Once they had set themselves up, they might notice the commotion outside.
Yelling, a crash even, a squeak, then another crash.
All of that happened downstairs, in the ground floor, which was followed by more yelling.
Down there, they would be able to see one of the restaurant's waitresses, holding a struggling animal, a black-furred vulpine, who was struggling in the hold of the wiatress, while two more employees of the house were looking rather pissed.
That one of them had a rather nasty looking scratch mark on the cheek might have something to do with it.

The girls gave the money to the recepcionist as she took care of the rest of the formalities and handed them an cheap key to an cheap room, in the eyes of the girls that was kinda possible considering it wasn't the best place to stay and neither the most expensive on all the city.

Once they were in their room they could see why the cheap price of this room, a kinda wide bed, a small cupboard, chair looking to an smile window and... Nothing more, they just continued with setting themselves leaving their package in their bed meanwhile Lise kept her violin with her in her case as she placed it in a purse where it would be more safe on her eyes.

Trinity was kinda glad that it wasn't that bad since she thought it would be not so decent for the price, of course that thought was ended with the crash, yelling, squeaks downstairs. Both of the girls sighed and went to check what happened downstairs in the restaurant.

"You got to be kidding" Trinity said as she looked the scene of all the scandal. "Have I went crazy or it's true what I'm seeing???" she said looking at Lise which just sighed.

"Nope. You aren't crazy it is happening" she said as they found the culprit of this.

It resulted that the animal which the waitress was holding although with some struggle since that vulpine wanted to escape the lady arms, two other workers were pissed and the answer was in the checks of one of them since the animal gave it an scratch mark on it... The question now is???

"Can I ask who let the vulpine enter??" Lise asked as she kept watching the scene.

The Selkie looked up, the one with the scratch replying angrily: “No one, that's the bloody problem!”
“Duncan...”, his colleague cautioned.
“Sorry, Misses.”, said hotel worker said, still angry, but not snapping. “Darn thing is a Little Black Fox, a pest. They raid trashbins and the likes, but sometimes, they even intrude into houses!” He glared at the little animal, which had stopped squirming as he had become aware of the waitress holding him tight. “Best to drown them in a barrel!!”
Lise might know these animals: Cel had two of that kind with her in Shella. She mentioned, that she bred and cared for them as an employee of a shop, also rescued them.
“No.”, the waitress said categorically. “They are under Abhcan's protection. And today is the day of the Sacred Spring Festival.”
“Bah! The Vixen can kiss my rear after this!”, Duncan replied, pointing to his cheek, “Besides, whatcha gonna do with it? Snuggle it to death?”
The waitress blushed scarlet as she became acutely aware of the little vulpine quite enjoying itself in her arms, or more specifically between her breasts. Blushing scarlet, her arms relaxed a slight bit.
Lax enough for the fox to give a hearty push and release itself.
A moment later, the action almost restarted – but instead of going for one of the doors, like Duncan assumed, the little vulpine hid behind Lise's legs, looking up to her with big, blue eyes and an expression, which tugged on the heartstrings.
These meanies wanna drown me for trying to get something to eat! Please, Miss, help me!, it seemed to say.

"Well... if you have time later today, at 4 p.m., Donny and his lads and lassies make a demonstration at the Middle Bastion. It's later today, in the afternoon, but..."
She shrugged.

"Well, I do hope so. If we don't start fallin all in love and such, he is nice and I wouldn't mind being in friend."

"Sounds like fun. So we'd love to join." Charlie agreed on behalf of everyone. "In the meantime, you sticking around more or got other things to do? We don't really have many plans, we just came to experience what we can."

"Pleasure to meet cha!", she said with a cheer, "I'm Rona!"
Her mother smiled at the enthusiasm. "Indeed, our pleasure, Tsukasa, Mei. I am Mavie.", she introduced herself with a small bow, "Are you two traveling together? A big round trip or just a few days of Cuan?"

"Rona, what a pretty name!" Mei beamed. "And Mavie sounds very nice too! Yup we're a couple she and I, just got in. We're going to be sticking to Cuan, I'm afraid, once this is done we're back to school, the both of us."

"Aha, yeah" Tsukasa chuckled "High school, the both of us. We're just about finished."

"It's our autumn vacation right now."

Pina nodded.
“I was actually going to get him...”, she said and pointed to Lorgaire, “...to the Petting Zoo, which they have on the Mion Square. A lot of cute and cuddly animals, a lot of small and big kids wanting to cuddle them and a lot of brushies!”
She grinned, glancing to the kids.
“Might even be something for Billy and Joey as well?”, she suggested.

Mavie nodded.
“High School, shortly before graduation – not bad.”, she said, “If it is anything like my graduation, it will be easier then everyone says.” Rona looked from one to the other, Mavie looking at her with pride. “She's a Cub, in her first year of elementary.”
“But from next Monday onwards, I'll be a second year!”, Rona cheered.

Port Ember wrote:Jan was silent for more than a few moments. Jan was an exceptionally smart man, a 'real strategic genuis' as he was labeled back home, a planner amongst planners.. a visionary. But here he was - shocked. He did NOT see this coming. For the first time in his entire life, he was without something smart to say. Or anything to say really. Jan sat down on the chair by the dresser, his legs feeling a lot older than he thought they were.

His brain ran overtime, it would have probaly overheated and burned out if it was a mechanical part. But a few moments later his brain felt like it was struck with lightning, his entire life clear, fresh and anew.

He quickly stood up, placed his hand gently on Gwen's stomach and spoke in a very calm and softish tone "well darlin' its obvious that you are keepin' it. I like that.. I would very much like to have it.. and you.. in my life.." His one eye kept a watchfull eye on the magnificent canine on the bed, not wanting to be mauled to death for touching his master.

Gwen was almost offended, if she wouldn't have been so happy.
She was not standing alone!
If he wanted it or not, she would have carried the baby to term, no matter what – that was a cultural thing, Selkie did not abort, except under very special circumstances – but he was standing by her!
That made everything easier.
A rush of hormones, which brought tears to her eyes, did not stop her from raising her hand, so that the Grey Wolf did not move. His growl died in his throat.
Still... his hand on her stomach made her crack. Tears began to flow – and she, soon, flew into his arms, wrapping them around his neck and burying her face in the small of his neck.
They were tears of joy.

"I build things, mostly. Toys and other small mechanical things.", he said and reached into his pocket, putting a small thing of wood onto the table. It was revealed to be, as he pressed a small button on the side, a little music box, playing a soft melody, which repeated quickly. "I am fairly good, but I still have much to learn."
He smiled slightly at Haru.
"Family is important.", he said, "And that little music box is actually for my little sis."

"Aww that's very sweet of you. It's such a nice music box too, you are very crafty, I can tell."

"It's very pretty and the sound is very good if you ask me" Hina nodded in agreement.

The Selkie wrote:Branwen nodded with energy.
"I could not agree more!", she said with enthusiasm, "Good characters drive not only the story, but they make the characters relateable. If the reader can't relate to the story, the story is not going to be effective."
"And if a story is not effective, then why should you read it?", her older sister added.
"Exactly!", Branwen agreed.

