rosa has two world powers to the North that are at each other’s throats. Queen Mary Caverly aligned herself with the American Federation when she married Mr.Harrison McCarthy. After you are inaugurated Secretary of State Mariano Gallo would like to personally visit Santa Rosa to discuss trade and military operations between Santa Rosa and Alicia. Again congratulations Presiden-Elect Terence Cola.

Eliza Cortéz
President of The United Districts of Alicia

Ruhollah Lysenko Announces Lamarck Was Right
      Image
A Government Provided very totally legitimate image of our
      breakthroughs in evolution.

Recently, the glorious Ruhollah Lysenko, a minor mullah who got ejected from the council for supporting a Universal Basic Income only to become President of Marahastra in a 98.2% landslide twice has released his newest decree. Namely, he has confirmed the suspicions of our clerics and proved evolution false. However, in his genius he has shined a light on the topic of science and shown plants mutually cooperate when put in rough situations, and spontaneous evolution and collaboration can make SuperPlants™. Attached above is a picture of an orange tree that through his new science the government grew through through a snowstorm. His decree stipulates those with a farming pass endorse this new science, a move supported by all of the population, and it is certain Marahastra, land of sea and wealth, of rivers and great dynasties, will fly by the rest of the Persian sphere agriculturally.

General Secretary Gorbachad addresses the 'Caribbean Naval Crisis'

      Image
A Federation ship in the Caribbean

At a Press Conference following the signing of a National People's Congress bill, General Secretary Gorbachad answered a question from a reporter regarding the recent escalation (primarily) between the American Federation and Santa Rosa.

"It threatens the peace in the new world, and the stability of the globe," Gorbachad said. "Immediately resorting to military aggression to resolve an issue is a strategy which has shown itself to be foolish time and time again in the past. We must all work towards decreasing the dangerous amount of tension in the region. Pavlovsk, along with all nations of Glascom, is committed to working towards a solution which works for all parties in the long term. I urge nations which have chosen to deploy forces into the Caribbean to reconsider, and be open to the idea of a diplomatic solution. All nations of the world must stand together in trying times such as today."

It is not known whether or not the Pavlovski government has spoken directly with any Federation or Santa Rosan officials, but the General Secretary's response today makes it seem likely that Pavlovsk will be taking a stance on the issue soon.

The Army
Army searching for quality vehicles
The Carpathian Army has announced that it is currently looking to replace the old and barely functional vehicles with vehicles that will last for at least 20 years. Due to the lack of enough funds, the Army is also looking for ways to get lower prices.

"Ciufulești-Pătrățoasa" Medical Facility - Where are they now?
The biggest Medical Research Facility in Europe, "Ciufulești-Pătrățoasa" is expanding rapidly. Thousands of researchers are currently working on various cures and treatments, the most important being those for Malaria. By finding better and cheaper treatments for Malaria, the researchers hope that this will be a way to gain a large amount of money but also solve one of the biggest problems in Africa.

Administrative Reforms
The government has announced that titles of Nobility are no longer valid and these so called "Nobles" must either pay money according to how much land they own or give some of their properties to state. So far, the "Nobles" have opted for the first option. The government will use these lands and money to build hospitals, much needed in the rural areas.

Computech,Camino Nuevo, Bair Jolasnaro, and Royal Pregnancy!

After months of delays, deliberation, and thousands spent on marketing Computech has released their up to date game changing CPU. The CPU is causing shock waves through the market with sales tripling and back orders from all around the world flying in. The company has stated that the profits will go into new ideas to change the technology industry even more.

Camino Nuevo has grew more and more after becoming the number one pharmaceutical company in the EC and a huge contender across Europe. The company has released countless drugs for pain, fever, blood clotting, and even weight loss. The company has invested over 15% of its profits into medical supplies being sold to hospitals and care facilities across the EC. Earlier today the pharmaceutical giant announced the opening of a new research facility in Madrid University. The facility will be working on everything from heart attack symptoms research to cancer treatments.

Bair Jolasnaro released reports of profits. The company is benefiting greatly from the MILF cup. Although the company saw growth, sales in more luxury items such as handbags and jewelry fell. The company immediately redirected marketing to the items saying even though they experimented with sports wear they will always be a luxury brand. Bair Jolasnaro employees in stores and warehouses will be seeing a 1.5%-4.5% raise.

Queen Mary is due any time within the next month with the royal baby and heir to the Spanish throne. The queen and Mr.McCarthy sat down for a interview early this week with “WAKE UP ALICIA!” The queen admitted morning sickness were her biggest problems in the first trimester, cravings for Alicia’s world famous ham the second trimester, and immense back pain recently. We are waiting for news for the princes or princesses arrival.

In just 4 months time an election year will be here! President Cortez is expected to run for her first term she will actually be elected to. On the conservative said Senate Majority leader Henry Bowman is expected to try again. Countless congressional races are expected to be close but a new party has caught the eye of political analysts. The Alician Rykovian party is fairly new but is expected to provide anywhere from 10 to 20 candidates in congressional races. Is Alicia headed towards Rykovian communism?

Official Decree From the Yangaean Capital

We are proud to announce that Yangaea has been accepted into Glasnost Community, a multilateral organization that will help bring prosperity to our great nation like never before.
Along with this announcement, we will be rolling out major changes to the Yangaean military. We are reducing the budget by 10% every month for the next 8 months. The budget decrease, however, will not result in a decrease in government employment, merely a reapportionment to more peaceful and important ventures. Soldiers and other military personnel who are to be cut from this measure will be offered positions in three alternative departments: (1) The Refugee Housing Project, (2) National Construction Agency, and (3) Yangaean Utilities. For soldiers that reject these offers, they will be offered 8 free semesters of education at a public university for preparation to enter the private sector or more advanced public positions. We hope to ensure that this redistribution of resources proves advantageous to everyone involved.
Yangaea has the opportunity to be at the forefront of global peace and welfare. Thank you for your attention and national pride.
LONG LIVE THE ISLES!

Signed,
Arikiwi, International representative
Jackson Adams, Chief of South Island
Caroline Scott, Chieftess of North Island
