He's not. He didn't shoot up a mosque, he didn't say "Muslims ebul." I'm not blaming PewDiePie at all, but it does beg the question of why "Subscribe to PewDiePie" is something that somebody has literally said before going shooting up a mosque. It can't be "just some meme" anymore now that there's death attached to it.

Police did not confirm how many people were killed in the attacks. We are still waiting for official confirmation of the death toll.

Communication is a complex process and the person speaking doesn't have a lot of control over what meaning those listening assign to their words, but that doesn't mean that the speaker is 100% absolved of any responsibility in the process of creating meaning. The listeners didn't just make the words up, and the meaning they derived from them came, in at least some part, from their content and the way in which the speaker expressed it.