"Well spoken! Well listen, I don't know if you two have plans today but you know, I wouldn't mind spending some more time with you both. Maybe show a silly tourist like myself just what the good Selkie people are all about!? And we can share a nice cup of tea together too, My treat!"

Leonard blushed slightly.
“T-Thank you.”, he said with a small smile, listening to the melody, “I'm sure, that she'll think something similar.”
It was right then, when the waitress reappeared, smiling as she put the Battered Fish and the porridge with fish in front of the recepients, then a plate with the hefty Selkie-Breakfast in front of Leonard. He grinned, thanked her in Selkie, she replied in the same language and bent down to kiss Leonard onto the cheek.
He blushed, she giggled.
“Good appetite, everyone!”, she added and went off.
Leonard cleared his throat. “Well... if you want to speak your graces, please do.”, he offered and waited in respectful silence.

Branwen came near death again, which caused her sister to chuckle.
“We would be honoured, Miss Gozen.”, the older one said, “By the way, I am Elin. Elin Blaidd, of Tralee Descent. You already know my little sister, Branwen.” Her voice was calm, respectful, mature. “Though we are both Selkie and of the Spiorad Ainmhithe, young by our standards, we will show you around.”
She smiled softly, the animal ears on her head twitching.
“So... what would you like to see first?”, Elin said with a smile.

Polish Prussian Commonwealth wrote:Marie stumbled into the shop, before noticing the conspicuous lack of any staff.
She blinked twice and turned to Kiah. “Miss...where’s the staff? Or does this store run on the honor system?”
Ordinarily alarms would be going off in Marie’s head, and her hand would be drifting to her trench dagger. But she had forgotten to pack it, and even if she did, pure exhaustion had muffled her senses.

Kiah smiled and wanted to reply, that he was in, otherwise the door would be closed, as a voice took care of that: “Oh, I am in, young lady.”, the old man, who entered through a side-door, “Honour is good, but honour can not buy bread.”
Kiah grinned, moved forward, into the waiting arms of the old gentleman, who gave her a quick hug, the young woman kissing him onto the cheek. It was as if they were almost family.
“So...”, the old man, white haired and with a long beard, said and looked at Marie, “You look as if you need to wake up.”
“That's what we're here for.”, Kiah confirmed with a nod.
“Yes, I have a few things for that.”, the old man said, then nodded, “Right... Miss, how do you react to coffee?”

MInroz wrote:“Aww…” Lianhua moaned unhappily, looking slumped. She felt she’s being rejected. Tieguang, being a good husband, moves in to give her a small hug.

[“There, there, my love. Don’t worry, the wolf is just being shy.”] Tieguang reassured her.

“Mh…” She could only hum in silence. For those who worked with her in the military on professional basis, they wouldn’t believe her to be capable of being outwardly girly. General Sun Lianhua was known in the Eight-Banners to be a strict commander. Those who knew her personally, she’s also a living being with feelings.

Getting back to archery, Tieguang, in response to Aydin could only hummed in thoughts. Scratching his chin, the brunette made his choice.

“I’m thinking of going for the composite bow, my people were more familiar with them anyway.” He said. “Back in the ancient days, my country uses crossbows as infantry weapons than archers. We have one design that pretty much shoots arrows like a machine gun, believe it or not.”

Ayden nodded.
“I think, that I read about them once or twice.”, he admitted, “Interesting devices. We used Crossbows as well, although Repeating Crossbows were something we never had. No, our crossbows had one shot and needed to be reloaded after that. Ideal weapons against the horsemen we are so famous for... who used mostly bows.”
He smiled and took out the composite bow, made the string taut and handed him the weapon. As he had taken it, a quiver with a dozen arrows followed, together with a vambrace of leather and a thumb ring.
“Don't know, if you need them, but I would recommend them.”, he said, “Once you have everything on, you can proceed to the gallery.”

Fiona took the hug, wrapped her arms around Miranda.
The call was finished, Kathleen had her directions and the name of the bakery, but no matter what, Fiona was not disappointed in Miranda - she was disappointed in herself. That Kathleen did not depend on anyone, and neither did Miranda, was not a problem.
That they were friends was not a problem either.
Fiona, once she had settled into the hug, exhaled deeply, tension visibly leaving her body.
And then she said something, which she could have slapped herself for: "Your hair smells nice..."

Shivers ran up Miranda's spine.

She had felt similar things before, whenever she felt Kathleen's touch, whenever she saw a particularly interesting girl. It was difficult to describe alone, but whenever she read books like Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, or Wuthering Heights, it was a similar feeling described about whenever a woman fell in love with a man. Aside from the difference that they were both girls, everything was the same. It puzzled and bothered her to no end, despite the fact that she could be quite imaginative in her best of times.

Still, she couldn't deny that she felt a little bit warmer hugging Fiona, and her abdomen felt like it was about to burst with butterflies.

Minutes flew by, Miranda processing what Fiona said. She followed her instinct to take a deep breath while she was still hugging the girl. She took in the scent for a few moments, pondering... processing. In a voice that sounded a bit stuttered in a flustered state, she said, "Th-Thank you, yours smells good, t-too." She had no idea what was going on what she was feeling, where all of this was going, or whether or not they were heading to the bakery or waiting in the streets.

But she knew someway, somehow, she done goofed up, and made things awkward between the two girls, as she stood there, hugging Fiona and blushing furiously in a deep crimson.

The Arrowmaiden standing by the door in full armour nodded to Liv and Kat with a small smile before she looked forward again, keeping guard in full armour, with bowcase on the hip, a quiver on the back and a lance in the hand. Liv was quite sure, that she also had daggers somewhere.
In any case, she opened the door into the ground level of the side building, into the common area. A large, massive, wooden table was there, benches around it - and people, maybe a dozen, wearing Geansais, different robes, all in all things, which would make it clear to Liv, that she wasn't the only 'intruder'.
"Ah, Livvy!", one of the men at the table said and rose, approaching her and Kat. "Good to see you join us!" He was a tall, broad shouldered, middle aged man, who gave Liv a hug, which she took with a grin. Then his eyes fell onto Kat. "Ah, you must be... Cat, right? Liv spoke much about you."
"Kat, if I may introduce?", Liv said, "That's Finnegan, the Right Hand Man of High Priestess Ardsagart."
"Pleasure to meet you!", Finnegan said.

Katherine stood in close proximity to Liv as she was hugged by the large, middle aged man. When he gaze landed on Katherine, she couldn't help but feel an aura of fatherly authority from the man. She nodded as he presumed who she was. All the while, her mind was screaming at the fact that she was practically backstage, in a bloody temple, in a bloody Spring Religious Ceremony, with her bloody girlfriend. She barely had any brain capacity left to even look up and around to marvel at the vast, grandiose historical architecture which came with a building as old as this, though not as old as the temple proper. Well, this went from 0 to 11 really quickly. Is this Liv's dad? Shit, this is too much to process. I thought we were going to get breakfast for Christ's sake! What the hell should I do?

She stood closer to Liv, but when he offered a handshake, she extended her own arm, and took it in stride, like a proper Mediaman would have done. "I'm Katherine Shelby. It's nice to meet you to u-umm, Father Finnegan?"

