THEREISNOGODISTAN COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE
OFFICIAL TEAM SHEET

Thereisnogodistan County is a county in the Abanhfleft colony of the Fhulghamous Peninsula. It was established on November 30, 2014 from the splitting of Haritzaga County, by Colonial Executive Order No. 190047. The southern part of the county retained the name and history of Haritzaga County, while the northern part was named Thereisnogodistan County. The county seat is Thereisnogodabad.

Thereisnogodistan County Community College is an American football team based in Thereisnogodabad, Fhulghamous Peninsula. Its home ground is Richard Dawkins Park, a 23,171-seater park named after the prominent atheist Richard Dawkins, which is also currently the home ground of Fleftic Premier League team Thereisnogodistan F.C. Even though it is a college team, Thereisnogodistan Community College has participated in the World Bowl many times and even came out runners-up in the last-ever edition of the Baptism of Iron as well as World Bowl XXVIII. TCC has also participated in seven consecutive NSCF tournaments before voluntarily sitting out NSCF 19 due to budget constraints. Now that TCC's monetary situation has been stabilized, they have decided to participate in the NSCF once again, making it just in time for the 20th edition.

CENEISIS NAVAL ACADEMY

Ceneisis Naval Academy is an American football team based in Porcusces, Ceneisis, Abanhfleft. Its home ground is Lieutenant Helmut Tatuwal Memorial Athletic Field, a 12,470-seater park named after Lieutenant Helmut Tatuwal, son of Ceneisis governor Taram Tatuwal and a recipient of the Parliamentary Medal of Honor for his actions during the 2013 Fhulghamous Crisis. The team is a perennial contender in Abanhfleft's NCAA system, and has won at least eight titles in the last thirteen years, most recently the NSCF's Zephyr Conference. They are noted for being a defensive-minded team in a country where most often offense is deemed as the best defense. Also, for the first time in its history, Ceneisis Naval Academy will field female players for the NSCF.

Filibusters' Street (often abbreviated as just The Street) is the home stadium of Fleftic Premier League side Admiral Porcusces Football Club, winners of the 2019-2020 Premier League. It has an official capacity of 35,712 and will be the new home stadium of Ceneisis Naval Academy for the NSCF, barring scheduling conflicts with Admiral Porcusces' fixtures.


Throckmorton Bridge (shortened as The Bridge) is the home ground of Sporting Club de Ceneisis, a Fleftic Premier League team and the most successful soccer team in the region. It has an official capacity of 41,702 people and has been rented out by Ceneisis Naval Academy for big games involving division rivals. Scheduling around Sporting Ceneisis' fixtures may be a little bit of a problem but Ceneisis Naval is confident that arrangements can be made on time for use of the Bridge.

ALTERNATE VENUE - TATUWAL MEMORIAL FIELD

Lieutenant Helmut Tatuwal Memorial Athletic Field (often abbreviated as just Tatuwal Memorial Field) has an official capacity of 12,470, but there are plenty of open spaces for fans to set up their own seats, and standing space is also an option. University of Javoser Crocodiles

Gridiron football is more of a curiosity than a serious sport in Sajnur, and along with being less popular than the main team sports of association football, Sajnuran football, cricket, and rugby, it's also less popular than basketball and motorised quidditch. As such, the gridiron scene is mostly in universities, although given Sajnur's willingness to throw money at just about anything, there is an eight team professional league. Gridiron is largely confined to the southern original provinces of Sajnur, with the only prominent university team north of Magji being in Alahin, capital of Solmie province, and no teams at all in Kalavar or the acquired provinces. A large majority of gridiron players in Sajnur are not native Sajnurans, but instead are foreign university students or expat professionals.

[Ko-oren]

Well out of sync with the rest of our nation's Gridiron battles, the Salamantic Universities' Professors have kicked off twice now in the NSCF. Exciting stuff: we have a 'national' team to support in the offseason, so we come another 15-20 weeks closer to year-round gridiron football. Some of the biggest names of our domestic D-League (Developmental League) that stayed in school for their postgrads feature on this team, and once they have their degree, they are still free to choose between sports, academics, or a different career.

A short explanation of Ko-orenite gridiron: there is a professional of 12 teams, featuring all of the big names from the World Bowl and such. Every one of these teams has a Second Division team as some sort of farm team, with one caveat that there is no age limit to playing in the second division. Some local heroes have decided to play their entire career in the Seconds, if they don't want to leave their hometown, for instance. Every professional has another farm team associated with it: a D-League team, for players of university age. Once their bachelor's are finished, they are free to move on to the Second Division team, or to the professional team if they're ready. Or, of course, they forego on gridiron entirely and either play for a non-league team in their spare time, or not play at all. Similarly to how a head coach can decline a player, the player can also turn their back on the sport - there are no obligations from either side.

