The Democratic States of Salcania

Official long name: The Democratic States of Salcania
Short name: Salcania (Deprecated: Salkhania, Romanian: Sălcania, Crimean Tartar: Salkanya)
Official languages: Romanian and Crimean Tatar
Official currency: the Tarlan
Domain name: .slc
Population (real): 17.500.000

Politics:
The Democratic States of Salcania is a federal, minoritarian, parliamentary republic.
It is composed of 2 states, Rucșoara and Tirim, each with an main ethnic component: Romanians and Tartars. White Fort, also called Lefcopole in Romanian (from the Greek Λευκόπολις) and Akerman in Tartar (from Turkish), is geographically split between the two, but is actually part of a separate entity called the Federal DIstrict (Districtul Federal - Ro).
Minoritarian Government (Guvern Minoritar - in Romanian) refers to the fact that the party or coalition that forms the government can not exceed 50% minus 1 seat in parliament. The purpose is to avoid the one-sided control of national actions.
The election systems is as follows:
Each party creates a list for each of the states' Deputieships (Deputății - Ro - the standard "Chambers of Deputies" form was not used) and one for the National Senate (Senatul Național - Ro). Voters then proceed to national elections, so all chambers have the same proportion of seats. As no one party can have 50% or more of the seats, extra seats earned in the elections are redistributed accordingly to the others who pass the 3% threshold. A single party, or coalition provided that it does not reach 50% in Parliament (Parlament - Ro), can form the Government, having already selected the Prime-minister (Prim-ministru - Ro) candidate when publishing the official campaign list. The prime-minister will then propose a cabinet formed of Ministers (Miniștrii - Ro) and the Delegate (Delegat - Ro) (basically a foreign minister that takes on the role of president in international relations). The Ministers and Delegate would govern Ministries (Ministere - Ro). The proposal is then offered to parliament for voting. 3 failed votes lead to a repeat election.
Ethnically oriented parties are not allowed, due to bias during the elections. Neither are xenophobic parties.
The present Delegate, Marian Duvăz, a member of the Libertarian Party was nominated by the Prime-minister Ahmet Tuqay, who was elected by a vote in Parliament following a compromise between the Social Liberal, Libertarian, and Market Parties. He was also voted by the Anarcho-Syndicalist Party. The Socialist, Conservative, and National-Republican Parties voted against.

Paliamentary parties:
The Anarcho-Syndicalist Party - Voted the current govt, but not part of it. Decentralization agenda, but not in line with the state division. Holds 17% of Parliament.
The Socialist Party - Classic soc-dem party, voted against the govt. Also holds an ecological agenda. Holds 12% of Parliament.
The Social Liberal Party - Part of the centrist governing coalition. Holds 30% of Parliament and the Prime-Minister office.
The Libertarian Party - Closer to centrist than rightist. Part of the governing coalition. Holds 9% of Parliament and the Delegate office.
The Market Party - Found usually in alliance with the Libertarians (1:1 ratio). Part of the governing coalition. Holds 9% of Parliament.
The Conservative Party - The morally conservative version of the Market Party. Also monarchist, but internally divided. Voted against the govt. Holds 7% of Parliament.
The National-Republican Party - Combo between the US Republicans, and the French National Front. Voted against the govt. Regard state autonomy highly. Holds 16% of Parliament.
Note, the govt has 48% in line with the minoritarian system of governance

Non-parliamentary parties:
The Economy of Ecology Party - Represents the less left-wing ecologists in Salcania. Centrist.
The Pirate Party - Close to making it to Parliament last elections. Views represented in Parliament by individual politicians. Center-left.
The Two Nations Party - Supports division of Salcania. Extreme version of the Autonomy Principle upheld by the Nat-Reps. Hovers at 1%. Rightist.
The Reformed Marxist Party - Eurocommunism on an island. Leftist.