Katherine mentally facepalmed, Great, just great. So he's probably not her dad, but seriously? If he is, way to make a pun, he's supposed to be making the dad jokes! If not, welllll... fudge a freaking duck.

Being that Kat was protestant herself (well, loosely anyway, her parents made her go to church), and she knew of the French Catholics, combined with the fact that despite her travels, she still didn't have a full grasp on Selkie culture, she couldn't help but wish for god himself to snipe her from the heavens to end her misery over the potentially cultural gaff.

Still, a mistake was a mistake, and so she stood close to Liv, waiting to see how Finnegan would react, take her consequences, and figure out whether or not she may have accidently ruined her girlfriend's reputation within the cults of Selkie.

Fiona held Miranda a while after her reply, having blushed lightly.
She was, if she was honest, still in that weird phase of her development, when she did not know, what and how she liked, if she liked boys or girls or both... Cel had it far easier. She knew, what she liked and how she liked it, she had her boyfriend, her foxes...
Fiona? A couple of flings, with boys and girls, nothing more, and her Fidchell-Board. The Cubs were nice enough, teaching them was fun, but... they did already call her Fiona-tirim, Dry Fiona (how kids of six Springs came to call her that was beyond her, but she suspected some of the lads, which taught the Cubs as well).
Did Miranda have a chance to change that? Maybe.
Was it awkward right now? Oh, yes. Quite so, in fact.
A minute or two passed.
“So...”, she whispered to Miranda, her face still scarlet, “...still wanna go to that bakery without Kathleen?”

Finnegan laughed out loud, put a hand on both shoulders, amused, not angry.
“Father Finnegan, eh?”, he asked, grinning, “Has been a long time since someone called me that!” He let a beat pass, grinning even wider. “Finnegan or Finny is alright, Kat. I might be an Arcane Priest, but I'm not in an ivory tower!”
Liv grinned as well.
“Finnegan is an Arcane Priest at the Temple I am taught at... and the High Priestess' Right Hand. He, by formality, leads our delegation.”, she explained, “Sorry, should have told you...”
“Ah, no worries from anyone about anything! Today is the Spring Festival, the only thing you need to worry about is who you have the Spring Dance with!”, Finnegan said, then turned, “Come, both of you! Join us on the table! Breakfast is nearly out!”
Liv grinned, took Katherine's hand and softly ran her thumb along it. Everything was fine.
The table was already quite well-filled, a dozen people, most of them Selkie, from an old, ageing Priest to a kid of maybe two Springs, who sat on his mother's lap and was doted on by her and a woman in a tunic underneath a long, toga-like cloak.
She was definitely not a Selkie.
Liv took a spot for both of them next to the two of them, on the mother's other side, and next to Finnegan. Greetings floated their way.

At the lady's direction, they started to head down the street. Maude's horseshoes clicked and clacked off the hard ground as she trotted along with the wagon behind her. As she reached a steady pace, Jeremiah took a moment to loosen his grip on her reins and turn his head towards the lady next to him.

"Miss, my name is Jeremiah and I am obviously a blacksmith though I never got your name."

The woman smiled.
“Eithne.”, she said and bowed her head lightly, “Eithne Banphrionsa of the Tribe of Monaghan. I am the CEO of Áilleagán Limited and co-boss of Bicíní Industries with my husband. We produce toys and clothes.” She smiled and pointed to the boy, who was blushing scarlet behind Mona, who rode next to them, keeping pace. “That's my son, Ilia. He's just entering into puberty!”
She gave Jeremiah a wink, mischief in the other eye.
“And you already know Mona?”, she added.

Domingo Hasegawa
Láir Square

After Domingo paid for his breadroll with sausage, he took a seat on one of the benches. Keeping mostly to himself as he absorbed the atmosphere, he couldn't help but pull out his copy of Industrialist at Crossed Rivers, reading the book in between bites.

While not a smoker, he found himself intrigued when he reached the part where Samuel narrates his experience in one of the smoke shops. Curious himself, Domingo finished his roll before making a beeline for the Stoc Inn. He had a backpack that needed a safe hidey-hole, and he also planned on staying there for the night; hopefully, there was room for one more man.

"Oh, I'm thinking about political science or communication science. Maybe both.", she said and shrugged, "Or I study Trade and Industry with a specialization on Brewing. Beer and ales, mind you, not whiskey."

"Well, I think it's bein' done already. I mean, look at the lovely bastard," she then said as she indicated Alpin.

Meanwhile, Marie smiled at Enya's answer, especially at how cheerful she sounded.

"So, Hilda...", he said with a grin once that was done, looking at her, "...what have you been up to in the last few months?"

Láir Square.
Finnegan grinned, showed his right hand.
A thread of silk was wrapped around his little finger, shimmering in silver, a similar thread was around Amy's little finger.
"We'll be getting married, that's what!", he said with a grin, "The fun thing was, that we were snuggling and one of us began with the topic and at some point, we asked ourselves, if we wanted to marry and..."
"...and we agreed to get the engagement done the next day.", Enya finished the story, "When we asked my Dad, he threw up his hands and yelled: 'About bloody time!'"
"My parents were no less happy, but less vocal.", Finnegan added with a wide grin.

En route to the Marcach Camp.
Sophus grinned back - apart from the difference in marching distance, he was not entirely sure, whether or not the mooing of cattles would have been a solid alternative for his Commander's yelling - at least, on a long term, and this long distance, it surely wasn't.
"Well, you guys did have supplies, at least ..." - he said, joking of course, for those two things still were impossible to compare.
Leonard fixed the bags, his horse having no issues with it, then asked Hilda what she had been up to since the last time they had met.
She replied, "Well, more or less just madness as usual - switching around between school, home, and stable; pretty much normal everyday life. Apart from the Julfestchaos in December, of course. I think we've had that issue already."
Mia nodded. "Oh yes ... not to mention those things happening there, which really shouldn't be mentioned."
"Same procedure as every year" - Hilda said.

Láir Square.
Chris noticed the rings, nodded in approval, and had to grin at Finnegan's and Enya's respective parents' comments.
"Now that's some good news!" - he said, smiling. "Congratulations! If I may be honest, I've already wondered back then, in Dumhach, why this hasn't happened way sooner. Setting up a bet pool along these lines has been debated on amongst Janina, Dragan, and myself - but we rather agreed on just waiting for the right time to come in lieu of trying to win a few Salmons by it."
He shrugged, grinning.
"Apart from that, there was no talk about haste when the Gods created time - and: better late than never!"

Luca & Xoa'yi
"Ah, just a petting zoo this time," Xoa'yi commented as she examined the map, "No cute little girl for you to play with..." She bent down & pinched his cheeks.
"Aunt Xoa'yi!" Luca yelled out, pouting & blushing, "W-we were just friends, okay?" He instinctively stamped the ground as though he had a halberd in his hands, but Xoa'yi caught him instead as he had nothing to support him. "Okay, okay!" she said, "But just before we get going, I think we'll need something for you to, ah, hold onto!" He nodded as she stepped towards some hiking sticks for sale. "Hello there!" she greeted, her unintentionally condescending tone just a bit grating to the ears, "Might you guys have a child-sized walking stick for sale? Or just a small one? My nephew-in-law here is used to holding a halberd, but it's too much of a problem here, so of course..."

