The Allied States of Polkopia
National Football Team

The Allied States of Polkopia, or commonly known throughout the multiverse as Polkopia, is set to return to the World Cup after a stunning performance in the last World Cup, which was joint-hosted between the nations of the Free Republics and Banija. Prior to the opening match, the Polkopian side was ranked 223rd in their group, with only Axuva, Karulicja, and Nuadh-Alba ranked below them. As if that wasn't enough of a challenge, Polkopia was placed in the same group as World Cup heavy-hitters Valanora, New Gazi, and Eastfield Lodge, with the likes of Qusmo and Savalen also posing a threat to the team's shot of qualifying. Be that as it may, Polkopians everywhere were optimistic about their squad. While they didn't expect the team to qualify, they were all eager to see the performance of the new coach, Zdeslav Tedesco, and an entirely new squad, hand-selected from the manager himself. To the surprise of many around the multiverse, and honestly to many Polkopians as well, the Polkopian side finished the group with a stunning 12-3-3 record and falling short of automatic qualification by two points. Polkopia later was knocked out by Apox in the qualification playoffs, however nobody expected such a brilliant performance from the squad.

With the dawn of the new World Cup, Polkopians are eager to watch their team perform to the same caliber as the last cycle. When the initial squad was announced, many were critical of Tedesco's decision to keep the starting XI from last World Cup cycle, however he defended his actions by claiming that these men are "In the best shape of their lives" and cited their performance last World Cup as the reason for his selection. Celebrations and watch parties have already been coordinated around several areas in Polkopia's busiest cities and one could expect the energy throughout Polkopia to be completely transformed on the eve of the opening match. Sports' journalist Maksim Borischev stated, "[The] culture here is so different. Eight years ago, you would have never even heard about the results of the Snovski* let alone have a massive crowd of people watching a game and cheering together. It's amazing! Tedesco managed to completely change the football culture in his nation in a few weeks!"

Whether you're a Polkopian citizen, or just visiting the nation during this exciting time, you're sure to witness some of the pandemonium taking place throughout the nation at some point.

Home/Away Kits

Image
These kits were made courtesy of Red Blackiland

The Polkopian kits that are to be used for the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches are made by Meski Sports who are no longer actively supplying kits, however head coach Zdeslav Tedesco expressed his desire to have his team wear the same kits used by the Polkopian team during the 74th World Cup in San José Guayabal and Valladares, as well as the most recent World Cup in the Free Republics and Banija. Tradition is well-engrained in Polkopian culture and Tedesco doesn't shy away from it. In fact, he embraces the kit and cites it as some of the reason why the squad performed so well last tournament.

FEDERAÇÃO LUSITANA DE FUTEBOL
New Lusitania National Team - A Selecção Nacional

82ºMundial/World Cup 82

Lisboa, 28 de Fevereiro

New Lusitania has pride in presenting the National Football Squad for the World Cup 82 qualification stage. Hoping to have their first ever presence in the final, the Selecção is hopeful to reach Apox and the Eternal Empire. Victor Santa Cruz has called up the very best of the nations hopes for the hard journey ahead. This will be New Lusitania's fifth try to qualify, the first one back in the 78th Edition. Now within reach of the Top 50 nations of the world ranking, with many questioning the absolute potential of the side and how far they can go.

How They Play
New Lusitania is known for having attractive, attacking football and Victor Santa Cruz has decided to build on that formula. He has also, however, given a lot of thought on how they defend, using the offside trap and trying to regulate the amount of space the opposition have to play, limiting width.
Defence is probably the current weakness of the side, basing itself on a virtual 3-5-2 system. Usually the midfield includes a Central Defensive Midfielder which will come back to the area to help defend, creating a technical 4-4-2 tactic. Should the ball be taken from the opposition, New Lusitania will likely counter-attack in numbers, hoping to catch the other team with limited defending capacity. In an attacking situation, the two strikers will stay upfront, trying to find the hole in the box, as the two wingers run up. The two Centre-Midfielders or the one central Midfielder plus the Central Attacking Midfielder will also move forwards, becoming the main pass distributors. The wingers will try to cross the ball into the box, despite the traditional weakness in aerial play, which is bettering with each cycle.
Though New Lusitania have plenty of strengths, there's no shortage of weaknesses to exploit, either, meaning they're games are frequently wide open, even if there's a clear advantage.

Mattijanan Roster and Information for World Cup 82

The Story So Far

Mattijana enter the 82nd edition of the football World Cup in an even more optimistic mood than usual. The side have just come off the back of their first ever tournament victory after beating Brenecia 2-1 in the final of the 23rd Campionato Esportiva and have climbed to their highest world ranking of 59th.

Manager Dusan Vukoja will be particularly pleased with the work his team have done. The 42 year-old was on the verge of being sacked after a disappointing World Cup 80 campaign, but saved his job with a third place in the Campionato Esportiva and a markedly improved performance in qualifying for World Cup 81.

Having said that, the marmots are yet to qualify for a set of World Cup finals and if they fail to do so yet again, there may well be questions directed at the team's management and senior players once more.

Having successfully shaken up the Mattijanan first team during the last two tournaments, Vukoja has once again opted to freshen things up with a change of formation after the retirement of midfield stalwart Jago Adrianov. With it comes a more attacking style and an injection of youth that both Vukoja and fans hope will add the extra pace, fitness and wow-factor that Mattijana needs to make the final 32.

Formation

Head Coach: Dusan Vukoja
Appointed manager around a month before his first game in charge, Vukoja left Division 1 side FK Puljanka for the National team job, having recorded the club’s best finish in 10 years with 5th, behind only Burges, the two Petrovijanka clubs and FK Revinka. The south-Mattijanan had previously spent time at FK Burges both as assistant and full-time manager after a spell at lower-table side Jamas, where he succeeded in rescuing the team from almost imminent relegation. Now aged 42, Vukoja did not enjoy a lengthy playing career due to injury, but says that coaching is his real passion.
With former boss Matej Ljubanik's football turning increasingly turgid, Vukoja was brought in to add some flair and pace to the national team's style. The new manager bounce worked at first, but a dire World Cup 80 qualifying campaign had many saying that the team was going backwards.

Unlike his predecessor, Vukoja was given a final chance at the 22nd Campionato Esportiva. There the team looked back to better form and a second-successive bronze medal saved him his job. After Mattijana's most convincing performance at a World Cup during qualifying for the 81st edition, there are renewed hopes that Vukoja will be the man to lead the marmots to their first World Cup finals.

Assistant Manager: Dominik Samikov (FK Burges)

The assistant manager at Championship leaders FK Burges hails from the North-East of Mattijana and began his career at Dinamo Legisaw, another division 2 side before then moving as one of the tactical staff to FK Burges, where he has since worked his way up the pecking order to assistant manager. He has an excellent tactical mind as well as good player welfare skills and helps out Ljubanik in both management areas. He has so far proved himself to be a capable aid.

Head Scout: Marcel Kuzbacher

Marcel Kuzbacher is a seasoned scout, mainly plying his trade for the famed Puljanka Academy. He has links with numerous players in the Mattijanan squad as well as the under-21 side and makes up the 3-man selection panel alongside Samikov and Ljubanik.

Fitness Coordinator: Jelena Neumanič

Jelena Neumanič is responsible for the diet and fitness of the squad, freeing up the main management team to think about tactical matters. She has a solid variety of exercises and is well-known for getting on player's backs if they don't keep up with their expected effort levels.

Psychologist: Samira Kazmir

Samira Kazmir is an experienced sports psychologist who has done work for both the summer and winter Olympic teams, the Mattijanan ITT side and the MRT motor racing team. She is responsible for the mental welfare of players, stretching from the collective mind-set to more personal issues for each individual in the squad. It's a far-reaching and often complicated task.

The Medical Team:

Head Doctor: Dr Charlotte Smitič
Assistant Doctor: Dr Mattias Buranov
Physio: Martina Laramazič
Physio: Mika Glasnić

The Players:
GK-Lucija Handanovic-#12-Age 26-FK Revinka
Understudy to Matej Handanovic for most of Ljubanik’s tenure, Lucija is now favourite to start between the sticks for Mattijana after some assured performances including some inspired saves against Brenecia in the CE 23 final. The 25 year old has impressed for club side Revinka in the recent season with both solid performances and heroic clean-sheets and will be tricky to keep out of a starting place.

LB-Helena Neumann-#2-Age 29-FK Burges

The Burges Player is a regular in the championship leading side and will provide a good defensive option with the occasional run forward to help out the wingers. Barring any injuries or unlikely suspensions, she will play all of Mattijana's matches,

CB- Rikard Illicić-#3-Age 23
The first Mattijanan player to move abroad, specifically to the top division in Buyan, Illicić was widely expected to replace Edvard Crajasović in the starting lineup on the retirement of the current first choice centre back and now has. He is modelled in a similar style as his older counterpart too. He's big, he's strong and despite being slower than other defenders, he is able to stamp his authority on attackers. Expect him to start matches, particularly against lower-ranked opposition.

CB-Katija Burnisevič-#4-Age 29-FK Burges-Captain

Another Burges Player, Burnisevič is a quick, skilful and sure-footed player capable of taking the fight to those attempting to run through. She is a dedicated player, happy to chase any lost cause until the ball crosses the line. Her lack of physical strength may be her weakness however and she could be a potential target for more powerful strikers.

RB-Kevin Krychowiak-#13-Age 23-Matbirjke
Having progressed from the Mattijanan under-23 squad, Krychowiak is the typical young wing-back. The Matbirjke player is full of pace, has improved his crossing to first-team quality and has the agility to stick with most players coming in the opposite direction.

Actually winning the ball off them is another matter and the youngster still has work to do on his defensive technique. He has age on his side though and will be around this Mattijanan team for a little while yet.

LM-Sophia Velezia-#16-Age 27-FK Ljubala
A mazy winger with less raw pace, but the ability to turn any defender into a messy knot, Velezia is a constant challenge to keep quiet on her day and normally gets through at some point if she hits top form. Her mercurial nature is her biggest and arguably only weakness, but Mattijana will be well-placed if she can get it together.

CM-Marko Hojbjerg-#7-Age 26-FK Snezn

Another young midfielder at just 26, Hojbjerg is a playmaker with good awareness and passing ability and is the perfect fit for the Mattijana midfield, particularly after the retirement of former enforcer Jago Adrianov. Useful for connecting the more attacking players ahead of him, he is also integral in providing the start or the killer pass in a counter-attack. When no forward options are available, he's not afraid to hit one and occasionally finds the back of the net from improbable ranges.

CM-Katarina Jakupovic-#15-Age 24-FK Snezn
Former captain of Mattijana’s under-23 side, Jakupovic was a key part of Vukoja’s turn to a more attractive style with Jago Adrianov, the midfield enforcer out and the instinctive passer promoted to a starting role. The 24 year-old Snezn player has impressed with both her technique and maturity in the early years of her career and is touted as a future Mattijanan captain after a successful run in the Under-23s.

CAM-Mattias Hoffman-#22-Age 24-Rapid Petrovijanka
Hoffman established himself as an impact player during the 79th cycle, scoring twice from the bench and making a substitute appearance in 15 of the 18 games. He offers a dynamic and direct approach when required and has cut open tired defences on a number of occasions. His consistency across longer periods has so far kept him out of the first team, but he remains a very useful and versatile player for Vukoja and with Adrianov's retirement, gets his chance in the starting lineup.

RM-Jessika Struna-#9-Age 26-FK Revinka

A pacey winger who's preferred play is to make a run and then a cross, the 26 year old Struna is a dynamic and different part of the Mattijanan team. Tipped for a move to Petrovijanka or Burges, Struna chose to stay at Revinka, close to her family and in the town she loves.

FW-Mathilde Lekarisa-#10-Age 29-Rapid Petrovijanka

Rapid Petrovijanka's 29 year old forward is a lethal finisher with a left foot that makes up for a lack of power with high precision. She enjoys running onto through balls and cutting inside to curl shots into the far corners of the goal. She is expected to play well having scored 5 goals in her last 4 games for Rapid.

The Bench:
GK-Matej Handanović-#1-Age 30-FK Petrovijanka
The 30 year old Mattijanan number 1 plays under Matej Ljubanik at FK Petrovijanka and has been a solid, if unspectacular option between the sticks for most of his career. He has good handling skills and makes few mistakes, but could be replaced if he fails to make the spectacular stops expected of him. He may also face renewed competition from the younger and more dynamic Martin Vaskaric.

RB-Dominik Illisević-#5-Age 31-FK Puljanka

Now a regular for FK Puljanka, Illisević is a punchy and pacey player with outstanding fitness and good crossing ability. His defensive technique is the biggest question mark, but if he can have a solid match at the back, he will undoubtedly be a danger coming forward.

CB-Sami Jorgenson-#14-Age 21-FK Snezn

Big Snezn centre-back Jorgenson is a new addition to the Mattijanan squad with the retirement of Ed Crajasovic. The 21 year-old has impressed in the PrvaLiga back at home, but will have more on his hands to stop the silkiest players in the multiverse if he is called upon over the length of the qualifying campaign.

LM-Sofiane Bisrali-#6-Age 23-FK Shalkar
From the less familiar setting of Shalkar in the South-East, Bisrali has the pace and skill that Vukoja is looking for in his wingers. A scary prospect for tired defenders off the bench, the 23 year old has a lot to live up to early in his career, but has the chance to do it on the biggest stage.

CAM-Juliana Kjofmann-#24-Age 25-Weststrand FK

Promoted from the reserves to the bench, Kjoffman is a midfielder modelled in the same way as many young playmakers across the multiverse. Good vision and touch make her passing exquisite and despite a lack of international experience, she will relish playing with the pace of the Mattijanan attack ahead of her.

FW- Kara Lorenzič, age 23, Matbirjke

Young striker Lorenzic made something of a breakthrough last cycle with a number of fine goalscoring performances off the bench. That sets her up nicely for the odd appearance alongside frontline striker Mathilde Lekarisa and to potentially take up starting duties next cycle.

FW-Andreas Weiss-#11-Age 31-FK Burges

The 31 year old Burges Striker has been a fixture in the Mattijanan team for a while now and has matched his performances for the national side with consistent scoring form for FK Burges. He is a poacher with the ability to be in the right place at the right time for any pull-back into the box. Also a good header of the ball, Weiss will be an intimidating target for high crosses if the Mattijanan plan-B is needed.

The Reserves:

GK-Martin Vaskaric-#19-Age 23-FK Antalja
LB-Lara Ljunavic-#20-Age 29-FK Revinka
CM-Kara Helenic-#24-Age 19-Matbirjke
RM-Max Karocanic-#25-Age 22-FK Revinka
ST-Daniella Alaba-#18-Age 27-Puljanka
It is difficult to tell where Alaba's strengths really lie as she is relatively quick, but not lightening fast and despite good strength, she is no match for more bulky defenders. Where she is effective is as a goal poacher, using positioning to find space to latch onto crosses and loose balls from fairly close range.

About Mattijana!

Mattijana is a large safe nation in Esportiva with a significant, but proportionate population. It spans a fairly large range of climates with the far north a colder area, the central region temperate, the south Mediteranean and the South-East semi-desert. Petrovijanka, the setting for this competition, is located almost exactly in the centre of the country at 214-232 metres above sea level. It has summer highs of around 28°C and lows of -5°C in the winter. There is a high level of sunshine for most of the year with precipitation mostly snowfall in the winter months.

Culturally, Mattijana can also be divided into six regions. The West of the country is largely Germanic whilst the centre North is a mix of Slavic and Germanic cultures, centred around Mattijana's second city, Burges. The North and East are more Scandinavian and speak Dansk, a language similar to Danish. The Centre (where Petrovijanka is situated) and the South are Slavic (similar to the Slovenian and Croatian cultures). There is an Arabic community in the South-East.

All Mattijanans speak the official language, Mattijanan. However, due to this not being spoken anywhere else in the World, English and German are well-spoken throughout the country whilst Arabic is taken on by the most intelligent students (in addition to English and German) as well as by those in the South-East.
There is no official religion in Mattijana due to this mix of cultures. Islam is popular in the South-East and parts of the South whilst some in the East follow the Mattijanan Orthodox church. Most people hold no religious belief, but believe in the universal philosophy of being kind, welcoming and helpful to others, known nationally as Jelenara. Even in religious communities, it is these principals that are most talked of with religious figures used to preach them.
Due to the mix/match nature of Mattijanan cultures and these philosophies, religious symbols are uncommon and religious tolerance is very high.

Attitudes to drink and sex are fairly liberal whilst there is good gender, sexual and racial equality. Social mobility is also good and the rich earn only twice as much as the poorest. Cannabis and similar recreational drugs are banned by law, with cannabis also forbidden for medical use.

The government follows mildly socialist policies meaning the tax rate is fairly high, but schools, hospitals and other public services are all well-funded and either free or reasonably-priced. Taxes on large businesses are higher than on small ones. The government building is the MattiStaja, which is situated on Staja square in the centre of Petrovijanka. All six regions have their own smaller congresses however. Politicians are generally appreciated and although public decisions are limited to elections and important political decisions where the main population is the most affected, most citizens feel well represented due to the numerous meeting and discussion opportunities with their local politician.
All parties follow a similar philosophy, but mainly disagree on where to fund the most. The MattijanaLeušaBuro is the current elected party and have an emphasis on public services, but other popular parties are the ViroBuro (who generally promote the needs of the environment) and the NašinalBuro (who promote funding for employment opportunities).

National Stadia

Due to a large land mass and numerous good quality stadia, the Mattijanan FA prefers to rotate games around a few different grounds. Having said that, the Stadijo Nasinal and the Stadijo Dinamov play host to the bulk of the matches due to the central position of Burges and Petrovijanka, their size and their reputation for providing excellent hosting services.

Stadijo Dinamov
Image
The Stadijo Dinamov in Petrovijanka is the second biggest football stadium in Mattijana and is one of the five stadiums that share the hosting honours for international matches. It is used on a weekly basis by FK Petrovijanka, Matej Ljubanik's old club, having built by them in 1940 and upgraded twice in 1972 and 2001. The capacity is 60,000.
The stadium is found to the north of the city's old town.

Stadijo Nasinal-Burges
Image
The Stadijo Nasinal is Mattijana's largest multi-purpose sports stadium with retractable grass and astroturf surfaces to cater for cater for Cricket, Hockey, Rugby and Football matches. There is a capacity of 90,000. The Stadium was built in 1985 and heavily upgraded just 4 years ago in preparation for the Cricket T20 World Cup. It is situated on the South bank of the Juliana river, just next to the water and just East of the NordesParke.

Stadijo Snezn:
Image
City: Snezn
Capacity: 37,000
Club residents: FK Snezn
Location: Western Snezn, not far from the old town.
Transport: 10-15 minutes walk from central Snezn, 10 minutes cycle. S3 tram or B3 Bus routes.

The Stadijo Snezn is situated in Mattijana's most northernmost city and is a more modern ground, with a generic rectangular shape and fairly modest capacity. This feature however makes it very accessible and easy to use, so a match here should be a reasonably comfortable experience, despite the cold. The stadium was built around 15 years ago, by owners FK Snezn.

Stadijo Katarina Zafarova:
Image
City: Revinka
Capacity: 30,000
Club residents: FK Revinka
Location: Coast, Eastern Revinka
Transport: S2 Tram route, 20 minute walk/10 minute cycle from city centre.

Another modern multi-purpose stadium, Revinka's regular evening thunderstorms mean that a roof has recently been added to the stadium to make for all-weather events. The stadium is already used for Hockey, rugby, football and handball and is named after Revinka and Mattijanan national Hockey captain Katarina Zafarova.

Garijo Ales Struna:
Image
City: Puljanka
Capacity: 40,000
Club residents: FK Puljanka
Location: Garijo Struna, north-west Puljanka
Transport: 10 minute walk/5 minute cycle from City centre. S11 Tram route.

