Message

To Prime Minister Harold Mursk of the Republic of Rinpek

As a responsible non-aligned neutral power, the People's Republic of Zhouran has been monitoring the situation happening in your nation. We are concerned about a potential outbreak of violence in your nation and as a result we kindly ask that you open peaceful dialogue with opposition socialist party so as to avoid escalating towards chaos. The PRZ will not interfere with the internal affairs of your nation as we do not hold any interests in the Republic of Rinpek, however at the same time we also strongly oppose foreign interference and any nation that attempt to undermine your nation's sovereignty and openly support violent insurrection should be actively ignored and opposed at all times. If needed, the PRZ is happy to provide military aid should a potential violent insurrection erupt within your homeland.

Do not listen to the saber-rattling of any nations regardless of their political orientation, the only way a nation can effectively function cohesively despite political divide is through peaceful dialogue and cooperation. If the socialist opposition does win your nation's coming elections, then it is best to listen to the demands of your own people and accept the results.

It is better for your countrymen to cooperate cohesively than to fight each other and bring your nation into a bloody civil war.

Regards, Hadarong Shaokang, Minister of External Affairs

Message

To Peter Movek General Secretary of the Rinpek Socialist Party

While the People's Republic of Zhouran remains neutral to the situation happening in the Republic of Rinpek, it is no secret that elements of the Zhouranese masses, mostly those from the political-hardline minority as well as some from the political-moderate majority, openly support your party and are in full solidarity with the opposition movement in your nation.

I am confident that as long as other nations do not interfere with your nation's internal affairs your party could potentially win in the upcoming election in Rinpek. If your party does not get elected into power, I would advise that the Socialist Party of Rinpek should at least establish some sort of a coalition with the democratic-centrists so as to maintain political cohesion in Rinpek and prevent your nation from falling into a violent civil war.

Regards, Senior Marshal Kang Yingyong, President of the State Presidium

Solidarity With Rinpek's Opposition Movement

Hundreds of thousands of political-hardliners along with some
political-moderates stage a massive solidarity rally in Anjing in support
of Rinpek's Socialist Party as Rinpek holds a parliamentary snap election

In Anjing's central-square, an estimate of around 800,000+ people, mostly political-hardliners along with some political-moderates, attend a massive torch-burning rally as a show of solidarity to the Socialist Party of Rinpek. In the Republic of Rinpek, Prime Minister Harold Mursk and his Democratic Centrist Party have been losing popular support from the people of Rinpek due to a vote rigging scandal as well as discontent from workers. The parliamentary snap election currently being held in Rinpek was meant to happen later in the year but Harold Mursk decided to start the election early instead. While the stratocratic government reaffirms its neutrality to Rinpek's situation, at the same time the country has made it clear that it is better for Rinpek to remain stable and cohesive rather than fall into a bloody and violent civil conflict. During a press conference in Ouyang, a spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs told reporters than Zhouran will not interfere in Rinpek's parliamentary election and that the country will continue to cooperate with Rinpek regardless of who ever is in power.

Back in Anjing, the tightly-packed central-square of the city has hundreds of thousands of political-hardliners and political-moderates show their support for Rinpek's socialist opposition. While they oppose the Rinpek Socialist Party's policies of legalizing prostitution to be regulated and switching Rinpek's criminal justice system from retributive to rehabilitative, at the same time they strongly support the Socialist Party of Rinpek as a means to "reform Rinpek and free the workers from the shackles of tyranny and oppression". The massive rally started off with attendees lighting their fire torches followed by the mass singing of the Zhouranese patriotic songs Hymn of the National Workers and Land of Our Wealth; the thundering voices of the masses resonating across the central-square, shaking the ground and serving as a reminder to the struggles and sacrifices our ancestors made in building a powerful and prosperous civilization whose history spans several millennia long.

For many nations, massive political rallies with torch-burning and patriotic zeal might not be common, but in Zhouran they're just as common as usual protests. In fact, political rallies in Zhouran, whether it's held by political-moderates or political-hardliners, will most likely devolve into bloody protests as the two opposing sides fight on the streets before gendarmes from the Public Security Corps have to use force to forcibly end any violence. For this pro-solidarity political rally in Anjing, the PSC already has gendarmes on high alert in case violence might erupt. Other than that, everything is at least peaceful, not to mention that another political rally in Anjing, attended by mostly political-moderates as well as some political-hardliners, is currently being held a few hundred meters away as a counter to the solidarity rally in the central-square.

TO: Senior Marshal Kang Yingyong, President of the State Presidium
FROM: Peter Movek General Secretary of the Rinpek Socialist Party

Thank you for your support and solidarity with our party. We are quite confident that we will win the election 60 days from now however that is still two months away and the polls could change in an instant. However we have high moral and confident thanks in part by solidarity expressed by people abroad.

There is still a possibility that the Democratic Centrist party may try to rig the election, or a worst case scenario is the military staging a coup if they don't like the results, however these are slim possibilities now that the press and the people are scrutinizing government actions more closely.
Should we win the election we would love to open diplomatic relations immediately.