Miranda shuddered as she felt Fiona whisper in her ear. “S-Sure, Kathleen can find her way around places easily, and she has your directions to go off of. If anything, she still has Poogle Maps to resort to if she can’t find her way.”

Miranda gave a slight and brief nuzzle before she broke off from Fiona. She then, despite the embarrassing interactions so far, offered her hand out.

Even if this was proving to be a disaster worthy of a ten minute farce for the sake of comedy before the main show, Miranda had a sort of morbid curiousity in seeing how this would turn out, and whether or not an answer can be found if they were to talk in private.

And so, she stood there with her hand out for Fiona to hold, “Shall we go, my dear Fiona fair?”

Katherine internally sighed in relief as all she got in response was a laugh in jest. She couldn’t help but give a little chuckle as well at his bit of saying he wasn’t an ivory tower.

She then leaned into Liv and whispered, “I-It’s alright, I should’ve read more about Selkie, or at least remember some of the things you wrote to me.” She stroked Liv’s bridge of her nose as she led them over to a spot on the table between an old priest and a child with his mother.

As they sat down, the Mediaman returned their dinergoers greetings. She looked over at the woman and her child wearing toga-like clothing, clashing violently with the traditional Selkie cult dress. At least I’m not the only lass that’s a foreigner. she mused.

Once they settled in, and as they waited for some sort of grace to be said, Kat turned to Liv and said, “So, there’s some sort of Spring Dance that goes along with this as well? What’s it like?”

Jan Breytenbach with Gwen

Jan loved seeing Gwen so happy, and loved feeling her touch, and smelling her scent once more. Jan held Gwen tight, pressed against his muscular body, attempting to give her physical reasurance, that everything is going to be okay. He remained silent like this for quite a few moments, soaking up the euphoria of the situation.

After the dark and tragic loss of his old family, Jan was extremely blessed to be given an oppertunity to start over. He still barely even knew Gwen, yet he knew she was his soulmate. His life partner. The mother of his unborn child.

He slightly undid his grasp so that he could stare deep into his lovers eyes. He slowly and softly said the word "Mommy!" before flashing a large smile, followed with a deep passionste kiss.

Stoc Inn.
The waitress, who was fighting back the blush, gave Duncan a warning glare.
He raised his hands in the international gesture of surrender.
Thus satisfied, the waitress turned to Lise.
"The person you should be looking for, if you seek knowledge about the Blackies is a certain Gawain Folaíochta, of Wicklow's Tribe.", she said, "He breeds domesticated Blackies generally sells things if you have a vulpine pet. He is also, as rumour has it, the employer of Celina Treorai..." She sighed. "...who also sings at the only Inn in town, that will surely accept you and the little lad, if they have a room free. The Cluanaire Inn, owned by a Finnegan Úinéir of the Tribe of Louth."
She let a beat pass.
"Duncan, can you...?", she asked of the waiter, who handed her a tourist map of Cuan. Unfolding it, the waitress marked both locations with a ballpen, as well as the Stoc Inn. The routes seemed simple enough, but led through some side-alleys and off the beaten paths.
Meanwhile, the Blackie was almost docile and calm in Lise's arms, even going so far as to snuggle a bit into her.

New Visayan Islands wrote:Domingo Hasegawa

The Stoc Inn was a bit off the beaten paths, far enough so that the trip would take a bit.
But what a trip it was: On the main streets, which were undeniably part of the festival, he was in a crowd moving like the seas, between masses of people talking and chatting and having fun.
The moment he left them, though, it was free, he had room to breathe in the narrow streets, cobbled and with quite the quality to it, too. The windows were mostly dark, but not because the houses were uninhabited, but because the people living there weren't at home - flower pots and boxes told that.
The people he met and saw there left him alone, mostly working on some thing or the other, nodding into his direction in the best of cases, ignoring or not noticing him in the worst.
He also saw one curiosity of Selkie-Architecture in cities, especially in the Mór-Land: While the individual houses were separated into work- and living-areas, for example the ground floor being a carpenter's shop, the second and third being for living, there were multiple 'flats' up there. Those had their own entrance, not by a stair-house but by a semi-open hallway, which had the flats' front doors going off.
And not only that: In some cases, these walkways were connected by 'bridges' between the different houses, creating a second maze above the first that were the seemingly unplanned streets of Cuan.
Streets, where the streetsigns were written in Selkie-Runes, not Latin Letters.

"Oh looks delightful." Haru and Hina both agreed when their food came. Both thanked their server and Leonard graciously offered a moment of giving grace. There's was a simple putting their hands together and a quick saying of gratitude "Thank you for the food." And both could begin eating their food. And it was cooked to perfection, excellent choices they made.

"Mr. Leonard," Hina asked "Might I ask, you said you had a sister, how old is she? Is she here for the festival or back where you said you arrived from?"

The Selkie wrote:Branwen came near death again, which caused her sister to chuckle.

"Ah I'm so delighted!" Shizuka was thrilled the two ladies would spend the day with her. "Elin, nice to meet you! And again to you, Branwen. Such nice names, I really like them! Anyway, no preference, I'll see what I can when I can, but I think I've been in the crowds quite a bit so maybe something a bit off the beaten path for a while?"

Leonard fought his blush down.
"Oh, please, just Leonard is fine.", he said and then smiled, "My Sis' name is Darufa, she's turning twelve today, a few years younger then me. She's also actually my half-sister - born to my Mam and her second husband." He shrugged. "I still love her as if she was my sis."
He cut his own food.
"Very good stuff...", he commented, then turned back to the conversation, smiling at Hina. "She's going to be one of the toughest lassies the world has ever known!"

"Hm...", Elin made with a small smile, tapping her finger against her mouth, thinking. "Something off the beaten paths..."
Branwen's face lit up more then it already had, as she had an idea: "How about we go to the Scodalaigh?", she proposed, "The Stilted Quarter - not famous, but very interesting, part of Cuan's history as a river-harbour and place for building the river ships."
Elin nodded. "Sounds nice. What to you think, Miss Gozen?", she asked Shizuka.

Folaisia wrote:Alpin narrowed his eyes in discombobulation, before considering his words.

"Uh, what?"

Fiona held the same reaction, though she shook her head as if blocking the words coming from Ida's mouth. Then, she turned to Kiah as the Selkie woman enunciated her plan.

"Well, I think it's bein' done already. I mean, look at the lovely bastard," she then said as she indicated Alpin.

Meanwhile, Marie smiled at Enya's answer, especially at how cheerful she sounded.

"Good, good. You have interests," she nodded, "but," her tone now descending to what sounds like motherly seriousness, "you must be able to pick one that makes you happier even more. Or, just like mysel', you can pick one that you want to major in in university, and pick some other subjects as minors. You still have time, seein' as though you're in high school, but it's well better to know sooner, rather than later."

