The Cuban Crisis escalated out of hand any diplomatic relations were cut, then the nukes started to fly, first cities to be destroyed were Havana, Moscow, Istanbul, and Washington, millions were killed in mere minutes, then all went silent, there was no city and no country spared everything seemingly glowed, the people that got into the shelters needed to be not only prepared physically but mentally because they would need to be prepared for long fifty years, if you exit to fast the radiation will most likely kill you or the mutations will drive you crazy. Many asked question was this necessary other didn't ask they couldn't bear the fact this was the apocalypse and simply shot themselves
But fifty years later the radiation slowly evaporates to non-lethal levels and people spared by nuclear armageddon emerge to find themselves in a new world with no country and no leader, only a single entity against what radiation created and what radiation made of you, yes most if not all people started to mutate or already mutated, horrible messes of various animals that could even out-compete Lovecraftian horrors in terms of horribleness and brutality other threats are even worse, people that radiation drove crazy.
Now you are one of the various creatures living in rumbles of New York City or the Manhattan Island to be exact, the once beautiful city of neons is now mostly silent and abandoned, except for some small settlements. For those lucky enough to have a radio all channels proved radio silent, you are all on you're own.

How Things Work
This is a Sandbox RP, where, you are supposed to live out your characters life and/or death. Every two days smaller events pop up, and every week a major event happens. I hope you will enjoy.
Encounters, so you are free to describe what you are facing of and what it does to you and what you do to it. What is your purpose on this island, honestly, trying to overcome whatever the wasteland has thrown at you, or in other words doing whatever you in the wasteland
Divide
Manhattan is divided into three areas
1.Lower Manhattan
This is not the most recovered part of Manhattan but, it's not the worst. A few settlements are here and there but people generally don't trust each other. This is an area of generally weaker and more spread out enemies, or as you could refer to it, low-level area.
2. Middle Manhattan
The place that recovered the best. Settlements are on many streets, people might not even carry a weapon around here if there are any enemies, they are in the sewers. This is generally the trade and rest area of the whole of Manhattan.
3. Upper Manhattan
This is the wild part, whatever is there, it wants to kill you, most likely in the most gruesome fashion. The most Crazies and Amalgamates are running around this area. The high-level area. But to give you a small push to go there, it is rumored that a bridge to other land ( land on another side of the river ) is there, and why should you care about other land, it is generally regarded as a place where you either will get, a better, more normal life or, the best loot possible.

Quick Summary: While area up to Hell's Kitchen is mostly civilized and few settlements are sprawling, everywhere on the east is a giant mystery just as lands outside the island, and the Collegiate is the only settlement there so far known but even if you make it there is no guarantee they won't just sacrifice you to their gods, they are a cult and so far the only settlement on Manhattan to openly defy Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism

What roams the city, what you can be in this RP, what will attack you, the answer is in this box
Social Insects
Who doesn't know at least one, yes things that ruin your picnics survived the nuclear holocaust, even better they are now human size can speak and are generally more civilized, yes they have their own society, individual species are Wasps, Bees, and Ants
Arthropods
Other arthropods survived too and mutated in the same way as their social counterparts but less into having a social structure, they are loners and prefer to stay away from settlements, most commonly spotted in Upper Manhattan
Land and Air Animals
They have typically just additional limbs but sometimes they gained consciousness or human body or both, you can even find unmutated animals roaming around, especially in the central park
Water Animals
If I can give you a tip on how to survive in this world, do not swim in Hudson, even if the radiation doesn't kill you, do you want to get eaten by giant eels, two-fanged fish, twelvepus ( octopus with twelve tentacles ) and what other dammed creature swims there
Humans
There are two types of humans, mutated and pure, pure often tend to discriminate mutated humans, mutated humans have many different categories, AL's ( most common, gained some limbs), Superhumans ( rarest, has enhanced senses and abilities) and Crazies( those that mutation turned crazy, can be from both previous categories most commonly spotted in Upper Manhattan sometimes in Lower Manhattan )
Amalgamates
A horrible mess of fused together animals constantly screaming, squawking and giving out other unsettling sounds trying to get anything in their range to assimilate them into them, most commonly spotted in Upper Manhattan
Weapons
Pistols and Knives are most common, you can find Shotgun sometimes, they are considered medium rare, Automatic and Sub-Automatic weaponry is on Manhattan but they are very rare, there is no fancy technology such as lasers remember the war started in the '60s
Trading
It only works by exchanging goods, why, because people lost most of their money during the fall, and it was later used as a fire starter for those that weren't in bunkers.
Religion
Mostly the most major religions are practiced ( Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism and since Temple of Satan has become officially recognized as a religious institution, I'm throwing Satanism into the mix { no, they don't sacrifice anyone, they just see Satan as an icon of Rebellion or something, I didn't research enough to speak about it, but don't get any Aztec-like ideas } ) but, after the bombs fell,
some felt it was a punishment from other beings for worshipping false gods and set out to find a new truth, some found it ( like people at Collegiate with their Blood Gods ), and this is where you, the players come into the mix, you can make your religion
Events
What are events, events are just things that happen in the city, either a large stash of pre-fall tech was discovered, or crazies forming up in bands, those pop up every two days and expire every three days ( so there is a day where events overlap ), then there are major events, which affect much larger portion of Manhattan's population.
Major Events, What can they be, Hives started to attack en mass, a boat from the other land has arrived, a new disease, those things.
How to join events, I'll announce when an event is coming up so you can sign your character up for it