An older, but very traditional stadium in a park just north-east of Puljanka's centre, the ground has progressed from humble beginnings as a playing field to one of the most recognisable stadiums in the country.
The ground has been upgraded in accordance with Mattijanan FA rules, but still retains much of its old history and is a beautiful place to watch a game. The most distinctive features are the arches spanning the length of the North and South stands.

WesterStadion:
Image
City: WestStrand
Capacity: 70,000
Club Residents: Weststrand FK
Location: Northern Weststrand
Transport: 10 minutes on foot from Weststrand city centre and main train station. B1 bus route from city centre.

One of the newest stadiums in Mattijana, the Westerstadion was built to reflect its resident's consolidation of a place in the Mattijanan premier league, which gave the club enough funds to move out of a small and battered old ground into a shining new 70,000 capacity creation on part of a former park in the north of Weststrand.
The ground is used almost exclusively for football, although there is talk of rugby also being allowed to take place at the ground. The stadium's modernity means it is accessible and comfortable.

Around Weststrand:
The most Germanic of Mattijana's cities, Weststrand is situated on the west coast of the country and is part of a more rugged section of coastline extending for hundreds of kilometres. As a result, the weather is generally windier than in most locations, with rain coming off the sea regularly.
The town itself has a more colonial feel to it, with imposing buildings on the seafront giving way to narrow, but buzzing backstreets containing a number of quirky independent shops. Watersports are also popular in the area. Cuisine is largely seafood-based, with mussels a very popular choice in the region.

Long Distance Travel:

International airports are found in Burges, Revinka and Petrovijanka, with some Esportivan flights also heading to Snezn. Shuttle underground trains from airports to corresponding city centres will be subsidised for the duration of the tournament. High speed rail links extend between all cities and airports, making travel to Puljanka and Snezn also relatively painless. There are express services between Petrovijanka and Burges, Burges and Snezn, and Revinka and Puljanka.
Those from reasonably local countries looking to travel to Revinka or Snezn may wish to consider travel by sea. Both cities have good ferry ports and road and underground links to the city centres they serve.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
WOMEN'S NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

Ranulph Bustamante was quite successful in his first year as manager of Abanhfleft, guiding the men's team to their second World Cup appearance, and his win against Nephara in the final matchday of the group stage of World Cup 75 confused people enough to make them think that Abanhfleft could have qualified, but alas, they didn't. But that doesn't matter, because he managed to guide the men to the World Cup despite a rocky qualification. Holly Jonasson did pretty well in her time with the Fleftic women's team to steer them through to the finals, but the women's team's time under Heinrich Wurzmann was both forgettable and deplorable. Now it's in the hands of young Ginny Katesmar from North Prarie to ensure that the women of Abanhfleft can emulate their male counterparts once again with yet another new-look team that's once again ready to take the world by storm. But can they actually do it this time? Let's find out, shall we...

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation: Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft
Demonym: Fleftic
Team colors: Blue, orange, and green
Style modifier: +3.5
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Manager: Ginny Katesmar (47 y/o, North Prarie)

STARTERS
GK: Stephanie BRYAN 32 y/o, Antslinngs Islands Ladies Image (#1), captain
Stephanie Bryan finally gets to represent the blue, orange, and green once again after over four years of sitting out due to a new reliance on the likes of Yannie Redborne and Yelena Valinovskaya to ride the bench while Victoria Carter is on form, but with Redborne now retiring from international footie and Valinovskaya recovering from ligament repair surgery, Steph will now get the chance to be seen riding the Fleftic bench once again. But whether she will be the long-term replacement for Carter and the rest is still up in the air as there are more promising keepers out there, at least according to Holly Jonasson. Finally, finally getting a run out as the starter for the women's national team for the World Cup 82 qualifying campaign.

RB: Georgine BAUM 21 y/o, Pascal Mashu Image (Kita-Hinode) (#2)
Another player with foreign roots playing for the Democratic Republic. This time, Georgine's parents are immigrants, or rather expats, from Pridnestrovia, who escaped the country after her father said a few things that were not to President Field Marshal Stepan Stepanenko's liking. Georgine is more than likely to play for Abanhfleft in the future, but stranger things have happened. Arkadia Zubarenko did end up playing for Pridnestrovia after years in Abanhfleft's youth teams. Baum has always played on the left before so seeing her on the right side this time could be a bit of a shock for her but apparently people trust Georgine to hit the ground running after being thrown off the deep end, so she's about to be asked to do the same for the Lady Revolutionaries in the World Cup 82 qualifying campaign.

RCB: Catarina SOLER 31 y/o, Keephall Valkyries Image (#4)
Soler has served as a dependable supporting unit for both center-backs, but once again she is a player that is played out of position in most international games that she gets to play. Soler prefers being a true center-back, but that doesn't mean that she shirks from the responsibilities of being a central fullback shifted a little to the right or the left. Soler had a chance to rise up to the senior women's team but a drop in form coinciding with injuries has kept her out of the national team setup until now. Now Catarina wants to prove that she still has what it takes to be an international quality center back.

LCB: Miranda SULLINS 25 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Women Image (#5)
An exciting prospect if only for the fact that she had gotten herself noticed through the Sporting Ceneisis youth academy, which had been a bit neglected by Artemio Peres in favor of getting players both locally and abroad for as much as his team's Bellinsgauzenian boss is willing to let him spend. Still, it wouldn't do to take away from the fact that she is indeed a good defender, if a bit raw even for the standards of the under-21 teams. And an international call-up such as thing can do no harm to her career. Right?

LB: Claudia ROOS 22 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies Image (#3), vice-captain
They once said that Claudia is the player on the under-15 team who is most likely to end up representing another nation once she hits the senior level. Abanhfleft is enjoying Claudia's services while she's still with the team, as she is already turning into a future star winger, what with her pace, crossing ability, and incisive runs into the box. But with Claudia's inclusion into the Independents Cup squad (albeit playing as a fullback to supposedly improve the defensive side of her game), it looks like Abanhfleft has finally secured her for a future spot in the women's national team.

RM: Stephanie WINTER-SLAUGHTER 24 y/o, Marinos Thimpodopoulos Women Image (Fhulghamous Peninsula, playing in the Fleftic Ladies' Premier League) (#6)
Winter-Slaughter's surname sounds rather weird when you consider her biggest asset is an unprecedented sense of justice, but it really is. Winter-Slaughter, while a competent midfielder with enough room to grow, became much more notorious for her actions both in and outside of the field, often helping opponents and team-mates at distress from injuries or pretty much anything else. Conquered some hearts for her kindness, funnily enough. Stephanie was given Fleftic citizenship on the recommendation of Heinrich Wurzmann after the disappearance of the Unified Sunrise Islands so that Abanhfleft could take advantage of her talents.

LM: ERIN Jensdottir-Jennings 27 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies Image (#8)
We finally come to one of the most controversial additions to Abanhfleft's Independents Cup squad yet. Not a person living in Abanhfleft hasn't heard of the story of Erin Jensdottir and her friend Britt Hanokssen. The two of them had gotten in trouble with an Anglatian gang and their friend Bisera Haralampieva, of Rosen City Ladies and Pridnestrovia women's national team fame, called on another friend of hers to get Erin and Britt out of trouble. They did so by faking Erin and Britt's deaths and substituting them for two dead bodies. Britt and Erin had ended up playing for FC United of Riuwiee in the seventh tier of Fleftic football before they finally came clean about their status, resulting in the biggest ever points deduction in Fleftic football history and a massive settlement package with Hunsen Loggers from United of Riuwiee for both Erin and Britt. Erin is described as the complete playmaker able to operate from deep or right in front with the forwards, which is why Heinrich Wurzmann recommended her naturalization in time for the Independents Cup.

RW: Elene LINER 21 y/o, Sarvusdalamoive Ladies Image (#7)
Even at her young age, Elene already has the look of a future fantastic keeper. Well, what else can be said about the Sarvusdalamoive Football Academy, which has turned out great Fleftic keepers like Maksim Varamoninov and Victoria Carter? Unfortunately, she's slipped down the pecking order, but only because Brook Arzate deserves the chance to start this time. She had a lot to make up for after that emotionally devastating penalty shootout loss against Schottia in the 9th Under-15 World Cup and she ended up not having the mental strength to get over the disappointment of the shootout so she decided to become a forward player instead. This way she hopes to emulate some of Abanhfleft's star forwards like Matthew Cave and Ruud Akinfenyor who started off as goalkeepers and then decided to make the move up to the top of the pitch.

CAM: BRITT Hanokssen-Hanks 24 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies Image (#10)
Erin Jensdottir's best friend and girlfriend, Britt has been called "too ambitious for her own good" by the man who would eventually recommend bringing Britt over to Rosenpfelblatz, Matthew Cave. Britt isn't exactly the best, most mobile, most skillful, fastest, or most accurate player available for the Independents Cup, but she makes up for it in her sheer never-say-die attitude. Other things that other players might consider lost causes are just more challenges for Britt to overcome. That being said, if Britt does end up making an appearance for Abanhfleft, it's probably more out of desperation than anything else. But still, no one knows. Maybe this is the tournament where Britt finally shines bright. But it still says something that pundits say that Ginny Katesmar is taking a risk by putting Britt in the starting eleven for the World Cup 82 qualifiers.

LW: Amelie RUSEV 21 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies Image (#11)
Amelie Rusev is the best player on current Fleftic under-18 team after Gareth Williamson. At just 18 years old, she's already looking like the complete winger package. Not only is she both quick and light on her feet and strong in the air and during challenges, she is ambidextrous, able to use both feet to send in long balls and crosses into the box when she wants. With that added crossing ability, Amelie is already on her way to the first team of Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies at such a tender age. Kasper Molak will surely look to make Amelie the successor to Raisa Korovina as the next Miss Ludogorets.

ST: Kelly McGINNIS 21 y/o, Hoventon & Corlington Town Image (Mercedini) (#9)
Kelly McGinnis could very well be the next Chelsea Stuart. Lord knows she's got the raw talent in her veins and her feet. Her only problem is in getting out of Besanza to continue her development and make sure that it's on the right track to actually making her the next Chelsea Stuart. Kelly wants to move abroad to develop herself in a world-class side, and she believes that the Sporting World Cup is her way to gaining that attention and getting that move abroad. She did well in her first stint abroad, winning a domestic cup with Mercedini's Hoventon & Corlington Town, but another potential loan move to the Gallian Union fell through and she's had to stay with Airbus Besanza for this season. This could very well change though as another opportunity could be opening up for her, but it's going to take her much farther away from the Fhulghamous than just Mercedini...

RESERVES
GK: Ursula QATINTIKI 29 y/o, Crisisbless Athletic Image (Nephara) (#13)
Qatintiki is a ferocious keeper who believes herself to be a good sweeper but unfortunately doesn't have all the necessary skills to be an actual sweeper keeper. Fortunately for her, she's managed to keep 10 clean sheets in the Premier Development League (Ladies' Division) for Sarvusdalamoive Ladies. Unfortunately for her, this performance hasn't carried to her first international call-up in the Sporting World Cup, where she conceded a total of 14 goals in the tournament. But the presence of an experienced back four in front of her could help her concede less in this tournament. Despite being a rapidly rising star in Sarvusdalamoive, Qatintiki opted to cut her contract and sign up for the Pridnestrovian Volunteer Legions in ESTORVIPA. She could actually be charged with treason for fighting for another sovereign nation but the SFA has pulled favors with the Ministry of Justice to delay her trial until the end of the Independents Cup.

GK: Bronwyn CHURCHILL 21 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies Image (#22)
Bronwyn is the daughter of Rosenpfelblatz City's new manager Joseph "Joe" Churchill, one of the most decorated managers in the sport within the Fleftic sphere of influence. Bronwyn came with her dad to Rosenpfelblatz and immediately settled in well with the Lady Sky Blues' academy. She is a traditional keeper who prefers to keep close to goal and catch or slap away shots from that position, although she is learning to become a more athletic keeper now that she's training with the likes of Yannie Redborne, Marfa Kirilenko, and Blaze Chrzanowska. It should be noted that Joe Churchill would have liked it more if his daughter had not wanted to be a goalkeeper, but at least he as a father won't worry about where she's been before, during, and after training because they're always in close proximity to each other.

RB: Alma WALKER 23 y/o, Rushmori Drawks Image (The Isles of Avon) (#14)
Alma Walker is a decent right back who looks destined to be an actual right back instead of the myriad wingbacks who seem to be cropping up like weeds all over Abanhfleft's academies. Alma is actually ambidextrous with her feet and can play in both fullback positions fairly well and effectively (kind of like Tonya Heaton) but she prefers to work on the right side of the pitch. Doesn't mean that she can't do a good job on the left, though.

RB: Queen YARNALL 18 y/o, Admiral Porcusces Women Image (#24)
A quiet and sturdy defender who for her age is already making waves not only in the youth leagues but also in her handful of appearances for the Admiral Porcusces Women senior team. Still needs some work obviously but she could have a very high ceiling indeed.

CB: Christy SHEPLEY 22 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies Image (#15)
At 6 feet 2 inches, Christy is already one of the tallest 17-year-old Fleftic central defenders ever in the Democratic Republic and its sphere of influence. Coupled with a supernatural defensive ability, it's a wonder why she's still on the bench and not starting, until one realizes that Christy is quite the thin and willowy girl. She's a good defender and good in aerial and dead-ball situations, there's no doubt about that, but she has to bulk up and get stronger if she is to become one of Abanhfleft's best defenders. She remains on the bench to make way for Miranda Sullins and Catarina Soler in this Independents Cup squad.

CB: Tiera WALRATH 20 y/o, Ogovlich Medusas Image (#16)
One quarter of the Ogovlich backline that won them the Youth Premier League title this season. Like Wilton Kaba beside her in the under-18 team, Tiera's main purpose is to win balls inside the box and then kick it right out of the danger area. Accuracy needs a bit of work though.

LB: Deborah RIDDLES 23 y/o, Keephall Valkyries Image (#17)
Right now, she's a left back, but Deborah is a natural wing-back who has the potential to develop into an out-and-out winger. Deborah is currently playing with the defense, but only because that is her best footballing position at the moment. Still loves to throw in a cross and will often clog up the left side of the field alongside the team's out-and-out left wingers.

LB: Tien GOODLETT 19 y/o, Ogovlich Medusas Image (#25)
The second quarter of the Ogovlich backline that won the Youth Premier League. Tien is more of an attacking fullback who likes to maraud further up the pitch and assist in the attack. She still gets back in defense more times than not but a particularly quick counterattack could still leave her stranded where she can be of no help to her fellow defenders.

RM: Trinidad KLEIST 23 y/o, Xemlice Rovers Ladies Image (#18)
At such a young age, Trinnie, as she likes to be called, is already developing into a no-nonsense center defensive midfielder, breaking up attacks and stopping counters. Unfortunately, that also means a lot of bookings and the occasional red card for her. Trinnie still has to learn to control herself, and surely she can keep a cool head now that she's playing on the international stage and under great managers in Heinrich Wurzmann and Miriam Whitaker?

RM: SIBUSIZWE Kiggwancha 19 y/o, Athletic Motonou Image (#26)
SIbusizwe's greatest strength lies in the fact that she can win the ball in midfield more times than not. Of course, most of this is against girls and boys on or nearly the same age as she is, but when she turned out for Athletic Motonou's senior side in the last few matchdays of the Ladies' Third Division season (with the title already wrapped up for Motonou) Sibusizwe looked capable of doing much the same thing against players who were much older and much more experienced than her. Sibusizwe won't have to do that against older and experienced players from other national teams just yet, but she will have to do it against her fellow under-18s from other countries starting from this tournament.

CM: Merida VANCE 31 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies Image (#20)
At just the tender age of 23, Merida has turned herself from a lanky and clumsy girl straight out of the academy with a future as a lower-league player into a vital piece of Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies' midfield puzzle, helping the Lady Foresters to both the Ladies' Premier League title and the Women's SFA Cup in the 2014-15 season. Now, two years later, she's still vital to the team then as she is now, and she will serve as a capable backup for her teammate Bella Maynard for the World Cup qualifiers and, if they make it, the World Cup itself.

CM: Abigail PAPADIAMANTOPOULOS 28 y/o, All-Inclusive Haranguer Image (#27)
Abigail is the tallest player in this roster at 6 feet 8 inches, taller than even her supposed lookalike Stephanie Bryan. Abigail used to play Sunday league with Anglatia's Ross Port Rangers before Fleftic scouts noticed her during the 38th Di Bradini Cup and she signed a contract with Wallace Partridge's All-Inclusive Haranguer. Partridge chose to sign Abigail due to her size and her playstyle which is very much reminiscent of one of the most famous (if not the best) players to put on the black-and-amber shirt in Sutalen "The Beast of Copper Cuprum" Desoka. Despite helping All-Inclusive Haranguer to a fifth-place finish in the 2022-23 season, she was never called up for Anglatia's national team, and with the country now returning to its policy of total isolation, Abigail was given Fleftic citizenship on the recommendation of Heinrich Wurzmann so the SFA could take advantage of her skills on the pitch.

LM: Cecily SEGOVIA 23 y/o, Riuwiee United Women Image (#19)
CeCe is the foil to Trinidad Kleist's hard-hitting CDM. The Oontaz-born central midfielder is the creative outlet for the midfield, setting up passes and long balls to initiate the attack. But that doesn't mean she shirks from her defensive responsibilities. Still, like Trinnie, CeCe is still a bit enthusiastic with the sliding tackles and will get her name on the referee's notebook a fair few times. Another member of the second-place under-15 team from Schottia who was included in the under-21 team, the Independents Cup team, and now the player pool for the 80th World Cup qualifiers.

LM: Charlene WILLIAMSON 22 y/o, Admiral Porcusces Women Image (#28)
Charlene Williamson is the overlooked twin sister of Gareth Williamson. The reasons why she's been overlooked is because her main assets in football are mostly pace, acceleration, physicality, and a good long ball. Charlene can also run with the ball or chase it for 90 minutes and anyone stupid enough to try to take the ball away from her would find themselves on the ground almost immediately. Strangely though, Charlene's physicality tends to vanish during set pieces and Charlene could now count herself lucky if she doesn't end up kissing the grass while trying to get a touch on a corner or a free kick. Perhaps that's why Sporting Ceneisis allowed her to go to their provincial rivals Admiral Porcusces.

CAM: Prudence WOODWARD 21 y/o, Duhblakk Aztecs Image (#21)
Prudence Woodward is the third and final player of Panemian descent to represent the blue, orange, and green for the Sporting World Cup. She is the younger sister of Julius Woodward and her future appears to be in central attacking midfield. Prudence is already displaying a taste for clever through-balls and occupying pockets of space in which she could create chances and even score a few goals herself. Prudence has also been rumored to be displaying more than just friendly attention and camaraderie with the team's resident lesbian Poppaea Fleet-Street but that's hardly important to the conversation. But although nothing has been confirmed yet, it could be said that it won't be much of a surprise if Prudence came out and admitted that she has a relationship with Poppaea. Also already a mother after an argument with Prudence led to a one-night stand with fellow under-18 teammate Prince William Luckless.

FW: Karen VILLEGAS 31 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies Image (#12)
It's very rare for someone as short as Karen to be a football player, let alone a striker. But against all odds, not only did she become a good football player, she's also become one of the best players of her generation. Karen was a prodigy even at a very young age, but she nearly ended up not playing football twice: first, when she was shot in the neck (not fatally, thankfully) during the Holy Catholic Revolution of 2008, and second, when the expected growth spurt upon hitting puberty never actually happened. But after seeing the likes of Sonny Torres, Chelsea Stuart and Alex Rousseau succeed at the top flight of women's football in Abanhfleft, she trialled for Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies and was admitted into their academy. Eight years later, Karen is now an international player and Rousseau's striker partner at Rosenpfelblatz.