"Exactly, Marie," Gordon chimed in, "so, what made you interested on those subjects, Enya, aside from the sweet taste of alcohol?"

When Fiona basically agreed to Kiah's plan, the tower of a woman nodded and looked to Alpin, who looked confused and a bit embarrassed.
"Yeah, I can see, what you mean.", she said, "Still, best keep them apart!"
Ida looked a bit scandalized at her (technically younger) sister and then to Fiona. "Come on, you'll get him back in one piece!", she held against that plan.
"That's not the point.", her sister said and looked back to Fiona and Alpin, "In any case, how about we drastically change the subject?"
Her question was followed by a beat, Ida neither agreeing nor disagreeing to the proposal.

Enya nodded at the advice, her grin still in place - it was obvious, that she was the sort of person, who either did something with enthusiasm or didn't do something.
She smiled at Gordon.
"Well, when we went back to Dad's Homeland once, for a few months over winter, we got to work in the beer garden of my Uncle when Dad was occupied with his job, and it was a huge bit of fun!", she said with a grin, "It got me interested in Trade and Business. And beer... well, a beer garden is nice and dandy, but I want to make and create, not put the finished product onto the table."

Lillorainen wrote:En route to the Marcach Camp.

Setting up a bet pool along these lines have been debated on amongst Janina, Dragan, and myself - but we rather agreed on just waiting for the right time to come in lieu of trying to win a few Salmons by it."
He shrugged, grinning.
"Apart from that, there was no talk about haste when the Gods created time - and: better late than never!"

En route to the Marcach Camp.
Leonard nodded.
"We had a similar procedure then every year.", he said and the Marcach's tone was a bit more serious, "A huge winter... Riverwood was covered seven metres of snow, Scilly under one, avalanches on every larger hill... even the army had problems as their fuel turned into jelly!"
He sighed.
"Over a dozen deaths were recorded in the entire Free Lands, damages of several million Gils... we are still accumulating the data.", he finished.

Láir Square.
The two engaged ones and me laughed at Chris' words about a bet, grinned at his words about time.
"You are right.", Enya said, "Especially around these parts, especially today, when the Steady Rhythm starts anew: seeding and growing and harvesting and fallow, waiting to be sown again. Haste doesn't factor into it."
She let a beat pass, then winked at me and moved to hug Chris.
"Now, come here, Son of Lillorainen's Shores, and lemme hug you!", she said, grinning. It was a friendly hug, between friends, much alike to the one Chris and Finnegan had shared not even three minutes ago.
Our jealousy was, thus, rather limited... although... amongst us, Enya was a cute lassie...
I kid, I kid!
I would not dare touching her. Besides, neither of us was into girls.

Nodding, she turned to the boy: "Indeed I do. Muileata's little bakery... awesome for breakfast breadrolls, especially already prepared ones."

Said employee nodded and motioned a bit to the side, where, indeed, a selection of walking sticks for sale was. In all sizes one could imagine.
"We have ones of the size you need...", the employee eyeballed Luca for a moment, then nodded, "...which would be Size C or D, I think... anyway, we have them in wood of all varieties, from hazelnut to birch to oak to fir, spruce and a few others. We also have them not in their bare stick-form, but also already smoothed and with carvings."
He let a beat pass.
"What do you think, lad?", he asked Luca with a smile, not in the least condescending but really interested in his opinion.

Fiona smiled, taking the hand into her grasp, softly, as if she was touching a delicate flower.
"We shall.", she answered, smiling herself and arranging it, that the two of them would almost walk shoulder to shoulder. "Come, I'll lead!"
And with that, they departed the scene of the anger and self-disappointment, towards a good place to eat - a bakery, not Muileata's little bakery, but a larger one. Close by Fiona's school, as she explained, a regular haunt of the students and teachers during longer breaks.
"...and sometimes...", Fiona finished her retelling, smiling, "...we even learn there!"

Graces came, when the food came, so it was no wonder, that Kat would wait for a minute or two until she heard them.
The woman wearing the toga-like clothing looked up with keen interest, though, as Kat mentioned the tradition of Spring Dances, something, which Liv had mentioned to her Kat in a side-sentence once, not going into detail.
"The Spring Dance is a dance on the town's or city's main square.", she explained, smiling, "The fiddler of the town calls for the dance, the pairs arrange themselves... for many, its supposed to be the first dance of the new year and many do it with someone they hold dear, for it is said, that the sharing of a dance then and there will be sign of love and together-being for the coming year, if not physically, then at least mentally."
She smiled, leaning over to give Kat a wink.
"So you better attend it with someone you like or else... you might get stuck!", she said with a bit of teasing, but also a smidgen of expectation in her voice.

It definately worked, she felt physical and emotional reassurance and... let's leave it at 'There was a lot of tongue involved with that kiss.'
After a while, the magnificent canine on the bed cocked his head to the side, as if he was wondering, where those two humans were storing all the air. For his kind, this was far easier...
In any case, all good things came to an end and before they could escalate into further steps, Gwen broke off, grinning... only to peck Jan on his nose.
"I love you.", she whispered, then smiled, "And I know someone else in this room, who loves me." As if on command, the canine gave a bark. "If I may introduce? Sról, my Grey Wolf, pet, confidant, partner in many-a-crime and closest friend. I mentioned him, I think."
The Grey Wolf lifted a paw, as if for a handshake.
"Once you shook hands, hold out your hand for him to smell.", Gwen advised in a whisper, before she spoke something in Selkie - the only word Jan might be able to understand was a name: Jan.
Gwen just introduced him and Sról seemed to nod, lifting his paw a bit higher.

It had been over a year since Holly and Isis were last in the free lands, however the opportunity has arisen for them to return to the sacred lands, the trip over with Trans Polar Airlines had been an okay one, nothing to write home about, Trans Polar Airlines is well AVERAGE, unless that is you're travelling in first class.

Holly, a double below leg amputee, using prosthetic legs as a result of a motorcycle accident whilst her wife, Isis Anuket Mc.Callum is an above leg amputee after stepping on a bear trap hidden in snow that had been laid illegally by a poacher, after spending time passing through customs and then riding to the village by public transport had finally arrived in the village of Cuan, ahead of them on a leash is a small, tubby Jack Russel Terrier, an adopted dog and now part of the family for Holly and Isis.

At the Ropaire Inn, Holly stopped and picked up Spongebob. aka Bobby, his name came from the original family that owned the dog but became unable to look after him, Isis, a former forest service worker of the Aurora Confederacy would have Bobby with her on most of her work as she worked on the trails, now he lives life as a travelling companion for Isis.

"Ice, have you got the booking reference?" asks Holly

"aye, its in the backpack"

Holly then opens the door and looks straight over at who is on the counter "heya" she says with a smile

Morning

The young man smiled, enjoying the ambient noise of a hostel. The bed was indeed flatter than a corpse’s BPM, but he had slept on worse. Sometimes one needed a break from luxury to ground himself, but even now he couldn’t fall into slothfulness. Picking up the camera, a present from his father for his rather...explosive wedding. He had attempted photography, and concluded that he was a better sketch-artist than a photographer. There appeared to be a scuffle downstairs, no doubt some of the local wildlife decided to sample the Inn’s hospitality for themselves. Completing the fajr prayer, the young man decided to break his fast and made his way downstairs.