A small sidenote on the Second Division teams: they used to be their own thing, until finances forced them into becoming the professional teams' feeder teams. The Second Division team still stress their separate histories, historical rivalries, hometowns, colours, and traditions.

The Laringen Ravens and the Aminey Bengals made the D-League final last year, and the Lamau Bears and the Mayara Mariners did the year before. The Ravens produced Jurre Hinken, starting running back and sociology student at the Schemerdrechtuniversiteit, for instance. One of the eventual winners of that game, the Bengals, Noro Sardou, is a second string offensive tackle, still trying to get his MBA at the Université d'Économie Côtienne, in Aminey. Last year's winners, the Mariners, supply starting middle linebacker Siunparend Nislondhaunthen, a nursing student in the Medical Institute of the Capitals. As you can see, the 40-odd players selected to the first ever Professors team have trouble getting enough practise time, though their programmes take the NSCF into account. The Salamantic Universities' Professors was founded as a way to keep collegiate athletes closer to the sport. The name was chosen (the first part, at least) because every university in Ko-oren is tied to a central organisation, the Salamantic Universities, named after the northwestern Atlantian Oceanian sea that is home to Ko-oren.

The biggest surprise after the last edition of the D-League is that Ravel Brahe, left tackle, stayed in school: reportedly he barely made it through the undergrads and was ready to sign with the Mayara Destroyers, a professional team where he could have been the immediate answer at left tackle.

This first one felt like a practise game to some extent. Both teams had trouble finding a rhythm, and only once the Mariners found a way to punish the Professors' lax front 7, their running back went down a minor injury and didn't see the field until late in the second half. Enkwist had an unassuming game, failing to read the defence and missing open receivers - not by overthrowing them or something, but throwing to well-covered receivers instead. On other plays, Enkwist was in total control of his offence, throwing the ball on his receiver's first sidestep, knowing that Suthmeer and Nekker could get open on nearly ever comeback route that was called. A 0-0 score at half time was avoided as Cunningham did everything right with less than a minute on the clock. Both offences, while sloppy, avoided turnovers until the fourth quarter, when a Hooligan fumble went straight to the Mariners, only for them to give the ball right back. Fortuin waited in coverage and got the interception. On this drive, Enkwist hit three straight completions for the first time this game, getting his team in the redzone and shoveling the ball to Lindeberg on 1st and goal. All in all, a lot to improve on. The basis is there with every player, but it hardly feels cohesive.

And how different this game was from the first one. Implementing a lot of simple but effective plays, Enkwist went 37 from 45 and three touchdowns, after the team was behind on two occasions in the first half, going into the half on a 10-7 deficit. The Bull Tigers couldn't get any further point. The Professors' defence was successful, getting the ball back twice (one was returned for a touchdown by Monaghan) and setting up the go-ahead touchdown early in the third half. Suthmeer was an impossible mismatch for the Bull Tigers' defence, he caught two passes in the endzone and was dangerous on a few other plays as well. Enkwist's biggest problem, overlooking open receivers, was mitigated fairly well. Most of all, the playbook seemed so much simpler, while it was also designed with the opponent in mind. A 'reactionary' offence suits this team so much better. On defence, the front 7 remained suspect, but the secondary didn't give up much. A few nickel back packages with every player starting close to the line of scrimmage kept the Bull Tigers' running down well enough. Cunningham remains perfect on the season - a great target for any team looking for a kicker next year.

Northern Moravica confirms status as Banija's premier college football program with 48-21 blowout victory over Loyola in Week 2 of the NSCF

HERZEGOVINA CITY, MORAVICA- This rivalry has long been the biggest domestic rivalry in Banijan sports. These two schools, Loyola-Istria and Northern Moravica, have never liked each other, and were almost made to be rivals. Both schools created right at the beginning of the 2nd Quebecois colonization period, and between them, they are Banija’s two oldest, two largest, and two most prestigious Universities. Not to mention, the richest, biggest fanbases, etc… This rivalry has been chronicled on the pages of this magazine for years. And even though both are in the Moravica region, with Northern Moravica in Herzegovina City and Loyola-Istria in, well, the City of Istria, this is a rivalry that does not simply divide the region- though of course, almost everyone in Moravica either puts on Northern red or Loyola blue as a baby. This is a rivalry that transcends the entire country. Not everyone is a fan of Northern Moravica or Loyola-Istria of course. But as the country’s biggest draw in the country’s biggest college sport, almost everybody watches, and almost everybody picks a side. Even if you’re a fan of the University of Ankole, or of the University of Moravica(whose basketball program is rapidly ascending, as was seen in their run to the NSCAA title game), or if any other school, you generally watch this one- as there are almost fireworks.

