My overall account that I use for P2TM and even for international roleplaying! MNM is a mysterious and extremely dangerous dictatorship filled with supernatural oddities, demons, militarized soldiers everywhere, and a misanthropic nihilistic dictator who doesn't give a damn. It's basically if the SCP Foundation got mixed with 1984.

Ok, so these are the minor policies Aleravez made before the RP, essientially ones that everyone new he was going to make and did not have such a huge impact on the state of New Mexico.

Minor Policies:
1). New Mexico Restrictions and limitations on Abortions Act, 2016: restricts on request abortions to the first trimester ( this can be changed as we discuss), exceptions for this are rape, health of the mother and incest. This does not put any restrictions on the funding or availability of such abortions if granted.
2). New Mexico Ban on Unconventional Firearms Act, 2016: Bans Flamethrowers, tanks and RPGs (including Grenade launchers ) form being purchased or owned as recreational or defensive weaponry.
3). New Mexico Anti-discrimination Act, 2017: Reinforces anti-discrimination laws in the state and provides more support for LGBT people and people of colour.
4). New Mexico Gender Pay Discrepancy Act, 2017: Bans a discrepancy in wage in two employees with the same position and hours based on gender, includes Transgender people.

After some discussion and compiling the relevant changes people suggest to make them work better or be more realisitic, I will post an overview of the minor and major policies in the IC in the form of an article.

Yeah, true I should have really called them social policies, since the major ones all are economical.
The first one also is a sort of a conservative trade off (although I'm not sure it would be) as this would be one way of allowing the extra service and healthcare funding to go through.

The part that makes the first one hard isn't making the deal with Republicans so much as managing to get it through the state Senate. Making that kind of deal with at least some of the GOP could work for him, but he needs to get some of his own party on board to make it happen.

I think it actually is possible in New Mexico specifically in a way that it wouldn't be in most other states with a Dem majority in the leg, there's still a social conservative vein in the NM Dem that he might be able to breakaway a fraction of the party on. I think it's feasible, but just with the understanding that it would take a lot of political capital

Ah crap I was thinking he was governor of Arizona for some reason lol Yea the heavy Hispanic population is overwhelmingly Catholic and religious so that makes it more feasible, especially if a deal is cut with more moderate and conservative democrats like "We will cut down on abortions if you increase healthcare funding"

Character State of Origin: Guantanamo Bay Naval Base
Character State of Residence: New Mexico
Character Party Affiliation: Republican
Main Strengths: Bilingual (English and Spanish); long and honorable military career; Purple Heart recipient; conservative Hispanic; effective and charismatic; popular among his constituents; good with social media; nationalist
Main Weaknesses: Sued by two former employees during his time as SNMDVS; audit under Castile's tenure pointed out a number of issues; not really known outside of New Mexico and military/veteran groups; inexperienced; mild PTSD that he has kept under wraps; tendency to make gaffes during debates; was unable to attract large donors to his campaign

Biography: Castile was born on January 17, 1966, at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba to Isaac Castile, a naval officer. For most of his young life, Castile grew up in naval bases located across Latin and South America, such as Brazil and El Salvador, gaining proficiency in Spanish. Castile's father was restationed at Guantanamo Bay when he was 14 and he attended W. T. Sampson High School until 11th grade when his father was honorably discharged and settled the family in New Mexico. Castile completed his last year of high school in New Mexico.

After graduating from high school, Castile decided to attend the University of New Mexico, join the school's Naval ROTC, and follow in his father's footsteps and become a naval officer. Castile graduated from UNM with a BA in Computer Science and instead of being commissioned as an officer in the Navy, he instead decided to become an officer in the Marines. Commissioned as a Second Lt, Castile was sent to Pensacola to become a marine aviator. After graduating from flight school, he was assigned to fly F/A-18 Hornets during the end of the Gulf War. His combat duty began in 1991. Castile was apart of the 42-day bombing campaign. After the Gulf War, Castile continued to fly and was sent to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar for a refresher training course. Castile stayed at MCAS Miramar until 1998 when he was sent to Kosovo to participate in the NATO air campaign. During this time until 1999, Castile was training KLA forces but a few days before the 23rd of March he was sent to Aviano Air Base where he would partake in the 1999 bombing campaign of Yugoslavia. After the war in Kosovo, Castile once again returned home and during this time served as an instructor for Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 101.

