United Earth: Political RP

After the first union of the earth exactly one hundred years ago in 1919, separatist groups and rogue nations rose up against what was seen to be a tyrannical world state. These "rogue nations" as they were labelled were nations that refused to join this world government. Nations like the Japanese Empire and Ethiopia to name a few. This prompted the United Earth to form the Council of Leaders, a council of 10 political leaders acting with practically absolute power. The years that followed for the majority of the 20th century was bloodshed, genocide and oppression of the ethnicities of the separatists and rogue nations. Because of this, there was no worldwide conflict in the century however there were more subtle conflicts that were to subdue the rogue nations that attempted to separate.

Then, The United Earth finally turned to democracy in the year 2019. Endless pressure from the people that this dictatorial state could not handle finally toppled the regime. The former dictator-like Council of Leaders has had the majority of its powers taken and instead formed into a democratic parliament. There is hope for world peace.

This new Council of Leaders is planned to have elected representatives that are elected by the people. The party with the most seats of the 500 in government will be crowned the ruling party, and its leader the Prime Minister. This Prime Minister is to appoint ministers that are assigned to specific aspects (economy, justice etc.). The Prime Minister has the authority to issue national emergencies if needed, although other than that they are merely the figurehead of their party.

The creation of political parties has now been allowed. The first ever election of the United Earth will be held shortly. Crowds gather around Paris, the capital. 7 billion people watch as this new government will be decided.

You have the chance to be a part of this political scene. Create a party, or join one that another character has made. It is completely your choice.

Rules (nothing much, but we gotta have them):

2. Keep it realistic to the time period
3. Don’t take stuff personally if another player wins over you or their character/party insults yours
4. Be nice. Don’t have to really elaborate here
5. Try to post regularly. If you don’t post for 4+ days then someone else may take a portion of your party’s seats
6. If I (Arkhastok) or anyone else say something in the RP violates a rule, please stop whatever you have been called out for. We’re all trying to have a great time

There will be five major parties, most likely the first five to post an application but if ideologies are similar then it would have to be switched up so the game isn’t completely dominated by one ideology.

I am considering making a historical timeline for this world if there are enough applicants.

See, the deal is that I live in that part of the world, give or take a hundred miles but whenever I try and represent that part of the world, it often ends up getting taken!