FW: Zsofia DOLAN 30 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies Image (#23)
Abanhfleft in general, and the city of Markovsky in particular, has always been a melting pot of various cultures, faiths and beliefs, and Sofie is the embodiment of that multicultural spirit. Born and raised in the majority-Russian city of Markovsky to a mixed Hungarian and Irish family, Sofie inherited the hardworking spirit of the two peoples from which she descended, and when many others would have given up and quit, Sofie continued working her way up the ranks of Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies, and she broke through to the first team just in time for the Lady Foresters to achieve the Ladies' Premier League and Women's SFA Cup double. She moved to Lionesses in Armeia as part of the club's rebuilding process, after a plane crash killed most of the players of the old team, and her performances and general hard work have earned her a starting spot in the club.

FW: Annamarie SABADO 26 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies Image (#29)
Sabado has the makings of being "the next Fleftic super-sub." No less a footballing authority than Arsenal de Releinthi manager Godric Wexler said so after Sabado had scored the game-winning goal against Lutine to give Abanhfleft a ticket to the Sporting World Cup final. And, judging from her inclusion into the Independents Cup, Heinrich Wurzmann and Miriam Whitaker look to do the same with her for the coming tournament.

FW: Irina BABARUSHCHIK 31 y/o, Dynamo Shebchetsik Image (Mercedini) (#30)
Babarushchik used to be in (friendly) competition with Annamarie Sabado for the position of Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies U-21s' starting striker, but Sabado ended up being the winner in the long run as Babarushchik couldn't wait for Chelsea Stuart to retire (which is still a long time coming anyway) and the half-Pridnestrovian striker struck out for greener pastures in the form of Mercedini's Dynamo Shebchetsik. Now, as both Irina and Annamarie return to the Fleftic national team setup for the Independents Cup, they are once again back to competing with each other for the honor of being the next Fleftic super-sub.

STADIUMS
All football stadiums in Abanhfleft now have seats following a mandatory upgrade in 2000, but despite this ruling, many, if not all, stadiums still allow standing spectators during matches. However, in anticipation for World Cup qualifying matches, more security forces had been hired by the authorities to make sure that there are no standing spectators in such games.

View this page for a guide to the numerous possible venues for the World Cup qualification in Abanhfleft.

RP PERMISSIONS
Anything except killing, and I reserve the right to stage riots when I lose in home games. The chances of a riot happening increase exponentially if I draw and I win, in that particular order.

THE DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF THE UNITED SOCIALIST STATES OF PRIDNESTROVIA
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

It has been many years since Field Marshal Stepan Stepanovich Stepanenko was defeated in glorious battle by the forces of the Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft, many years since the greatest field marshal the world has ever seen was undisputably beaten by the forces of a faraway country that was still in the midst of recovering from a devastating religious civil war. Those years have seen humiliation upon humiliation bestowed by these meddling foreigners upon the once and only rightful ruler of the United Socialist States, Field Marshal Stepan Stepanovich Stepanenko. The nation, and our Great Leader, was forced to accept a humiliating peace with the "Democratic" Republic, which saw our glorious nation become a mere "client state" of these troublesome foreigners. In exchange, Great Leader Field Marshal Stepan Stepanovich Stepanenko, would remain in position as rightful ruler of the Democratic People's Republic of the United Socialist States of Pridnestrovia, as befitting his station in life. Yet knowing that he is only ruler by virtue of a foreigner's whim has weighed down hard on the Great Leader Field Marshal. This resulted in the great United Socialist States closing itself off from the rest of the multiverse, so that no foreigner would see the shame that had been wrought upon the Great Leader.

But no longer. Great Leader Field Marshal Stepan Stepanovich Stepanenko has decided that the time for seclusion is over. No longer will Pridnestrovia remain under the shadow of the foreigners that had forced itself upon our great nation. We will show that Pridnestrovia has what it takes to become a real and true member of the multiversal community. But we will not do it through our military force. Instead, we will show that we are the best in the multiverse through sports! Sports, which is just codified barbarism! This will show the multiverse that Pridnestrovia is the best sporting country in the world! We will defeat every other nation that dares come up against us!

(OOC: I love being a dictatorial country's propaganda writer)

BASIC INFORMATION

Style modifier: -5 (This time it's all defensive)
Formation: 3-5-2
Head coach: Gaëtano Bernardeschi (83 y/o, Abanhfleft)

STARTERS
GK: Ferdinand Julius ABBING 35 y/o, Dinamo Bender Image, captain
Ten years as the starting goalkeeper of Dinamo Bender and leading them to the Pridnestrovian Cup thrice in those five years is surely the sign of a great goalkeeper, good enough to dethrone Svyatoslav Alkaev from the number 1 spot and take it for himself. Ferdinand Abbing is an excellent space manager and can handle anything from inside his box and also doesn't hesitate to rush out and put fear in the hearts of rushing opposition players. (Basically a clone of Manuel Neuer.)

RB: Yuri Artyomovich TYMOSHENKO 34 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image (Abanhfleft)
Younger brother of Pridnestrovian women's national football team defender Yelena Tymoshenko. Like his sister, Yuri is good in the air and has a wicked good right foot that can send the ball into the back of the net if he hits the ball just right. But unlike his sister, when he turns crap, it becomes immediately noticeable during the 90 minutes of play as when he's crap, he's really, really crap.

CB: Branislav Aleksandrovich NOCHEVSKI 27 y/o, Shakhtar Rheinburg Image

LB: Adam Vladimirovich VADIMENKO 30 y/o, Centus Serpents Image (Cosumar)
It's not that Adam Vadimenko isn't good; it's just that he's tired of always being on loan from Sheriff Tiraspol. In fact, he spent three years on loan with Rosenpfelblatz North End in Abanhfleft! He did manage to break into the Sheriff first team when he was 25 years old but by then, he had already had enough of Sheriff and decided to strike out for greener pastures. Vadimenko's main ability is to make the last-ditch tackle that can stop an opponent from scoring, but a problem that has remained with him since his first appearance for Sheriff is that his tackles are almost like a hit-or-miss; one moment, he saves his team from otherwise clear-cut goalscoring chances by the opponents and other times, he's on the ground quicker than anyone else and is therefore left behind in the dust, and the opponents score anyway.

RM: Mark Ilyich POLZIN 32 y/o, Deschutes FC Image (Dunnes)
Mark Polzin has been in the Pridnestrovian national team ever since they made their first appearance in international football in the 58th Baptism of Fire in Mizuyuki and the Equestrian States, thanks to his impressive performances for Elektrik Admiralnaya, almost singlehandedly bringing them up to the Pridnestrovian Super League for the first time in over 30 years by himself. Of course, that was when he played as the deep midfielder who could pick out passes to his teammates in the final third. But when he was deployed more as a ball-winning midfielder, added to the fact that the upper-tier management of Elektrik seemed content to keep fighting against relegation season after season, Polzin decided that perhaps it was time to move away from the club that had given him his big break. He eventually earned a move to Nephara's Newrook City but, like a lot of players, was a victim of the ruthless nature of the league and was eventually cut from the team after only a season with them. There are rumors though that he has signed a new contract with another team, this one from the nation of Dunnes, and he hopes to stay there quite a bit longer.

RDM: Horea Vladislav ANTONESCU 28 y/o, Shakhtar Rheinburg Image

CDM: Mikhail Igorovich NESTERENKO 33 y/o, Dinamo Bender Image

LDM: Yuri Milanov LARIONOV 32 y/o, Vorpommern Nyqvist Image

LM: Klaus Ludwig KHVASHCHYNSKI 29 y/o, Union Rheinburg Image

CF: Boyan Metodiev RADEV 33 y/o, Marinos Thimpodopoulos Image (Fhulghamous Peninsula, playing in the Fleftic Premier League)
Radev's performances in Baptism of Fire 58, World Cup 71 and Cup of Harmony 63 earned him a transfer from Sheriff Tiraspol's bench and into the starting lineup of Marinos Thimpodopoulos, the Fhulghamous-based club that turned into last season's surprise package in the Fleftic Premier League, not only achieving safety within the top flight but also getting up to a 10th place finish, the club's best ever finish to date, which isn't saying much considering that that was the Mariners' first season in the Prem. Radev combined with Pruski international Lukasz Przyborowski and German-born striker Friedemann Aleshire to make Marinos the third-highest scoring team in last season's Premier League, with only Arsenal de Releinthi and Riuwiee United scoring more than the colonial club. Radev is currently on hot form and will look to pass this onto his appearances for the national team.

The Maximusian National Team

Eighty-Second World Cup Team

After a phenomenal performance in the 69th Baptism of Fire, the Maximusian Team is ready for bigger, better things. While the competition will be fierce, the team is confident that they will have a great tournament.

The notion of a National Team was first proposed by Nicholas Allen, head of the Department for International Athletic Affairs, in 2018. He dreamt of a day when LOM would be known for their athletic competitors. The Baptism of Fire seemed a great place to start.

Now, with a bronze medal under their belt, the TEAM is preparing to take on even more difficult opponents and has lost some of their key players. The reason for this is that the normal season for these men have begun. Most player's contracts don't let them miss any in-season games. Those who are attending the World Cup will to go through the grueling WC qualifiers and play their in-season games simultaneously. This makes the player's job even more challenging.

The National Team is made up entirely by young men from the Maximusian Major League Football Association, the most elite football devision in LOM.

South Covello National Team Roster

Nickname: Rebels
Style modifier: -5

Head Coach: Richard Hawkins
Assistant Head Coaches: Vinnie LaGuche and Joey Egermeister

After World Cup 79 and the South Covellan Revolution, the feisty Rebels elected to turn things over to the next generation. Richard Hawkins, previously the star goalkeeper, was named head coach, but the entire team was new. Vinnie LaGuche returned as well, as an assistant coach, and was joined by Joey Egermeister, a proud supporter of the Revolution and lifelong soccer fan who previously served as Acting President of the South Covello Soccer Federation after the Gregists were overthrown.

Hawkins and his staff hand-picked the new stars, and to his pleasant surprise he was able to find a young goalie who was almost athletic as he was, in Matthew Tyler. Tyler was just 19 years old and already almost as good as Hawkins was. In time, he would probably even surpass him. The rest of the team filled in nicely as well, defensively minded as always, and, as many of them had grown up idolizing the strong defensive wall, first for the Foot Slaves and then the Rebels, this led many of them to become defenders as well. So the good old Rebel Wall was still there, great and strong as ever. The team wouldn’t be letting in many goals this cycle, it sure seemed.

The Rebels would be playing a defensive 4-5-1 this cycle, with the sole striker being the young, awesomely named star Coconut Charles. The Coconut name, of course, was a direct insult to the Gregists, Lord Almighty Gregory and the others who forbid the mere mention of the work. It was sure to be a spectacular future.

However, the future wasn't all it was cracked up to be. South Covello fell way too early, in the Round of 16 of World Cup 80. However, they rebounded in World Cup 81, making the final before losing to Eura, and will look to finally hoist that elusive trophy this tournament.

Lineup:

GK: Matthew Tyler (Age 21) CAPTAIN
LB: Pat Hauer (Age 27)
CB: Cal Yachtwood (Age 22)
CB: Dmitri Woodward (Age 27)
RB: Paul Paul (Age 25)
DMC: Dexter Yankee (Age 25)

MC: Gerry Ollivera (Age 27)
RMC: Henry Ocho (Age 26)

DB: Reed Riley (Age 24)
DB: Jackson Jackweet (Age 27)

Revolution Stadium, Riverview

Revolution Stadium opened to start World Cup 80 and usher in a new generation of South Covellan soccer. The stadium is located on the banks of the Goldenrod River, and fans will be able to arrive at the stadium by boat should they wish. As the river is navigable in the portions that run through San Jose Guayabal as well, this opens up the possibility that some visitng fans from that nation could visit if the two nations face each other. However, as San Jose Guayabal appears to have withdrawn from international competition for the time being, that seems unlikely for now.

As mentioned above, the stadium is far more intimate than the old one, seating a relatively small 42,000 fans, with ample space for supporters as well as a small number of visiting fans. The views from the stadium are immaculate, looking out over the Goldenrod Valley with the river in view as well. For games played in the fall, it will just be an amazing sight to behold, even ignoring what is going on with the game.

The Cormorants dropped precisely two points through qualifying, and arrive at the World Cup as among the certain favourites. They're a side in their prime, with Aidan Brosque's old-school approach getting the best out of them, bringing the edge back into their game. For all the shuffling of personnel in qualifying, there's just two changes from the CR31 squad, and one's the third-choice goalkeeper.

Tactics
Image
As always, the Cormorants play hard and physical on the defensive and quick, broad and ruthless on the attack, especially loving to absorb pressure and hit on the break. Set pieces are also something of a specialty. They usually press hard and try and wear out the opponent, but are willing to sit back if they need to preserve a lead. The fullbacks are expected to overlap with their wingers and provide much of the team's width. The strikers - mostly, anyway - are all very physical and very capable of finishing, pressing high as the first defenders but also striving to get on the end of chances and to finish what the midfield starts. Nepharim play rough, some might even say dirty - but at least it's always honest, and outright cheating isn't tolerated culturally.

Staff
Manager - Aidan Brosque - Age 55
Assistant Manager - Bryony Johansen - Age 42
Aidan Brosque has come steadily up the ranks, and this feels like a natural capstone to his career. Brosque - known only as a player for his longevity as a brutal centre-half - cut his teeth at Chenoworth Harriers, forging them into a UICA contender from nothing with a focus on physicality and hard work. He applied that same philosophy and siege mentality to Crisisbless, renowned for their habit of choking - he took them to the Premiership title. After a somewhat acrimonious departure there, he knows he wasn't the favourite for the job (that was the Chromatik, Lisa Amos of Starling) and that's only made him more determined. Bryony Johansen has also spent some time in the hot seat, though with vastly less success at Extreme Hills, and was also a dominant centre-half.

Goalkeepers
Core
1 - GK - Andreas Swoboda (Image Holdenberg) - Age 30 - 39 caps, 21 clean sheets
A capable, reliable goalkeeper, Swoboda's quietly ticked along in the background. Until, at some point a few years ago, he managed to turn from being a consistent 7/10 into a consistent 8/10. His distribution is peerless, his shot-stopping consistent, his command unflinching. Very quietly, he's nudged his way into world-class territory.

12 - GK - Hesterine Mercator (Image Eastweald) - Age 25 - 16 caps, 10 clean sheets
Narrow-shouldered and rather horse-faced, Mercator carries the hopes of Nephara's future. She's outspoken on and off the pitch, unafraid to give referees and defenders alike a piece of her mind. A sharp, acrobatic shot-stopper, a little weak in the air.

1 - GK - Apostolos Tsattalios (Image Falourr) - Age 30 - 89 caps, 30 clean sheets
A very modern goalkeeper who sweeps behind the defence and has excellent distribution, Tsattalios has been a constant scapegoat for high-profile failures, despite an impeccable club record. After initially throwing him under the bus and leaving him out of the CR squad, Brosque's brought him back.

Defenders
2 - RB - Leona Rafford (Image 1830 Cathair) - Age 30 - 95 caps, 8 goals
A true larrikin on and off the pitch, with a decidedly combative streak. Lightning-quick running down the right, not letting her diminutive stature stop her. Has taken a couple more injuries of late, and might just be starting to slow a bit.

3 - LB - Marcin Close (Image Brinemouth) - Age 24 - 31 caps
An athletic fullback who has boundless energy, constantly chasing up the flank and tracking back diligently, a quiet and unremarkable professional of the pitch. With a maturity belying his years, Close just does what is needed.

5 - CB - Dieter Konoval (Image KT Moreazerua) - Age 33 - 140 caps, 4 goals
A bruiser at his core, Konoval's most at home bullying small, weak forwards. Not as tall as some might expect, and used to make up for it with pace in his youth - this, however, is probably his last tournament. He's been a colossus for the national team, and hopes to bring home one last trophy.

6 - CB - Dragora Steelhenge (Image Ramusok United) - Age 28 - 55 caps, 2 goals
A tall, assured centre-half who belies her age with a regal bearing and a real bite in the tackle. Mentally resolute, and has worked hard on her ability to recover from errors.

18 - RB - Eloise Kielseng (Image Kingsgrove) - Age 25 - 32 caps, 1 goal
Kielseng's been a quiet success story early in her career, making a mark in Ceni after leaving Athletic. Defends well, attacks well, fast, gets the basics right. All this despite being only the second Brenecia-based player to get capped for the Cormorants in the modern era.

19 - LB - Lux Vicelich (Image Sabrefell Moths) - Age 28 - 50 caps, 2 goals
Another quick, spiky fullback, with a distinctly dirty streak. A street kid from the Moths with a rough past, but a very bright present. Loves to go forward and can drop a cross on anything.

22 - CB - Roxelana Thorn (Image Revolutionaries) - Age 22 - 21 caps
Thorn feels like she could be the woman of the future. Tall, decisive and muscular, Thorn throws herself fearlessly into any challenge to keep the ball out of her net. The art of defending - the joy of defending - is not lost, not as long as Thorn is here.

Midfielders
4 - DM - Monica Rowland (Image Bastion, c) - Age 27 - 69 caps, 1 goal
A fiercely ambitious midfielder with a razor-sharp intelligence, Rowland is set for great things and knows it. A genuinely assured presence on the ball, Rowland makes everything around her calmer right up until she sends a ferocious bullet pass downfield. Euran by birth and culture, but her father, Keith, won a century of caps for the Cormorants - she followed suit due to the opportunities for female footballers there. Her driven, professional mentality made her captain material in Brosque's eyes.

8 - CM - Rusalka Klein (Image Crawford City FC) - Age 28 - 63 caps, 16 goals
A lanky, elegant player who strides through the midfield with a charming confidence. Very easy to watch in possession, diligent at winning it back, and her clear ambition and eagerness to leave a mark are an asset to her play. She doesn't just fade out of games - when she's on the pitch, you know.

14 - AM - Josie Webster (Image Raynor City United) - Age 28 - 12 caps, 3 goals
A tall, elegant playmaker who just makes it all look so easy. Plays with the gentle confidence of someone with nothing to lose, and the directness of a born winner. There's a certain sense she's here 'by default' - she only made a single appearance in qualifying, in part due to injury.

15 - CM - Circe Rosenthal (Image Directus) - Age 27 - 45 caps, 9 goals
A sturdy, classy midfielder who seizes the initiative at any given chance. Always getting the ball moving forward, and unafraid to get stuck into challenges on the defensive end. A model professional who accepts her role in the side, she got a lot of respect for stepping up after an injury to Klein last CR.

21 - AM - Chimera Moxham (Image Crawford City FC) - Age 23 - 40 caps, 14 goals
Aren't playmakers meant to be classy? Moxham isn't. She's arrogant, but not in an elegant way, she just always believes she knows the right thing to do, on and off the pitch. Perhaps annoyingly, she's usually right. Decision-making can be a bit flaky, but she has the pace, the eye for goal and even the defensive workrate to make up for it.

23 - DM - Tawny Shone (Image Sabrefell Moths) - Age 22 - 23 caps, 5 goals
A true street-scrapper, from the hard part of Sabrefell. That reflects in her play, uncompromising and full-throttle despite her relatively small size, scampering around and committing niggling fouls.and sneaky ankle-taps. She's far more than a destroyer, though, and that becomes clear the moment she glides onto the ball and picks out a perfect pass from range.

Forwards
7 - RW - Ishtar Fanaiyan (Image Eastweald) - Age 27 - 65 caps, 19 goals
Iskandrian by birth, Fanaiyan's endured terrible hardships and will take nothing for granted as a professional. Lightning-quick, a bastion of athleticism. Probably the star of the last World Cup, adding a real spark with her drive and directness.