Miranda smiled. “Really? We kind of do that as well, except most of the time, we learn outdoors when it’s sunny out. The public schools don’t do that usually though from what I heard.”

She gently stroked the back of Fiona’s hand with her thumb again. “There’s this coffee shop some of us go to when we aren’t in class and we have the weekend off. It’s pretty small though, owned by a couple who lived there for over a hundred years.”

Miranda, a little hesitant, but still a bit daring as well to look into her feelings further, tested the waters by closing the already shoulder to shoulder distance, into the soft warmth she felt.

She continued to walk with Fiona close to her, initially rigid and nervous, the warmth slowly melted her alertness so that she eventually relaxed into the other girl.

Though she felt relaxed, and it felt nice, she couldn’t shake off the feeling that she was doing something indecent, something wrong.

Of course, she can remember the last time she heard something down the grapevine. A girl had been expelled from the school for having a relationship with another girl.

But this wasn’t love, right? Sure, she felt similar to how the other girls felt in the books, but they were just girls, surely they just had a budding friendship, and might be bosom buddies by the end of it.

Then she remembered Fiona mentioned the students and teachers often frequented this bakery.

She tensed back up again, and quickly turned to Fiona, “W-Will some of the other students and teachers be there as well? From your school, or mine?”

Graces came, when the food came, so it was no wonder, that Kat would wait for a minute or two until she heard them.

She smiled, leaning over to give Kat a wink.
"So you better attend it with someone you like or else... you might get stuck!", she said with a bit of teasing, but also a smidgen of expectation in her voice.

Kat chuckled, “So it’s like the New York Times kiss after the ball’s dropped, I get it!” She leaned dangerously close to Liv and whispered huskily, “I’d be honored to save you from getting stuck.” Before giving Liv another kiss on the cheek.

Though it was supposed to be in jest she was keenly aware of both her tone of voice and of the double entendre wrapped up in a casual joke which possibly might leave Liv feeling scandalized and blushing.

When she turned back to her meal, she took a feel bites before she felt the stare of the woman in the toga. She looked back towards the woman briefly before she turned to Liv.

“I-I don’t mean to ask, but do you know who the woman in the toga thing is? She looks like she sticks out like a sore thumb as I do.” Kat whispered, trying not to offend said woman in toga.

Jeremiah Colton

Jeremiah listened with curiosity and interest while Mistress Banphrionsa explained who she was. When she asked if he knew Mona, he let out a friendly guffaw.

"I actually only met her shortly before you came. I'm in Cuan for the festivities and as a small vacation from my normal duties back home. Although I am primarily a blacksmith, we're occasionally conscripted into the military factories of our nation during times of war. Unfortunately we currently are in conflict with the nations of Ukraniumstan and Kyavan but I was able to take work leave to get out of the country and enjoy some vacation time. As such I decided to come here since The Free Lands are known to be a fairly calm country with lots of traditional craftsmen and a diverse culture.

You also mentioned that you are in the toy and clothing industry? I've heard stories of the elegance of Selkie fabrics from merchants and other craftsmen. As for toys, the only thing that I could classify as a 'toy' that I make are these little puzzles made out of two horseshoes connected by chains with a ring and the goal is to remove the ring from the two horseshoes. Actually I think I have two with me."

Reaching behind him, Jeremiah rummaged around with his hand until he found what he was looking for. Pulling out the horseshoe puzzles he handed one to Mistress Banphrionsa and raised his voice with the other in his hands.

"Ilia! Catch!"

With that, Jeremiah tossed a horseshoe puzzle to him. With a smile he said,

"Try and get the ring off the horseshoes!"

When they began walking, Pina took position with the parents, while Lorgaire kept close to the kids. He was a bit of a protector, especially of young, were it his or not - or were they of his species or not.
It also had the advantage of the large canine being rather distinctive, given a bit of a berth, so that if one of the kids got lost, it would easily be able to find him - not to mention, that he was walking on a leash.
"So...", Pina asked, "What sorts of animals do you have?"

Rona nodded with a huge grin.
"Yes, it's huge fun!", she said and threw her arms out to emphasize the huge-part, "Mom looked so pretty last night, when she introduced the new Arrowmaidens, tall and proud and so awesome!" She grinned. "Mam and I got a special spot as family and I even got to see Mona again!"
Mavie smiled softly, stroking Rona's head in a calming gesture.
"And at the Spring Sacrifice, we got nice spots, too - they all looked so pretty!", she continued, not calmed in the slightest, but not more hyper then she already was. "And now, we're watching the jamming before the dancing begins and then, Mom will come and dance with Mam and hopefully, Ciaran will come to to ask me for a dance, too..."
She blushed heavily at the last part.

After the handshake, during which Srol had nodded, much to Gwen's delight (who had taught him that when they were both small, mostly because she had been unfamiliar with the gesture of a handshake, the Selkie were people, who bowed in greeting), the most difficult part came.
Gwen knew, that Jan was a canine man himself.
She knew, that he was an alpha - as was Srol, the only male in Gwen's household at that point in time and certainly not uncontested.
In any case, when he sniffed, Srol considered for a long time, one could see the gears turning in his head. Gwen was getting worried, whether or not the most important men in her life (pending the gender of her unborn child) would get along or not... and if they didn't, that might pose a problem.
And then, Srol nodded.
Gwen breathed a sigh of relief - the Grey Wolf has accepted Jan as a fellow Alpha, as someone, who was for the protection of his mistress.
Srol offered his head a moment later.
"I think he wants to say: You may now commence the petting!", Gwen said with a smile, kissing Jan onto his cheek. "He loves to be scratched behind the ears."

The receptionist smiled.
"Good morning, Misses.", he said.
His eyes met the little dog for a moment - if on the arm or not, that might cause a few problems. They had six canines in the house already and while Bricliath was their undisputed alpha, General Niochan's Grey Wolf was a beast of a canine, the second spot was already contested enough. And he would not make it any less complicated.
"I take, that you have reservations?", he asked.
They were not alone in the lobby, besides the obligatory waitress running around behind them, there were three gentlemen sitting all over the room - two of them were so obviously SDF-Army, that they might as well have worn Blue Dress, but were actually dressed in civilian uniform. The third... the receptionist had no idea, who or what the third was.

Right opposite of the stairs was the entrance to the restaurant, on the other side of the lobby.
It had the typical, rustic charme of Selkie-architecture, of wood used in abundance, but also of light falling in through high windows and illuminating the chairs and tables of dark wood and the dozens of people sitting at them, as well as the waiters and waitresses flittering around to serve food and drink.
There were a few tables free, though, plus a few chairs by other groups.
Once he sat down, a waitress would throw him a "One moment, be there in a sec!" before she fluttered away for something else. A bit more then a second, but not half a minute later, she stood in front of the young man.
She was a good-looking young woman, dressed in Geansai with an apron in front of her body, which served little in distracting from the fact, that she quite curvy.
"Sorry for the delay, Sir.", she said and bowed her head lightly. "Good morning. What can I get you?"

