I've long been an advocate for the left appropriating Pepe. Pepe is a worker.

As far as the alt right's attempt to appropriate the pride colors go, though, I don't see that being a massive success anywhere in the near future. As usual, far righters are too incompetent to actually keep the quiet part of their ideology quiet, and their memery is forced like hell. Honkler is already tainted (and was a rather pathetic "GAMERSRISEUP" kind of meme to begin with). And if the alt right thinks they can beat LGBT+ people in a meme war, they're in for a shock.

The usual suspect, of course, is a fraction of the woke side of Twitter desperately trying to outwoke Bernie Sanders by pointing the finger at his age, gender and skin tone as disqualifiers. It doesn't seem to be going anywhere other than its own sad circle-jerk, specially when every candidate who might get woke points on identity alone is not doing a great job of accompaining their identity with actual socially and economically progressive policy.

Then there's the Alabama thing. As I've come to expect, a major liberal talking point is that men are voting for these anti-abortion laws, but little by little some people on the left are pushing back and pointing out that, in fact, a lot of the grassroots activism against reproductive rights is carried out by conservative women, and a woman signed that Alabama bill into law. I still think there's legitimacy to the idea that decisions on women's reproductive health should prioritize the insights of those who'd be directly affected it (chiefly, women), but not to the extent of assuming as a matter of principle that gender inherently determines one's tendency to be on the right or wrong side of this debate.