9 - ST - Estrella Hawke (Image Directus) - Age 29 - 117 caps, 69 goals
Statuesque and athletic, Hawke's very strong, very quick and ruthless with the ball at her feet. Her first touch can be her downfall, and she's at her most comfortable charging forward at full pelt, but when she's in full flight she's an irresistible force. As a pure striker's striker, she's world-class. Scored over a goal a game in qualifying, while not even really playing against weaker teams.

10 - ST - Aristide Metzger (Image AFC Treason) - Age 24 - 15 caps, 10 goals
Metzger has had to be patient, sticking with his hometown club, but has steadily been able to force his foot in the door as Roddy Fraser age. And, no, he isn't nearly as clinical a goalscorer... yet. He's an all-action forward, with no setting to dial down the tempo. Plays hard and fast, and prefers power over placement.

11 - LW - Rowena Strongbow (Image Directus) - Age 27 - 99 caps, 29 goals
A powerful, old-school Nepharim winger who burst onto the scene a while back and has impressed everyone for club and country. She's got it all - pace, power, professionalism, and pfinal ball. Surely one of the world's best players, having never taken a step back in her career. The first woman to ply her trade in Eura's leagues, she never looked back.

13 - RW - Monako Saroszi (Image Ulsa) - Age 24 - 38 caps, 8 goals
A fearless, driving winger, unafraid to get their hands dirty to get back the ball. They exude a quiet confidence that manifests itself on the pitch as flashy, decisive moves, and they're unafraid to take on a shot themselves. Still somewhat raw, and on something of a goal drought.

16 - LW - Marisha Staunton (Image Crisisbless) - Age 25 - 24 caps, 5 goals
Is the classic winger dead? Apparently not. Staunton brightens things up with pace and directness, a fair right peg, a thunderous left. While a little lightweight in her early days, Staunton's breakthrough at Crisisbless came with a lot of work at the gym. She's a powerful figure these days.

17 - ST - Kurtis Bastable (Image Hornchurch) - Age 21 - 7 caps, 3 goals
There's been plenty of articles bemoaning Nephara's relative lack of striking depth of late, so the emergence of Bastable has come as a salve. A sturdy figure with a low centre of gravity, immense strength and resilience, a deceptive change of pace and an unerring eye for goal.

Home Away Third
Modifier: +1

Manager: Mór Császár, age 49
Assistant: Mezei Orbán, age 48

Home Stadium: Stade de Torgos (90,000)

Goalkeepers
GK: Sasa Szatmáry, age 26, Club Stein-los (F)
GK: Thorsten Gerber, age 31, CA Paulinthal
GK: Aswad Munif Shalhoub, age 32, OAS Royal FC Image
GK: Ambrus Galambos, age 25, Stein-los Turkish
GK: Lucas Lemann, age 32, Eletti Valligiani Image

Gerber has a solid grasp on the number one shirt, as his performances for both club and country have been above and beyond what one could ask of a keeper, as the goals that he does concede are often conceding from a position in which he could do little to prevent. Shaloub is definitely the more athletic and pure shot stopper, being the second choice by a clear margin over the rest of the pool, but there is a certain confidence and swagger in the way that Gerber carries himself that has his spot solidified. After a stellar season as one of the best keeper's in the league with Stein-los Turkish, Galambos not only makes the pool, but looks to be the last of the keepers who would make a trip to Apox of Valanora if the team were to qualify directly ahead of the veteran Lemann.

Defenders
LB: Juhana Jäntti, age 32, Sabrefell Athletic Image (F)
LB: Kristof Lakatos, age 21, Sardin United
LB: Florian Kuefer, age 29, Stein-los Turkish
CB: Neci Földessy, age 30, CA Paulinthal
CB: Renata Novaković, age 22, Baskita FC (F)
CB: Guðný Ingólfsdóttir, age 29, Tanrısal (F)
CB: Ralf Bader, age 26, Directus Image
CB: Torsten Mueller, age 24, Stein-los Turkish
CB: Christian Berg, age 26, Starling Image
RB: Raynaldo Puga Burgos, age 22, Santos Luega
RB: Dirk Freitag, age 29, Falourr Image
RB: Linka Polak, age 26, Baskita FC (F)

Listen, we all know that two years ago it was age that was the main problem with the Wanderers defense, as they seemed to always be a step behind in those crucial moments when the squad faltered. As a result, it is this group that has seen the most turnover and with a dip into the younger players, with Lakatos, Burgos, and Novaković all being included in the pool at young ages and good outputs for their domestic clubs. However the spine of Bader, Földessy, and Berg will be quite the force in the middle, while Freitag is as reliable as they can come in the rightback position. Kuefer is a solid enough choice and offers a bit of pace after Jäntti's long stint as the holder of the leftback spot, though Polak would like to be given a go in either wingback position after her stellar play for Baskita and the Young Wanderers, having believed she has earned her chance to be part of the rotation for the national team with her pace and strength.

Midfielders

RW: Fjóla Sigurjónsdóttir, age 32, Real Azuris Image (F)
RW: Jan Gersten, age 23, Bastion Image
RW: Ádám Berecz, age 24, Baskita FC
A/MC: Jörg Feierabend, age 29, CA Paulinthal
D/MC: Ríkharður Valdemarsson, age 30, Northern Union Image
MC: Jürgen Eisenhower, age 30, Revolutionaires Image
MC: Matthias Maur, age 26, Club Stein-los
MC: Sophie Nagel, age 25, Lunas FC (F)
D/MC: Edelberto Menéndez Trejo, age 26, Sardin United
LW: Dominik Krause, age 32, Ulsa Image
LW: Orsolya Gere, age 26, Sabrefell Athletic Image
AML/LW: Kati Szöllôsy, age 27, Tanrısal (F)

Perhaps it is nostalgia or undue loyalty to players that most fans have grown a bit resentful towards, but Mór Császár has decided to keep his midfield pool mostly intact, with only the loss of Tar Hunor to aging out of the pool. This is the last chance for the likes of Eisenhower and Feierabend to impress the rabid fans of the national team, as all their success with the club teams means little with the Wanderers having hit a bit of a skid in terms of performance while they have been at the core of the team. It is interesting that Ríkharður Valdemarsson has made the pool, given his age, but with Northern Union winning the league in Brenecia and his defensive work being a key component to that title win, he is being given a chance and might prove to be a very late bloomer and just the right amount of new blood to challenge the already established players to buck their ideas and try something new.

Strikers

ST: Ingþór Auðbjörnsson, age 32, AC Izotz Zubia Image
ST: Alexander Kárpáty, age 27, Crawford City FC Image
ST: Claudio Romano, age 29, Sabrefell Moths Image
ST: Katharina Schwarz, age 22, Paulinthal FC (F)
ST: Oriel Villagómez Acuna, age 21, Santos Luega
AMC/ST: Alexander Jager, age 24, Revolutionaries Image

Some believed that two years ago that Thor was on his last chance, but as the talismanic striker as he is, Thor has shown the ability to shrug of the effects of aging and keep going. While perhaps a half step slower than he was two years ago, his lethal touch from both foot and head is still among the best in the world and when paired with an absolutely blazing poacher in his own right with Kárpáty, it is clear that this frontline is still quite formidable. Lets not forget that Romano and Jager are no ordinary backups either, as those two would likely start for most other squads in the top 32 of the world, while Schwarz graduates from the Young Wanderers and into the full senior team, where she will not have to try to carry a team alone.

Formation And Tactics
Image

Mór Császár takes the reigns now and not much will really change on the surface, with the former Wanderers' midfielder using what appears to most people as the typical Pasargan 4-4-2, the most common formation played and employed by Pasargan managers. However in his take on the formation, the roles are more defined and the way he plays his two in the center of the midfield actually plays more like a diamond in the middle, though that is likely due to the sheer attacking talent that Feierabend possesses and his preferred playing as a more attacking midfielder. Unlike Tobias who wanted his fullbacks to get up into the attack when possible, Mór wants them to stay back, though he does want his backline to play relatively high and press in the opposition when the squad is out of possession. This allows the wingers to dedicate more into the attack and get good service into the plethora of good attackers who should be ready to convert at a moments notice inside the box.

Captain: Ingþór Auðbjörnsson
Corner Taker: Orsolya Gere

FIELD FORMATION

TEAM HISTORY
This is the official form of the roster, with a Reserve Lineup in addition to the Main Starting Lineup. The Main Lineup is full of familiar faces, but the Reserve Roster now has some new blood who first got exposure to international play last qualifying campaign. This is the lineup personally selected by the Drawkian International Sporting Council (DISC) to represent Drawkland: those chosen are undeniably the best at what they do and excel under the team chemistry and dynamic.
Drawkian soccer, and indeed, sporting in general, is mostly offensive-minded. This is reflected in the style indicator and in the formation. Drawkian soccer has not really been exposed to outside influences, and thus may look or feel strange to those used to "normal" football. Nevertheless, the players are still good at what they do, and prize in an enduring game, moving the ball around nearly constantly and keeping energy going, aiming to tire out the opposing team. Of course, Drawkians aren't humans, but you can read about that elsewhere. Oh yes, and Drawkian Soccer is a female-only sport. This may change, but not for a *long* time. This is because Gridiron Football is all-male, and the other two major sports, Baseball and Basketball, are mixed-gender. If there's anything a Drawkian loves, it's even formats and symmetric paradigms, hence why things shook out like they did. There are male players, but they play abroad where it's more acceptable, but they still don't get much attention.
Most of the team, including the manager, are made up from home-grown talent, coming from the highest-quality teams. However, a few have branched out to foreign leagues, mainly those of Terranea in Rushmore, that of Ceni and the Isles of Avon. More information on the players is to come later.

As far as these go, I'm fair game for anything. You should know what is and isn't drastic RP, and if you think your RP is on the drastic side, TG me first. But I'm still basically up for anything.
I'd like to request that injuries or cards don't do anything outside of the scope of a single game or maybe 2. Don't want anything tournament or cycle-ending. Red cards should be limited to late knockout stages, and I'd probably think that there should be no more than 2 players red carded per tournament.
Also, Ellzidan is a rather unique figure, as you'll come to find out, so you can go ahead and do some weirdness involving her if you'd like to make something less realistic occur. TG me if unsure.

Disclaimers of various sorts:
I don't know very much about soccer. If I RP something weird, it's because I have little to no experience with this sport. But whatever.
If you have any questions about anything involving me, this team, my nation, this competition, life, etc., feel free to telegram me.

Ones to Watch:
Nicolas Ära- When the word goalkeeper is mentioned, most Asopins will think of Jopavev Gamriel. Yes, he's good but out of the 97% Asopins that are fans of Gamriel, only 3% actually know Ära. In case you didn't know, he is of Dorsetian origin and plays for D'Rosé City. His brace of 12 clean sheets in a row helped D'Rosé to an all time record of 3rd in the Dritten Asopie Pezara Lëge. He is still 22, but has a lot of talent, so hell be an exciting prospect.

Alkabar Škačin- No defence is complete with out Škačin. Known for his Flair for tackling, almost every slide tackle he does is a clean one. He is also famous for his pace and ability to chase after wingers and pressure them, sometimes resulting in possession loss for the opposition. Škačin has established himself as a star in defending. He is a free kick specialist too, with almost all his shots on target.

Peteren Lou Maen- No midfield is complete without Lou Maen. His passing accuracy and shots on target each game will tell you why. Lou Maen always does the right thing at the right time. When he's pressured, he'll pass to a teammate, so he will not lose the ball. His ability to shoot finesse shots outside the box is stunning. He has made a name for himself as one of the finest midfielders.

Formalia Pip- Pip is an attacker which will do anything to make his team win. The only player to actually play for a foreign team, he has enough experience to be called a professional. His crossing accuracy makes it easy for him to create chances for others to score.

Procrastination... is the art of knowing you have a job to do but know there's like a year till it's due. It's elemental for the Asopin soul to survive in such a slow-paced world.
Bored of having to see Juventus winning the Schudetto too many times? Can wait to see that match where Ronaldo didn’t shoot at all? Tired of seeing Napoli fight for first place when there’s no point? Oh boy, you’ve found a new friend.

I got Theo Theodoridis as my flag model. Showing my love for Greece!

OOC: World Cup 82 Qualifying will begin on Saturday, October 4, 2042 and run to late April, 2044. Ages are correct as of Saturday, September 20, 2042. You'll need to add a year to the ages following mid-qualifying. Caps and goals are correct as of Darmen's pre-qualifying friendlies with Equestrian States and Banija. I'll try to make sure caps & goals from the friendly vs. Saltstead are added as well, but I usually say that before every tournament and never actually get around to it, so....

Venue information can be found here.

UPDATE #1: With the friendly vs. Saltstead now scorinated, the caps & goals have been updated. I've updated them up to and including the WC Matchday 3 match against Taeshan. Ages have been left unchanged.

UPDATE #2: Final 23 man squad for the finals.

Manager - Godefroy Abascal - 41 years old
Manager since: Friday, December 2, 2039 (Copa Rushmori 28) | Record: 121 matches, 69 wins, 22 draws, 30 losses, 270 GF, 183 GA, .631 Win %

Abascal first made a name for himself by taking Darmen to the Gold Medal Match of the 12th Olympics and winning it, 3-2 over Cocoabo Forest. Since then he has led the All Greens to two World Cup Finals appearances: eliminated in the group stage of World Cup 80 and by Nephara in the Round of Sixteen in World Cup 61. Abascal is a calm presence on the sideline, rarely giving out orders to the players on the field. His press conferences are also fairly calm, Abascal takes the time to formulate well crafted answers. Ask a dumb question however, and he'll laugh you out of the room. Abascal does suffer the occasional panic attack, usually pre-match.

Coaching Staff
Position Name Age
Assistant Manager Berhtoald Myers 36
Offensive Coach Iwan Perrault 49
Defensive Coach Evan Bullock 50
Goalkeeping Coach Martín Findlay 39

A solid coaching staff, they can often be seen on the bench conversing with one another over possible tactical changes. Sometimes they make suggestions to Abascal, but he rarely takes their advice in-game. Myers is occasionally called upon to fill in for Abascal when the Manager's panic attacks rule him out of his position on the touch-line, and Myers does a good job of filling the gaffers shoes. Myers is often rumored to become a manager in his own right whenever the top position becomes open at any of the big name clubs in Darmen, but he has so far stuck to his job with the All Greens. The other three assistants are all solid teachers of the relevant skills they coach.

There isn't one bit of inexperience among the members of the preferred starting XI. 31 year old forward Felix Lucanus will be taking part in his final World Cup cycle; he'll most certainly finish as the top all-time goal scorer in All Greens' history. His partner "in crime," Craig Blackwood looks likely to eventually pass him with his golden right foot.

In the midfield, historically Darmen's strongest positions on the field, all four players have 73 caps or more. Ó Cuilinn and Stafford provide the vast majority of the crosses into the box; many of those crosses will be headed home by Lucanus. Winton and Butler meanwhile, aside from being fantastic passers themselves, love to hover around the edge of the 18 yard box and clean up any loose balls that may appear following crosses from their teammates.

Assuming the captaincy from Lucanus, Alberich Goldschmidt is Darmen's rock between the back three and the rest of the midfield. The leader in modern era caps, Goldschmidt is an excellent clean-up man, capable of single handedly putting an end to any opposition attack. However, his overzealous desire to stop opposing attacks sometimes causes him to end up completely out of position, leaving the back three vulnerable. Goldschmidt is also an excellent set piece taker.

Darmen's back three are the least experienced group of the preferred starting XI; Klopas Maddox, who takes over for the retired Ritchie Porsche, only just recently earned his fiftieth cap. Nonetheless that's still quite a bit of experience. Maddox and Jean Virgo are both tall, each standing just shy of two meters, and can challenge any high delivery into the box. Similarly to Goldschmidt, center-back Silver Abbey is a ball winner and tackler extraordinaire. He can pass too, but lacks pace.

In goal, its the young but talented Hyman Campo. With 73 caps at only 22 years of age, its incredibly likely he'll end up Darmen's all-time leader in caps eventually, but he has a long way to go before then. Campo isn't the tallest of goalkeepers, standing at only 185.5cm, but is agile enough to cover much of the goal frame in quick, flashy, movements. A lunging fingertip save is likely to send the supporters of the All Greens into a frenzy.

Among the reserves, there are several notables. Víedharr Svendsen who has only a single cap but is considered among the most talented of Darmen's left center-midfielders, of which there are many. Abraham Cardoso is one such player, as is Buddy Pickle. While they all have a ways to go before they jump Winton on the depth chart, the competition is fierce to become the next #7. Aquila Freud, the first Darmeni to move abroad, has impressed in Taeshan and given Abascal a selection headache at the right midfielder position. Feliciano Espinosa, is a talented young left back, but needs to mature physically and mentally before he can truly challenge for regular starts. And finally, there is Billy-Bob Trudeau, who besides having an unconventional name, plays an unconventional position from a Darmeni point of view. Not to mention he's only 16 years old.
Information on players can be found either in the spoiler above, or in this RP here.

Darmen will alternate between the counter-attack and possession oriented football. When counter-attacking, play will likely begin with the defensive-midfielder winning the ball and making an outlet pass to one of the outside midfielders. While not out-and-out wingers, they have many of the same qualities and will use their pace to make their way down the touch-lines before crossing into the box. The strike partnership will always be defined as having one target man and one poacher. Atypically, it is the target man who will score the majority of goals, while the poacher and potentially a midfielder will take shots should any subsequent chances present themselves. However, if either of the outside midfielders are stopped before they can make their crosses, Darmen's chances of attacking will disappear for the near future as the team regroups into its defensive formation.

When playing with possession, it is the goal of the Darmeni midfield to lull their opponents to sleep by stringing together large sums of passes. Against highly ranked sides, sequences of 20-30 passes being strung together before the ball even enters the final third are common. Against lesser ranked opponents, its not unheard of for the team to string together 40-50 passes before going forward to attack the goal. Additionally, any of the Darmeni midfielders may choose to show off an individual skill, for instance they might hold the ball loosely in front of them, inviting an opposing player to make a tackle, before attempting to nutmeg that player as they arrive. Such antics are rare however when facing tougher opponents. While dominating the possession can often frustrate the opposition and cause them to lose concentration, it can just as easily make the All Greens fall asleep themselves and become vulnerable to the counter-attack. Either way, it is almost a certainty that one of the goalkeepers will be called into action, it's only a question of which one.

Defensively, man-to-man marking of the main attacking opponents is the preferred method of limiting the amount of saves the Goalkeeper is needed to make. The defensive-midfielder operates almost like a sweeper, only located in front of the back line rather than behind it. On corners and free-kicks, Darmen will exclusively mark their opponents man-to-man, zonal marking is considered too unreliable.

Team Roles
Captain: Alberich Goldschmidt
Vice-Captain: Zachariah Butler
Left Corner: Alberich Goldschmidt
Right Corner: Alberich Goldschmdit
Penalties: Craig Blackwood
Free-kicks: Alberich Goldschmidt

Team Personality
The Darmeni team will never argue with the referee. Indeed, if anything needs to be brought to the attention of the referee it will be done by either the Captain or Vice-Captain in a respectful manner (or to the fourth-official by the Manager). With regards to foul/dirty play, the Darmeni team will not provoke, or retaliate against any opposition player. Darmeni's expect each team to keep to itself and deal with its own trouble makers; any opposition player who attempts to prevent a conflict by pushing or pulling a Darmeni away from the scene will be promptly told off, as that is the duty of the Darmeni Captain.

