Welcome to this experimental RP!

Everyone is welcome to participate in this RP, regardless of anime background. However, it will be noted that, especially to people outside the world of anime, there will be many aspects of this RP that will be unusual or perhaps even unnerving. Please know that what happens in anime stays in anime.

Standard NationStates rules and rates apply. Please keep the posts below 1000 words. Should the need arise, I will write and enforce more specific rules. Keep in mind that this RP, while meant to be active, is never meant to be taken seriously in any way.

Archetype: Anime Protagonist, a la Kirito (Sword Art Online), Ayato (Asterisk War), Toma (A Certain Magical Index), and Kimihito (Monster Musume)
Theme Song: From Sakamoto Desu-ga, a significantly more self-aware anime than this.
Major/Minor: Economics / Aeronautical Engineering
Equipment: Notepad, GameThang, Laptop computer, Watch
Hobby: Hiking, Sailing, Driving, Video games.
Blood Type (not important here; it's just a thing in Japan): AB
Background with Kiyoshi, if applicable: Well, uh... Most rumors about Kiyoshi’s birth generally concur that he descended from the heavens, a gift from God to mankind. The date of his descending was October 28, so that is the generally-agreed birthdate.

The Tensai Josei Era, Age 3-8: Up until he was five, Kiyoshi lived next door to Josei. While Josei and Kiyoshi’s sister Tamiko were closer in age, Kiyoshi tagged along as the only boy of his age on the street. “Playtime” was often Josei offering interesting theories on the way life works and Kiyoshi hinting at helpful insights and possible editions to her theories. She might have been the smartest child Japan had yet seen, but Kiyoshi, you see, was an anime protagonist.

The Ren Era, Age 8-12: Once Josei moved away, Kiyoshi spent time with Ren, right when people outside Ren’s family started to figure out that Ren was, in fact, a woman. He often went on non-romantic nature hikes with her, but, during periods of injury, he’d sit with her and play video games.

Aside from MonQuest on his GameThang, he soon became enthralled in the world of MMOs such as Wouraiya Online and Sword Gun Infinite. In both cases, while he could have theoretically built a guild and conquered the game single-handedly, His antisocial lone-wolf solo DPS player quite squandered any potential he had for that sort of thing.

High School, Age 12-18: Kiyoshi sat next to Otome in high school, behind Miku, and next to a window in his home class. He made sure to study hard, but he always received A’s on his test scores no matter what level of study he took. Always the teacher’s pet, he tutored most of the female student body. By the time he graduated, he had made a significant impact on every social club in the school.

One day, Kiyoshi was asked to join a karate club at the request of [REDACTED BY YANDERE]. He didn’t know much about jiu jitsu, but he beat the head of the club in his first sparring match. Like everything in life, Kiyoshi has a natural born talent for tae kwon do . During senior year, he won the regional championship for Judo. He promptly quit Muay Thai to pursue his lifelong passion in computer games.

"Am I cute?", IIRC. Though not sure if the "Desu Ga" is a mistranslation of "Desu Ka" or an alternate romanisation.

So I’ve got two ideas, one of which certainly needs OP approval:
A: Foreign exchange student of TBD heritage
B: Alien naturalist disguised as a student to study humans
The latter is something I’ve thought of before as being a neat idea in other rps, but I mention it here because I know of numerous animes where aliens are just kinda there, so I thought I’d throw the idea out there.

I was hoping for a Japanese-style personification of a spatula, but either works. If you’re looking for something decisive, B would provide a lot of old-school anime vibes. Maybe that.

I’ve hammered out some more ideas. So definitely gonna do the alien, which leaves my decision on a second character up in the air. I’m trying to weigh my options between a zealous Japanese nationalist and an Iranian immigrant who’s renounced her god and has dedicated herself to blaspheming as many religions as she can in persuit of our protagonist, though I may do both.

I mean, she is a chemistry major... Maybe part of med stuff? In any case, not sure about Japan, but I know in the US, it's not uncommon to take gap years in schooling, or to try going into a career straight out of HS and have to go to college once that's not going anywhere.

Also, RE old-school anime, do *not* tempt me. I have Tequila and am not afraid to use it.

In all seriousness, I appreciate the idea of the alter and will translate the effects once I make Kiyoshi’s background. If you didn’t make this up as a gag application, I’d be down for letting him in. Please note that your charm will be there, but significantly duller. Please understand that his very presence could completely throw the RP into anarchy otherwise.

On that note, I must apologize for screwing names up. Traditional Japanese nomenclature dictates last name before first name. Because of my lack of knowledge of actual Japanese (beyond kawaii, sugoii, and so-kah) I heave no idea if you went traditional American nomenclature, and I don’t know which is which. Will make an edit in the application, not retroactive.

I went to a university in America. Like, you’d have to go freshman year, take a year off, take sophomore year, take a year off, junior year, year off, and just now start senior year. That, or dropout, then comeback.

I'm making this an actual application, and I'm afraid you missed something.

The Alter is female! And yes, she'll fall for our beloved MC as well, because apparently your own charm works on you (or something to that effect, I dunno. :lol2:

I used Japanese nomenclature. Her name is literally "Virgin Holiday Cake" (hence her age. It's a reference to the idea of a "Christmas Cake", a person (usually a woman) who is 26 or older and considered past their prime. The idiom comes from the tradition of eating cake for Christmas, which means few people are really in the mood for a Christmas cake after the 25th.). I used "Kyūjitsu~no~Kēki" instead of "Kurisumasukēki" because I felt the latter was a bit too on the nose.

The first glance looks good. I think they're all PG-13? I don't know for sure about the first one in the first appendix; it seems to be riding the edge. I appreciate the Kurzgesagt music particularly- it's a good channel.

I think I can accept them... but geez, did you have to give each of those three comically awkward proportions? Like, I don't even know an anime with a place for them, and I'm including Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid! Well, welcome aboard, I guess.

I'm going to advertise on the Advertisement channel, alongside an old work that I want to get going. Once we get ten nations involved, I'll definitely start. I might lower that limit to six or seven, depending on the success of the advertisement.

Until Josei was five, she and Kiyoshi were neighbors. One day, Kiyoshi found her in the local park, crying after two of her older brothers had been mean to her. Kiyoshi told Josei that her brothers only had more knowledge because they were older, that she would be a great scientist and that she was pretty.
The Tensai family moved shortly after that, because her father was accepting a new job at a top-secret laboratory.
Josei’s memory of Kiyoshi is only that when she was very young that a boy was kind to her.

Any additional information: The youngest and only girl of the Tensai (“Genius”) family, Josei was always being compared to her older brothers. It was difficult, because they had already made great achievements in a variety of fields and Josei was tired of living in their shadows. Finally, she discovered fields in which she could outshine her older siblings.
Her mother, Aimi, is very proud of her and will do ANYTHING to help her daughter.

In Game, Josei's body has died by choking on part of a demon-girl's tongue that became lodged in Josei's windpipe.

Well the first one was intentional, the second one was a coincidence that I then decided on playing it for humour or something, and the third was just selected out of a few spares I had laying around from looking for stuff for the first one as it was like 12 AM. Anyways, I’ve kinda got the third as a placeholder until I find something I like and as I’m typing this I just remembered I had something stowed away for her so I’ll be editing that app now.
