And, with that, we've got our first Conference finalist. Knowing the trend that's going on, I'm going to guess that the Bruin Jackets are going to end up sweeping the Canes but, for now, I have to give a genuine congratulations to Carolina while I wait for Tree to give his Congrats! to the NYslanders.

To quote what I said a while back:

Elejamie wrote:Even if they both go out, I'd say that the Pens would be the ultimate failure here. Sure the Lightning were the Presidents Trophy winners but they've been consistently choking the past few playoffs. Pittsburgh, on the other hand, won two Stanley Cups in a row a couple of years ago and had a bit of a rough time last season but fell completely to shit this season.

I was not expecting the Canes to destroy two teams that I thought were going to win the Stanley Cup. How'd they get so good?

How you think the old fogey in the stupid suits is feeling right now? Not only did the Canes make bank on merch with that "Bunch of Jerks" deal, they're one series from the finals.

So now the Bruins, Sharks, and Stars all have a shot to close things out in Game 6.

The Bruins and Stars may do it. I think the Sharks will drop at least one more.

Russia wins the Euro Hockey Tour with a 5-1 victory over Czech Republic!

Kazakhstan and Belarus were promoted from Division I to the World Championship 2020. With just one or two NHL games a day - it's a great time for the World Championship. As for the bracket stuff, you guys are right - I made it too complex, so once the round robin stage's over, I'll just post a straight up playoff bracket, for anyone who wants to do it, and then have one more post tallying up the results - so two straightforward posts - won't take more than a minute each, leaving plenty of time for our playoff bracket.

Speaking of our playoff bracket - C'mon Blues! Give the folks in Texas some blues, aight? :P

I might give it a go in that case, even if the most likely possibility of my beloved Team GB getting absolutely routed in the group stages happens. I'm not saying it for sure but there's a chance I'll do it.

Your wish has come true, as St. Louis has managed to force a game seven.

To be fair to old Barold (or is it Bawrence? Benry maybe?), he did lead the Caps to that Stanley Cup win last season, so sadly no Legacy of Failure for him. Though you could also argue that that was a fluke.

UT has a decent point, the islanders have inherited the curse of the Barclay Center from the rangers.

Despite having both of them to win in my bracket, I was kind of hoping the Stars would win last night as well as the Bruins beating the Blue Jackets, just so I'd have an excuse to post that Blue Monday song again (the original and the best, of course). Oh well, that's life. Shame the BlueJacks lost but as they made it further than anyone expected them to, coupled with the fact that they swept the Presidents Trophy winners, we should give them a round of applause for their valiant efforts.

Tarsonis wrote:UT has a decent point, the islanders have inherited the curse of the Barclay Center from the rangers.

The Virgin Barclays Centre vs the Chad Nassau Coliseum. That being said, here's hoping they can take the SUV with them to Belmont or, at the very least, get a new one installed and put in somewhere without it affecting the sightlines or anything else that would get in the way, since that seems to be the only thing going for them there.

To be fair, the regular season division winners (Tampa, Washington, Calgary, Nashville) all got upset in the first round. So the teams we have left now are not exactly the teams that were expected to reach this point.

So in a conference finals between the Blues and the Sharks who's going to choke hardest?

Point Scale:

Idzeq - 10 (Islanders, Blues, Bruins, Stars, Sharks, Canes, Sharks, Blues)
Polska - 7 (Islanders, Bruins, Sharks, Blues, Bruins)
Elejamie - 6 (Bruins, Sharks, Sharks, Blues)
Tarsonis - 5 (Avalanche, Sharks, Canes)
Shof - 5 (Bruins, Sharks, Blues)
Naz - 5 (Bruins, Sharks, Bruins)

What an interesting round - everyone picked up four points. Next round picks, let's get them in guys! Remember, now it's four points per team. I'm going with Sharks and Canes.
