The Battles of the Consoles

So, as you all know, there are four mainstream gaming consoles on the market today- the Xbox One S, the Xbox One X, the Nintendo Switch, and the PlayStation 4. There are also numerous other consoles that are somewhat order, yet still cool, such as the Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS/ 2DS, PlayStation 3, and more! There are also even older consoles, such as the Genesis consoles, that are also quite cool. Then, there’s the arcade games, which count as consoles in my book.

So, which gaming console do you think is the best, considering all the factors, such as cost, gameplay, portability, graphics, game selection, and more?

Personally, I think the best one is the Nintendo Switch. I really love how there is a handheld mode and a television mode, and that there is at least three different ways to use the Joycons. You can also connect any Bluetooth controller to the Switch as well. There are also several very good games that are Switch- exclusive, such as Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Super Mario Odyssey, and more. On top of that, it is relatively cheap, compared to the prices of the Xbox One X and the PS4. You can purchase a Nintendo Switch with Smash Bros Ultimate, two custom Joycons, a Switch skin, Joycon grips, a Joycon controller grip, a dock, and a plug for just $360.

I've been enjoying the Nintendo Switch lately, thanks to what OP practically said. Doesn't help that I bought it in one of GAME's (yes, they do exist in Spain) bundles (the one back in July 2018 when you could buy a brand new Switch alongside one game).

For multiplayer though? Ehhhh, it depends.
For online, I'd definetly pick the PS4 over the Switch (Switch's is kinda crap).
For local? Meh, I don't really care. It depends on how many people are playing, really. Although I find the Wii and the Wii U to be the better ones in this regard (Wiimotes are dirty cheap, and there's a lot of nice couch multiplayer games (Nintendo Land, for example)).

You are right on PS4 having the best internet. PlayStation internet is free, iirc. Not including the internet it uses on your Wi-Fi, of course...

Consoles and video games aren't a good use of money in my view. A good enough spec PC can play anything you could want, and a controller can be hooked up to a PC with the right adaptor. I'd agree that for a lot of games, a controller is ergonomically better and has more accurate precision than any mouse and keyboard set up.

With the right emulator and settings, you can play all of the old games for low to no cost.

The one situation where I'd recommend spending money on games (if you want to) is if it's still relatively new on the retail market, your hardware can successfully run it, and it won't take up too much of your disposable income or assets.

Otherwise, if you just want to play some games to kill time, there are so many old ones out there that can be gotten for much less or even at no cost. Just wait for long enough, and today's new games will be tomorrow's old games. With old games, you need lower specs generally speaking, so its a good match if even budget hardware gets better every single year. You won't need to work your machine towards overheating if the game itself isn't as processor and graphics demanding.

Any current PC can smoothly run PS2 era games and maybe even better. And even the crappiest machine can run games that're from PS1 era or older. I like 16 bit graphics a lot as far as aesthetics go, so I have a minor soft spot for the SNES era.