Polish Prussian Commonwealth wrote:Marie rubbed her eyes for the god-knows-how-ith time and yawned a little. "hmmm...? Oh. Can't get enough of it...I've been considering eating pure caffine..."
She sighed. "Remind me never to cram my break homework ever again..."

The old man nodded with a smile.
"I see, I see...", he said and thought for a moment, "Dandelion Root."
Kiah nodded slowly.
"Yes, Dandelion Root. Roasted a bit, then prepared. Should work wonders and even tastes a lot like coffee!", he added and confirmed with a firm nod, "If you want, I can prepare three cups and we can have a nice, little, relaxing drink?"
He did not mention, that the cuppa would be for free. It might be a demonstration of the product, but first and foremost, the girl was Kiah's friend and thus was his guest and not a simple customer.
Kiah smiled slightly.

Liv wanted to answer when, with clear amusement in her voice, the woman in toga spoke: "You could ask me yourself, mia cara." The baby on her lap squeaked in delight. "I am Chiara Sacerdotessa, a Flamen Minores of the Windsinger Sect in Lutetii. This giovanetto here is Luigi."
The baby bubbled, causing Chiara to smile and kiss his head.
"She's here as part of an effort to conciliate the Cults of the Selkie and of the Lutetians after the horrid business that was the Second Vellenge War and Lutetiian Civil War.", Finnegan explained, "Both well before your times, lassies, but the bad blood is still there and ruins things... and, if we want lasting peace, then we better work towards it."
Chaiara nodded. "Well said, Finnegan."

The Chuck wrote:Jeremiah Colton

"Later.", Eithne said, putting the toy into her lap, her hands playing along it, while her son was turning it in his hands, trying to figure the task out, soon Mona being roped into it. "For now, I have an interesting conversation, which I would hate to interrupt."
She smiled slightly.
"Indeed, we do produce elegant clothing to measure, but that's for the seamstresses and sewers to worry about. Bicini is an industrial company.", she explained, "Not any less elegant, but off the rack, which is especially good when it comes to uniforms, sport jerseys, swimming clothes, such things. We actually started with utility clothing!"
She smiled.
"As for toys, we have a lot to offer, too - both from traditional craftsmen and from factories.", she continued, "We are actually on the way to a craftsman, who works for us. For them, we are an additional distribution channel."

Jan with Gwen - Ropaire Inn

The sniffing out process felt as if it endured for ages. It was a tense moment indeed. Jan has underwent this process a thousand times before in his lifetime, and have gained the trust of some scary beasts before.

Back when Jan was a serving military officer, he lead the project to open a wardog center for the Port Ember Special Forces, which was a raging success. And there they bred and trained beasts who were meant to kill. Yet none of those beasts were actual wolves.

When Srol accepted Jan as a non-threat, Jan was thrilled to say the least. The feeling of winning the basic trust of a wolf was bordering on euphoria. And furthermore he knew if he were to plan any sort of future with his Gwen, having the trust from the wolf was absolutely mandatory. And here he was - off to a good start.

Jan knew that this gesture was only the start, Srol did not trust Jan yet completely, Jan would still need to gain that down the line. Atleast Srol has decided not to maul him to death. Yet.

Jan smiled and changed his tone of voice down a small bit, to a slightly more friendly and almost childlike manner when he started petting the massive head of the gorgeous beast. He scratched Srol behind the ears, which Srol visibly enjoyed. Jan continued to mutter simple compliments to the wolf whilst the petting session continued.

Jan looked over to Gwen with a glint in his eyes, his happiness and excitement impossible to physically hide and said "He is truly marvelous. Absolutely majestic."

He cut his own food.
"Very good stuff...", he commented, then turned back to the conversation, smiling at Hina. "She's going to be one of the toughest lassies the world has ever known!"

"Aww that's so nice" Hina praised. "Well I know she doesn't know me but please give her my best! Well if she were an islander chances are I would help her as her upperclassman. We're often called to help younger students."

"And Hina is quite good at it too. Still seems like yesterday she was nervous about her first day." Haru added

"Well, she's not wrong...." Hina was a bit embarrassed "But to give you context, I was actually home schooled up until I was 12 because of how far our village was from any school. But then a small school opened up and I wanted to go with the others. And I still go! I really like it!"

The Selkie wrote:"Hm...", Elin made with a small smile, tapping her finger against her mouth, thinking.

"Sounds like a perfect place!" Shizuka agreed with a smile "and hey, just call me Shizuka." She winked. Once they set out to arrive at their next destination, Shizuka prodded some more "Branwen, how long have you been writing for? I mean all the time? We don't all start off published of course~" Another playful wink "according to my mama and my sister, I've been telling stories since I could talk. From meeting Mermaids in the harbor to riding on backs of sea monsters, I spun my share of yarns!

En route to the Marcach Camp.
All three Lillos nodded, getting serious again, too.
Sophus said, "Winters are very likely to get extremely ugly in these parts, right? We, luckily, only have that once every couple of years, and not everywhere. Lysköping is mostly lucky, and so is Preetz, my original home city - there, I used to know snow only from vacation to the Mountains. Yet, as soon as one goes north a bit, it looks different."
"Especially in the northernmost parts" - Hilda added. "This winter was hardly expected to come at all, but suddenly, it did hit Visholm again. It wasn't as horrible as two years ago - there are some excellent live documentations on-line -, but this time, they at least hit the four-meters mark again; I think there were six dead or missed people in Longenager, another two in Saskilde, and I think, yet another two or three in Sagaminde." She sighed. "Thank the Gods, that we live in a more moderate climate."
"Funny enough" - Mia began, "the Elverholm North Shore recorded some peaks last month. I think, the record was eighteen degrees measured in Lirscheid near Nienhagen. In February! Even though it's a rather warm region given its latitude, it's crazy sometimes ..."

Láir Square.
Chris had nodded - the Steady Rhythm played an essential part in the Selkie's way of life, and nothing could keep them from living by it, and only by it - machines were nothing that could dictate their lives. And Chris had spent enough time in the Free Lands to know that, and he wasn't the first Lillo who had enjoyed their happy-go-lucky life attitude, and wouldn't be the last one.
In fact, driving his car over a Lillorainian Federal Highway for the first time in months had been plain horrifying. After such a long time primarily moving forward on horses and horse carts, a harmless 80 km/h, minimum speed on highways, had felt like Warp 10. It had taken him the entire A53 to get used to this again, and the construction lot at the new-built Eschenbroich Intersection projected to open this year, as well as the recently-opened last missing section before Kerkenich, which had spared him from having to go by the Pontrath Orbital (which he still had needed to take when going to the Ferryport in July), had reminded him of the most obvious difference between Selkie and Lillöer-Islanders: nothing could change their ways of life, as soon as there were yet crops to harvest in one place, and yet roads to build in the other.
Et is wie et is, et kütt wie et kütt, as a famous Rhenish-German proverb went - It is as it is, it comes as it comes.
What now came was a friendly hug in the manner Finnegan had before, by an indeed cute lassie whom Chris wouldn't have dared touching, either, which was commonly known - thus, with the words, "Feel free to, Daughter of Oilean na mBeo!", he hugged her back.