Nonetheless, Darmen will play in a relatively aggressive manner. Tackles will be conducted in a way which ensures the opponent ends up on the ground, but causing injury will be avoided as much as possible. On set pieces, Darmenis will stand their ground and will not be easily pushed around, they will not however engage in hugging. In fact, if any opposing player tries to push past them, it is not uncommon for the Darmeni player to feign resistance before simply stepping aside and watching as the opposing player stumbles past on their way to ground. This occasionally backfires however, as the referee may mistake the incidence as having been a foul in the box.

WTF IS NEW AND IMPROVED PERU???

Exactly what it says on the tin. It resembles Peru, but more futuristic and fabulous. The alpacas are fluffier and softer. The guinea pigs are tastier. The llamas are cybernetically enhanced to follow human directions in 100+ languages, as well as carrying your luggage and fighting crime. The chocolate is richer. The cops are sexier. Nobody ever rolls a bus off a cliff because they all have sleek and modern self-driving hovercraft. There are even more kinds of potatoes. The supply of coca tea is endless, and if you are drinking it as a remedy for altitude sickness, it always works every time. Even if you already keeled over dead because you couldn't breathe, it will still cure you every damn time. Our coca tea is just THAT FUCKING AWESOME. The muña tea is even better. There is music and dancing in the streets every night, and there are more gorgeous Andean handicrafts than you can shake a stick at.

If you want your hovercraft to be full of eels, just ask. That can be arranged.

United States of Devonta Men's National Soccer Team

Coach: Dewayne Boivin [Ethane]
Assistant Coach: Bryan Mandalay
Demonym: Devontan
Trigram: USD

Goalkeepers:

1- Bradley Kozak Cooper [Team: Mariner F.C]
Height: 6’1 - Weight: 196 lbs - Age: 31 years old - Starter
Cooper was born into a world of soccer as his parents were both players in the National League, Cooper’s father sent him to the prestigious Dock City Soccer Academy at the age of five. Cooper played as a Defender till the age of 15, As a last minute decision his coach made him take the spot of Goalkeeper after the goalkeeper was injured. In the remaining twenty minutes of the game Cooper had over eight saves and his team went on to win the game 3-2 and become his teams new starting goalkeeper. Recruiting agents from the National League watching the game noted Coopers ability as an effective goalkeeper and continued to watch his performances throughout that season. Before Cooper could start yet another season at his academy he was recruited and signed by Riverton F.C a team in the National League. Cooper played for Riverton for nine years and in the middle at age 18 started playing for the United States of Devonta national men’s soccer team as a substitute goalkeeper against in the region of North Valheaven and North America Paradise. At the age of 23 he became the starting goalkeeper and helped make his nations team the #1 ranked team in his region. In a surprising decision Riverton F.C traded him for three players from Mariner F.C where he plays today and will play till retirement.

Cooper is known for his ultra fast hand-eye coordination, which allows him to move quickly and almost mystically in the goalie box. The ever observant Cooper is good at keeping track of the ball and can easily perform perfect passes and goalie kicks. Known also to play through pain and refuse to give up or let himself done. He is known to be very caring towards children and is a strong supporter of welfare programs.

7- Brandon Lee Kowalski [Carter Villa F.C]
Height: 5’11 - Weight: 170 lbs - Age: 25 - Substitute
Kowalski started playing soccer at an early age at his local recreational centers team. During his highschool years he played on the national stage in the youth soccer league while playing for his high school as the topped ranked varsity goalkeeper in the country. When he graduated at the age of 17 he was instantly recruited by the Carter Villa F.C as a substitute goalkeeper. He has proudly stayed with the team through its worst and last season became the team's starting goalkeeper replacing Tim Snyder.

Kowalski is known for being a very quick and observant goalie and very timid, Usually sticking to the box instead of attacking. He is also known for being very flexible. Kowalski is very loyal to his teams and it can get him in fights against rival teams.

11- Danny Cake Vanburen [South Saints]
Height: 6’1 - Weight: 176 lbs - Age: 22 - Substitute

Left Defenders [Left Fullbacks/Wingers]:

2- Johnson Alexander Brooks [Strickland F.C]
Height: 5’10 - Weight: 155 lbs - Age: 34 - Starter
Brooks did not always play soccer but instead played basketball as a point guard which he soon figured out had the same concept as a left winger which he started playing when he tried soccer in 8th grade, After realizing his love for the game he joined a national soccer training program and rapidly gained the skills needed to be a top player in the sport. He played one year for his high school then graduated. After high school he went to college at Desmound State where only in his first season he was recruited by Carter Villa F.C and played seven long years with the team scoring 20 goals as a left winger. As he wanted more opportunity, He played in the nation of Neo-Liberalis for five years on two different teams before returning and being signed with Strickland F.C where he has played his last two seasons and reigning his final two year contract with the club before his retirement. It was no surprise to soccer critics when the #1 defender in the country was picked for the national team, making him the oldest member of the team too.

Brooks is known for being quick and waiting for the right moments to strike out at an unsuspecting player and being able to drive the ball up and make quick precise passes or relatively accurate long shots towards the opposing teams goal. Its known by all players in his league that he never brags or acts like a sore loser and always has an upbeat attitude.

3- Jose Manzano Alvarez [Ranger F.C]
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 164 lbs - Age: 25 - Substitute
Alvarez played soccer in the Youth Soccer League in Santa Julia, New Julia before he started playing for his high school for four years, Although he was considered good and one of the best players in New Julia he was not recruited, But given a scholarship to New Julia University where he played all four of his college years and won one best player award and two best defender awards. After graduation he was finally recruited by a major league team which was his hometowns Astro F.C. on a four year contract, before being signed on a two year loan to Ranger F.C. in Oisinistan.

Alvarez seems to know when to attack another player for the ball or play more cautiously, Making it hard for players to get past him. Despite being able to steal and retrieve the ball he sometimes manages to lose the ball in sloppy fast paced dribbles and does not have the best long passes, Although his speed makes up the distance usually. Alvarez his an active community organizer and donates to charities often.

Center Defenders [Center Backs/Sweepers]:

5- Martin Paul Benton [Middleton F.C]
Height: 6’1 - Weight: 188 lbs - Age: 22 - Starter
A product of Blue River Valley High Schools soccer program Benton arises from high school soccer a three time MVP and many best player awards including many man of the matches. He was instantly drafted as a first round pick by Middleton F.C. During his first season Benton showed his worth as a fast and ultra observant sweeper for his team making many goals that could've been no more by knocking them out of the penalty box. In his second season his team made it to the finals. Benton played admirably till the last ten minutes when he made the mistake of passing the ball to player on the other team, resulting in a 1-0 loss.

Benton many strengths is is quick agility and his ability to focus on multiple points of the penalty box at one time, It is also not uncommon to see him quickly slide tackle without fouling. Critics have noticed he has gotten more aggressive on the field since his mistake and only passes short precise passes. If there is one thing everyone knows, It is he wants to redeem himself.

6- Daniel Kay Kindred [Nordland F.C]
Height: 6’4 - Weight: 223 lbs - Age: 28 - Starter
Kindred started playing soccer in the 6th grade for his middle school. By high school he made his varsity team his freshman year and in his Junior year was recruited by his state's only professional team Nordland F.C. at the age of seventeen. He was taller than most of the players on his team and known to be intimidating when you meet him. His taller stature also made him a natural born center back. He made himself known in the professional league as a tall player and can beat most in a jumping battle. After five years in Nordland F.C. he was loaned off for three years to a professional team in the nation of Seggenea. After a successful time in Seggenea and a best defender reward in that country, he was given back to Nordland F.C. on a four year contract.

Kindred's large size makes him an excellent jumper and he his not afraid to throw his weight around or slide tackle with his large feet, Although he can get to aggressive and fouls are a worry when he plays. His mighty long legs make his work as a centre back easy. Attacking he is more clumsy so he chooses to stay on his half of the field unless instructed otherwise.

8- Coby Lamar Rice [Loconstead United]
Height: 5’10 - Weight: 179 lbs - Age: 20 - Substitute

Right Defenders [Right Fullback/Winger]:

7- Brayden Liam Jr. [Ceceila United F.C]
Height: 5’11 - Weight: 174 lbs - Age: 27 - Starter
Liam started playing soccer at the age of 10, Since then he fell in love. Playing for his high school he received every best player reward from his school for the four years he was there. After high school he played soccer at Ceceila State University for three years before being signed by Danza F.C a professional football club in his junior year. Liam played well for Danza but a rocky third year prompted Danza to trade him to Ceceila United F.C. Coming back from a bad season playing for a different team Liam contributed in his teams championship victory the first year he was on there team.

Liam prefers a slow paced controlled dribble and is not as fast as the other players on his team, Although he is the best a dribbling and noted for his crossing capabilities. His slow dribble can be a problem as many players take opportunities to steal the ball, Although his slow pace usually can draw fouls from this. As a Winger his control allows for great passes and shots that are usually on goal.

9- Mathew Alexander Creasmen [Carter Villa F.C]
Height: 6'1 - Weight: 174 - Age: 18 - Substitute

Defensive Midfielder:

4- Isaiah Brandon Russell [Danza F.C]
Height: 5’11 - Weight: 177 lbs - Age: 29 - Starter
Russell’s father was a soccer coach for a local youth soccer program which Russell was made to play on. Russell’s father was very hard on Russell and was pressured often to do better, By the time he was in high school he had already been selected to play for a local minor league team. Russell played four years with the team and also played for his high school's varsity team. After graduating high school he was offered a four year contract to play for Danza F.C, Which he proudly accepted. Playing for Danza he seen the team make it to the semi-finals twice in a row. In a three year loan Danza traded him to Nordland F.C. At Nordland he shined with the rest of its strong defense although he played on the midfield. After three years at Nordland F.C. he was then resigned to Danza F.C. and signed another four year contract similar to his first.

Russell is not a good all around player and plays best as a defensive midfielder, He is quick and knows how to mark men and pass well, He seems to work best in tight situations and does not disappoint. He has admitted that he needs to work on his crossing and needs to improve his average level dribble.

10- Anton Roben [Cypher Town]
Height: 5’10 - Weight: 158 lbs - Age: 21 - Substitute

Left Midfielders:

12- Mohamed Zari Abdullah [Mandiana F.C]
Height: 5’11 - Weight: 175 lbs - Age: 29 - Starter
Son of two Muslim immigrants from a war torn middle eastern nation, Abdullah was born in the United States of Devonta. His father had only brought the clothes on his back and a soccer ball which he passed on to young Abdullah. Abdullah was invited to play for Maxwell Soccer Academy and accepted the invitation. Playing for the academy for most of his child and teenage life, Leading his team to win four championships and winning various awards. At the age of 17 he was drafted as a first round pick to play for Strickland F.C. for four years. He played for four years at the football club for his four years and got his team to the semi-finals twice. After his four years expired he went north to the nation of Rygristan and played for two years, Winning a championship there and a best player award both years he was there. When he returned instead of joining his old team he signed a five year contract with the struggling Mandiana F.C. Four years in his five year contract Abdullah has played very well for the once struggling football club. He has one championship with the team and has been to the semi-finals with the club. Rumors say he plans on staying with the team and resigning when his current contract ends, although in a surprising move he resigned with the club for four years.

Abdullah has described himself as a devout Muslim and prays on the side of the field every game. He is known for his versatility on all sections of the field, Defense or Offense, Left or right he can play. Dribbling, passing, crossing, and striking are his main perks. The only thing that brings him down is he can sometimes become a ball hog.

13- Tony Lamont Phillips [CLC FC]
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 154 lbs - Age: 25 - Substitute
Phillips played soccer for a youth league team most of his childhood till the age of 17, When he was selected to play for a minor league team. After just one year with the minor league team and a bad season he terminated his contract and started attending Franks University where had two perfect seasons and brought his team to the semi-finals his second year. After his second year he was drafted as a second round pick by Real Langston F.C. and signed a two year contract. Both seasons where good for Phillips and critics noticed he evolved a lot from when he played at a university level. In January of 2016 he resigned with the club for two years.

Phillips is known for his ability to mark men and steal the ball with quick reflexes. He knows how to get around people and make long passes, Although he tends only to be good playing in a defensive rule and performance varies when he is attacking. Phillips can get very frustrated at players and officials but usually manages to control it.

15- Anthony Don Crox [Menusa]
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 161 lbs - Age: 23 - Substitute
Crox did not start playing soccer till he was sixteen years old, Playing for his local high school team and managing to bring them to two city wide championships both years, But his team lost on the state level. By the time he graduated he received a scholarship to play for Kanza University and he took it over three other scholarships. He played for Kanza University for two seasons and helped them win one championship. After two years he was offered a large contract lasting two years with the Devonta City Capitals, a minor league team. In his first season he played well and his the Capitals made it to the finals but were defeated 1-0. In January of 2016 he was signed to a two year contract with Harding F.C after attending their training camp.

Crox is better suited for defense then he is on the offense, That is one reason he plays as a defensive midfielder. Known in the minor leagues for being able to mark men and pass, Although he is also known for being too aggressive and bad crossing. Crox as shown he can learn more from his more professional teammates and is very promising.

Right Midfielders:

14- DeMonte Creole Edwards [Harding F.C]
Height: 6’0 - Weight: 179 lbs - Age: 28 - Starter
Edwards started playing soccer as a little boy playing local neighborhood kids in his backyard. At age ten he was admitted into the youth league and they soon recognized his potential on the national level. His youth team won two championships and made it to the semi-finals three times, Partly do to Edwards efforts on the team. When he started high school he started to play for his high school team. His high school team went on to win the national championship and his youth team made it to the quarter finals. A year after playing soccer for his high school he left his youth team and joined a minor league team. The next three years he saw his high school team go to three quarter finals and his minor league team make it to the quarter finals twice and semi-finals once, Many critics were not surprised when he was signed to a four year contract with Harding F.C. after he finished his time on his minor league team and graduated high school. The four years playing for Harding F.C. brought four disappointing seasons although Edwards played well and managed to bring his team to the semi-finals his second year. Edwards was loaned out to a team in Seggenea for four years, managing to led his team there to two trips to the championships losing both. Edwards returned from Seggenea and resigned a smaller two year contract with Harding F.C.

Edwards is a solid midfielder and is known for his abilities to dribble and control the ball, His shooting abilities from long range and up close are also on par with some of the best, This ability to shoot allows him to be an effective passer also. Edwards struggles to sometimes stay in his spot and sometimes breaks formation.

16- Julius Xander Washington [Strag City A.C.]
Height: 5’11 - Weight: 171 lbs - Age: 23 - Substitute
Washington begun playing soccer at a young age for local youth leagues around it hometown. When he attended high school he chose to continue to play for local youth teams instead of his high school. When he graduated after limited success in the youth league other than a few awards, He attended George Town State University and played two surprisingly well seasons for his team, Breaking his universities record for assists and sending them to the semi-finals his last year. Before signing a two year contract with Mandiana F.C., an emerging professional soccer club. In January of 2016 he announced he would leave his club if his new contract requirements were not agreed too, but last minute a two year contract was signed. Instead of playing for Mandiana F.C. he was loaned of to Strag City A.C. in the nation of Strag for two seasons.

Washington is a moderately fast midfielder who is very versatile, Although he plays better on the offense. His abilities to control the ball and keep it are widely noted. He struggles with finding openings to pass but shows he is willing to learn from more senior players on his team.

14 - Furry Aya Etouguo [Strickland F.C]
Height: 6’1 - Weight: 181 lbs - Age: 25 - Substitute

Offensive Midfielders:

17- Tyrell LaMarcus Owens Jr. [Rogerton Valladar CF]
Height: 5’10 - Weight: 171 lbs - Age: 24 - Starter
Owens was the son of a minor league soccer player and was raised into a life of soccer. As a kid his dad made him spend countless hours practicing in his backyard. He soon joined his high schools varsity team and dominated on the statewide level. After high school was offered a chance to play for a minor league team or attend a university and play on a college level. Owens chose to play for Three Forks University and led his team to a semi-final and a championship. After two years playing for his college team he was drafted by Riverton F.C. and signed a four year contract. Since joining the professional football club he has helped his team to the semi-finals and the quarter-finals.

Owens is known for his short burst of fast energy which allows him to get around other players. This also makes him good at crossing, shooting, and passing. He lacks from a defensive standpoint.

18- Salomon Van Bundy [A.C. 317 Roses]
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 162 lbs - Age: 24 - Substitute
Bundy played soccer in his early childhood but quit soccer to play basketball. By the time he reached high school he decided to give soccer another try and joined his high schools varsity soccer team. Through the next four years of high school he made himself known with in his city and with in his state, Many critics were surprised when he was not offered any contracts by a professional league team. He settled for a scholarship to play soccer at Humphrey University where he played with some success his next four years, Helping his team to three quarter-finals and a semi-final. Finally after long negotiations with Danza F.C. he was admitted into the professional league for a two year contract. Bundy has announced he plans to leave Danza F.C and try to play abroad.

Bundy is known for being able to play in fast paced type games and can mark players and pass well, This also reflects on his shooting capabilities. He lacks when it comes to defense and ball control.

Forwards:

19- Gerald Van Johansen [Harding F.C.]
Height: 6’0 - Weight: 173 lbs - Age: 24 - Starter
Johansen’s father was a professional soccer player and loved soccer almost as much as his family it seems like. From his first steps in school he attended Gulf Coast Soccer Academy competing against youth league teams and other academies across the nation. He made himself known across the nation and lead his team to many high profile matches and lead his university to four championships. At the age of seventeen he graduated the academy early after signing with Harding F.C. a professional league team, The contract lasted four years. During his first game he wowed the United States of Devonta with his performance in his first match, He continued to impress to the point it was no longer surprising. It was not soon after his second year he became the #1 ranked forward in the league. Though he played well his team struggled as a whole till a better line up was made and the team made it to two championships, but lost both. He resigned with Harding F.C. for three years and is currently Captain of the national team.

Johansen is known for his fast attacking capabilities, He has noted skills in crossing, ball handling, shooting, and works best in crowded environments it seems. Johansen as great focus and is also a capable all around versatile player his only problem is he tends to not like to pass the ball.

21- Lamar Samuel Adams [Danza F.C.]
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 157 lbs - Age: 19 - Starter
Adams attended the Dock City Soccer Academy most of his child life, He quickly made himself known and became noted around the United States of Devonta, Helping his college expand their soccer dynasty. By the age of 17 he was already in talks with the professional league, He signed with Danza F.C. for two years in a deal that was reported around the nation. Adams became the youngest player in the league when he signed his contract. His first year at Danza F.C. went well but his team only made it to the quarter-finals. Adams resigned with Danza F.C. for a large four year contract. He currently is the second youngest player on the national team.

Adams is a quick versatile Forward, Using his speed to make good crosses and get through defenders, His dribbling and control are also noted. Shooting seems almost basic to him. Adams has also shown is worth defending using his speed. Adams sometimes gets too frustrated or has problems with bragging about his goals.

#20- Condor Jesse Madrid [Ignavi Borough]
Height: 5’10 - Weight: 158 lbs - Age: 20 - Substitute

23- Noah Lamont Hill [Isipongo Flash]
Height: 5’11 - Weight: 173 lbs - Age: 28 - Substitute

When he became a freshman in high school he opted out of playing for his high school and was offered a chance to play in the national youth league, Which he accepted. He had good and bad seasons but managed to get his team to two quarter-finals. By the age of eighteen Hill was offered a chance to play for a professional team in the nation of Rygristan for four years and he accepted. In his four years in Rygristan he brought his team to a championship and semi-finals. Recruiting agents noticed his success and he was signed onto Strickland F.C. for a large five year contract. In January of 2016 he resigned for four years, although Strickland F.C. agreed to loan him off to Banjian club Jinja F.C. for two years. At the end of his loan with Jinja F.C., Hill signed a two year contract with another Banjian club Isipongo Flash.

