What are reversable train seats?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3QRZMJkq-Po
Why should the government care? If the govt. owns the trains, they decide which seats go in them. I'll post a list of articles later

Besides-which, referenda being ignored is more of a side issue. The ultimate indication of whether you have democracy in NS is whether the voters vote for candidates (the description of autocracy says: "The nation does not hold democratic elections"), which they do not here.
And you can cancel your Autocracy policy in the future. The are many options to reinstate democracy; ten issues, one of the higher rates for reversals in the game. One will come along at some point.
Okay... I still think it's a bit obtuse but I apologize for being tetchy, I got back to democracy within 10 issues anyway. I guess it just means I can't to build back up to 5%.
Anyway, I thought I better ask about this issue, since I came unstuck last time, it's in "A Debatable Question", response being;
"“All this debating is giving me a headache,” complains Ksenya Christmas, your Minister of Daft Ideas. “Imagine all the time people would save if they didn’t spend the day listening to arguments about tweaking the tax code or giving benefits to old people.” She motions over to a window overlooking a lone activist spray-painting ‘MAFTAOAL FTW’ across New London’s main square. “I have an idea, what if we just stopped debating altogether? No meddling politicians, at all. Let the voters decide for themselves.”
Is this closer to what I had in mind?

I've been on various trains and other forms of public transport, and I don't recall having ever seen reversible seats. This doesn't appear to have ever been a problem.Revolutionary Atlantica wrote:Also, yeah, the reversible seats thing sounds like a "slow news day" kind of controversy.

I've been contemplating an issue about something similar (but not quite as extreme), but I've gotten stuck on the fact that the basic pro- and anti-abortion arguments have been rehashed so much that it's hard to present them in a way that isn't just saying "yeah that".Jutsa wrote:Idea #1: Issue about an abortion during labor and whether it still counts as abortion

I feel so ashamed that I never noticed this.It would also ruin the joke, which is that the name sounds like "Micronation".
On an unrelated topic: Could someone remind me which NPC is the vaguely German one? Marche Noire?

Also, any thoughts on that second idea of mine?On an unrelated topic: Could someone remind me which NPC is the vaguely German one? Marche Noire?
Probably.
I could also totally see this having Bigtopia [Butcher of Bigtopia], and then of course Brasilistan...
none of which are particularly German, but are probably the most likely candidates.
The closest to Germany is probably Gallopavia, and honestly, a gladiolas-selling representation of the Netherlands doesn't work as well.

Bigtopia and Brasilistan don't work because I really need German culture, not just a history of genocide.

That sounds familiar.Kurnugia wrote:Would a social media ban make a good premise for a freedom of speech issue.
Like: A popular conspiracy theorist has been banned from all social media. He claims his right to expression has been violated. He wants the government to intervene and guarantee his right to be on those platforms.
