I don't watch any full games (even if I had cable, I still probably wouldn't), but I would definitely recommend watching the 3-5 minutes "recap" videos for each game on MLB.com or their app. The regular season is much more enjoyable that way, at least in my opinion.

Unfortunately (and understandably), that would be quite a long process. It would be unlikely that the MLB would go back to Canada by my logic, but I guess that's always an option.
This isn't necessarily based on any evidence, but I always figured the MLB could get so much more out of the US South. Between Arkansas, Louisiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, the Carolinas, and Virginia, there's only one team: the Braves. It's not quite that scientific, but it just showcases how few teams are in the area. I know that the MLB has at least narrowed New Orleans and Charlotte as possible expansion locations. After all, the NFL has a team in Nashville, New Orleans, Charlotte, and Atlanta – plus one extra in Florida compared to MLB – and I'd imagine there are plenty of baseball fans in those areas in addition to the football fans.
It's more complex than I make it out to be, of course, but it's still something to explore.
