Measles Outbreak at 2nd Highest Level in 25 Years

Postby Thermodolia » Mon Apr 15, 2019 7:57 am

The measles outbreak in the US has reached the 2nd highest level in 25 after 90 new cases where reported in one week. There are now 555 cases of measles in the US and the year is still not over. This is according to new data from the CDC concerning the current measles outbreak. There is some worry that this outbreak might be more deadly and spread more rapidly than before.

At this point anyone who doesn’t have a legitimate medical reason to not be vaccinated needs to be vaccinated. We must remove any child from any home who refuses to vaccinate them. Those who refuse to vaccinate their children should be charged with attempted murder and child abuse. Enough is enough.

Also spreading anti-vaxx propaganda should be treated as bio-terrorism

There’s a lot of that going around it seems.
According to the WHO, cases in Europe tripled in 2018, and there’s currently an outbreak in Madagascar that’s infected 115000+ and killed 1200+

Why are these anti-vax idiots blind to the fact that their stupidity is causing a resurgence in a disease that was once declared eradicated in the US? What’s next? Polio? Do we need to start manufacturing iron lungs again?

According to this blog, over 25% of anti-vax parents (compared to 18% of anti-vax non-parents) would rather their children die than have autism, in a questionnaire they performed.

Methodology is outlined at the bottom of the article.

Because unfortunately the people in power have given them a voice. Trump has questioned the validity of vaccines on multiple occasions, former NJ governor Chris Christie is openly anti-vaxx.

A lot of celebrities are also anti-vaxx or have questioned the validity of vaccines

Why has no one proposed removal of children or charging parents with child abuse if the solution is so simple in your view?

Maybe there are legal reasons you can't do it and being anti vaccine doesnt meet the definition of abuse?

Because usually nobody fights mandatory vaccines. Taking a child away is when the parents refuse the mandatory vaccination order.

And there have been many cases where children where removed because of the refusal to vaccinate

Maybe there are legal reasons you can't do it and being anti vaccine doesnt meet the definition of abuse?

Theres no legal reason why you can’t take children from abusive homes. Refusing to vaccinate your child is child neglect and therefore child abuse. We’ve explained this to you several times.

Give a example of case because I've never heard of one.

Why has no one done it then?

A Parent doesn't deserve to have any kids if they'd prefer them dead to autistic.

I argued with someone online about that. She told me I was mental because I said I’d rather have my kid be autistic than have measles.

We’ve removed children from abusive homes all the time. Unfortunately there are people who think that the child is better off with their abusers than not and so they hold the prevailing views of removal from abusive homes.

While it’s not vaccines it’s close to it https://www.abc15.com/news/region-south ... over-fever

When people begin to believe celebrities with zero scientific experience over thousands of peer-reviewed journals, then that’s a sign the education system needs some work in the science department.

That is a very weak argument Lumen. Politics are in no way simple and good solutions are passed over all the time.

There’s literally nothing stopping the government from removing children from abusive homes. If children can be removed because they have high grade fevers and the parents don’t give a shot then they can be removed because the parents refused to follow a mandatory vaccination order.

And ya did.

i'm not in favor, generally, of removing individual choice.
but the 'kid' is an individual and should be afforded the choice of other options.
on his or her own. NOT just the option of the parents.

how young? 3 or 4 years is not too young to be given options, provided they are not irreversible ones.

i'm not an anti-vaxer. i'm not pro anti-vax.
but are anti-vaxers the whole problem, or are we being hasty to jump on the blame wagon,
instead of looking first for solutions that don't require it?

when i was little, vaccinations were free, in public schools, for every kind in public school,
and everyone, unless they had a note from home, AND signed by their doctor, received them.

how, why and when did that change?

i hated and feared, the idea, of a sharp pointed needle being pushed through my skin.
what i didn't entirely believe or understand, was that real epidemics really were being prevented by doing so,
that lots of real people really would not only get very sick, but actually die, without them.

i really don't like the idea of forcing anyone to do anything.
to not do things that would hurt each other, yes, but to have to actually do something, to take some initiative action themselves,
i fail to find a distinction from slavery.

but i am willing to grant, the epidemics, and even the potential for epidemics, are a special case.
one that keeps me from weighing in too heavily on either side of this issue.

the free vaccinations in public schools was a solution, that existed when i was in school, and it worked.

And the thing is, a lot of those children raised by anti-vaxxers grow up and go get vaccinated. It’s hilarious to read the parents’ complaints on social media. They act like their kid is injecting heroin or something.