Castile continued to serve as an instructor for MFATS 101 until 2005 when he was sent overseas once again to Iraq. During a mission over Iraq in 2009, Castile's F/A-18 Hornet was shot down and he fractured both arms and a leg. After the injury, he was promoted to the rank of Lt. Colonel and given command of the newly formed, Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 501. In 2012, he medically retired from the Marine Corps due to the injuries he sustained when he was shot down in Iraq.

After medically retiring from the Marine Corps, Castile joined the Department of New Mexico Veterans of Foreign Wars and started working as an advocate for veterans, gaining accreditation from NOVA. Castile lobbied the New Mexico government for better transparency within the NMDVS and for an investigation into the treatment of veterans. Castile served as Secretary of the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services under Governor Alvarez from 2014 until early 2016 when he resigned. During Castile's time as Secretary, he was sued by two former employees, advisers to him, who alleged that Castile wrongfully fired one and threatened and intimidated another for bringing reports of misuse of government property by NMDVS employee, some of who were appointed by Castile to serve with him. Castile was represented by the Attorney General's office and in late 2016, the state announced that it had settled the case for $45,230 with no admission of wrongdoing. Also during his tenure as Secretary, an audit conducted found a number of issues going on within the department. It found that state-owned vehicles were used for matters not relating to the work of the NMDVS, a fiscal year report that was failed to be completed and turned in on time, failure to conduct annual reviews of benefits, and failure to establish a task force to deal with and study mistreatment of veterans in veterans' homes across New Mexico, this, however, was a problem from the previous administration. The auditor department described the findings by as "unusual" in its audits.

Castile set his sights on becoming a representative because he was interested in current events, was ready for a new challenge, and had developed political ambitions during his time as Secretary of NMDVS. In 2016, Castile ran as a Republican and won the highly contested primary election and then went on to win the general election easily in the heavily Republican district.

Castile was sworn in on January 3, 2017, and was assigned to the House Armed Services Committee and the House Veterans' Affairs Committee. Castile serves as Chair of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces.

Other Info: Catholic; After Castile's injury, he was awarded the Air Medal, Purple Heart, and Navy, and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.

Looks like a good start!

We'll want to get some things sorted out. A minor bit is that he wouldn't get the Navy/Marine Corps medal for getting shot down in a combat situation. For the more political stuff, we'll get in touch with Peng to make sure that Ale would appoint him, obviously it's a pick across party lines and it is a little abrupt after service but its feasible. Weaknesses with the sueing and audit issues should be fleshed out more, those're the main part, nationalist isn't really a weakness, and another one to add might be good with his strengths

Alvarez seems fairly bi-partisan i have confidence he'd do it, but I agree a bigger gap might be necessary maybe a year or two where he was a veterans advocate after service. As for nationalist in the current republican party its a strength

I'm thinking maybe a few years as Vice Commander of the New Mexico American Legion.

American Legion leadership positions are typically heavily seniority-based. I do not think it would be particularly likely that he would step up to such a position immediately following his discharge.

Alright, I'll think of something else and I warn you to never visit the New Mexico American Legion site.

So, essientially he'd brake off a splinter group of socially conservative Democrats who are willing to fund healthcare and services in exchange for some socially conservative legislation (so basically Lite Republicans Aleravez can use to push through more funding).

Aleravez would probably appoint him, there seems to be no reason not too and as you said he is fairly Bi-partisan.

Appearance:

Character State of Origin: Guantanamo Bay Naval Base
Character State of Residence: New Mexico
Character Party Affiliation: Republican
Main Strengths: Bilingual (English and Spanish); long and honorable military career; Purple Heart recipient; conservative Hispanic; effective and charismatic; popular among his constituents; good with social media; nationalist
Main Weaknesses: Sued by two former employees during his time as SNMDVS; audit under Castile's tenure pointed out a number of issues; not really known outside of New Mexico and military/veteran groups; inexperienced; mild PTSD that he has kept under wraps

I'd say to add just one more weakness, probably something skill based, like fundraising or debate skills. He's got a lot of benefits there, charismatic, popular, his record, etc., just a little something more for balance.

Changes look great, bio looks all good.
