Lawrence in the midst signing a state document

With the King of Soleanna in the midst of finishing up his royal duties for the present day, he noticed that the time was nearing his usual tea session. However, today was going to be a day that he would have to make do without, as he had received word of the arrival of his foreign guest(s). As such, Lawrence had made note to his attendant to cancel his afternoon tea and decreed that a dispatch of the palace guards be assembled at the front gate of the palace to salute the oncoming foreign guest as they make way to the grand entrance. Following the decree, Lawrence had departed from his study and made word that his wife, Empress Mizuki be notified of the arrival of their foreign guest, and wishes that she partake in greeting them with him.

The Palace Gardens

Empress Mizuki was meditating in the palace gardens when the message from her husband reached her. She smiled and relieved the servant sent to her, whom apologised greatly for interrupting her prayer and meditation. Upon hearing from the servant of the news, Mizuki rose and dusted her kimono off. Though she was the Empress of Sol-Nippon, she was rather stubborn in sticking to her traditions - clothing included. Mizuki instructed the servant to lead her to the gates, where she would meet with her husband in greeting the guests to the ball. Mizuki was silent during the walk, summoning her personal handmaids to rendezvous with the imperial couple.

Within a few minutes, Mizuki was nearing her destination. Her handmaids were there waiting for her, as well as her husband. Upon spotting them, Mizuki’s smiled widened but she did not break the serene and relaxed expression on her face. She hastened her pace subtly to stand at her significant other’s side...

As Mizuki approached Lawrence, he had of course promptly greeted his beloved and asked how she faired, in curiosity yet in a loving matter. Although, Lawrence was quite positive that his spouse was fairing well, need be that he had not to worry; though he did apologize for interrupting her meditation for such a trivial matter. Continuing, in a tall and prominent matter, Lawrence had relaxed his right arm to lock with Mizuki as they waited for their guest(s). As they lazed together, Lawrence had given a brief smile to Mizuki; Something that is quite rare for Lawrence's commonality.

"Make way for the Queen, MAKE WAY!" The horse carriage driver exclaimed as the Royal entourage from Mettenheim made their way through Soleanna's streets, attracting quite a few stares of curiosity and excitement from bystanders. Sitting alone in the horse carriage aside from a few handmaidens, was no one but High Queen Arwen of House Holswig-Schliestein herself, the great rulers of Mettenheim since ages ago. She was in fact the first ruler in a long while to venture outside the realm, as the once proud High Kingdom had imposed its own isolation and limited contact with the outside world, ever since the fall of the Empire it was once associated with and a series of tragic events which almost made these humans with elven heritage go extinct into oblivion. The fact that Arwen took heed of this invitation signalled a new era for Mettenheim; attending an international ball of some sorts wasn't primarily out of leisure even if it was included in the package. Statesmanship and the fine arts of diplomacy always was prioritized and acquiring potentially new friends and even allies mattered a lot, especially in times of these when Mettenheim needed them at most, and with the Queen being still unmarried it was easier for opportunities to arise.

Hanging down from the horse-drawn carriage were banners depicting the national emblem of the High Kingdom, which was basically a badger on a yellow background, the animal representing how the ideal Mettenheimer ought to be; bravery, intelligence and ferociousness. This in turn reflected on the complimentary escort of Mettenheim's arguably finest Soldiers, the Forlorn Hope, who were following right behind. The Forlorn Hope is joined by older men who have less to live for. Despite their age and declining strength they wield two-handed swords to great effect. They don the heavy and powerful Plate armor to protect them from ranged fire until they can get up close to their foes. Upon reaching their enemies, they can easily cleave through infantry and horses alike with their mighty swords.

The Mettenheimers finally reached the front entrance of the Palace and the carriage driver opened the door in order for the High Queen to exit. Taking a moment to soak all of the emotions in, she took a deep breath before entering the palacial grounds, followed by her closest servants and the Forlorn Hope, being disciplined and ready for anything as always, considering they were after all in a foreign country and the trust towards foreigners overall had to be earned and regained after such a longlasting isolation period.