Velestria — The National Team
National Team Receives Changes

The Velestrian national team is back for the World Cup 81 qualifiers, and after a year off from international play, the Devontan, Christoper Tajo Mendez is back and read to take his team once more for another run in qualifiers; if the team is unable to get it done this time, this could finally see Mendez sacked from the job if he’s unable to guide the national team to the satisfaction of the Velestian Football Association. The national organization has said their goal is the knockout rounds of the Cup of Harmony, but it’s a very real possibility the team doesn’t even get that far. A lot of new changes have shook the team, from goalkeeper to the frontlines, Velestria’s national team is truly a changed one.

Team & Tactical Information
Selection camp brought new players into the fold as the team looks to build from the past with youth, adding new player and new additions to the team, its clear that Mendez has who he wants playing in the positions he believes will fit them best, selection camp saw some new selections for the national team; biggest question of all, how will Chris Banker fare? He’s the new national team first choice keeper, after Easton Thomas retired from international football; and Diamond Gregory is months away from being in form, she hasn’t trained for KF Quastyr since being transferred there two months ago. Likely, Chris Banker and two other young goalkeepers will fill the hole for national team keeper for the length of qualifiers, the midfield is mostly left unchanged, its actually a solid pairing and the team which used it to debut during the Campionato Esportiva 23 has adopted well to changes Mendez slowly implemented to the lineup. Now, the team needs to build off decent showcases at both the CE23 and the Baker Park Invitational. The backline is a mess, its going to be another chance test out the line as Roy Norwood is no longer a factor, Josh Reven is far out of form having demanded a trade from Blue Strike Calix and refusing to play and finally, Matt Borell is simply…old.

    Style modifier: -3.85
    Rank: 171st (KPB: 2.90)
    Usual formation: 3-2-3-2
Tactical breakdown: Judging from the proposed national team lineup that Tajo Mendez has put into circulation in recent weeks, a 3-2-3-2 lineup is meant to give a commanding presence to the backline. Former national team captain, Victor Parks is now retired from the fold, this gives rise to a need for a new captain a the first generation is effectively for the most-part gone from the consciousness of Velestria, a new national team is likely to emerge from the fold guided at the top by new players who have shown in LigVezia Series A. The midline looks healthy...Fursawa Utamara will be a lynchpin, at only 19 years he's looking more and more each day lie a bright star in that area. Given how the midline will need to function together, as a gel the early pairing at the midline look entirely foreign to us but also, at the same time worthwhile. Arguably the greatest player in Velestrian history, Yellis Eugene is now a backthought in the mind of Velish football, he's finishing his last years — in footballing of course(!) in Acronius; seeing him return to the Starting XI seems very unlikely with the new tactics built in place. The front line is also forever changed; gone are the traditions of the front, Kevin Kyrell along with Edfrom Heartland, for years the front power and goal-scoring generators for the national team are now departed. Unproven men and women will need to fill shoes which at one point saw Velestria rise into the top-100, now once more Velestria will need, with the utilization of new tactics and skills, climb the table once more.

Al Gyzhon — The Gryphons

STARTING ELEVEN

Chris Banker
Goalkeeper, 27 Club: Peachtree City F.C. Caps: 6, clean sheets: 3
International Debut: Myrasia (Baker Park Open Cup 2)

Chris Banker debuts for the national team elevated from riding the bench as a backup for Easton Thomas for the past two cycles, now; this is the biggest time of his international career, he’s been handed the keys to the net for the national team, and he has a big, big time ahead of him. The net minder for Peachtree City F.C., he’s 27 and some may question why he has the national team shirt over say…Diamond Gregory, the young goalkeeper who amazed us and many of the world on her way to KF Quastyr last season with the Doverhampton Wanderers in LigVezia Series A, however she’s out of form and will likely be a 3rd choice keeper till she gets more substantial playing time. Till then its Banker in net, and this is also a good idea, Banker’s career has been illustrious if not fantastic however the past two seasons in LigVezia he’s come alive and finally shown what a great and talented keeper he is, a fantastic choice in net for the national team; he’s the key from the transition from the Easton Thomas era to the future Diamond Gregory era. The back is secured for the national team; he’ll have a few jitters on the field of course, such is the case of playing top level opponents, but I do believe they’ll easily correct the issues he has, what a bright player they have at the helm to guide this team, Banker can easily direct his players on where to lineup and where to be, I definitely could see him wearing the captain’s arm band during the second half of the qualifiers, however, for now; he’s going to have to direct his backline, which is young but have played alongside him for years collectively as the unofficial ‘B’ team, and they did well at the second Baker Park Open Cup a few months ago. I expect Banker to do well, if not too well during qualifiers, and well…you should too.

Matt Borell
Rightback, 27 Club: Azuera. Caps: 5, goals: —
International Debut: Kita-Hinode (Campionato Esportiva 23)

Matt Borell has only three caps with the national team but he’s a firmly entrenched starter on the backline and likewise will be a big leader and speaker on this line, lining up with two other under-5-cap players, likely, Borell has been brought forth to the forefront of the backline as the player who will be able to dictate play on the far touchlines. Borell likes to jumpstart key attacks, so you can definitely expect him to instigate play on the far touchlines, he knows how to bet there and brawl with other players. Playing for the best team in Velestria, bring Azurea, Matt Borell had a successful season last year with the team in a back line that largely remained unchanged from last season to the beginning of this one. A large problem loomed with the team however, you can see this year, Borell is having a harder time with a backline that’s split amongst two twenty-two year-olds who are looking to take big steps this season and Jeremy Blackson, the thirty year old who was the heart of the Azurea defense for past seasons. Borell had largely been stuck in the middle of the verbal disagreements in playing style that has lead to failures for Azurea in international play; i.e. their collapse against Quastyr of Qusmo, leaving a foul taste in Borell’s mouth. Borell did well during his displays in international play; he has a long time left with the national team at only 27 and you could definitely see him going overseas at season’s end to increase and improve his football more and more.

Viva Avery
Centerback, 22 Club in Razenthuria: Azurea. Caps: 4, goals: —
International Debut: Myrasia (Baker Park Open Cup 2)

I’m largely surprised that Viva Avery has been under wraps for this long, and clearly being behind Josh Reven on the Starting XI had a lot to detract from her long awaited display on the national stage, but you can see she was a big and beautiful toy the national team was just salivating over using; a 6’10 centerback, can you even imagine a forward in that stratosphere? She’ a big, looming threat that offenses are going to have to plan around, her gigantic size will definitely work to her favor in games, she’s got a big upside to her, especially with her only being 22. This season, she’s going to want to make a breakthrough on the domestic circuit, Azurea’s defense has been in a quagmire with the Jeremy Blackson-youth feud ongoing in the Azurea locker room. Avery has a mouth so that could detract from her upside, she notably used in, defaming Blackson after Azurea’s exit from the Champions Cup hunt, she also attacked and deranged the team after a loss to Aquatarius S.C. There’s a lot that the national team is going to want to fix, or really hide; things that can make this national team look exposed, but Avery is the best fit choice right now at the centerback position; she has a big chance of being the permanent starter in the Cup of Harmony and beyond if she van prove herself here as truly a player on the rise.

Haroni Beaver
Leftback, 24 Club: Athletic Letson Town (ETN). Caps: 4, goals: —
International Debut: Myrasia (Baker Park Open Cup 2)

Haroni Beaver got out of Dragonpool right before the shitshow began. Since he left, the Red Devils have gave up fifteen goals in five games, its going to be a…loooooooong season in Dragonpool without the assistance of Beaver who was signed to Ethane’s Letson Town. Of course there’s concerned over the defensive capabilities of the Ethanian league and whether or not Beaver will be able to manage to remain in control; a reminder that the Flame League has produced a season in which 11 of the twenty teams finished with over 60 goals. Haroni Beaver is going to be a big piece for the national team moving forward, he’s got youth no his side and he’s proven he is at least halfway decent while in goal; I can definitely see him moving up and controlling the pace more. If playing in the Ethanian league will show you anything, it’s that defense scores goals too; and it’s going to be an interesting thing to see if Beaver can add some offensive firepower to Velestria’s attack. The looming question that we should all have is whether or not Beaver can prove himself in the tumultuous left back spot which seems unable to find a permanent defender to fill its spot; this is the third left back in as many tournaments not counting the Baker Park Open Cup to fill the spot. There’s a lot riding on this and there seems to be hope that he’s the guy. A good selection camp in Birnin Calix left Mendez pleased with this display he saw from Beaver and also had him claiming that Beaver has quote, “a place on the national team for cycles to come”; well, we’ll just have to see if this is really true or not.

Carson Singleson
Defensive right-midfielder, 26 Club: Peachtree City F.C. Caps: 3, goals: —
International Debut: Kita-Hinode (Campionato Esportiva 23)

The captain of Peachtree City F.C. in LgiVezia Series A, he commanded the midfield for the team; using leadership and expected high-octane play, he showed he knew what he was doing. Certainly, he's earned the call-up, after prowling on the sidelines always on the outside looking in; it now appears as if he finally will have the chance he needs to prove himself. At 26, he's older than most of the other players remaining in the national team; however his time with Peachtree City F.C. shows how much of a hero he is. Setting up in defensive sets, his points will be needed for the developing defense that's forming its nucleus. Last season was a time of growth for him, and we saw him play at the twenty-third Campionato Esportiva in Apox and all we can say is that there’s been massive growth for the player, both on and off the field; from a marriage to his high school sweetheart to captaining Peachtree City F.C., he’s done very well and he signed a four year extension with Peachtree City F.C. Of course, he probably should’ve gone overseas, however, he showed that he’s got a place with this team and is going to further develop more and more. As LigVezia Series A has opened this season, he’s been an exciting player to watch; the team sits in fourth place thus far and Singelson is responsible for a goal for the Peaches, he’s got a lot to do with the success we’ve seen out of the team thus far. But…but, the big question is can he sustain this success in the long run? We believe he can, but we’re hoping that the he can display that he has what it takes.

Na’ore Sa’kiera
Defensive left-midfielder, 29 Club: Blue Strike Calix. Caps: 6, goals: —
International Debut: Myrasia (Baker Park Open Cup 2)

O.J. Peaflower as you may have known passed away in his sleep during the course of the Baker Park Open Cup in Baker Park, his body still remains in Baker Park where authorities are overseeing an investigation into his untimely death; due to the loss of a lynchpin in the defensive efforts of the Velestrian national team and a lion of a man on the team, Na’ore Sa’kiera, the second-string player sees herself elevated to a becoming a member of the Starting XI, fresh off four successive performances with the B team in which the Velestrians finished fifth in the Baker Park Open Cup. Sa’kiera had a bright start to the season too with Blue Strike Calix where she’s valiantly lead and organized a strong defensive effort with the team only giving up three goals. Blue Strike Calix will likely look to sell Sa’Kiera to their sister team, Blue Strike Zoloroni of Mercedini in the upcoming months if she continues to tear through the league with relative ease. It’s clear to anyone who truly watches the game, she’s a gifted and talented midfielder, an assistant in the backfield to Furusawa Utamara and by extension the left striker. Sa’kiera will need to improve her speed and agility, there were times during the BPOC where she clearly looked out of position but I do believe Sa’kiera can be a big, bright spot for the national team they’ll want to build on going forth. Looking forward to what she can display in international play, what time of player will emerge? A go-getter or a player who sat back and ate up loose balls as did O.J. Peaflower.

Vronin Ingles
Right center-midfielder, 24 Club in Razenthuria: Rovers F.C. Caps: 5, goals: —
International Debut: Kita-Hinode (Campionato Esportiva 23)

Two seasons ago, Vronin Ingles arrived from then third-division Mount Gazania after signing a lucrative deal to moves to Rovers F.C. then under the leadership of the great Peter Fermen as the manager; moving to the team, he became a mainstay and has truly shown that he’s a committed work horse. The play we've seen from him is nothing short of spectacular and magical. While, of course he has much development left to do over the next few years, he's offered a glimpse of brilliance in one season with the Fullham Rangers. Billed as a quicker, faster Yellis Eugene, living up to the hype surrounded by the former position of Eugene has been thus far hard to fill, especially now missing his mentor; an F to the deceased Peter Fermen who succumbed to cancer before the most-recent LigVezia season began. However, with Felipa Medina coming in from Southfell United of Nephara who was big on lifting a team from the trenches, I think Medina could be a big piece who would come in and offer a big change for Ingles, offering him the transformation he needs to make the big step. To me, Medina is looking at developing Ingles; Medina was never big on selling youth pieces who looked promising, and Medina arrived after match day five in Fullham and he’s looking to turn around the franchise who’ve looked atrocious. The Director or Football too, Medina has went and thrown around adding pieces to surround Ingles which could help to develop him and of course this will help to create and increase his power on the national team.

Evans Thirdgray
Center-midfielder, 26 Club: Rovers F.C. Caps: 10, goals: 1
International Debut: Acronius (Cup of Harmony 72)

Last time around when we talked about Thirdgray he was a relative nobody who had come up from the national team reserves to suddenly being thrust into the Starting XI in time for the Campionato Esportiva in Apox, now he’s a regular starter and is going to be tasked with much more and suddenly he’s looking like he actually has to prove himself and do things, Thirdgray’s upside was big as we saw a player who really was able to shine and show the best of himself. Now, he’s going to need to build off that; we saw him in two separate friendlies and he looked dry and listless, he knows that won’t continue to bode well with the manager and he’s going to want to clean that up. In domestic play, Thirdgray has created a lot of chances up top for the national team, he’s looked like a true, sturdy choice at the front end, and he’s going to want to be the best he can be if he seems himself as a big piece in the future. Thirdgray could be a help while the midfield looks to learn from even as the midfield is catered to the wants and wishes of Furusawa Utamara who himself had a fantastic season in LigVezia Series A with Azurea last season. Truly, thr tandem of Ingles-Thirdgray-Utamara has been a successful project for Mendez, sure; but is it built to last for the long run? It shown to be a key piece when it was unveiled at the Campionato Esportiva, for now he needs to show he’s got what it takes and has the rights shown to be a successful piece to this national team which clearly looked tired and wants to fix things.

Furusawa Utamara
Left center-midfielder, 20 Club: Johno United (DAR). Caps: 11, goals: 8
International Debut: Banija (post-WC81 cycle friendlies)

Furusawa “Francis” Utamara, the best Velish player in the world currently transferred for N$9m to Johno United, Johno United last season went out and barely avoided relegation so once Utamara returns to domestic football, he’’ be concerned with pushing the team out of the bottom table lentghs of the table in the tough Darmeni league and pushing Johno United up. The 20 year old now must look towards the future and build on that with a big performance at during World Cup 82 qualifications, he’s a high percentage player, winter is winding down and spring is in the air as football starts again and the national team is going to need him to go out and show off with his skills. A major reason Utamara has been able to eclipse the heights off Yellis Eugene is because he’s been quiet in the big games; now, here is a chance presented before him for Utamara to truly prove he’s on the doorsteps of being a great for Velish football. Sure, his play has been limited to only 11 games so this is far from a perfect reflection from the level of skill he has, but I for one sure do believe that Utamara is definitely the best LCM the nation has, and it’s a good chance to improve his craft and catch the eyes of scouts in international leagues if he’s hoping to one day move up to another league. Utamara was Best Young Footballer in Velestria last season winning the season award for the title, he needs to continue this upward trajectory and expand what he can do on the pitch. Here’s the chance to do it right in his lap.

Chris Goddard [c]
Left Wing, 29 Club: Palame (ACR). Caps: 9, goals: 4
International Debut: Qusmo (friendly)

Nothing more than a solid transition piece to the next breed of strikers for the national team, for starters the time of the Kyrell-Heartland two-point domination of the striker position is gone. Goddard had adjusted well to being the No. 10 with the national team while additionally juggling his search for a suitable new club after two seasons at Acronius’s Palame has gone to waste. There’s a lot to look down on with Goddard, his play is not excellent. Additionally, Goddard hasn't played in sometime at his club in Acronius and has expressed his wishes for a move to a more-suitable league; Goddard is likely one of the biggest wastes of talent the team has gone thru for the national side; likely to expire soon before he can get any real action. However, there’s still a big upside to Goddard who shown that he’s still one of the premier strikers for the national team who can still produce key goal scoring opportunities when he needs to, hopefully over the next few UICA cycles, we can begin to see Goddard begin to transform himself into a supersub as the search continues for the next big thing on the front; there have been rumors that Reden Omar could be called up some time, however he missed the call-up sheet after a huge season in the Banijan circuit, one could fault Mendez for mistakes here, surely. Goddard has established himself as the person who’ll wear the captain’s armband after a good selection camp and it was affirmed by Mendez who announced that prior to the team’s announcing of the final 22 selected for the qualification stage. Expect big things from Goddard who’s playing not only for s bid at staying on the national team but also looking to shine for his future in club football.

Augusta Clark
Right wing, 19 Club in Razenthuria: Olympic Reading. Caps: 4, goals: 1
International Debut: Kita-Hinode (Campionato Esportiva 23)

Its only been five games so of course there’s a concern as to immediately axing her from future plans, but August Clark has to develop, she played below-average opponents in friendlies and only managed to pick up a single goal. However, Clark looked decent in the limited time she touched the ball against Kita-Hinode and Copper Cuprum during the Campionato Esportiva; she didn’t start against Cheergirls surprisingly…however, she has a large upside still yet to be realized; at Olympic Reading in LigVezia, she has scored three goals in five games and added two assists, she’s certainly in form and this could only bode good things for her as qualification starts up for the national team. I am not concerned nor worried about what she can do, I see only good things for her as she continues with the national team, she clearly has the skillset, and she simply needs to find the fine line of consistency for the national team to truly unlock her great potential. This fall, she’s definitely going overseas; its shaping to be a juicy transfer war domestically even if the overseas bids are not realized, meaning Augusta’s a hot commodity who needs to dazzle this season in order to keep her hot bidding up. BirninZula F.C. who’s rumored to have owners who are willing to open up the purse next season are rumored to be preparing a N$3.5m bid to transfer her to the Ja’barilands club while Vegai F.C.’s Ella Kabeya wants her as a developmental piece quickly. A good play this season and even better in the international qualifications could see her having a change of scenery and some nice cash in the next few months.

HOME STADIUM

Image

The national team plays from the massive vestige of Hartford Park from the nation's capital in Southampshire, often referred to as "the Park", the 57,603-capacity stadium has served as the national stadium of football in Velestria since 312. Its the normal home of the Velestria national football team and also hosts the finals of the Velish league knockout competitions. Commonly having been used for music concerns and other sporting events, such as when it was reconfigured to host lacrosse competitions for the 316 Velish lacrosse league championship weekend. In addition the stadium houses the offices of the Velish Football Association and the offices of the LigVezia organization which organizations the three different LigVezia leagues, LigVezia Series A, LigVezia Series B and LigVezia Series C. Hartford is a CEdC category gold stadium and is in served by four local rail stations and is 10 miles away from the Dyle Castle International Airport.
The football match crowd at Hartford is renowned for its crowd prestige and interest, dubbed the "Hartford Wail" which is known as being defeaning and has commonly frustrated opposing opponents when coming to Velestria. After renovation of the stadium in 317, the stadium saw a reduced capacity and the roar has become more muted. With a ban on some ultras being rescinded the stadium is expected to become a much more noisy environment and definetly will be a large phantom for fans and players of opposing teams.

Stadiums
Qualifying matches will rotate between three stadiums. You may choose which one if you are the first to RP the match, but Kirkenes is generally preferred.

Exhibition Place, Kirkenes (cap. 38,600)
Home of Kirkenes FC and recently renovated to include roofs and a standing section of 3,200 on the southwestern corner section. Kirkenes is the largest city in Kelssek and has a 540m observation/broadcasting tower. It hosted the Cygnus Cup final not too long ago.

