Actually the native genetics must be lower, because only one great-great-grandmother was the last full-blooded native in my line. I need to take one of these DNA tests to make sure.

NationStates is a lovely website. We've had fun in this place for close to 9 years now! For those who don't know who we are: Yohannes has been the NationStates account of three writers - we specialise mostly in the National and International Roleplaying forums.

After almost 9 years of browsing this lovely website, we feel that it's time to properly introduce ourselves.

Hey, you may know me as the Dark side of Yohannes

I began my journey on NationStates in 2010. I started to explore the Global Economics and Trade sub-forum immediately. I was the person who kick-started the whole detailed fictional banking storefront roleplaying in the Global Economics and Trade sub-forum (by creating my first fictional bank storefront), and I'm not afraid to say that I'm proud of it!

I have many other achievements in the Global Economics and Trade sub-forum. I'm proud of them too

My first major introduction into the International Incidents sub-forum was with a popular alliance called The Conglomerate as an outsider. It was from there that I was introduced to Jenrak, Milograd, and other International Incidents roleplayers from the old Sanctuary IRC offsite channel. I shifted my focus to International Incidents from Global Economics and Trade shortly after this, although I still kept my presence in GE&T. I clawed my way up from the very bottom as I slowly learnt from other experienced roleplayers and better writers. Without them, (in terms of fictional NationStates hobby/writing) I would not be here today

After the International Incidents Mentor Programme was first set up by Jenrak in 2011, I was voted on to become one of the early II Roleplay Mentors (which, looking back, I was not prepared for it; I was still new and I did not know how to write/worldbuild well). I helped new National and International Roleplaying roleplayers and aspiring worldbuilders/nation-builders from 2011 to my resignation (in my role as a community volunteer) in 2012 (because I had let everyone down by making fun of a then popular NationStates General thread with my friends in real life; I thought it was fun back then to do it, but looking back now that was stupid and childish.) It was all my fault and I should've known better, and I'd like to apologise to everyone who were offended by my (and my real life friends') prank 7 years ago

From 2013 to 2014 I mostly left NationStates because I felt embarrassed by what I had done. I felt guilty for letting so many people down. I did not come back until 2014, and by then things had changed. The sensitive Liberate Haven scandal resurfaced once again (this time bigger), and there were many tense periods between Gameplayers and Roleplayers. But it was also a great time: there were more creative Gameplayers who started to roleplay over in the National and International Roleplaying section of NationStates, and likewise there were more open-minded roleplayers who started to participate in military gameplay over the Gameplay sub-forum/forum.

I was mostly out of my depth in 2014, and was not that good a writer or worldbuilder yet. I was bullied by many alternate accounts who interacted with me through telegrams and my storefronts with intentionally badly written sentences. The reason for this, I'm guessing today, was that my reputation back then was undeserved: people talked about me as if I was this really good writer, when in fact I wasn't that good of a writer yet, and some people disliked that (because they could see I made a lot of typos and spelling errors)

In 2015 I mostly left NationStates again, and let another real life friend (who I don't associate with any longer) played Yohannes. Looking back, this was a really dumb thing to do. Yohannes' posting quality deteriorated and it started to make many out-of-character and in-character enemies). When I got back by the end of 2016, I was shocked to see all that. I told him that I did not want him to access Yohannes on NationStates anymore (and changed all its security details to ensure privacy/safety). I mostly left NationStates again shortly after this (only coming back to post here and there)

In 2017, someone convinced me to revisit this website because NationStates is a good way to creatively improve our writing. And I followed her advice

Today, I mostly left Yohannes to her. I only come back here and there to assert myself and show to other NationStates writers that the fictional entity of Yohannes is not a pushover. As the Dark Side of Yohannes, my task is to do the unpleasant tasks, and say what I believe is right or wrong

My real life name is Yohannes Donata. I won't reveal my age, but I'm a research university student and part-time worker (two jobs). I see no need to hide my real life name, as I already have some notable NationStates players who are also my friends on Facebook (and because of the incident in 2012 people knew who I was). The guy in charge of my current NationStates region is also my real life friend. For those who already know who I am, you are free to add me on social media so long as you don't do silly things

I'm the editor of Yohannes on NationStates. I'm also responsible for the majority of in-character writing for Yohannes since 2017. For instance, the Archive of the Government of Yohannes Act 2017 thread was my first experience of writing here! I'd say my proudest one so far has been the parliamentary debate thread, as well as the Bank of Yohannes end of year report and in-character news-writing replies. I'm a macroeconomic research intern in a politically stimulating work environment. I enjoy writing on this lovely website - I can spend my free time in a fun-filled, productive way!

Re: I disagree with the real life name. Though if you're Yohannes' NationStates friends on Facebook, you've probably seen me without knowing it!
