Before he was murdered, John Lennon's favourite band was the B52s.

I'm sure most of us know Dunkirk, right? The fleet of small boats saving English troops during WWII? Well, a tugboat that assisted in the operation had a tea boy. When he got back to England, his socks were so full of dirt and salt from not being washed they stood up like boots. The boy's mother kept the socks as ornaments and boasted to her friends and neighbors about the socks that went to the front.

Can you explain? Is it because some people don't have two arms?

Also, the -oid suffix means "similar, but not same as", so "factoid" means "not exactly a fact."

Exactly. The people with fewer than two arms brings down the average number of arms per person to slightly less than two.

Never heard of that. A factoid is just a small tidbit fact.

Mike Skinner holds the record for most races won by a NASCAR driver in Japan, with two out of the three exhibition races run in Japan being won by him (1997 in Suzuka, 1998 in Twin Ring Motegi). Despite this, he has never got a points paying win in his career.

When D-Day was being planned, the British came up with a monstrosity called the Panjandrum to break through the Atlantic Wall.

It was a giant, explosive cart that was rocket-propelled and was supposed to explode on contact.

It also wasn’t guided. Because you know, that’s safe n stuff.

When AC/DC guitarist Angus Young was asked about alleged backmasking in one of their songs, Night Prowler, he said that they didn't hide anything, they simply called the entire album Highway to Hell.

Habsburg inbreeding was so extensive that Carlos II of Spain was simultaneously the son, great-nephew and first-cousin of his parents - who were uncle and niece; all eight of his great-grandparents were descendants of Joanna and Philip I of Castile. Carlos II was famously described as 'short, lame, epileptic, senile and completely bald before 35, always on the verge of death but repeatedly baffling Christendom by continuing to live'.

You know what they say: the Habsburgs didn’t war, they screwed their way into other European royal houses. Isabella of Portugal was Charles V’s first cousin after all.