Commonwealth Park, Vickery (cap. 41,500)
As the city of Vickery has cold winters and is located at an altitude of 984m, the national team sometimes hopes to gain an advantage by hosting matches against countries not known for mountains and/or snow here.

Stadium Konoha, Burnaby (cap. 54,400)
The home of Kelssek's most well-known club Burnaby SC. A landmark stadium for its retractable roof with strings of multicoloured LED lights. Burnaby is Kelssek's 3rd-largest metropolitan area and located on a plateau surrounded by mountains and the shores of Lake Konoha.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: MYTANAR NATIONAL POOL FOR WORLD CUP 82 QUALIFYING

Lev Repin has been made the manager of the Mytanar national team following Robin Hjik's move to manage one of the giants of Euran football in the form of Bastion. Repin has long been touted as a future national team manager and has sat on the bench as Robin Hjik's assistant during qualification for World Cup 81, as well as during the subsequent Cup of Harmony and the Copa Rushmori on home soil. He now takes on the main job following a relatively successful audition as the head coach of the under-21 squad at the last Di Bradini Cup, where he took the side to the final where they unfortunately lost against Cosumar. Repin can draw on heaps of experience as a player too, his 177 caps and 14 goals for the Mytanar national team along with 354 Top League appearances for Ararat Severyan domestically. This squad will be looking to build on a relatively successful return made during last World Cup qualifying and the Cup of Harmony, where the team reached the quarter finals, finally being beaten by Juvencus in a 3-2 thriller. Mytanija reached the quarter finals of the Copa Rushmori on home soil, being knocked out by one of the multiverse's best teams in the form of Nephara and this was generally seen as a decent result - the team didn't embarrass themselves at home and did about as well as they could have expected to. The World Cup now offers a chance for the players to build on this reintroduction to international football and many at the FSM are optimistic that the team could have an outside shot at qualification if Repin is able to use his tactical nous to get the most from the players he has at his disposal. The proliferation of Mytanar players going abroad to ply their trade is hoped to represent an advance in the quality of the players when compared to the team that tried to qualify last time around. This combined with Repin's tactical abilities, which are irrefutably a step up on Robin Hjik's, is hoped to be what Mytanija needs to make the move from mid-table in the group to the dark horses for a qualifying/play-off spot.

Player Information.

GOALKEEPERS.
GK: Pedja Kasun, 25, Ararat Severyan [MYT].
14 caps, 0 goals
He's been the Golden Glove winner in the Top League three seasons in a row and the reason for that - simply - is that Kasun is an excellent goalkeeper. He's got excellent reflexes and a great habit of not only saving the shot but parrying it away so that it doesn't fall to an opposition forward. He stands at 195cm tall too, so he's not only an excellent shot stopper but an imposing presence between the sticks too. This allows him to come and claim the ball at set pieces and when crossed in without any real issues. He's supremely athletic, able to rush out to collect the ball or clear it away at speed and is good at distributing it too, whether with his feet or throwing the ball to create fast-break opportunities. His excellent form domestically combined with his age could make him difficult to shift as the country's best goalkeeper now that he occupies that position fairly comfortably.

GK: Jasmin Savic, 29, Atletik Thessia [MYT].
31 caps, 0 goals
Savic has amassed a reasonable number of national team appearances during his career and he's a decent goalkeeper, but his performances domestically along with the rise of Pedja Kasun have relegated him to second choice now. He's coming off the back of winning the Top League title domestically and is full of confidence as a result. It's perhaps fair to say that Savic doesn't match the top goalkeeping statistics domestically because of the way Atletik play, with their style allowing teams to often counter-attack and as Atletik often only leave a couple of defenders to cover this it can result in easy chances for opposition teams. Savic may be a victim of this. Nevertheless, he stands at 190cm and is good at anticipating shots, whilst always ready to close down the angles for attackers to work with when attempting to shoot.

GK: Zafer Muminovic, 22, Tekstil Ibon [MYT].
2 caps, 0 goals
Repin is thought to rate Muminovic very highly and it's easy to see why, he's been one of the top goalkeepers domestically over the past couple of seasons, regularly keeping clean sheets in a Tekstil side that are distinctly mid-table most of the time. He doesn't have the advantage of a top-level defence in front of him and has still finished third in the Golden Glove award twice in the last three years. He's received his first two international caps in pre-qualifying friendlies versus Oppland and Zwangzug (keeping a clean sheet versus Zwangzug and only conceding from a penalty versus Oppland), and it is this that has many media outlets thinking that he may even be the second string goalkeeper ahead of Savic. It remains to be seen if there's any truth in that, but one thing we definitely do know is that he has now moved ahead of Lazar Obradovic, who Lev Repin chose as his starting goalkeeper for the Di Bradini Cup last summer. Muminovic now seems to be ahead of Obradovic in that particular battle.

GK: Lazar Obradovic, 22, Liria Prizren [MYT].
Uncapped
Obradovic seems to have packed so much into his career by the age of 22, he started out at 1923 Esca and was then transferred to Crvena Zvezda where he won a league and cup double in his debut season with the club. Crvena Zvezda have hit upon some financial difficulties, so have had to sell most of their better players this past summer and this allowed Liria Prizren to sign Obradovic - replacing club icon Adel Gudelj who has retired and joined the coaching staff at the club. Obradovic has already packed two transfers, a Top League and a National Cup into his fledgling career so an international cap is surely only a matter of time? He was first choice with the under-21s at the Di Bradini Cup and is undoubtedly a good goalkeeper, but Crvena Zvezda weren't all that impressive last season as they finished 9th. It may have been this that resulted in Lev Repin opting for Muminovic as - what seems to be - the de facto second/third choice goalkeeper. Obradovic only conceded 34 goals through 30 games last season though (the same as Top League champions Atletik!), so the poor optics of finishing mid-table may have affected him rather unfairly.

FULL-BACKS.
DL: Srdan Vukovic, 25, 1896 Ebor [MYT].
20 caps, 1 goal
Vukovic has pretty much settled into being a full-time left-back at this point in his career, although he has of course played further forward early on in his career and the attacking instincts he honed as a left-sided midfielder have led to him being the first choice left-back ahead of Tihomir Feric. Whilst Feric is defensively solid, Vukovic is that whilst also being fairly daring down the left-side of the pitch and his crossing ability and link-up play down that flank make him an invaluable member of the squad. He also has a decent playing relationship with the likes of Brkljacic, Fejzuli and Odonelec as well which can result in some wonderful build-up play when Mytanija's purported 'strongest team' is out on the pitch.

DL: Tihomir Feric, 27, Atletik Thessia [MYT].
29 caps, 0 goals
As mentioned, Feric is defensively solid and that means he will be rotated in and out of the starting line-up throughout World Cup qualifying. He's an old-fashioned defender, good at tackling and marking and he's also renowned for his immense reserves of stamina and his pace, which allow him to patrol up and down the left flank for a full 90 minutes. He isn't as great a creative outlet as Vukovic, but he may be brought on when Repin wants to shore things up a little at the back as he's generally seen as a more reliable defensive option if only because he doesn't seem to have the same marauding nature in him that Vukovic does.

DL/DR: Patrik Odonelec, 18, Atletik Thessia [MYT].
2 caps, 0 goals
The youngster had an excellent breakout campaign on loan at Energija-Nuklearna last season and it's believed that he did so well that he will be thrust into the Atletik starting line-up as a result for the forthcoming campaign. Adem Fejzic - his club manager - sold the experienced Mario Uzelac to Ararat, which has many in Mytanar football talking and unless they sign someone in what is remaining of the transfer window then Odonelec will be a starter at the club he has come through the academy for and supports. He's a versatile player, able to play on either side and he boasts good physical attributes as well as being an intelligent player. His anticipation and positioning are good at such an early age. Going forward he can be a little hit and miss, sometimes lacking a final ball and that will be something he looks to work on as he progresses. He's a cousin of Jasno (also in this squad) and Usten (part of the under-21 set-up) Odonelec.

DR: Petr Isaev, 27, Northern Stallions [BRE].
42 caps, 1 goal
Mr. Reliable. Little else can be said of Petr Isaev. He wished a tearful goodbye to his boyhood team Crvena Zvezda over the summer, as their financial difficulties led to a fire-sale of players to come up with funds. There is little detail on what exactly caused this issue but it has led to a number of key players leaving them and arguably none more high profile than Isaev who will now ply his trade in Brenecia. Isaev is another old-fashioned full-back, good at defending and perhaps not the most adventurous when going forwards. He's not that quick, but he makes up for that with good anticipation, he reads the game very well. He's been pretty much ever-present since Mytanija returned to the international scene and that serves to demonstrate his reliability and consistency. He's quiet off the pitch and a metronomic presence on it and capable enough of putting the occasional decent cross in from deep.

DR: Branko Nikolov, 26, Liria Prizren [MYT].
3 caps, 0 goals
Nikolov has been a back-up to Isaev for a long while now and it must be slightly frustrating for the Liria man that he has such a consistent performer ahead of him. He's slightly more offensively minded than Isaev, which will give Repin options if he desires his full backs to be an attacking outlet during WCQs. Repin has been experimenting in the friendlies prior to the qualification period and Nikolov played the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 victory against Qusmo. He was one of the older heads in that line-up and played well, helping his younger team mates throughout a tough game against a difficult opponent. Nikolov boasts a mean free kick too.

CENTRE-BACKS.
DC: Mojmir Anac, 25, Olympic Thessia [MYT].
27 caps, 1 goal
Anac is 100% the best central defender in Mytanija at the present moment and it's something that is no longer up for debate, at least not among domestic commentators. Anac can do everything, he's good on the ball, a fearsome stopper without it and a proper leader out on the pitch (even if he's a few away from pulling the armband yet!). He plays for Olympic domestically and has helped to drag them up the table these past couple of years and it will not be surprising to see him plying his trade at one of the top clubs in multiversal football if his seemingly unstoppable rise continues. Will be one of the first names on the team sheet in games against top opposition, but don't be surprised to see him being almost ever-present, his influence could be integral in Mytanija's defensive organisation during qualifying so he may become difficult to rest.

DC: Niksa Obadko, 27, Liria Prizren [MYT].
31 caps, 1 goal
A towering centre-half, Obadko was once touted as a future national team captain but he has issues with his discipline that have seemingly prevented him from quite making it that far. He's been sent off once the national team, but it arguably could have happened on more than just that occasion. He's the same height as Pedja Kasun at 195cm, but wiry when compared to the goalkeeper, although that wiriness shouldn't be mistaken for weakness as Obadko is a strong guy. He's a tough tackler and a limpet-like marker.

DC: Zelimir Apostolov, 28, Ararat Severyan [MYT].
4 caps, 0 goals
Apostolov has had a rather slow and steady career and perhaps doesn't get the credit that he deserves. He's a part of the incredible defence that Ararat have put together and he's arguably the key man in the back-line (it helps having Kasun behind them, naturally). Lev Repin, a former Ararat player (he is a supporter of that club, too), seems to rate Apostolov very highly though and has given him a chance to prove himself in friendlies versus Qusmo and Zwangzug and the team kept clean sheets in both those fixtures, so take from that what you will. He's an extremely robust defender and thoroughly prepared to put his body on the line to ensure opponents don't get a clean shot on goal. This tournament could finally be the opportunity for Apostolov to get the credit - from those outside Severyan - that he deserves.

DC: Kamil Jernejec, 24, Olympic Thessia [MYT].
2 caps, 0 goals
Joined Olympic from Arka a couple of seasons ago and he's never looked back really. He partners Anac domestically and that will work in his favour as Repin will surely recognise the mutual understanding the two central defenders have from playing together for their club team and will use it to the national team's advantage as a result. Jernejec isn't as quick as Anac is but he's really good in the air and boasts solid mental attributes as well as being good at distributing the ball. He can drop a long pass over the top for a forward to run onto or play a ball through a press to bring his team up the pitch and this could be useful in games against more defensive opposition (that are prepared to sit deep and only press the player on the ball) or those that operate a high press to try and win the ball in the Mytanar half.

DC: Damir Azanovic, 34, Crvena Zvezda [MYT].
36 caps, 0 goals
The oldest member of the squad and Azanovic is a true leader in every sense of the word, he's captained the national team on numerous occasions and will be remembered as the captain that led the national team back onto the international stage following the Mytanar Conflict. He's not quite got the legs he once had, but he was never the quickest and his superb anticipation and positioning still make him a solid defender. He's also an excellent passer of the ball too and his presence within the squad will be invaluable, even if he may not make too many appearances in the most important games due to Anac and Obadko being the first choice players at centre-half now. Azanovic is one of the few players not sold as Crvena Zvezda try to find money to solve their financial problems, with the club recognising his importance as a leader and also Azanovic point-blank refusing to be sold when the idea was put to him (by a journalist, not the club, but if the club thought they could sell him that interview soon put a stop to that line of thinking).

DC: Osman Muhic, 25, Liria Prizren [MYT].
2 caps, 0 goals
Muhic has learned alongside Obadko domestically in the formative years of his career after leaving boyhood club Litala '93. He's now a reliable centre-half and will be used a few times during qualifying as a rotation player. He's perhaps not as brilliant in possession as a few of his colleagues, but he's good at the defensive side of the game and his relationship with Obadko should see the pair play together a couple of times (Repin has clearly tried to select centre-backs that know one another: Anac-Jernejec; Obadko-Muhic; Apostolov-Zupan; Azanovic-Bobic. They've all played together domestically and that familiarity could prove invaluable given the short time Repin has to work on things during World Cup qualification).

DC: Drazen Zupan, 31, Ararat Severyan [MYT].
6 caps, 0 goals
Fairly similar to Apostolov in his style of play, a battle-hardened centre-back who can do the dirty side of the game and will try his utmost to prevent opposition forwards from getting a clean look at goal. He won't win any awards for stylish play, he's a straightforward centre-half who will try and prevent the opposition from scoring by any means necessary. He won't add as much in terms of building from the back like those ahead of him, but if a game is going to be a war Drazen Zupan is the sort of fellow you'd like to have alongside you. Should be noted that he's won two Mytanar Top League titles, each with a different club, so he clearly knows a thing or two about winning and that attitude should help in the dressing room.

DC: Luka Bobic, 28, Wofford Town [APX].
10 caps, 0 goals
Bobic is a solid enough centre-back, he's a little quicker than most Mytanar central defenders, which is often why he is selected as he can provide a foil alongside someone a little more gifted aerially. In saying that, Bobic is also a little smaller than most Mytanar central defenders, standing at only 5'10. He can often be beaten in the air as a result. He's good on the ball, having learned to build out from the back at club side's that preach about that being the only way to play the game. He's another victim of the cull at Crvena Zvezda as they scrabble for money, he's now at Wofford Town in Apox.

DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS.
DMC: Branko Brkljacic, 26, Atletik Thessia [MYT].
18 caps, 0 goals
Brkljacic has developed into a very good ball-playing defensive midfielder in recent seasons and had an excellent season domestically as he was a key component in Atletik's title-winning team. He has solid technical ability, with a good eye for a pass and it's something he utilises regularly, spraying balls all over the pitch to stretch defences from his deep-lying midfield position. He also does the dirty side of the game effectively, able to win possession back through a combination of strength and dogged determination. He's a tough tackler and not averse to leaving one in on an opponent or tactically fouling if he feels it necessary.

DMC: Predrag Vukomanovic, 23, Energija-Nuklearna [MYT].
3 caps, 0 goals
Vukomanovic is a real talent for Energija-Nuklearna, he signed for them over the summer from his boyhood team FK Magevskaya (following Vasya Kanadin, his former manager, who moved to the club the season before). It's almost as if he has been moulded perfectly to play the double-pivot role at the base of midfield, able to break-up opposition attacks and make tactical fouls without picking up cards but also having an eye for a through ball to send team mates into space going forward. Look for him to get games when the team plays two at the base of midfield (i.e. in the 4-6-0, 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1 formations the team has been using during pre-qualifying friendlies).

DMC: Duje Madar, 33, Energija-Nuklearna [MYT].
15 caps, 0 goals
Madar is an old-fashioned anchorman and has been overtaken by Brkljacic and his domestic team mate Vukomanovic in recent seasons. Technically not great, but his game is geared towards preventing the opposition's skilful players doing anything rather than adding anything to the Mytanar team. He won't get much game time but when he does he'll be a defensive shield and could even man-mark certain players if necessary. Good anticipation and aggression.

CENTRAL MIDFIELDERS.
MC: Tahir Fejzuli, 26, Sabrefell Moths [NPH].
41 caps, 4 goals
Mytanija's greatest creative threat, Fejzuli is excellent in possession of the ball, both when passing and dribbling. He can beat a defender with a fine piece of footwork and then play a killer pass to split a defence straight after. He's also a great threat from set pieces, both when shooting and crossing. His top-class vision makes him really difficult to defend against as he may not even be looking where he is going to put the ball and he often seems a step ahead of everyone else on the pitch. He's not great out of possession and intelligent opponents may target him as a weak link defensively. His performances for Atletik Thessia in their title-winning season led to interest from Nepharim club Sabrefell Moths, with the transfer being confirmed recently, for what is believed to be a rather large fee.

MC: Grigor Todorov, 30, Pikemouth [BRE].
37 caps, 1 goal
Todorov is more box-to-box midfielder than Fejzuli alongside him, he has plenty of energy and is willing to do a bit of dirty work as well as bombing forward to join attacks. In the 4-3-1-2 formation that this team plays most of the time he will be crucial as he has a real double role and has to contribute in both the offensive and defensive phases of the game. Had a good season with Pikemouth up to a point, when his form and his team's seemingly went downhill at the same time and then niggling injuries only served to add to a poor end to the campaign. He'll be looking to re-find his early season form with the national team here.

MC: Mehmet Elvahic, 29, Tekstil Ibon [MYT].
20 caps, 1 goal
Elvahic remains at his boyhood club despite ability which would suggest he should be plying his trade somewhere much more fashionable and well-known. Some domestically have pointed to a lack of ambition, but he really does just love Tekstil that much. He's a good defensive option in the middle of the park, content to sit and conduct attacks from a deep position and this makes him valuable against counter-attacks. He's an extremely intelligent player and opponents will have to watch for his trademark late runs to the edge of the box, something he does sparingly but often with spectacular results.

MC: Vilim Kupresak, 23, Olympic Thessia [MYT].
4 caps, 1 goal
Kupresak is one of Mytanija's great young hopes, a veteran of the Di Bradini Cup side that won the tournament and was touted as a potential 'golden generation' for the country. He's a big talent and offers everything you would want in a modern offensively-minded central midfielder. He's a lot like Fejzuli, but with a little bit more pace and more conviction when finishing. He's also someone who motivates those around him, never afraid to shout at his team mates and give them instructions. A key part of the Mytanar youth revolution occurring at Olympic Thessia (along with Anac, Jernejec, Petrovic and Zebic).

MC: Alen Hrdaljko, 21, CDSA [MYT].
3 caps, 0 goals
Hrdaljko already has a huge reputation, he's captained both his club side, the under-21 (where he got up the noses of almost everybody, most notably the entire Baker Park team!) and senior national teams, been discussed in foreign newspapers due to the unusual fact his surname requires 6 letters from the middle row of a standard QWERTY keyboard and is actually a fantastic player to boot. Hrdaljko is combative, extremely good on the ball and the fact he captained the national team on only his 2nd cap demonstrates how highly he is rated by Lev Repin. A tough tackler and occasionally temperamental, he'll be no stranger to the referee's notebook throughout WCQs.

MC: Radovan Pogaenik, 20, Liria Prizren [MYT].
3 caps, 0 goals
Another creative presence in the centre of midfield, but Pogaenik isn't really in the mould of a Fejzuli or a Kupresak. He's a tall midfielder who is excellent on the ball and boasts a fearsome shot. He can glide past opponents with the ball at his feet whilst holding off those that are able to get close to him due to his size and strength.

