Banned? Definitely not, especially since you'd be criminalising African-Americans who use the term with the intention of reclaiming its meaning and effect, which even if you disagree with that activist strategy seems hugely counter-productive and reactionary.

I do think its a stupid word, although the social and emotional harm I imagine of using the word will be less in countries where the N-word doesn't have the history of being associated with the institution of slavery. I think its a genuine open debate whether the n word is socially harmful when used comically or jocularly in non-Western countries without a history of enslavement of black people (such as Asian countries) and not used in reference to an actual black person in such countries. But definitely in countries where the N word has a racist history its certainly not socially appropriate to say it (though I still don't think it should be banned or criminalised for sure).