In response to Lawrence’s question on how she faired, Mizuki graciously smiled. “I fair well, my love. I am glad to say nothing is bothering me as of late,” she said serenely. She looked rather pleased when he offered his arm and apologised for interrupting her, to which she replied “you needn’t apologise. I was planning to greet our guests either way, so I am rather glad you sent the message to me.” She gave him her arm, the couple interlocking them. Her handmaidens took their places on either side of the couple, dressed in their beautiful kimonos and in ideal Nipponese fashion.

“And so they’ve arrived,” the young Empress commented as the first guest arrived. Mizuki gazed at the general foreignness of the guests, giving glances to the flags and banners, guardsmen and their weapons, the cart and then finally their royal guest. She gave a lovely smile upon sighting the High Queen, nervous yet eager to greet her and welcome her to Soleanna. She looked to her husband, letting him take the lead in greeting their first guest.

A sharp and clear bugle call rang out through the city. The origin, of course, was from the docks.
A 40-gun frigate was currently in port, with the standard of the Doppeladler flying from the mast. Had this been two millenia prior, it would've signified a visit from the old Empire-now, it meant the arrival of Elsassians. While, like the Mettenheimers, they were also subjects of the Empire, they were much more proactive in their attempts to restore it, and over time had recovered their former area of responsibility-the entire eastern fringe of the Empire.

First out were 30 of the I. Elsassicher Jaegerregiment. Dressed in their snow-white uniforms and wearing the spiked helmet that Elsass was known for, they formed themself into a long column and waited.
After that, 5 lancers of the II. Elsassicher Kürassier-Regiment disembarked. Each lance was topped with the colors of the Margraviate-Black and Gold.
Finally, the Margrave and his siblings exited, accompanied by their guard.
Wilhelm looked around. "Sergeant, are we clear?"
One of the Jaegers-older, more grizzled, and with 3 chevrons sown onto his sleeve-responded. "Aye, sir, ready to move on your orders."
Wilhelm nodded. "Alright. Forwards!"
The group started foward, providing quite a spectacle-especially since 10 of those were carrying instruments with their rifles.
Halfway through they struck up a merry tune, although still with the backdrop of snare drums and bugles.

With the Imperial couple lazing intimately, expressing the stature of their relationship as they awaited upon their royal guest... Upon hearing the plea of carriage driver as they inclined closer the palace; Lawrence had replied to his beloved, "Indeed so, my dear." and took the hint of his spouse signaling in taking the lead of greeting their incoming guests. Upon taking lead, Lawrence had is issued that the red carpet had been rolled out in honor of their foreign guests, at the least of Soleanna's hospitality toward them. Following suit, the Imperial couple had taken several steps down to ground level of the palace's outermost courtyard in the arrival of the first of their guest.

Upon the arrival of their first guest, Soleanna's dispatched honor guard had followed suit at attention across the red carpet, resting their rifles as they hailed in salute. With the first to step of the carriage was the High Queen herself, Arwen of House Holswig-Schliestein followed by her personal attendants or commonly referred to as servants or handmaidens. Soon enough, Lawrence had spoken in a stately matter announcing the High Queen's arrival, "I give you a grand welcome to Soleanna! Your Majesty, Arwen of Mettenheim. A pleasure to make your acquaintance and relieved of your safe arrival. I do hope you find the first of Soleanna's hospitality befitting" as stated following the traditions that Mizuki had taught Lawrence of Nipponese culture, in giving a respectful bow to an individual as if they were your equal as you greet them. This might be odd to some, however, Lawrence finds the traditional etiquette of peerage to be quite dull.

As the sound of instruments ranging from the docks of Soleanna's Harbor, the bustling city folk of Soleanna in the vicinity of Dessuar-Elsass's regiment had simmered down and gathered as they cheered on them on for their superior performance as the marched forth to the Imperial Palace at the peak of Soleanna's hilly terrain. The tune of which the regiment's band played, could be heard from a contentful distance as it was a calm day.

