Odds currently have Netherlands tipped to win, how are we feeling about that?

They havent won since 1975 (Thats 44 years ago), so they can win. But the odds can change during the contest. (Points at Cyprus shooting themselves as the favourite last year after Fuego was performed in the Semi)

Oh absolutely no doubt about it. And odds don't really start to have much clout until rehearsals start, and even then they only start to become accurate when the semis happen. But it was interesting to see that Russia has been leading the odds by a huge margin (even before releasing their song) right up until the Dutch released theirs.

And speaking of Cyprus, a lot of people seem to be hopeful for them this year too.

I like The Netherlands, I would love for the Contest to be held in Amsterdam....but I think the song, while it's excellent, is overrated. It might win in May, but hmm

Because the Israeli national broadcaster KAN is a part of the EBU, which means Israel are eligible to compete in Eurovision.

It would still be cute if he won.

GERMANY: S!sters - Sister
It's in English, F*ck that

14. ISRAEL: Kobi Marimi- Home
Why is it in English!?

ITALY: Mahmood - Soldi
It's in Italian but it's title doesn't seem very Italian

SPAIN: Miki Núñez - La Venda
...sounds...good

UNITED KINDOM: Michael Rice- Bigger Than Us
Ugh, generic American-sounding love song

I guess Spain gets my vote then...It has that despacito charm to it

Why is Israel's song in English?

Because there is no restriction on language at Eurovision. Nations prefer to sing in English because it's usually a second language if it isn't a first and statistically is very successful.

While I do also wish that countries can go back singing in their own national languages, something that was last done in 1998, i don't object that other nations (like for sake of argument Sweden) sing in English, because let's face it, the world is globalized and English is a Lingua franca now.

While it's nice to hear danish again in Eurovision (there are danish phrases in the danish entry this year), and we (Norway) sends a joik after 39 years, I believe that to truly Celebrate Diversity, we should hear the national languages from all 41 countries who will travel to a Tel Aviv.

I wonder when the UK will have a Rick Astley/Darude collab as their Eurovision entry.