And the last few seasons, the schedules have been set in stone- Northern Moravica hosting in Week 2, with Loyola-Istria hosting in Week 7. It works, as two of the NSCF’s most dominant programs get each other out of the way early on. But then, of course, the last two seasons, we have seen these two schools meet in the NSCF playoffs, both at the Istria Lightning Yard. Loyola-Istria’s victory in the NSCF 18 Quarterfinals helped catapault them to their second consecutive NSCF championship game appearance, though with all the pressure heaped upon them in trying to win 15 games in a row to win the NSCF 18 title game, they were not able to finish the job down in the nation’s capitol, as they fell to a very young Mar Sara Tech team and did not repeat as the champions of college football. At that point, however, with Northern Moravica’s historic postseason struggles, and Loyola-Istria’s 3 championship game appearances leading to a pair of titles, it seemed as if Loyola-Istria, ever since the schools had gotten to the NSCF, had the upper hand. Even with Northern Moravica’s dominance in the realm of conference titles, it was Loyola’s dominance of the postseason that took all the headlines, and naturally, their momentum as the country’s strongest college football program.

It took a long time for the tide to turn. Horace Browning, otherwise an excellent football coach, got fired in NSCF 18 for the sole purpose of allowing his side to fall behind Loyola-Istria, and of course, for consistent postseason struggles. He had four Celestia Conference titles to his name as head coach, however, but the dominance of the archrivals, and the prominence of the rivalry, saw his reign end. Of course, he ended up being hired as Athletic Director after that, when the school’s Board of Regents decided to remove the Athletic Director, which put him in the odd position of finding the replacement of the job that he had just been fired from. And last season, it seemed as if it would be more of the same. Northern Moravica winning the early meeting and the conference championship, but once again, late season struggles in non-conference play saw Loyola-Istria get a higher seeding than they did, and saw the new head coach, Lance Kabuye, face the same criticisms as the old one- could he get his team over the hump?

What an opportunity he had last season. They finally were winning playoff games, and they had finally gained some playoff momentum. After a blowout 34 point victory on home soil, they went to the Academy of Space- obviously the toughest trip in the NSCF- to play the #1 seeds, and the NSCF 17 runner-ups. They put a smack down on the NSCF’s top ranked side, 33-13, to set up one of the most anticipated North v. South Showdowns of all time- a semifinal, at the Istria Lighting Yard. This was the opportunity for Northern Moravica- the playoff choker reputation that they had developed over the years, was now disappearing after their big road win at the Academy of Space. But could they get over the hump? The mental hump that was what would surely be an electric Istria Lighting Yard, their archrivals, the Blue Thunder?

And that is exactly what happened. In the highest rated college football game in Banijan history, with both teams playing for a chance to get into the NSCF 19 title game, it was Northern Moravica who broke the hearts of the home fans, and the Blue Thunder faithful everywhere, when they stormed into the country’s largest city and came out with a 31-20 victory away from home. A shocker of a score, it would be the game that would end the career of Isaka Jawara, who had played his way into Blue Thunder lore as one of, if not the, school’s greatest quarterback ever. And not only the school’s greatest- one of the Celestia Conference’s greatest ever quarterbacks, as well as one of the greatest players in NSCF history. Isaka Jawara tormented Northern Moravica for years. As a four years starter, he did so when Loyola was playing domestically, during NSCF 16, while the BCSG was in a dispute with the pair of Moravican schools over their participation in the NSCF. He did so in NSCF 17, when he won the NSCF 17 Offensive Player of the Year award en route to win the NSCF 17 championship. He did so in NSCF 18, when he won the Most Outstandign Player award and eliminated the Cougars from the NSCF 18 Postseason, by leading his time to a thrilling win at the Istria Lightning Yard in that season’s quarterfinals. And then, of course, the writing was on the wall for Jawara to do so one more time, at what would be his final home game at the Istria Lighting Yard, the senior trying to get what would be a fantastic sendoff.

But Northern Moravica had other plans. The championship starved school hadn’t ever won a NSCF championship, and with this 31-20 win, they got over that hump. Those demons would be, at least, on the backburner- defeating their archrivals en route to their first ever NSCF championship game. Ending Loyola’s vaunted 35 home game winning streak. And who was their opponent? None other than Richardson University of Ranoria, a quality and deserving school. However, destiny seemed to be on Northern’s side- and they have finally shed their old reputations by winning the NSCF 19 title game by a score of 24-20 over the Ranorian school. Now, of course, the opportunity was there. Now that they had a NSCF title under their belt, and defeated Loyola-Istria at the Istria Lightning Yard, no less, to get there, the chance was there to re-establish Northern Moravica as the country’s dominant program.