Mizuki smiled and waited for the first guest to arrive, looking very pleasant and subtly excited to meet the Elven High Queen. When the red carpet was laid and the guardsmen took their positions, saluting shortly afterwards, Mizuki had a gleam of pride in her eyes. She discreetly moved her eyes over the whole scene, taking good looks at the display the hosts put on for their guests. She looked at Lawrence, that same pride slightly radiating now with her smile. Mizuki turned her eyes back toward the High Queen and her attendants, noticing their style of dress and the way they carried themselves.

When Lawrence announced their arrival and bid welcome to High Queen Arwen of Mettenheim, Mizuki gave the latter a welcoming and gracious smile. She bowed as well, though her bow was far more practiced than Lawrence’s. Her handmaidens also bowed. “I bid you welcome to our lands, High Queen Arwen of House Holswig-Schliestein. I pray you will find enjoyment and happiness here. We are pleased to be your hosts for this event,” Mizuki said in her clear, feminine voice and Nipponese accent.

Mizuki noticed the faint sound of the foreign marching regiment playing their tune. She smiled, preparing to greet their other guests.

"And likewise King Lawrence of Soleanna and Empress Mizuki of Shin-Nippon-Teikoku, it's such an honor and privilege to be received by your Graces, I hope to one day return the favour by inviting you to the High Kingdom of Mettenheim. I'm also looking forward to the upcoming ball and especially the interesting talks in which we'll conduct what will hopefully become fruitful business, with a Mutual and fair share of outcome for all parties, in order to improve our realms' relations and other matters worth to be mentioned." The High Queen returned the greeting, bowing at the same time according to the customs native to this land.

And so, the Royal Family of Alsase makes their arrival to the palace of Soleanna, yet in a humble matter; Nothing too extravagant or dull, as seen by their stagecoach and horses dressed with gold etchings & brilliant cut emeralds embedded ever so slightly. The Coachman, however, was dressed in a fine and suiting attire for his royal duty beyond their homeland. Continuing, as High Queen of Mettenheim's stagecoach embarked to the stables, Alsase's takes its stead and halts at the red carpet; As per duty of the Coachman, he steps off the stagecoach and hastens to the door to open it for whom would be the King & Crown Princess of Alsase. Henri I and Alyssia the Third. The first to step out happened to be the King himself, followed by his daughter the Crown Princess in which he had held her hand as she stepped out. Henri had made a comment to how beautiful the palace is, although had concern that the weather was more or less not to his liking, though it wasn't his place to speak of such trivial. Alyssia, on the other hand, kept to herself and remained as elegant, in spite of her father's laidback personality, having little to no care for etiquette. Something her late-mother would scold him for. Soon enough, the Royals had made their way down the red carpet as they were being saluted by the honor guard of Soleanna.

As Mizuki and Lawrence had made themselves acquainted with High Queen Arwen, they've exchanged their greetings. Following that, Lawrence had commented "If I may inquire, you must be feeling quite exhausted, your majesty, from the long journey here. If you'll excuse us, I have an attendant on my right vice-versa to your left, who'll escort you to your suite as the courtesy of us being the organizers of the event. The attendant will tend to your otherly needs beyond your personal attendants as you stay in Soleanna." Not to be confused with Mizuki's commonly referred handmaidens, The attendant in question that Lawrence was mentioning was wearing a ribbon embroidered with the Emblem of Mettenheim, to signify who they were in service to for the remainder of the weekend.