MC: Mateja Stojkovic, 30, Ararat Severyan [MYT].
20 caps, 0 goals
Stojkovic is a less mobile version of several of the players above, he's a great passer of the ball and a tenacious competitor, but he's not going to beat an opponent with a piece of skill or any speed. His experience will make him important as a fringe player.

MC: Jeda Mehmedic, 30, Liria Prizren [MYT].
17 caps, 0 goals
An almost like-for-like replacement for Todorov, if one is going to be necessary, Mehmedic is another fringe player who won't get too much playing time, but could be important were there to be any injuries ahead of him. He's a bit of a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none sort of player.

ATTACKING MIDFIELDERS.
AMC: Jasno Odonelec, 23, 1912 Stelburg [STL].
28 caps, 5 goals
Won the Young Player of the Year award in his debut season with 1912 Stelburg as they finished 3rd in a close title race. Odonelec boasts a fierce shot, quick feet and is not afraid of a physical confrontation. He earned the nickname «le fantôme» in Prahecq for his ability to find space and not be noticed by opposition defenders. Odonelec would have been eligible to represent Prahecq internationally, he was born there to Mytanar parents. He's now an icon in the multicultural banlieue Clichy-sous-Bois after growing up there and playing for the club, taking them to UICA competitions and Coupe Prahecqoise victory in his time at the club.

AMC: Ermin Drzic, 24, Workers Union [EUR].
5 caps, 0 goals
Drzic is a versatile player, having played as a striker, second striker and attacking midfielder in his career. He seems to have settle as an attacking midfielder with Euran club Workers Union where he managed 14 goals and 11 assists in 38 games last season. He's also an excellent passer, known for his flicked through balls when he has his back to goal. He'll play a crucial role when Repin decides to employ the 4-6-0.

AMC: Maks Shishkin, 18, Energija Chernovets [STL].
Uncapped
An extremely promising youngster who probably won't get too much game time, but if he does don't expect him to shy away from the spotlight due to his tender age or his short stature (he's only 167cm!). He's already played three full seasons of domestic football, two with hometown club FK Magevskaya and one with Energija-Nuklearna and his excellent performances have earned him a move to Energija Chernovets who finished 4th in the Republikaliga last season. An excellent dribbler of the ball it almost appears that the ball is stuck to his feet at times, although his youthful exuberance can mean he is occasionally guilty of overplaying the situation and holding onto the ball for a little bit too long.

WINGERS.
ML/AML: Brajko Gavrilovic, 23, 1896 Ebor [MYT].
1 cap, 0 goals
A tall, pacy winger who opponents will find difficult to deal with due to his unusual combination of attributes. Gavrilovic is a good crosser of the ball and quick, whilst also being a threat aerially, look for diagonal balls to him against smaller full-backs to be utilised when the 1896 Ebor man is on the pitch. Not the greatest finisher, but it's the chances he'll create that led to his inclusion in the national pool.

ML/MC/AML/AMC: Dalibor Vlahovic, 23, Ararat Severyan [MYT].
3 caps, 0 goals
An extremely versatile player who can play back in central midfield if necessary or down the wing or as a number ten. Vlahovic is a very skilled player too and he's not just in the squad due to his versatility by any means. A consistent performer for a strong Ararat side domestically, Vlahovic isn't as quick as Kalinic or Gavrilovic but he's technically solid, able to dribble past an opponent and an excellent passer and crosser of the ball. Look for him to hit the occasional venomous long shot on goal too.

AML/AMR: Boris Kalinic, 26, Directus [EUR].
4 caps, 1 goal
Kalinic has long been ignored by the Mytanar national team set-up, but with Lev Repin in charge he's been recalled and it looks like he'll finally have the chance to show everyone exactly why he's played in a UICA Champions' Cup semi final with his club side Directus. He scored 14 goals and created 13 more for Directus as they finished runners-up in the Euraleague last season. He's very quick and direct and whilst he will be no help defensively, the offensive output he'll add could prove invaluable in either the 4-6-0 or 4-2-3-1 that Repin has started to employ.

MR/AMR: Sinisa Nikic, 27, Marianne [PRH].
5 caps, 0 goals
Moved to Marianne in Prahecq for a change of scenery, Nikic is a more defensively responsible option down the right-hand side, whilst also being a solid crosser of the ball and having some pace to beat an opponent if necessary. Kalinic will be the first choice, but Nikic is a reasonable deputy.

STRIKERS.
ST/TQ: Jezdimir Ocokoljic, 23, Newrook City [NPH].
42 caps, 17 goals
Mytanija's best player at the moment. Ocokoljic is a bona fide star and moving up a level in moving to Newrook City has only served to confirm that as his performances remain as spectacular as ever. Scored 23 goals and finished in the Team of the Year as Newrook City came 5th in the Premiership last term, he operated mainly as a trequartista with his club side but he is more than capable of playing a variety of roles up front. A good dribbler, he'll embarrass any opponents that look to give him particularly rough treatment with his quick feet and trickery. His finishing is pinpoint precise too and he's decent from free kicks for this reason as well. He's extremely adept at finding space, his off-the-ball movement makes him a nightmare to defend against. Ocokoljic will take on even more tactical importance with Repin in charge too, given the variety of formations the new manager is looking to employ.

ST: Nebojsa Aleksic, 27, Tekstil Ibon [MYT].
26 caps, 6 goals
A real modern day complete forward, Aleksic offers height along with his pace and is a very good finisher at domestic level, his goal scoring record with the national team isn't quite as good. He won't bring as much to the build-up play as some of the others, but if he is given a chance in front of goal he will likely take it. Aleksic is a player that has played lower-league football for his hometown club Tekstil in the past and this means he is fully prepared to get involved in the dirty side of the game and he can often be seen clipping at the heels of opponents and generally being a pain to play against. He has an excellent disciplinary record despite this, something of an oxymoron. Finished 3rd in the Top League Golden Boot race with 16 goals in 30 games last season.

ST: Zlatan Andrijasevic, 21, Atletik Thessia [MYT].
2 caps, 1 goal
A towering (195cm) centre forward who can more or less do everything. He's good in the air, has excellent composure and finishing and his movement can make him a menace for defenders. He's not too shabby with the ball at his feet, with some centre-halves being surprised how quickly he can move the ball when dribbling. He scored 13 in 26 last season and he looks like he could be real talent. He's not shy of moments of ingenuity either, as demonstrated by his first time volley from all of 40 yards out which lobbed the goalkeeper in a Top League game against Arka a couple of seasons ago.

ST/TQ: Dejan Zgela, 21, CDSA [MYT].
3 caps, 2 goals
Zgela is almost the new Ocokoljic, except he's a more squat, stocky version. He likes to drop deep in order to receive the ball and then turn and dribble at pace at defenders and he's excellent at linking-up play between midfield and attack as a result. Useful tactically due to his education at CDSA, renowned as one of the best academies when it comes to that side of the game. Zgela is versatile and able to play as an old-fashioned striker, a false nine, a trequartista or in several other roles and that's why he's a favourite of Lev Repin.

ST: Anton-Dusan Straka, 25, Liria Prizren [MYT].
3 caps, 1 goal
Straka is a striker who operates amazingly well either in the penalty area - an old-fashioned fox in the box - or on the last man as he tries to break the offside trap. He will be caught offside regularly (one opposition coach described him as being "born offside"), but his speed and determination to keep trying make him a danger to play a high defensive line against. He wasn't always a composed finisher, but he has done a lot of work on it in the past few seasons and his composure and accuracy are now up there with the best Mytanija has. Has finished second in the Golden Boot award two years running with Liria, managing 37 goals in 60 games in that time.

ST: Alen Zekic, 31, Liria Prizren [MYT].
22 caps, 2 goals
Zekic is a tall centre forward who is coming towards the latter years of his career but he remains useful alongside a more mobile, pacy colleague (e.g. Straka at Liria Prizren). His goalscoring record domestically is a whole lot better than at national level, but he can be a useful weapon due to his size and physical presence and his ability to hold the ball up and bring others into play.

ST: Anton Derajevic, 28, Nyva Zvornik [MYT].
3 caps, 0 goals
Somewhat of an enigma, a while back Derajevic was held up as the bright young hope of Mytanar football, but his attitude and work ethic let him down, as well as his penchant for partying off the field. He came through the academy at 1923 Esca despite being a boyhood BVK Dinamo fan and he's caused problems wherever he's gone, but it seems like he's finally prepared to put the work in now after a few seasons in the less glitzy confines of Zvornik. Very good in possession and an accurate finisher, he's extremely lazy but his moments of magic make that worthwhile on occasion. Repin's recalled him to the national team, but don't be surprised if the pair have a bust up at some point along the line.

Team Roles.

Captaincy: Despite no longer being a definite starter, if he's on the pitch Azanovic will be captain no questions asked. After him the order goes something like: Todorov, Isaev, Anac, Kasun, Brkljacic, Odonelec, Ocokoljic, Vukovic, Hrdaljko. I realise this is a long list but it's a huge national pool so hopefully one of those will be on the pitch!
Penalties: Options include but are not limited to: Odonelec, Ocokoljic, Fejzuli, Todorov, Brkljacic. If none of those are on the pitch then go with a striker or someone like Hrdaljko, Nikolov, Kupresak etc.
Corners: Essentially anyone I've noted as a good passer or crosser of the ball: Fejzuli, Kalinic, Odonelec (who'll take them grudgingly due his being a reasonable aerial threat), Vukovic etc.
Short free kicks: Ocokoljic or Fejzuli, basically. Ocokoljic is more likely to take them from the left as he's right-footed and Fejzuli more likely from the right as he's left-footed. Odonelec would be next choice and Branko Brkljacic would offer a different method of taking it which mainly involves just hitting the ball as hard as he possibly can. If none of those are on the pitch, the likes of Kalinic, Kupresak and Pogaenik are all options. Failing that pick someone at random.
Long free kicks: Usually whoever's playing at left-back or right-back will take our long free kicks and try and punt it into the box and take advantage of having quite a tall team.

Things worth noting:
• Lev Repin (aged 47), has taken over the national team job from Robin Hjik after Hjik chose to move on to manage Euran club Bastion. Repin is a Mytanar footballing legend (as is Hjik!), and played for the national side 177 times, scoring 14 goals from full back, winning Copa Rushmori XVII and Cup of Harmony 56 and 59 along the way. He managed the under-21 squad at the Di Bradini Cup and took them to a runners-up finish. Repin is known as a bit of a schemer tactically and whilst he'll use the standard 4-3-1-2 formation a lot of the time, he's experimented with 4-2-3-1, 4-4-1-1 and even a 4-6-0 during the pre-qualifying friendlies. He'll throw some curveballs in there during WCQs too, so don't be surprised to see something unusual. He's also going to set the team up with a more attacking approach than Robin Hjik did, Hjik was more of a pragmatist who was reliant on keeping clean sheets and trying to nick a goal whereas Repin will try to keep possession and attack.

• Mytanija has qualified to 11 World Cups, reaching the quarter finals in World Cup 68. Mytanija has won the Copa Rushmori once (XVII), to go with two victories in the Cup of Harmony (56 and 59); and a Di Bradini Cup win (DBC40). Some of these achievements were made under the names Mytannion/the Mytanar Region, Mytanija is ICly the exact same place.

• Mytanars are renowned for being passionate and therefore will not be afraid of confrontation if they feel they're on the end of a particularly rough tackle. At the same time Mytanars are not afraid of gamesmanship and may perform some questionable tackles of their own, along with tactical fouls to prevent the opponent from gaining momentum. Furthermore, diving, crowding referees and even intentional handballs (OOC: so Maradona's Hand of God and Suarez for Uruguay versus Ghana, that sort of stuff), to influence the game are not beyond Mytanar players. They will argue that winning is the most important thing and will do anything they can to achieve victory. Some might call it dirty, Mytanars don't, that won't stop them complaining when things go against them naturally.

• Mytanar fans are well-known for being hooligans, causing problems wherever they go and being prone to violence. They also make outstanding choreographies for their domestic sides and occasionally the national team (if they aren't fighting each other), so pyrotechnics, flags and lots of noise and alcohol are common place. Corteos (organised marches from a specific place to the stadium), are also common, these can lead to areas being shutdown as the sheer numbers of fans walking along roads block traffic and can lead to issues as police attempt to marshal supporters too. Given the ongoing political situation in Mytanija, whether ultra groups are able to put aside differences regarding politics, ethnicity etc for the national side is a pertinent question and the answer to it may change even from game to game.

• The Mytanar travel guide (Part 1 and Part 2), is a useful - although non-exhaustive - source of information for fans travelling in Mytanija and includes a background on Mytanar history along with information about host cities and stadiums.

OOC: The national pool here is very large because ICly World Cup qualifying takes place over two years for us. Therefore players will come in and out of the squad dependent on who's in-form, injured etc. I will endeavour to name a starting line-up before each match where possible and would appreciate opponents following this, however, if I have not indicated who I would like to start please feel free to name a starting line-up (either sticking to the strongest one, indicated in orange in the player list, or choosing one of your own, though I would appreciate sticking to the formations I've said we use).

Legend had it that a team of plucky Sunrisians conquered the world twice, impressing bystanders and shutting down nay-sayers. This isn't a tale of equal standing, but rather, the story of how the distant grandchildren of those men and women came in town, decked in the closest to a set of royal colours possible with the wish to do them better.

HOME STADIUM
Tentai National Stadium
Capacity: 67,150 - Tentai City, Tentai - Tenants: Tentai Astros

Recently built under rule by the Hinodejin Imperial Court, this state of the art venue was built to host games of top tier team Tentai Astros, but more important than that, to host the national team's games at the new capital of the Empire. It's also supposed to represent part of the renovation process spearheaded by the current queen towards this city, once the capital of one of the fiercest enemies of the empire, now acting as one of the jewels of her crown.

RP PERMISSIONS
As you might've noticed, this team isn't entirely human. Just wanted to point out they're still fairly close to being human, just in case and a brief search will give you a good idea of what they look like, plus you can ask me about them if you want. Please don't kill the players. Injuries for large stretches of time have to be informed by telegram, or else they'll get the ignore cannon treatment. Anything else (bar anything that destroys any city of the empire or its' people, just in case anyone gets a bit too creative) is fine by me.

In the capital city of Zagreb stands tall the Marković Stadion. The recently refurbished stadium has four clearly defined seating areas. The east and west stands each have 10,300 seats, while the north stand, otherwise known as "das Bataillon", holds roughly 5,600 and is dedicated towards the home supporter's club "Wir Marschieren". The south stand holds another 4,000 people, bringing the total stadium capacity to roughly 30,200.

TEAM CASSADAIGUA- World Cup 82

Coach-Stephanie Sweeney (54)- 5th World Cup
By getting Cassadiagua to qualify for World Cup 81, Stephanie was able to silence most of her doubters that were not impressed with the effort in World Cup 80. Therefore, she is off the hot seat at the present time, but any signs of struggling may get the doubters to resurface.

Starters in Green
Subs in Blue
Reserves in Red

Goalkeepers:
#20- Kristen Speller (33)- Starter in WC78-81, CR 30 & 31
#31- Kelsey Morgan (27)- Sub WC 81, Reserve WC 80 & CR 30-31, Starter in DBC 41 & 42, Sub CR 29
#21- Robert Nunez (23)- Starter BPC 1 & 2, Reserve DBC 42 & WC 81

NOTE: Effective MD14, Kelsey Morgan is the starting keeper, and Speller the sub.

There are no changes to any of our keepers, even with Kristen Speller’s age starting to creep up there a little bit. She is adored in Cassadaigua, and since her play has not dropped off, she still gets the edge of Kelsey Morgan. Kelsey has gotten opportunities at times in qualifying matches, and more then likely that will continue again.

Defenders:
#2- Jessica Curran (32)- Starter in WC78-81, CR 30 & 31
#4- Hannah Shanley (28)- Starter & Captain in DBC41, Starter WC 80 & 81, CR 29, Sub WC 79
#22- Lupe Enriquez (25)- Starter in WC 81, DBC 41, CR 29-31, Starter & Captain DBC 42, Sub WC 79 & 80
#6- Ashley Crocker (27)- Starter in Di Bradini 41 & CR 29, Sub WC 80 & 81, Reserve CR 31

#29- Matthew Donegal (23)- Reserve WC 81, Starter DBC 43, BPC
#3- Brooke Sorrentino (24)- Reserve WC 81, Starter in DBC 42, CR 30-31

#24- Taylor Young (27)- Substitute in DBC 41, CR 29 & 31, Reserve in WC 80
#28- Brooke Sutter (21)- Starter & Captain DBC 44, Starter SWC 6, DBC 43, Reserve CR 31

For the most part, this unit is kept in tact, but the starter missing, Chelsea Blake (no relation to Taylor), was a key component of this team in prior years. Unfortunately, age has started to get the best of her. Jessica Curran is still the rock of the unit, and Lupe Enriquez is still the physical and dirty (when ref not looking) player that she has always been. Hannah Shanley only started for about half the campaign last time, but the Fillies were better when she did start, so that should be a good thing. Crocker has been a team fixture, but now gets a chance to shine as a starter. Beyond the starters, you will not find a ton of experience at this level, as that has mainly come in the Copa Rushmori.

Midfield:
#19- Rachel Brenner (30)- Substitute in WC78, Starter WC 79-81, CR 30
#23- Sierra Mattison (27)- Starter WC 80-81, CR 30; Starter Di Bradini 41 & CR 29
#8- Shelby Martin (27)- Starter WC 80-81, CR 30; Starter Di Bradini 41 & CR 29
#9- Zack Pierce (23)- Starter WC 81, BPC, DBC 42, Reserve WC 80

#27- Breanne Rothers (27)- Starter Di Bradini 41, CR 29 & 30, Sub WC 80-81
#25- Emma McKee (25)- Reserve WC 79 & 80, Starter DBC 41, CR 29, Sub WC 81, CR 30

#32- Taylor Southwick (28)- Reserve WC 81, CR 29 & 30
#34- Lauren Hayden (29)- Reserve WC 81, CR 30

This isn’t the position for new players to enter the lineup right now. With everyone essentially in the prime of their career right now, it should not come as a surprise to see the entire unit return. This will provide great stability for the team, and it might actually be like this for a while if they continue to play as we feel they are able.

Forwards:
#33- Hannah Ranucci (29) - Starter in WC78-81, CR 29 (** Team Captain **)
#12- Caitlyn Mayer (26)- Starter in WC 81, DBC 41, 42; CR 29 & 30, Reserve WC 79-80

#16- Chelsea Monroe (27)- Sub WC 81, Starter in CR 30; DBC 41 & 42, Reserve WC 79 & 80, Sub CR 29
#71- Rachel Schanke (19) (Granddaughter of Jessica, who #17 is retired for. Hence the #71)- Starter DBC 44, SWC 6, Sub DBC 43, Reserve WC 81, CR 30

#26- Eddie Malone (24)- Sub WC 81, Starter BPC
#37- Sarah Huff (32)- Substitute in WC78-80 & CR 29, Reserve WC 81, CR 30

Hannah Ranucci is the leading scorer of this team and has been for a while. She even played domestic soccer in Ceni for a while to show her stuff. She is an all around player with an uncanny knack to find herself in the right place in the right time. While not the tallest player on the team, she will not back down from physical play. Caitlyn Mayer is the secondary threat here, but has a very accurate shot. The team will look to get Chelsea Monroe into games often, too. Rachel Schanke, the granddaugther of the great Jessica Schanke, will be in a substitute role for the first time. She was given some playing time as a 17-year old in World Cup 81, but was mostly around to soak in the experience. Monroe will still be the first choice sub, but Schanke will be looked to a little more during this cycle.
