Is the majority population indigenous to your nation? No, only about 17% of Salvatagardians are indigenous, according to the 2595 National Census.

If yes:
Are they proud of their heritage? Yes

Has there been a history of their oppression or removal from their land? Yes, first dating back when the Salvan Monarchy first set foot on land now owned by the SR over 23 centuries ago when they set out for colonies.

Have they ever conquered or colonized other nation's indigenous populations? Yes, multiple times.

Overall, how much does your people's indigenous heritage affect them, politics, and the nation in general? Yes, they control 17% of the National Electoral Vote.

If no:
Is there an indigenous group from the land your people inhabit? Yes, kinda. All are in the Governorates of Dsratchikirtha and Duronistan, which holds 0.06% of the SR's land, 130,000 sq miles.

If so, have they been repressed by the majority? Yes.

Have they been removed from their land? Yes.

Is there active resistance to the majority's rule over the indigenous population? There was back about 4 centuries ago after the 1st Bolshevik Regime collapsed in 2096. Because of that, the Governorates of Dsratchikirtha and Duronistan were created.

Is there conflict between indigenous groups and the majority? There was back about 4 centuries ago after the 1st Bolshevik Regime collapsed in 2096. Because of that, the Governorates of Dsratchikirtha and Duronistan were created.

Overall, how much does your people's foreign heritage affect them, politics, and the nation in general? They control most things on the Governorates of Dsratchikirtha and Duronistan. Most land and elections are controlled by descendants of the Salvan Colonialists.

Is the Military as an institution viewed positively or negatively by the public?
From a general standpoint, the military is viewed as an extension of the will of the Civitasian people. Within propaganda, the People's Armed Forces are shown in a proletarian light, as protectors revolutionary ideology. As such, the military is a healthy and well-funded institution that is viewed in a mostly positive light.

Are officers viewed positively or negatively?
Many ministers within the Baxton Administration have previously served in the People's Armed Forces, and are viewed as positive contributors to the national faith and to the government at large. On the whole, however, the people of Civitas have no cause to know who many officers are, personally, and so would mostly have little to no opinion of them.

What qualities are officers viewed as having?
Officers are generally viewed as brave, authoritative, pious, tough, and fanatically devoted to President Baxton and to the people of Socialist Civitas. It is their sworn duty to uphold the revolution and defend the will of the faithful.

Are soldiers viewed positively or negatively?
Soldiers who volunteer for service are viewed in an extremely positive light, as they are giving up many personal freedoms and comforts in order to defend the socialist cause and the Catholic mission of Civitas. Conscripted soliders and penal offenders forced into military service are treated equally in theory within the Army, but are often looked down upon as weak by the men around them.

What qualities are soldiers viewed as having?
Soldiers are viewed as valiant, heroic, selfless, committed to their country, the revolution, their President, and most importantly, to their Lord Jesus Christ.

How does the Military influence society?
The military has much influence within both the state and in Civitasian society, with the military structure being upheld as an efficient and honourable way of organising many an institution and family unit. The Civitasian government combines this with a national faith and a strong, definable socialist ideal.

How does society influence the Military?
The military is specifically religious and faith-based in nature, and is also devoted to the protection of revolutionary ideology and the ideal of Christian socialism and communism.

Are there any festivals linked to the Military?
Yes, there is an annual taxpayer-funded military parade.

POST BUS
The General Post Office operates a number of 'post bus' routes where mail delivery from sorting offices to individual post offices for delivery is combined with the transport of passengers. These stagecoach services are operated by postmen who deliver the mail to rural communities which lack other omnibus, coach or railway services. The stagecoaches used are able to seat six passengers, as well as full mail sacks for the distribution by local postmen at the villages along the route. The stagecoach service provides an important service in rural Nortend and Hambria where they operate, with the fare being a penny per village travelled, with villages located between a mile and twenty miles asunder depending on the route. Children and pensioners are entitled to half fares.

POST CODES
The General Post Office does not require the use of post codes in addressing ordinary letters, parcels, aerogrammes &c. however it is recommended. Post codes are assigned for every delivery area, which corresponds to local post offices, which are those post offices whence postmen operate to deliver the post to individual houses. Post codes are based on region, with the first two numbers indicating the postal county, the third character indicating the postal hundred, and the last character the individual local post office. Characters can be either letters or numbers. The postal county number is the same as the county's STD number. Therefore 524B indicates Larkshire (52), Hundred of Hansortham (4), and the local post office of Ensdale Cobbel (B).