The Elsassian delegation was quite a sight. Unlike the other delegations, the Margrave and his siblings abhorred carriages-Wilhelm found them gaudy and unfit for a man who's job was the defense of borders, Marie found them stuffy and restricting, and Johann...he had his own reasons. Instead, all three rode on horseback, wearing the exact same uniforms their guard wore(And yes, even Marie).
Marie looked around and allowed herself a smile. "Looks like a wonderful place to live..."
Wilhelm nodded in agreement. "Definitely better than how the old bitch was planning on rebuilding Stassburg."
They both shuddered in memory of the planned redesign of their hometown by their power-hungry Stepmother.
Johann shook his head, but stayed silent.
Marie's guard and childhood friend, Catherine Isabel Albion, coughed. "Marie, we're approaching the palace...Christ it looks like the type of thing to be built by a guy who jacks himself off in the mirror. Way too much glitter, and impossible to defend."

At last the group arrived at the palace. Wilhelm dismounted and bowed to Mizuki and Lawrence, as did his siblings-as Margrave and Count/Countess, respectively, they were lower in rank to Kings and as such instead of a salute or a mere nod, they had to go all 4 kilometers. Their guards merely dismounted(if applicable) and saluted-being full military and not nobility, they were exempt from the typical shows of fealty/respect, replaced instead by the salute, allowing them to keep an eye out at all times.

Wilhelm spoke first. "Margrave Wilhelm von Elsass of the Margraviate of Dessauer-Elsass, your majesty."

Following the arrival and greeting of High Queen Arwen of Mettenheim, the King and Crown Princess had followed. However, the King of Alsase appeared to be more laidback for the event whilst the Crown Princess appeared to be embarrassed by her father's persona. Nonetheless, the Imperial couple had kept their posture, with Lawrence leading the greeting of Alsase's royal family. "Ahhh... Your majesty and highness of Alsase, a pleasure to make your acquaintances. The Empress and I plea that your travels were safe in Soleanna? You must be tired from your long travels." said Lawrence, followed by him reaching his hand out to Henri on a man to man basis of respect. However, for the Crown Princess, Lawrence had paid her a greet in the Nipponese tradition as he did with the Her Majesty, Arwen. Continuing, Lawrence had excused Mizuki and himself as this wasn't the perfect time for chit-chat as their guest had arrived one by one. "Now if you'll pardon us for the abruption, but we have an attendant waiting to escort you to your suite as you stay in Soleanna."

"A pleasure so, Majesty Lawrence. I look forward to the elaborate ball you've mentioned in the invitation. I do expect to have some fine wine and other extravagant to be available.... per se you must be busy, so I'll be on my way to my suite." Said Henri, having not much care in the world.

Although, Alyssia, on the other hand, had felt deeply apologetic for her father's insolence. "Your Majesties, I sincerely apologize for my father's rudeness, I do hope you can forgive him for his crude nature."

As the Alsasean Royal Family departed to their suite, the High Nobility. The High Nobility of Dessuar-Elsass had followed in suit to greet the Imperial Couple. Unlike the last two visitors being well refined and or laidback; They seemed to be quite lively in comparison... Lawrence had found them quite questionable but nevertheless kept to himself as he didn't want to give a bad impression on his foreign guest. Initially, Lawrence was quite baffled by the fact Wilhelm had bowed before he did, though he had recalled that Wilhelm is of lesser peerage but of honorable status as a Margrave; Thus is it was expected. As Wilhelm introduced himself, Lawrence had introduced Mizuki and himself once more but this time in person. "A pleasure so, Lord von Elsass. My wife, Mizuki and I are pleased to make your acquaintance. I plea your travels were safe to and in Soleanna?

Marie von Elsass nodded. "Aye, they were, Herr Lawrence. A privateer caught us while we were leaving Naravik, but we fought them off. Besides that, nothing exciting."
Wilhelm took over. "It is a pleasure for me and my siblings to make your acquaintance, sir, as well as yours, Frau Mizuki."
Johann and Catherine were notably silent.
The guards kept saluting, waiting for Lawerence to say...or perhaps do something.

