I like the idea that the main reason she snapped was the realization that she could have done this way back during Season 7 Episode 1 and the whole ordeal would have been over in an afternoon - it was that easy the whole time. She would have probably already been Queen of the Seven Kingdoms by the time Jon's ship had reached Dragonstone.
Instead she went through all this BS her "advisors" were urging her to do, lost Jorah, Missandei, two dragons and the majority of her forces and had her advisors undermining and betraying her left and right.

I mean, pretty much. The Lannister army wasn't focused at KL when she arrived, they didn't have the Iron Fleet yet IIRC, and Dany had every single advantage. She should have been a decisive Aegon the Conquer and just swept in on KL to take it, instead of letting herself be convinced by her advisors. It would have fallen in a day, Dorne and the Reach would have acclaimed her ruler, Euron probably would have bent the knee or died to her dragons, and the Westerlands, Riverlands and Stormlands (left leaderless) would probably bend the knee. Only the North and Vale would remain, and their leaders wanted her help.

Poor Dany.

"My queen, it is done! You have taken King's Landing, destroyed House Lannister, secured the support of Dorne, the Reach and the Iron Islands, and the Riverlands will soon join us too now that the Freys are all dead and the few remaining Lannister forces are on the run. The only challenges remaining are finding a proper royal husband to establish a dynasty and gaining the allegiance of the North."

Tbf that rape victim killed her husband after she tried to help her. I mean, context matters.

The same husband who had led to the woman's gangrape, the gangrape of her friends and neighbors, and the mass murder of her people.

All because Dany was obsessed with getting her rapist-husband to take his horde of racist rapers and pillagers across the sea to rape and pillage her homeland. I wouldn't count that as stable. It's something a psychopath would advocate for.

I'd say that's a bit unfair, considering she had repeatedly tried to get Drogo and the Dothraki off the rapetrain. In fact, come to to think of it, her insistence on that matter was the reason why Drogo got wounded and gave the witch a chance to do her thing to him in the first place.

She knew what they were when she was pushing for it. Drogo wasn't standing up for an end to the rape, he was putting one of his ko's in his place because the man kept bitching.

Yes, who she fell in love with because he killed her brother and swore to put her on the throne of Westeros by carving a bloody swath through the kingdom she wanted to rule, and at this time thought was full of people who were eager for a Targaryen restoration.

pretty sure she fell in love before he killed her brother, but it's also not like Viserys didn't having coming.

I always got the sense that it was his speech after the assassination attempt that did it.

I wonder what was intended to be signs of an unstable personality and what was simply inconsistent writing...

Though diehard fans can just claim that there were never any inconsistencies in the first place and they were all intended to hint at something that they weren't actually hinting at thus killing two birds with one stone by explaining away any inconsistencies and creating setup that wasn't actually there to shove into the face of people who weren't TRUE fans of the show and just didn't see it.

It's kind of a perfect solution for defender's of the show in a sick sort of way since you can't prove D&D's intentions.

I don’t think anything was inconsistent. She’s always had a mean streak when it comes to her opposition. She’s very much a dragon in that regard. Treat her right, and she’s loyal to a fault. Cross her and all the Polybenzimidazole in the world won’t save you.

Prime example.

Not saying you're necessarily being dishonest with your beliefs, just saying that it's kind of the perfect excuse to use if there were inconsistencies and you didn't want to acknowledge them.

Sure, but I’m not a die hard fan who will blindly say no it all works. The burning of KL is inconsistent because she’s never killed civilians before. In fact when she destroys Penthos she gives the Unsullied specific instructions to only kill Masters but harm no woman or child.

It could have been in character if they had taken more time to build the moment, but at this point we’re all just repeating ourselves

Stannys the Mannys: evil tyrant, burns people, but Davos and Shireen loved him, so I cut him some slack until the evil tyrant burnt Shireen.

Likewise. I had cut some slack to Dannys the Womanis until she nuked the Tarlys.

Therefore I was not surprised at Mad Queen.

When did spoilers get revoked?

I wasn't a fan of how the show made him a religious fanatic who burns people when in the books he was an atheist who refused to burn people. Bit of a switch.

so there's no way he's going to be showing up to grab the Iron Throne with Unsullied and Essos reinforcements once everyone's completely depleted their remaining Westerosi troops?

That sounds pretty dumb. Daario's character arc, whatever was left of it anyway, was finished at the end of season 6. They're not going to complicate the story any further by bringing him back.

However, I have a feeling Tyrion will die very soon because his fate is somehow linked to the other Lannister twins. Also, he turned Varys in (wrongfully) and presumably he will have to pay for that with a strange twist of fate. He's pretty consistently been (unwisely) loyal to the Dragon Queen and I think that's coming back to bite him.

Tyrion is long overdue for a BBQ session with Drogon. He has been failing Dany as an advisor again and again and again. The one and only time he gave sound advise (keeping the Tarleys around as hostages rather than burninating them) she ignored him. This episode, he immediately undermined her again by freeing Jaime despite a clear warning that she won't tolerate any more failures. Seriously, she has burned people for far, far less.

Errrr, no. What had been discussed between the two of them was that Tyrion would find a way for the bells to ring in King's Landing, which for the most part he succeeded. Dany decided to throw a wrench at what could've been a bloodless (and flameless) conclusion to the war by burning the city bcoz why not.

I have a feeling Tyrion will die for her mistake anyway bcoz she can just place the blame on others for the "failure" he displayed.
