Have you ever considered that Kings Landing people, have suffered more then the noble house, given that they have been starved, religiously bullied by the faith militant, dealt with a siege, and used as pawns in the schemes of nobles.

Kings Landing gets Sacked by the Lannisters in Roberts Rebellion
City gets assaulted by a Baratheon Army led by King Stannis in the battle of Blackwater bay and a bit of it gets burnt down/fucked up
City is starving to death until the Tyrells show up
City falls prey to rampant zealotry and bullshit with the Sparrows and the power struggle between the Tyrells and Lannisters
Equivalent of the Vatican gets fucking nuked with tens of thousands dying fiery deaths
They all flee into the city because of the targaryen invasion and then the city gets wiped off the face of the earth in the inevitable attack on the city by Daenerys

They're probably more badass then Dany at this point, if they have survived even this. Makes you wonder why they didnt conscript them, if they can survive all of that. Give 'em a weapon and their are unbeatable. Had Joffrey lived longer he would say, "Only a fool would meet the citizens of Kings Landing in open city streets."

King's Landing, we've been told repeatedly, has a population of one million. It's a big city. Any time you see a crowd of a thousand people in a King's Landing scene, there's a thousand times as many people elsewhere in the city, going about their business.