Would they seize on that opportunity? The answer is absolutely. Both teams had blowout victories in their home openers in Week 1, with Northern Moravica stomping all over New Pathshala for Military Training Priests by a score of 48-3, with Loyola-Istria debuting new quarterback Omar Jassey with a 52-14 victory over University of Rasisikenev. Of course, neither of those schools are expected to challenge for the Celestia conference crown, so those games served as a tuneup for this big one- Northern v. Loyola. It was at this game, rather than their week 1 home opener, where the school chose to officially give out rings to members of the NSCF 19 Championship squad. And, of course, make the Loyola team and fans witness that ceremony. Is it petty? Of course. But this is college football- what do you expect?

Northern Moravica has a lot of experienced players returning, especially at the skill positions. Chae Heung-Kim, the Quebecois quarterback, is back for his junior season, and his 3rd season at the helm. He is ready to take the next step in his own development, and become a star in his own right. With Jawara now graduated and playing professionally for the Black Mambas, is he going to step into the spotlight as Banija’s top college quarterback?

That is a question that can wait for another day. First, of course, getting to the game. Northern Moravica put on a truly complete performance- one of their best of the Kabuye era. It was thoroughly dominant- touchdowns on their first three possesions saw them go up 21-0 late in the first quarter, and they never looked back, as their quickly earned lead forced Loyola-Istria to try and play catch up. Omar Jassey struggled- he threw three interceptions against only one touchdown against the vaunted Northern Moravica defensive unit, as his first participation in Banija’s biggest rivalry game caused his own nerves to be rattled.

In what was seen as a struggle for Loyola-Istria, is surely to be seen as a massive triumph for Northern Moravica. After the game, Northern Moravica fans chanted the number 8- as in, 8 wins Northern Moravica has over Loyola in NSCF play, which juxtaposes well against the five wins that Loyola has over Northern Moravica in NSCF play. Lance Kabuye said that it was “a fantastic, all-around game by our boys- let’s see who brags about who is the best college football program now.” And then, he said that they could not celebrate too much, as they had another tough matchup coming up- when they would have to travel to Ko-oren to play the Salamantic Universities. Loyola-Istria, after that smackdown, will go back to the drawing board surely. But this much is certainly true- right now, with Northern Moravica’s NSCF 19 title, combined with this beatdown of their archrivals, means that Northern Moravica is certainly, at least currently, Banija’s dominant college football program.

The young season is looking promising for the Raiders as they cruise to another outstanding victory. As we head out on our first road game against Raynor University, expectations were high for another victory and the guys delivered. Holding another opponent to under 20 points is a statement to the powerhouse teams in the conference that nothing will be easy this season.

Offense was spectacular for their second straight week being lead by QB Ray'Quan Smith. The sophomore was lights out with 32-45 361 yards and 4 passing TD with 78 rushing yards added. This offense looks unstoppable early on and will ride the wave until there's no energy left. Felix Hawthorne was ripping big gains one after another as the O-line was parting the red sea for him. Combined Hawthorne and the o line ran for 223 yards on 30 carriers. Tight end Trey Boyd was Smith's go to Target in this game as the two connect on 8 receptions for 108 yards and 2TD. This offense is built on speed and straight talent and with the coaches bringing out everything out of each man on that team, anything is possible for this young team.

Defense continues to dominate with another all-star performance. Holding their opponent to 384 yards on offense, most of the yardage coming in garbage time, secured 1 interception and 4 sacks.

Cold Hill @ Richardson

Over the loudspeakers, Head Coach Richard Steinheil could hear the music playing, the announcers listing off his team’s starters. And who could blame them? This game was a big deal. Despite Richardson and Cold Hill’s failure to advance past the quarterfinals in the domestic season, the two programs were still considered the premier schools in the country, and for the first time in years, they hadn’t had a domestic season run-in.

As such, with both teams in a bit of a transitional phase, Richardson was the favorite. At home and with a slightly more experienced core, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they cruised to a victory. But Cold Hill still had a few remnants of the historic signing class that had put them on the map. Those guys included outside linebacker and defensive captain Earnest Longhorn, fellow captain and free safety Marcelo Salley, and monstrous left tackle Kevin Eakin. All three were stars in their own right, and there was enough of a supporting cast around them for the three to lead their squad to victory.

