A house like the one i live in right now honestly. I dont want a mansion or anything too fancy, just a regular ole semi terraced house

I would build a 2 story (and basement) plantation mansion with a full wrap around porch on both levels, party down stairs calm family life upstairs. In the basement there will also be a bunker for me my wife, my two kids and there significant other.

In the back I'll have a large pool with a small island with a gasibo on it, a pool house for my mother to live in. A large shop to hold all my cars, a large stable and horse range, I'll dig a small pond and dam it off so I'll have a nice river that flows to a smaller pond and loops back to the larger pond, hunting bunkers around the small pond, and a golf range.

This is probably not realistic but a guy can dream of going up in the world.

I would want to live in an old farmhouse, with the farm of course, and some wind turbines or something. I would want to be at least partly self sufficent. Oh, and maybe a secret passageway or two.

Okay, so my first description was too vague, so here we go.
My ideal house would be completely powered by solar panels and other renewables. It would have a 5 meters tall Trump-esque wall around it, I want to have my privacy. Inside, my children could play in secret passageways with lots of fun stuff in some places, while me as a father could have 2 computers, 1 for work and 1 for gaming (haha, men never grow up). In that house, the beds are futuristic and seem to be bigger in size than it actually is. It would ideally have a pool illuminated by the sun and a flag flying over it to symbolize our patriotism. Since I don't want to be greedy, neighbors could come here during "open hours" and enjoy the great monstros-I mean ideal house, yeah.

I would probably have surveillance cameras in the wall, cuz being a rich man means opening yourself up to the risk of scumbags robbing your house. You know, if you have "1812 Overture" as your alarm sound it could deter some people. I want to have "1812 Overture" being played by my alarm.

  • Stand-alone.
  • Must be a bit far from any population center; being near a cemetery can be considered. I hate having neighbors, especially those with kids.
  • Has at least two bathrooms, all depending on the number of floors.
  • Has an English-style garden. It looks natural and artistically irregular.
  • Has several rooms. It's fun having a space for a specific function. (e.g. guest bedrooms, TV room, study)
  • Has a spacious kitchen.
  • With a basement. For stuff like laundry or a space-consuming city diorama or exercise.
  • With secret passageways, in case of intruders.
  • Has a view of either a sea, a river, or a mountain.
  • No attic or fireplaces.
  • Wooden floors.
  • With solar panels on the roof.
  • Has at least one tree close to the house.
  • Must be slightly far from roads frequented by automobiles. Roadside accidents can oh-so ruin the walls and fence.
I'll try to find a good approximating picture.

The main house from Regular Show. Only with a gravel or concrete landscape. Would be nicer to not need to mow any lawns regularly.

For me the ideal house would be a modern house in a semi-rural area, but still a bit close to the urban area of a city (which you'd travel to by car). It would have a view of the sea, and mountains. There wouldn't be too many neighbours.

Well, the practical version is something like my grandparents old cottage - small but with a decently sized garden - except closer to a major city like Dublin. Room for myself and my partner and pets and guests to live comfortably.

The dream house though? I'd have to go with something gothic. Big old gothic mansion in the countryside. Maybe with a village nearby, but its residents will refuse to give you directions. Big grand entryway with a lot of land. All the trees are dead. They move in the wind (there's no wind). Maybe there's an old graveyard and a ruined chapel. Obviously there's the family crypt - bolted from the outside for some reason. Big grand entryway with gargoyles peering down at you. Hallway full of oil portraits of my ancestors, all of whom look suspiciously similar to me. Gotta have an library, a study, a ballroom, a laboratory (no entry!), etc. Plenty of towers and turrets, from which I can lean out of during thunderstorms and laugh maniacally. We don't talk about what's in the East Wing. Gotta have plenty of old pipes and creaky floorboards. And a basement that's connected to lots of ancient tunnels and such. Lots of strange corridors that don't go anywhere or don't go where you'd expect them to go. A winding staircase that seems to just keep going downwards forever. Secret passageways obviously. That sorta stuff.

A mid century modern water front home with a deep enough water dock (at least 6ft/2m MLLW), a boat ramp, a good sized yard in a suburban area bordering a large park/nature preserve so with easy urban access but still nature right by.

A large basement and yes a bunker hidden behind a bookshelf or something.
Basement definitely needs a secret room/bunker.

Large garage too.

the smallest enclosed space sufficient to shelter all of the activities and interests of its occupants that require shelter and enclosure.
more transitional space then is currently popular, for uses that require only partial shelter, and also to psychologially be more inviting to passing in either direction, would be desirable. diversity in appearance and methods of construction is desirable too.

unless you have frequent guests and throw lots of parties, the traditional living and dining rooms are a complete waste of space.
home offices and craft workshop spaces are not. and you can never have too much shelf space either.

kitchen, dinning and sanitary facilities are of course essential.
and that kitchen dinning area can suffice for 'ritual space' if your guests are few and seldom.

lots of shelves and some sort of work space within easy reach of sleeping accomodations,
so you don't have to travel miles, or awaken fully, to not loose those constructive creative ideas that occur in the relaxed state of near sleep.

mazes are good for the mind, and if you wish to live in or with an extended household, tiny rooms and twisty halls are ideal.

sound deadening qualities are good too, unless the site is far enough from other human interference.
and construction methods that improve energy efficiency are good thing, like underground or bermed.

and ideal house is never conventional for the sake of being conventional.
and needs to take into serious major account, in its very form and methods of construction, local conditions of weather and climate.

so there is no same house ideal for any two different people nor in two different locations.
the one ideal that does work for all though, is the one i furst stated; that of succinctness.

oh, and we need to stop being slaves to the rectangle, AND to trying to impress each other.
truth isn't what i say. isn't what you say. isn't what anybody says. truth is what is there, when no one is saying anything.

Not to be corny, but as long as it is a home, the house doesn't really matter IMO. Although, enough room for all the crap I've been collecting for the last almost half century would be a bonus...

as an openly colony of cameroi, let me throw a link to my furaffinity gallery, which attempts to depict a world of my range of ideal houses.
inspired as much by my thoughts on the subject as anything else. (well that and ideal infrastructure as well)

http://www.furaffinity.net/gallery/themnax/

of course there are other and better examples too, such as cabin porn and on pinterest and really too numerous to mention.

Ideally? Probably something like a viking hall house with a couple wings each with a different purpose in mind The first floor or great hall will be for dining and entertaining guests and would be the focus of the whole thing with wings branching off for specific functions. A wing for cooking, another serving as a library/study, one serving as an armory, and finally maybe a workshop to top it all off. The second floor would be were the bedrooms are at enough for a guest or two, my spouse, and finally my lineage. The attic would serve for storage and so would roughly 2/3 of the basement. The remaining third of the basement would host a laundry room and finally a bathroom which would have a huge communal bath for group bathing purposes.

Played a bit too much skyrim I'm guessing.

I want something built like a castle. With the building coming to the property line and a courtyard in the center with possibly a main building in attached to the back wall and towers on the corners.

Rustic chalet style home, a quaint one, deep in the mountains of the Northern Rockies would be ideal for me.
