[OCC Thread] Pax Gothica - Regional Capital of Gholgoth!

This is the OCC Thread for Pax Gothica - Regional Capital of Gholtogh! We'll use this thread to help coordinate. Info below:

Welcome to Pax Gothica! This thread is open to anyone wishing to RP with the nations of Gholgoth in a more peaceful setting. In particular, this thread is great for anyone who might be new to the game or wants to do dip their toe into Gothic waters.

This thread takes place in Gholgoth’s regional capital of Pax Gothica. Each Gothic Lord has their own district, a shared airport and deep sea port, as well as a single ‘Capital’ district of Pax. There are four embassy districts that are open for nations outside the region to establish their embassies. There’s a visitor’s guide below in case you get lost.

This thread *is* different so please keep these guidelines in mind.

- This thread happens asynchronously - which means that posts can be out of chronological order. While the thread will start with “Opening Day” we will also be posting stories about how Pax Gothica was built years back. That also means you have some flexibility when you post. You can post a self-contained story and not interrupt things too much.

- This thread is pretty open and flexible - feel free to post your characters exploring the city, your nation asking for an embassy or trade relations, secret meetings, it’s wide open. This is also a good thread for spies since there are a lot of governments and diplomats here.

- While this thread is open, if you are rude you will be asked to leave.

Some IC Rules that your characters should follow

- There are a fair amount of regulations here, but only one real law. All who enter Pax Gothica will keep the peace. The city is heavily guarded and people who make trouble will be expelled unceremoniously.

- There are very few people who are allowed to carry weapons in this city and all of them have official roles within the region or are Custodians (the local police force). Getting caught with a weapon here in Pax will get you locked up or worse. Those entering the city are warned that Shedding blood in this city is a very very bad idea.

- Each Gothic Lord’s District is considered national territory of that nation under those laws. (Havensky’s Republic City district is under the laws of Havensky. Kraven’s Norksa district is under their law, ect ect)

Seeing as this is an open thread, I may as well get myself a tad acquainted with Gholgoth before The Black Tide. As I'm currently previewing, it'll probably be yet another showcase for Sousundowa Carême's restaurant, though how I'm going to get it in there will be the question. Depending on the tech level, there is one that they take along often, but otherwise, they may have to rent out or purchase a space, as I did in another thread of mine. Since I already have one thread featuring them prominently, I'll probably be using their restaurant just as a medium to introduce other Psytrine & Parfuhmerian characters. Before we start, though, a few questions:

1. As I operate in my own sealed universe, would you guys rather leave that unmentioned in the IC thread or operate with that in mind? This was an issue Kylarnatia brought up in The Black Tide, though I will be able to function the same regardless of if I claim or do not claim to be from another universe.
2. What is the tech level for this thread?

Hi Shwe!

For 1), I don't think you necessarily need to mention the sealed universe thing. Most visitors to Pax arn't from around here and we'd just presume you're from very far away. Which is totally fine!

For 2), Gholgoth is mostly PMT but has FT and FanT elements too. I think Pax would probably be '20 minutes into the future' where tech has advanced from modern day but no so much that it's not recognizable. I think we can be pretty flexible on the tech levels of visitors since a meeting between characters in a building isn't going to change all that much.

Hey folks, Kyle here. I've already posted a summarized guide to Kylarnatia's district - known as Angel District - here. Please do take the time to read it through and think about which place you think would peak your interest to visit, or perhaps even work/live in with a character if that takes your interest.

I've also just posted a sort of 'introductory' post here, just to hopefully give you a sense of what Kylarnatian people and culture is like in a nutshell, and the more posts I make - hopefully, with your interactions - the more we can explore these things further, especially if they're relevant to how our people interact both as individuals and as nation-states. If you want to roleplay from the perspective of foreign visitors - either official or just tourists - or as foreign news outlets covering the day, feel free to get in touch.

Also feel free to get in touch if you have any general questions and want to brainstorm ideas for involvement. A straightforward example is using this as an IC narrative reason to establish a diplomatic mission, but there are lots of other things we could do spawning off from that.

Aside from any interactions of that nature, Kylarnatia ICly is going to be focused on using the new setting of Pax Gothica to promote more joint efforts between various Gothic states on issues such as defence and diplomacy, but also things like conservationism and heritage protection, just because I'm curious to explore those sorts of things for the purposes of flavour and more character-driven RPs.

Since I'm quite busy with my Master's thesis at present, responses will likely be short but even then might take some time, so patience is appreciated.

I'm moderately experienced in casual RPing, but not as this account (Brettenwald is an alternate, my main account is East Fredonia. I'm doing this as Brettenwald just because I think it's a more interesting nation to RP as, and I'd like to start doing more serious/more detailed stuff. Is this open to anyone?
(I'm busy with finals until Tuesday, so I can't jump in right now)