That supporting cast included fellow seniors WR Karl Kraus, FB Jordan Jose, and K/P Barry Chlorid. Kraus has been a consistently productive receiver throughout his tenure, Jose has never lit up the stat sheet, but is an excellent blocker, and Chlorid is one of the best kickers in the history of Ranorian College Football. By that, he could probably go kick for kick with an above average kicker in any other nation.

Amongst the rest of the team, we have junior running back Hue Ross, who has been a consistently productive power runner with a brutal, angry style that wears teams down throughout four quarters. Fellow junior Charles Foreman, an edge rusher, has carved out a spot as a productive pass disruptor, while corners Clarence von Arris and Clara North are two of the best coverage defenders in the nation. The latter still struggles to deal with the sheer size and strength of grown men, but she makes up for it with elite athleticism and speed. North is a senior, and another member of that great recruiting class.

At receiver, speedy freshmen Rodney Blades and Dexter Slaughter have made an impact in a passing game built around deep shot plays, all thanks to freshman quarterback Deondre Rhine. Rhine struggles with drug use, alcoholism, and violent tendencies, but when he manages to stay on the field, he can produce like few others. Many say his passing skills are reminiscent of former Richardson star John Garrett, as a matter of fact.

But even with all this talent, everyone had Cold Hill slotted in for a loss here. Last season, when they still had star quarterback Thorn Davis, electric wideout Jarrett Hauptmann, and other members of that vaunted recruiting class hitting their prime, they fell to Richardson 20-10 in the NSCF semifinal game.

And Richardson, on paper, has only grown stronger.

At QB, Ifeatu Chineze won the starting job in a contest that lasted all the way into the NSCF season, and is now an established playmaker coming off of a productive season, with backfield mate Vice Jackson III in his second year now looking to make a splash as a runner. Meanwhile, a strong recruiting class saw the return of the dominant history of the program’s offensive line with freshman Thrane Valentine and Howie Peters earning the starting tackle spots. Their impact, and second runner Kuenda Sello’s hammer-blow running style, helped this offense kick it up a notch.

On the back end, linebacker Isaiah Bryce was still a force against the run and a threat to knock down short passes over there middle, with good strength, awareness, and closing speed. And up front, a combination of three monster defensive tackles and a freshman stud defensive end gave opposing offenses fits. Filling in the back was cornerback Spencer Houston, capable of taking away almost any team’s top receiving threat.

And so, most of the pundits favored Richardson. But Steinheil had a sick feeling in his gut that conflicted with his usually brazen confidence. Something was off today, as Ifeatu Chineze dropped back for the first time and let a pass rip, Clarence von Arris knocking it away against Kieran-Kweo Atkison, who managed to keep his cool after being ejected in the first quarter of their last matchup.

The drive resulted in a quick three and out after a pair of runs from Vice Jackson netted just 7 yards, but after his defensive unit managed the same feet, Steinheil thought better of his earlier worries, electing to go aggressive with the next drive.

On the next snap, Jackson III took the handoff and darted to the outside, putting a hand into linebacker Horace Crowns’s chest to drive him into the dirt before ramming into safety Marcell Salley and carrying the defender out of bounds past the sticks.

And with the big run, the Richardson crowd went nearly dead silent, hoping to see their vaunted offense go to work. Steinheil was only to happy to oblige.

He raised up four fingers, signaling with the other to go into a hurry-up offense that called for quick plays to keep the defense from subbing players in and out.

Four plays later, and Richardson was knocking on the door, but another impressive stand by Cold Hill’s front led to a chip-shot field goal.

After that, things started to spiral out of control.

While Isaiah Bryce was able to lead the front seven in holding Cold Hill’s run game in check, the secondary was struggling to keep up with the Buffalo receiving core. While top wideout Karl Kraus wasn’t even getting looked at, Rodney Blades and Dexter Slaughter we’re making mincemeat of the secondary. Spencer Houston, Richardson’s top corner, was a blanket on Cold Hill’s top man, but Jabyess Hawkins, despite his speed, seemed to get sold on every fake and move by the younger wideouts.

And as such, it came to no one’s surprise when Dexter Slaughter went up and snagged the ball down in the end zone to take a 7-3 lead in the first quarter, a lead that would grow to a startling 17-10 by the end of the half with Richardson’s offense sputtering and their defense on their heels against such an explosive offense. In the closing seconds, defensive end Malik Sherman was able to drag down Deondre Rhine late in the half to knock the Buffalo out of field goal range, or so everyone thought. From 50 yards out, no Ranorian kicker would even be given a shot. Not until Barry Chlorid stepped onto the field, that is.