What music does your leader generally listen to? all types, though the general population often listen to cultural and classical music.
Does your leader play an instrument? No
If he/she does play an instrument, then which one?
If he/she does play an instrument, is your leader particularly skilled at it?

Anything noteworthy related to your leader and music:

In Jacrain, all music is played at 432 hz tuning (rather than the 440 hz tuning we normally listen to), in fact it has been made a law to play all music (rather it be on YouTube, movies, radios, music apps, performances, etc) at a frequency of 432 hz. Even western music is played on this frequency. So Jacrainese people play everything and listen to everything at a 432 hz tuning. Playing at 440 hz music is illegal and can even result in heavy fines. Music at 528 hz is also acceptable to play, and is played in some city states, rather than 432 hz.

How easy/difficult is your nation's language?

Postby Estado Novo Portugues » Thu Apr 18, 2019 6:30 am

This is a survey for the difficulty of learning your nation's language (real or conlang), in terms of writing, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and resources. Name of language: Portuguese (português)
Language family: Romance
Is this language natural or invented? natural
Text direction (left-to-right or right-to-left)? left-to-right

Writing and pronunciation

Which alphabet or writing system does this language use (or primary, if multiple)? Latin
How many different letters or characters are there? 26
Can the sound of a word be predicted from its spelling? The pronunciation of Portuguese is not as intuitive as Spanish or Italian. Unstressed vowels are reduced to /ə/, so a word like meninos ("boys") sounds more like "mnins". However, the rules for stress and vowel reduction are consistent, so a particular word will always be pronounced the same way.
Can the spelling of a word be predicted from its sound? Only the consonants and stressed vowels.
Does this language have word stress? yes
Does stress follow a fixed pattern (first/last/xth syllable, etc), or is it different for each word? Generally the penultimate (second from last) syllable, but for words ending in {-l -r -z}, it is the last syllable. If the stress is on the "wrong" syllable, that vowel will have an acute accent.
Does this language have tones? no
How many different tones are there?
Does this language have sounds or sound combinations that are difficult for non-native (or even native) speakers? Portuguese has nasal vowels, for example in the word nação ("nation"). This is a feature shared with French, but absent in sister languages like Spanish and Galician. There is also the rolled R sound (alveolar trill), which is not easily mastered unless you learn it at an early age.

Grammar

Is the word order fixed or variable? Generally fixed, subject + verb + object. However, questions can be made by swapping the positions of the subject and verb. For example, Você fala português ("You speak Portuguese") can become Fala-você português? ("Do you speak Portuguese?").
Do words have a gender? yes
Which of the following genders are used?
[x] Masculine
[x] Feminine
[] Neutral
Do verbs have different forms ("conjugations") depending on who does the action (for example: I am, you are, he is)? yes
Which of the following conjugations are used?
[x] First-person singular (I)
[x] Second-person singular (you)
[x] Third-person singular (he/she/it)
[x] First-person plural (we)
[x] Second-person plural (you/y'all)
[x] Third-person plural (they)
Do nouns have different forms ("cases") depending on how they're used in a sentence? No, Portuguese and most Romance languages have lost all cases except for inflected pronouns.
Which of the following cases are used?
[] Nominative
[] Genitive
[] Dative
[] Accusative
[] Instrumental
[] Locative
[] Vocative
Do words have a plural form? yes

Who cannot rise to positions of leadership? Everyone except the God-Empress.

Do your nation's citizens prefer to live in city centers, city suburbs, towns, or rural areas?: Our citizens live in large arcologies, managed by teams of AI coordinators. From your list, I suppose our people prefer living in the city centres
What is the percentage of YN's people that lives in city centers?: 100%, as everyone on the ring lives in an arcology
What is the percentage of YN's people that lives in city suburbs?: 0%
What is the percentage of YN's people that lives in towns?: 0%
What is the percentage of YN's people that lives in rural areas?: 0%
What mode of transportation does YN's people prefer to commute to work?: Our people don't really 'work', in the sense more primitive civilisations understand the term. That said, people usually walk to their occupation/hobby, unless it is in another arcology in which case, they'll take the Vac (a hyperloop-type transport system) to their desired destination
What are apartments/condominiums like in YN?: Spacious, with access to all the required social services and large community park balconies
What are suburban houses and houses in towns like in YN?: N/A
What are houses in rural areas like in YN?: N/A

