It probably exists and I just haven't noticed yet, but what if a stock exchange was added as an actual feature of the game and not just a roleplay in the forums?

This has been suggested before, and IIRC was rejected because determining the underlying "real" values of the businesses concerned -- which would be necessary for setting initial values (unless every business was, unrealistically, given the same starting value) and for properly "informed" trading -- would be impossible.

The initial values could be randomised using a random number generator.
But I don't know how a stock exchange feature would actually work anyway. I mean, how would one obtain currency to purchase stocks in the first place? I assume there would be some kind of microtransaction thing in place to buy more currency, on top of an additional starting amount provided gratis. If so, then no thanks. It's all starting to sound a bit like gambling.

In which case, with no linkage of values to "real" businesses [as roleplayed, and affected by the stats] in NS nations, would there really be enough of a connection to anything else within NS itself to make it worth inclusion in NS rather than just development -- if anybody feels like doing so -- as a completely separate game? The New California Republic wrote:Bears Armed wrote:This has been suggested before, and IIRC was rejected because determining the underlying "real" values of the businesses concerned -- which would be necessary for setting initial values (unless every business was, unrealistically, given the same starting value) and for properly "informed" trading -- would be impossible.

I think the curancy comes from the value of your company/ proffet from the stocks you have.