The record in Richardson’s Dietrich Stadium was a 46 yarder, held by a kicker for the Governors in years past. But Barry Chlorid, Cold Hill’s man, added insult to injury by taking the stadium’s record long field goal record.

The second half didn’t go much better.

Earnest Longhorn continued to have an outstanding performance against normally solid right tackle Thrane Valentine, the veteran edge rusher securing a total of four tackles for a loss throughout the contest with three coming in the third quarter to continue to silence Richardson’s rushing attack, the hinge that allowed their entire offense to move. A fumble by Vice Jackson didn’t help matters, either, when linebacker Horace Crowns smashed the ball out of his hands.

And when they did drop back to pass against a team that didn’t fear the threat of the run, it proved disastrous. Kieran Kweo-Atkison, who’d been held in check all night, was the target on another deep shot. He’d caught 2 balls for 19 yards thus far, with 17 of those coming from the slot when Cold Hill’s defense failed to move von-Arris back onto him.

This time, the lockdown corner made them pay.

He didn’t have the overwhelming size of Atkison, but he was every bit the athlete and a contortionist with his body in the air. He knew how to play the ball, and that’s what he did.

While there wasn’t much of a return on the play, it still set up Cold Hill with solid field position, leading Deondre Rhine to toss up his third touchdown of the game, this one to Rodney Blades, who made a show of tossing the football into Richardson’s stands, up 24-10 and without much to worry about. This was a statement for Cold Hill. They weren’t last year’s team, and they had no intention of going out quietly.

But the Governors were a tough squad, and after Richard Steinheil spent a time-out to talk to his offensive unit, they were primed and ready to go once again.

The drive finally saw some success, with Calvin Hale getting open and out-muscling female corner Klara North on a jump ball for a deep score. The passing touchdown was, surprisingly, Chineze’s first on the season, but it got Richardson within a score going into the fourth quarter, and they managed another field goal to get to 20, down just four points with ten minutes left in the game. But by then, it was already over.

The defense was, frankly, gassed. The front seven had made stop after stop, and the centerpiece of the unit, Isaiah Bryce, has notched eleven tackles, a number that would grow to 14 by the end of a drive that saw Hue Ross pound one into the end zone just as the final seconds on the clock wore out. They could have knelt the ball a few snaps beforehand, but this was a rivalry game. And that meant they wanted blood. They’d gotten it.

31-20 over the much-praised Richardson Governors, who now dropped to 1-1 on the season while Cold Hill was sitting pretty at 2-0.

The University of the Commonwealth football team has looked sharp in their opening two home games to open the Mineral Conference schedule in NSCF 20. A 32-13 win against Iokiaq International was followed by a 43-10 victory over Clawtown University last week.

Now the Warrior will take to the road for a visit to Northern Alenburg University, who currently sit 0-2. Coach Scott Newell is pleased with the way the team have executed to this stage. "I think we are looking sharp and consistent offensively, and the 'D' is flying to the ball and making plays. You can't get complacent in this (NSCF) because people can jump up and surprise you when you relax a bit."

Newell said that Lamin Kah, the freshman wide receiver from Banija, would make his first NSCF start against NAU, having started 5 of 12 games last fall in UAC play. "Lamin has of course been a revelation for us. His work ethic has been outstanding and he has been eager to learn everything he can about playing the position. "

When asked about his thoughts about the other top teams after 2 games, Newell spoke of the schools who are familiar to fans here. "Northern Moravica are the defending champions, and I don't see a reason why they shouldn't be there at the end, along with their rivals Loyola-Istria. Northern put a good beating on them last week, but I don't think that will matter, they'll both have to be reckoned with. The Fleftic teams look impressive so far and I think the two team we'll play (University of Space and TAA) will be in the discussion. Richardson and Cold Hill and I don't think either of them are underestimating Tecumseh. Mara Sara and Raynor are back, so that conference is going to be a death march."

The Next Big Thing

The Professors' are a hit among fans. Not only do we finally have low-intensity (for those that only follow the Professors, that is) spring gridiron, we also have some sort of national-ish team, at least, the team doesn't divide fanbases, and we have a look at some potential stars for the future. Fans of D-League teams can follow their favourite players as they get a national spotlight, scouts get film on players that previously would only come back to gridiron after a 1-3 year hiatus. Time will tell if the players that graduate from the Professors make as much of an impact as their classmates that joined the D-League or the Second Division this year. Anyway, joining the NSCF is a success.