Illi Visitationes
The Visitations, or in Latin, Illi Visitationes, are annual circuits of made by the bishop with his archdeacons, to every parish of the diocese in order to ascertain the status of the parish, to try accused heretics and to perform administrative rites such as consecration and confirmation. The Quæstiones are a set of questions on the faith which parishioners are given to answer in the form of a trial of the ordinary in the Archdeacon's Court. They include simple questions such as “How many gods does the Church teach?” and “Who is the patron saint of this parish”, and also serve as a review of the priest's work, including questions such as “Does the ordinary habitually dress in seemly clothes?” and “Do you understand your ordinary's sermons?”.

I. Questions of Place.

Describe the geography of where your society calls home. We live on a relatively small rotating habitat called Jaiana Station, which is in orbit around a Jupiter-sized gas giant called Siebe. The station is one of dozens in orbit around Siebe, while our system itself is home to millions of space habitats, several Orbitals, and 14 colonised planets and moons. Our habitat has a diameter of 1,000km, while the width of the inside edge is just 50km. This provides us with a total surface area (on the habitation level - there are numerous levels below the 'surface' which are reserved for manufacturing, transport, etc) of 157,079.5km2, of which 78,530km2 is land. Most of the land is covered in dense forests, with an arcology rising above the treetops every so often. The land is mostly quite flat, except for the general curvature of the structure itself, and the seas are shallow
Describe the climate your society deals with. How severe are their seasons? The climate is warm, and wet, like the tropics on Earth. Seasonal extremes are mitigated by changes to the orbital mirrors in order to offset them
What kinds of natural disasters has this society gotten used to? None, natural disasters imply a failure of the climate control mechanisms and - should they occur - will not be repeated
What importance (spiritual or cultural) do people ascribe to the geography? Culturally, the geography is extremely important. Those who live in the arcologies, (ie most people) are considered to be the Jaianese culture. Those who live outside, such as the Roamers in the forests and the Aquamod Humans in the seas have their own social organisations and unique cultural outlooks
How do people feel about local landscapes being altered or used for a purpose other than what is traditional? In general, we're not hugely concerned about tradition. As the population slowly grows, more arcologies are built and more surface area is used by the Jaianese, but this is a long process
What are the most commonly-grown foods? Genetically engineered vegetables, fruits, nuts, etc. Vat-grown meat is also quite popular
What are the most commonly-eaten meats? We have a wide variety of vat-grown meat available for Jaianese consumption
What foods are considered exotic or expensive? Anything grown off-station is considered "exotic", but not necessarily better
What forms of alcohol are common? Rare? Alcohol in general is uncommon, thanks to each individuals' ability to manufacture all kinds of mind-altering chemicals internally
Is there usually enough food and water for the population? Yes, of course
What is this place's most abundant resource? Energy, harvested directly from the Void, which can then be transformed into any material required
What is its most valuable resource? Again, energy
What resource is it most lacking? N/A, we want for nothing
How do people travel from one place to another? Underground hyperloop-like travel tubes are most common, but we have a variety of personal transportation devices which fly, glide and float as well as the ability to walk
Are the borders secure? In what way? Yes, in that we're a space habitat which is impossible to reach without anybody knowing about it
How many people live here? Around 15,710,121 standard/near-standard Humans, 110,337 Aquamod Humans, 215 full AIs, 160 others (mostly Roamers)
Where in this place do they congregate? The Jaianese congregate in our arcologies, the Aquamods in their submerged citadels and the Roamers in their forested meeting places (although they are generally a solitary, wandering species)
What part of this place do they avoid? Why? We avoid bothering our neighbours, but are otherwise free to wander
What are the most common domesticated animals here? And what are they domesticated for? The Dalpryn, similar in many ways to dogs, fill the social niche of "humans' best friend"
What are the most common wild animals? How are wild animals treated? A variety of pseudo-wild animals exist in the forests and the seas. They are actively managed by AI coordinators
Which animals are likely to be pets? Which ones won't be? The aforementioned Dalpryn, although really any animals which respond well to domestication are likely kept by someone or other
What are the most common domesticated plants here? And what are they used for? Food plants are domesticated and used to feed the Jaianese
What are the most common wild plants here? What are they used for? The plants of the forests are wild but not really 'used' for anything