With things said and done, Lawrence had left out a slight 'sigh' in response to the overwhelming arrivals. Nevertheless, he had to keep his stature up as the host and Monarch of the Empire. Continuing, Lawrence had looked at his beloved wife, Mizuki and gave her an assuring smile that the arrivals for the afternoon will be coming to an end soon enough. However, as Lawrence looked to his front, he noticed the slightly awkward moment of Silence and standstill among the guest of Dessuar-Elsass, primarily their Armed Regiment. Lawrence took a hint of the situation; giving back a salute to the regiment per se to the military standards of Soleanna.

"I thank His Majesty for tending to my needs, indeed one could use a bit of rest after such a long journey from the other side of Mobius. However I would most likely need only one hour at most to regain my strength in order to continue with the rest of the day. If possible I would like to have a personal tour of Soleanna city, perhaps my dear attendant here would do the honors? A bit of sightseeing is in the right order and this is among the finest ways one could learn from a different culture compared to one's own." she said with an intriguing smile towards the designated attendant.

High Queen Arwen also took note of her colleagues from Dessuar-Elsass, who proved to be quite quirky and amusing at the same time; Mettenheim and DE were after all traditional and progressive in equal and different aspects at the same time; Margrave Wilhelm seemed to be the most 'stable' of them all, and such a conclusion would've been taken of a pinch of salt, literally in actuality. She approached Margrave, interested and eager to get to know him more, finding him to be quite handsome in addition to her overall first impression. "Margrave Wilhelm, at least we meet under fruitful circumstances, an honor and privilege to greet upon thee and your siblings." she said smiling, holding out her hand in order for him to kiss it.

After a few days in the sea on a giant Lorcha. Prime Minister Kazumi is on the deck looking at the vast expanse of the sea while the Empress of Kitsuneki is on the bridge with Captain Michizoe Yosuke. PM Kazumi wearing a white shirt with his clothes being a bit damp due to the amount of days he has been at sea, his dark brown jacket over his shoulder being held by his hand just got cleaned on the way to Soleanna City, as he had got mud on it while he was at the port in Kitsuneki.
He was thinking why the Emperor of Kitsuneki wanted to send the Empress along with him, as he thought she might not be fit enough for a trip in the sea. Though his eyes then diverted to his boots which was covered in dirt still. He had an extra pair of shoes on the ship but those were for more informal purposes. He went inside the ship and into the room where all the sailors stayed. He took a shoe brush from a chair on the end of the room and sat on the chair with his back leaning away from backrest of the chair.
He then started polishing his shoes with the brush but while he was doing it he saw the Empress entering the room. "What is it my Empress," he asked.
"I was curious on why you came down here," she answered smiling at Kazumi,"Why are you brushing your shoes when you can order one of the sailors or my servants to do it?"
"I am a being representing the common people of Kitsuneki, I don't tend to have servants do my work or chores. Like many people who live in Kitsuneki." he says with such pride, as he felt that he was not depended on others to look after him.
"I see," she says, walking up to Kazumi and sitting on a bed that was next to him and leaning towards him,"Though you have a royal guard who protects you, that's what makes you a lot more different than an ordinary person in Kitsuneki." she smirks at the Prime Minister.
"Well you got me there. . ." he says, a sailor then enters the room, Katzumi and Empress Akagi Taeko's eyes drew upon him as he bowed very formally to them and then stood back up.
"Sir and my Empress, we have spotted land and the harbour of the Soleanna City, we shall reach there I believe shortly," he said, standing firmly.
"Thank you for notifying us, you may be excused," Katzumi says and the sailor goes back to the bridge,"Well I must scrub this shoe quickly before we reach the harbour. Wouldn't be a good first impression on us." he says. Brushing off the mud on his shoes and making them at least appear clean. "Well don't I ever wish for a goddess to somehow make my shoes look glamorous," he says in humor laughing softly. The Empress also laughing cheerfully at the joke.
"I do wish I had 3 more tails then I would have became a goddess," she said trying to follow up Katzumi's joke, looking at her 6 fox tails resting on the bed then looking to Katzumi, "though goddesses stay in the shrine for a most of their life, I don't find that very enjoyable, I only wish to travel abroad and explore new places," she responded, they both smiled at each other. Katzumi though then continued to brush him shoes, now knowing maybe why the Emperor sent the Empress with him abroad.