That said, the Professors laid a big fat goose egg against Northern Moravica. The two Banijan teams now top the Conference with the Ko-orenite team close behind in third. It looks like these will be the three teams to decide who goes to the various postseason activities, and for now the Professors are to play catch-up. Meanwhile, the Blue Thunder won 70-14, so in comparison the 12-0 loss is not so bad. The losers of that first game, New Pathshala, conceded three times as many points in one game as the Professors have in all three games, not bad for a first try. Then again, there are some huge scores here and there and quality does massively differ across teams. And probably across Conferences, but we are yet to experience what other Conferences have to offer. So far we can only see that they've all got gorgeous names, from Celestia to Horizon, to Zephyr, and Big Eight. Well, one of these surely isn't like the others. We're lucky the Professors were drawn into the Conference with the prettiest name. However, so far also the only Conference without a postseason Bowl dedicated to the Conference.

The very next game is against the Blue Thunder and that means that the defence will have to show up even more than it already has. Limiting the score will be the prime directive, and turnovers might even get a win. A lot will come down to preparation, and so far the staff has done a quality job. All eyes are on Mauzalterinden, still the starting safety, but the only member of the secondary who has yet to record an interception. The pressure is on for him, but it also is for his colleagues in the secondary: we expect turnovers from them. Lacan has been a true plague for opposing quarterbacks, with two INTs to his name. The front seven, much like most front sevens, have struggled to pile on the pressure.

At the same time, the D-League is preparing for next season without the players that deferred to the Professors. Every single team is missing some players, but the Straudum Pelters, associated with the Aerellen Explosions, could make a convincing case for most cursed team, having to give up their starting QB, TE, and CB: Enkwist, Suthmeer, and Aothemirila. The D-League's southern conference has shared the load much more: each team is three to four players short. Even if the Aminey Caspians are the only professional team from Francophone Ko-oren, the Francophone universities feed into multiple different D-League teams, from Aminey's, to Eaglebury's, Mawryshire's, and even some players to other programmes.

Another game down, and the Banijan steam rollers are out of town for the next couple of games. That allows the Professors to get a win to stay in contention for the playoffs, though it has to be said that both Banijan teams are so immensely strong that the Professors might have to settle for a different bowl. Anyhow, scheduled programming returned with a 17-0 win over the last team the Professors had to play for the first time, the New Pathshala for Military Training Priests. That's a shutout, and that means that the purple team's excellent defensive record keeps on going on. Well, it doesn't take much in the Celestia Conference to have good defensive stats, it really only comes down to limiting Banija's Blue Thunder and especially the Cougars.

The offence and defence both put 6 points on the board: on the Priests' second drive, Holmgroen snatched a wobbly pass out of the air and somehow found nobody on his way to the endzone. He was nearly pulled out of bounds as he came down with the catch, but the receiver did not get enough grip on him and Holmgroen kept his balance. Nobody else was there to guard the flat route. The Priests had to take a risk on 3rd & 6, couldn't find anyone, and Holmgroen was there to intercept near the sidelines. Cunningham added the extra point with ease, and the team was 7-0 up. News of of the Blue Thunder's huge lead over the Mariners came in after that - they had the earlier kickoff and had 30+ points over their opponents.

Enkwist used the remainder of the first half to find a rhythm, the rushing attack not adding much. Lindeberg suffered an injury but walked off on his own, and Nekker also showed signs of wear and tear. Despite that, the other receiving options rose up to the challenge, and Aidivan had 10 targets for 7 receptions and 60 yards on those. The biggest winner of the day in that sense was Suthmeer, who had been an excellent target for Enkwist in earlier games, adding 4 receptions on 8 targets - but for 94 yards. The other skill players all chipped in, but it was fullback Zuidergroen - who saw limited use in every game so far - to almost get the touchdown in the second quarter. His 20 yarder was taken off the board for holding, and Cunningham landed the field goal on fourth down with 30 yards to go to the endzone. This left exactly 2 minutes and 4 seconds on the clock, which went nowhere for the home team, and that was that for the first half.

Both teams made their adjustments in the second half: the Priests allowed the Professors to run a bit more but cracked down on the easy completions. On the other side, the Priests also managed to get more open receivers - for shorter gains, a result of the Ko-orenites playing zone far more often than man now. It stayed a cat-and-mouse game for the third quarter. Another turnover gave Enkwist the opportunity to add to the score in the fourth quarter, Naastland forcing the fumble and Cochet recovering it while being chased down by the entire offensive line. It seemed that the home team's QB would have to be subbed off for the rest of the game, but the team never got the ball back after that. Enkwist led the team on a 80-yard, 6 minute and 49 second drive to deliver a 3 yard touchdown pass to Aidivan with ten seconds on the clock. The Priests came back out, without the QB, only to kneel down with two seconds on the clock, ending their misery themselves. Not a very heroic ending, but a fair enough decision following a physical game and multiple injuries.