History and symbols:
Salcania is a product of the 1950s civil war in the Ukrainian and Moldovan SSRs in the USSR, after Stalin's death. Following the first conflicts, a Ukrainian radical party that allied with the central USSR forces after the Dnepropetrovsk agreement gained the upper hand, and that forced the Romanian and Crimean Tartar populations to leave to a large British island dependency that hadn't been populated much, called New Shetland Island. The population ratio between the the settling ethnicities has pretty much stayed the same since the beginning (R 60:40 T) despite the population growth after the Resettlement (Reașezarea - Ro). The local population of Zulu origin represents about 11% of the total population, and is most dense in the northern areas. The major ethnic groups to have immigrated are Zulus that left South Africa during the apartheid (about 30% of the current population of Zulus), Tamils that fled the civil war in Sri Lanka, and Asian workers, mostly Malaysian, but also Cambodian, Indonesian, Tamil, Bengali and also some African Malagasy.
The flag was called the Biflag (Bisteagul - Ro), and united what would become the 1989 Revolution flag of Romania (the Communist coat of arms simply being cut out of the flag) and the flag of the Crimean Tartars. The flag was amended soon after establishment, and the light blue in the Tartar part to simple blue, in order adhere to vexicological standards. The blue star and yellow band were later introductions.
The name comes as a combination of the Romanian word for the Acacia tree (Salcâm - from which most laminate for Moldovan Romanian weapons during the civil war was made) and Khan to represent the Tartars. It is spelled Sălcania in Romanian, Salkanya in Crimean Tartar, and occasionally Salkhania is used in English, though Salcania is usually prefered.
The national animal is the corn snake and it represents 3 things: "Don't thread on me!", the first animal encountered in the new homeland, and only 10 years later, it became the most popular pet in Salcania.

Gun laws and military:
Both civilian and military weaponry is registered at the same agency, the Salcania Weapons Register (Registrul Armelor din Salcania - Ro).
There's a set of licenses available for civilians:
L1: Pistols with barrel shorter than 30cm
L2: Pistols with barrels at least 30cm
*note: even the buttstock tube from an AR-15 is considered a stock, as it is a "significant protrusion" from the trigger's vertical level, so an AR-15 can never be considered a pistol
L3a: Manually rechambered rifles (single-shot, bolt/lever/pump/whatever-action)
L3b: Automatically rechambered rifles (semi/full-auto)
*note: Biggest caliber allowable for L1/L2/L3a/L3b is 14.5mm
L4a: Manually rechambered shotguns
L4b: Automatically rechambered shotguns
*note: For L4a/L4b the biggest caliber allowable is 8-gauge
L5: Destructive weapons (explosive rounds, bigger calibers than 14.5mm or 8-gauge)
L6: Non-explosive nuclear and chemical handling license
*note: L6 is required for incendiary and depleted uranium rounds
*note: L1-L4 have to be renewed every 5 years, L5 and L6 every 2 years.
*note: No other regulations regarding accessories or "foreign vs. domestic" made products are in place
The military is national and contains army, naval, air, gendarme, and SOF branches.
The main calibers for army weapons are:
Intermediate round: 6.5x39mm Grendel
Full Rifle Round: 7.1x55mm Salcanian (proprietary, initially used on crude home-made weapons during the civil war to prevent captured use)
Pistol Round: The 6.5x25mm CBJ
Heavy hitter round: 14.5mmx114mm Soviet
Shotgun: 20-gauge (instead of the world standard 12-gauge to improve full-auto controlability)

Speed limits:
In locality:
One way, single lane streets- 40 km/h
Other streets - 60 km/h

Out of locality:
Standard roads (1+1) - 90 km/h
Extra-wide roads (have a marked central motorcycle passing lane) - 90 km/h cars, 110 km/h motorcycles
Express ways (2+2) - 110 km/h
Motorways - 140km/h first lane (edge), none on the others

Organized religion:
Religion is not encouraged on an official level, and the state is separated from the churches, however religions that are registered do receive one benefit: tax deductions for temple maintenance using a coefficient that depends on the work of tied charitable organizations and the total number of followers.

The current census shows:
Atheism/Agnosticism 50%, (Romanian) Orthodox Christianity 18%, Sunni Islam 14%, Anglican Christianity 5%, Baptist Christianity 3%, Vaishnavism 3%, (Maha Nikaya order) Theravada Buddhism 2%, Zulu Animism 2%, Zion Christianity 1.5%, Kemetic Orthodoxy 1%, Others 0.5%

More info to be added as I progress.
I only used Romanian, and not Crimean Tartar, because I don't know Crimean Tartar.