"Onward!" declared Z dramatically, anticipating a good meal, or at least one better than what they served on a steamer that looked like it was made out of scrap metal and lead paint.

"I haven't heard that proverb before, but I think I can agree with it." Ren giggled. She liked being called a 'priestess' even if that might not be what she would become, as she looked up to her mother a lot.

Macha wouldn't know it, but she was usually so shy she barely said this many words in a day. Kiri had definitely noticed this, and was pleased by her sister's willingness to socialize.

Macha indeed didn't know, that Ren was usually a shy and quiet one, but she had a feeling, based on what she knew of her from social media - in any case, she liked this Ren. She had a cute giggle.
"Then come!", the Spiorad said with a grin, motioning for them to follow her - towards the Ceol Inn, one of the most esteemed houses in the Free Lands. And currently booked to capacity. It was a splendid house, half-timbered like the Selkie did, the ground floor being built of stone and the levels above that, three in total, which extended out, even had a small corner tower.
As the Ceol was reserved for VIPs, there was a guard at the entrance, who let Macha and company pass with a nod. She grinned over her shoulder, winking at the girls.
Then, once inside, she turned to the stairs, led them to the right, into the restaurant, where they were already expected.
The woman did not look much older then Ren, white hair and red-brown eyes, on her head, a pair of fox ears. She had pointy ears, which stood a bit off, but the most... captivating thing were her eyes, deep and strong and full of wisdom... and of mischief.
Macha went down onto both knees, lowered her head, as the woman rose and looked at Ren, Z and Kiri.
"So...", she began, "...you three are the girls I was told about. Ren, Kiri and someone going by the name of Z." She looked from one to the other. "Two of you look like Spiorad... and I can not smell the third..."
She smiled.
"This world still has a few surprises, even after all these Springs...", she said and motioned to the table, "Please, you three, have seats. There is much curiosity to sate - not to mention stomachs!"
Macha rose as well and sat next to Ren.

The three were happy to be getting something to eat, and just as happy to be meeting a potential new friend. Z was excited in particular, but she was also very glad to be able to sit down. Despite her adventurous attitude, she seemed to be getting fatigued from all the walking she'd done today, much more so than you'd expect from someone so youthful. Perhaps it was fatigue from the long boat ride, or the weight of her backpack.

Ren briefly studied the new woman that received them. She looked at least a little older than her, but for all she knew she could have been a century her senior; it was harder tell than with shorter-lived humans. Her eyes were especially beautiful and intriguing. Ren could see strength, knowledge... michevousness? Kiri saw some of this too. Their mother had showed them that you can learn a lot from someone's eyes. The clear wisdom led Ren to believe that this lady was indeed much older and wiser than her.

The two sisters were briefly perplexed by Macha kneeling down, but quickly surmised that it must be some way of showing respect. Operating on this assumption, Ren was about to kneel as well when they were suddenly spoken to by the mysterious lady.

Z smiled. "Ren is definitely a Spiorad, or at least related to them. I'm not sure what I am, but from what little I know I'm definitely not one."

Ren just smiled and nodded in greeting; she couldn't open up to everyone so quickly. She was glad when Macha sat next to her, though; she seemed like she knew a lot of interesting things. The building was beautiful, too; she appreciated it the most of the three as she looked around. So did Kiri; Z probably did as well, but with her scatterbrained personality it was hard to tell.

Kiri grinned. Mostly she was glad no one had been scared of her thus far. "Heh... well, I can't really eat anymore, so I guess I'm here for conversation. Thanks though."

She fiddled with a small red ribbon that was loosely wrapped around her arm. She hadn't been able to interact with anything else so far, so there was probably something special about this little trinket she carried with her.

"So... what's your name, ma'am, if it's polite to ask? What did Macha tell you about us?" Kiri was curious. It looked like either Macha or Z had planned something without telling her.

Fiona did not mind Miranda coming closer.
She was unaware, that they might be doing something weird in the eyes of her countrymen, for, in a bout of uncharacteristic naivite, she assumed, that Miranda's people were like the Selkie in that regard: If two people loved each other, then they loved each other, end of story. What was the point of discrimination if two women or two men loved each other?
At the question, Fiona shrugged.
"Maybe. Maybe not.", she said and honestly had no idea, then added with a smile and wink: "I know, that at least one student from your school will arrive there in a bit."

Miranda smiled sheepishly and said, “She should be there soon. If she’s still got a knack for finding her way and doesn’t get lost.”

The answer didn’t make her feel any particularly better. She was left to her own imagination, both a blessing and a curse at times. At best, it can be harnessed to write some pretty descriptive and surreal poetry and prose.

At worst, she can easily think up of the worst case scenarios.

And so, she could imagine what would happen if the more strict classmates from here school had ever saw her with a local, being so close to her, or worse, one of her teachers. As for Fiona’s teachers and classmates, she was just as worried about meeting them, for there was a chance that they would spread it down the grapevine to her classmates and teachers, which was just as bad.

And so, she couldn’t help but cautiously look around and behind her to make sure none of her classmates saw her.

Though she was slightly on edge, she was relaxed enough to sink into Fiona and take in the sights and sounds around them as they walked towards the bakery. She had to admit, even with the seemingly hectic and chaotic scenery, everyone seemed friendly. The odd child might run and bump right past them, but she knew she still had her purse.

All of this was accented with the local architecture, providing a rustic and a charming feel to what was supposed to be a bustling city. If she had known any better, it had given off the same aura that she felt when she visited family in Boston, a mix of the old and the new.

And so, with an unsettled peace, she settled into Fiona with a sigh.

“O-oh, w-well, forgive me for saying, but from the names of the locations, I’m assuming Luteii is off the coast of Italy?” Katherine took a closer look at the woman’s toga, “The clothing appears to match with Roman-era or Hellenistic style of clothing, clearly taking great inspiration from-”

Katherine stopped herself and blushed deeply, shaking her head. “Sorry, just my inner historian coming on out. I have to say though, you do have a handsome young lad right there.” She nodded towards the babe.

She tried to hide herself behind her hair to save her dignity as she instinctively leaned into Liv. “But yeah... eternal peace sounds good. I mean, if Liv and I can be together, even if we’re from totally different cultures, then old grudges can be buried for the better of the future.”

Somewhere back in the Mediaman Ministry of Defense in Illustrantia, a general felt an unknown tremor of uncertainty, as of something completely optimistic and dangerous to national security was uttered somewhere in the world. Nevertheless, he shook his head and disregarded it.

And so, probably ending on a mediocre note, Kat waited for some sort of response. She knew she was probably the newest, most foreign person in the room, and she hoped she wasn’t stepping on anyone’s toes, both literally and metaphorically. They were all religious biggies, compared to her developing atheism from her life experiences. But she still wanted to be polite, get to know everyone, and not create an international incident, maybe not accidentally flare up a new war between Luteii and Selkie or something.

And so she felt a little tense. Mind, she was a little calm as well from being next to Liv, but by god she hoped there wouldn’t be an abrupt disaster to disrupt the breakfast like a fox or random rabid tine attack.