Lindeberg could miss next game. Nekker walked off most of his problems, and should be back 100%. On the defence, Bootsma and Fortuin might get limited snaps, and Nislondhaunthen could miss the game entirely.

The way forward for the Professors is clear: keep doing what you're doing, establish more rapport between players, and win every game against teams that don't call Banija home. As the weeks go by, Suthmeer looks to be a prime target in the next draft, having almost completed his computer science degree. The entire secondary might just go to the pros as well, so barring any injuries those might just be five first-round picks. As far as the Professors are concerned: the team is hitting its stride, but are they ready for the next round of Cougars and Blue Thunder?

Richardson, Cold Hill Tied Atop Big 8 Conference

After Cold Hill gave Richardson a surprise defeat in week 2 in their home stadium, a 31-20 upset, many believed that the apparently strong Richardson squad might end up slipping in the NSCF season. Fortunately for anyone who roots for the Governor squad, they bounced back quickly. Unfortunately, the offense is still struggling to produce, and has only managed to produce more than 20 points once this season.

Regardless, Richardson sits at 4-1, tied atop of the Big 8 Conference with domestic rival Cold Hill. The offense may be underperforming, but the defense is keeping this team afloat, having won all of their last three games. The defense is holding opponents to 11.4 points per game, including two shutouts. And without the 31 point breakdown against Cold Hill, they've only been allowing 6.5 points.

At quarterback, Ifeatu Chineze hasn't lived up to his performance in the domestic season, only having produced 871 yards on the season. His only standout performance has come in week 4 against Mar Sara Tech, when he let the ball rip 36 times, with 29 completions for 341 yards and three touchdown passes without an interception. He's been picked off in three other outings. It appears that defenses have been throwing complex coverage in order to throw off Chineze's timing. While the quarterback has lethal accuracy, he has been shown to struggle when it comes to full field reads and improvisation

If this team is going to make a run at the championship that they failed to secure last season, they're going to need to get more out of their quarterback. Fortunately, Cold Hill slipped up in week five after a 4-0 run to start the season. Their offense stalled out in a 12-9 loss to Mar Sara Tech.

Deondre Rhine, the team's quarterback, has been managing to produce a solid amount of points, his reckless gunslinger mentality has also caused a couple flops. Even if he's only had one performance with multiple interceptions, that coming against Mar Sara Tech, he tends to throw the ball up too often when an easier throw is available. Often, Rhine will force the ball downfield and allow it to float out of bounds. While it could be said that Rhine has character issues, the coaching staff has failed to set any sort of fire under him, and as long as he knows he can show up and ride his talent to victory, it appears that that's exactly what he's going to do.

After slipping up in week 4 against Mar Sara Tech, the team's eyes, and all of those from the fans, are on the quarterback to clean up his act. If he doesn't, it wouldn't be surprising to see the team impose a suspension given any sort of excuse, if only to get the quarterback to realize just what the consequences of his actions can be.

Despite a strong conference that includes Raynor, Tecumsuh, Mar Sara Tech, and Raynor, all signs are pointing to to a conference-deciding matchup between Cold Hill and Richardson in week 6.

[Space]

Academy of Space

ARENA - "Extraterrestrial Dome of Sport".
The dome is constructed of clear plasticized glass allowing a cristal clear view of the stars and planets above. The dome will rotate with respect to its surroundings during matches for enhanced viewing, though any nearby stars (Stars within 2 or fewer Astronomical Units) will remain on the backside of the playing field to prevent glaring and temperature control.

The dome currently has 35,000 permanent seats, with a further 43,000 temporary seating available. The dome is expandable up to over 200,000 seats but there are no plans of this type at the time.

It will be an interesting challenge for the players from opposing nations as the Academy is non terrestrial (Of course, a playing field and gravity are provided, but are isolated to the dome of play itself. The upper dome is clear allowing a view of the solar system). While the team representing Space will surely be the underdog during away matches, it is quietly hoped that they will be able to gain more of a home field advantage than other teams might usually have due to this subtle location difference, and end the season with a respectable record.

Coach: Cosmo Icii

Cosmo has been coaching the non-competitive team at the Academy of Sport and as far as the board is concerned, the job is Cosmo's regardless of the record, so long as he doesn't embarrass the school. While not recognized previously by the NSCF, the Academy has attempted to conform to standard practice by identifying those players who are further along in their schooling but never participated in the sport team with the appropriate allocation.