His smile faded and he shook his head sadly. "The old Reich really did leave it's mark, eh?"

"As per se to my duties, milady; Your wish is my command, within my granted position as your personal attendant." said the attendant, giving a slight bow to Queen Arwen. Following, the attendant had pardoned herself with the inquiry of taking the Queen's luggage to her suite as she introduced herself to the fellowing guest from Dessuar-Elsass.

Wilhelm looked oddly at the hand, before shaking it. His confusion changed to a genuine smile. "Pleasure to meet you as well, Konigin Arwen of Mettenheim. Always admired your nation...so similar to my homeland, yet different..."
His smile faded and he shook his head sadly. "The old Reich really did leave it's mark, eh?"

Naturally she expected him to kiss it but instead shook it, which surprised her slightly but not by a large margin; holding his hand turned out to be the better initial interaction. As Arwen held Wilhelm's hand, she took the opportunity to gaze straight into his eyes and how beautiful they were; Behind this elegant facade of an orderly Margrave, was instead an ordinary man of confusion and conflicts, which probably indicated a peculiar upbringing of hardness and strength involved. "It depends on what you mean by it's 'mark' but certainly the spirit of it still lingers even if centuries have already passed by; I wasn't born at the time of its extinction, but the eldest of our kind who were and still alive, used to tell me stories of its greatness and its decline." she ended, not wanting to continue any further as it started to pain her immensely as well as the discussion not really suitable in the context they were in.

"Nonetheless, if you'll excuse me my good Lords and Ladies, I'm heading off to my designated quarters to freshen myself, Before undertaking a tour of this magnificent city". She leaned closer to Wilhelm in order to give a traditional farewell in terms of kisses on his two cheeks, "I hope His Highness cares to join me later on this tour?" she asked flirtatiously, as she also gave notice to his siblings Marie and Johann. Following her personal attendant alongside her own Group, she turned her head slightly in order to give Wilhelm a quick glance and a blink. "Such a firm ass he's got." she whispered to the accompanying handmaidens, who let out tiny giggles in the process.

"So, how should I adress you, what's your name my good Madame?" she asked the attendant, walking beside him whilst taking a look around of the surroundings.

Wilhelm's face was impassive on the outside, but inside he was panicking. Any lad would when approached by a pretty lass, doubly so if she seemed intrested in him, but when a single wrong move can ruin an alliance...yeah.
After a long pause, he nodded, not daring to speak, lest he make a fool of himself.
Catherine snickered into her armored gauntlet, while Marie allowed herself a small smile.
Johann's face, as usual, was completely and utterly blank. Unlike the others, though, he was already dissecting Arwen's actions mentally.
Alright. he thought. Postulate 1: Women typically gaze longer into the eyes of men they're interested in. The same is true of the inverse. Therefore, one can conclude that "Arwen"-provisionally labelled Entity A-Is romantically interested in my brother-Entity 1. Now, Entity 1 is a Margrave, and Entity A is High Queen of Mettenheim-therefore, any marriage resulting from a relationship would result in a cementing of the tenous alliance between Political Entity A(Dessuar-Elsass) and Political Entity B(Mettenheim). Now, Postulate 2: My loyalty to Political Entity A is absolute. Therefore I ought to do everything to advance it's interests and welfare. From that I can derive that any marriage between Entity 1 and Entity A would benefit both Political Entity A and B. Therefore, I ought to encourage this.
Satisfied with this course of action, he leaned against a convenient column and waited.

Soleanna wrote:With things said and done, Lawrence had left out a slight 'sigh' in response to the overwhelming arrivals.

Acting as one, the 40-man platoon dropped their salute.
A few barked orders from the sergeant later, 30 men turned about face, and goose-stepped their way back to the docks. The 10 remaining-all carrying instruments looked at each other, and just hung around awkwardly.