Central Rinpek
Parliament Square

Parliament Square was once again thronged with Socialist Party supporters in the first major political rally of the election. Peter Movek had arrived early to help set up the microphone which was set up at the northern end of the square in front of the Government Complex. Thousands had turned up though the turnout was not as big as the demonstrations that took place last month.

Peter stepped up to the microphone and started speaking "Greetings comrades, glad to see another great turn out. The government has bowed to the pressure of people power and have set the date for the election at April 29th!" with this the crowd began to cheer and applaud before settling down and allowing Peter to continue "It is our duty to topple the corrupt regime of Prime Minister Harold Mursk, and to vote in the election to ensure that outcome!"

"Down with Mursk! Down with Mursk!" chanted a small section of those gathered. Peter smiled and once again waited for the crowd to quieten before continuing

"People power is able to achieve great things and the Socialist Party hopes to harness the power of the people to change Rinpek for the better! Prime Minister Harold Mursk has the support of the top 7% of the richest citizens in the city, but has neglected the 55% of the population that the state considers 'low wealth', well its time to show him and his administration that money is not god! If elected we will preserve vital state industries and sectors from the disastrous policies of privatization, we will also ensure free education and expand it to allow a citywide reading campaign to ensure 100% literacy. Traffic in the city is also in a bit of a state so we will increase funding for transport alternatives to the private car and initiate a commuter shuttle program and incentivize carpooling" the crowd began to clap at this before Peter continued on to other programs he was hoping to implement should he be elected.

Meanwhile in the government complex

Prime Minister Mursk looked out the window of his office to see the mob on Parliament Square before turning to his desk and sitting down in the black leather chair. He picked up his phone and began dialing a number, the phone rang for a few short moments before it was picked up on the other end.

'Hello your speaking with General Jim Harra'

"General Harra, its the Prime Minister here'

'What can I do for you?'

"I'd like to have your input on the election, come to my office there are things I wish to discuss"

'Of course, right away Prime Minister'

Prime Minister Mursk hung up his phone and reached over to a news paper which was showing the Democratic Centrist party was lagging far behind in the polls, the news was not good.

Central Rinpek
Government Complex

General Jim Harra made his way through the large corridors of the government complex before entering a small waiting room outside the prime ministers office. The Prime Ministers Secretary looked up from her desk "Please make your way inside, the Prime Minister is expecting you"

The general opened the double wooden doors into the office where Prime Minister Harold Mursk was sitting at his desk

"Ah general Harra, please take a seat" said the Prime Minister gesturing at one of the chairs on the other side of the desk

"Is everything alright Prime Minister?"

"You may have already seen the headlines, the Democratic Centrist party is lagging in the polls, there is the real possibility we will be voted out of government"

"Won't you guys just rig the result? Isn't that what you people usually do?"

Prime Minister Mursk let out a slight laugh "It won't work this time, especially since someone in the government leaked proof of the last elections irregularities, we are under heavier scrutiny then ever before"

General Jim Harra leaned back in the chair, staring at the Prime Minister "So where do I come into this?"

"I wanted to discuss the possability of the army staging an intervention should the Socialists win"

"You mean staging a coup?"

The Prime Minister stood up and walked over to the window, looking down on Parliament Square "If the Socialists win the election, I shudder to think what will become of our great city"

"I'm neutral in all of this, a coup would incite rebellion from the Socialists and their supporters and the loyalty of the army is not guaranteed if they were ordered to suppress a valid election result with force"

The Prime Minister turned back to the General "It must be left open as an option in any case"

"I'm not sure about that, I can not get the army involved in overruling legitimate election results"

Harold sighed "So you would let the Socialists claim victory?"

The General shrugged "If they won fairly in a free election, then sure"

"But surely you must understand that if they win the city would be destroyed through their policies"

"We have no way of knowing that, Peter Movek seems like a capable man"

"He is still a socialist"

"It is not the job of the army to suppress election results if they don't go your way"

"Fine, thank you for your time General" The Prime Minister turned back to the window as the General stood, leaving the office

From the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs

[Marked Private for Recipient, Delivered by Diplomatic Courier]
To Mark Bursted Foreign Minister for the Republic of Rinpek

To my dear governmental counterpart,

I am writing to you for several reasons. The first is to reassure you that following conversations with colleagues and senior officials, there will be no interruption in trade between our countries. I am forwarding to you the prospects for the upcoming grain, oil, natural gas and vegetable product futures as well as current market trends that should please your market investors. Of course there is, naturally, volatility in some of these markets, but nevertheless we shall no doubt be working hand in glove to make sure that your country is not left high and dry. Nevertheless, I can personally assure you that short of some unexpected major war, there is no concern in the recent civil disturbances and terrorist attacks in Fineberg, which are being dealt with by appropriate officials in a very effective manner and have in no way disrupted our industry.

On a second matter, however, we are concerned with another volatile matter: your upcoming elections. One of my own officials identified the concern that if the socialists win your election, it could badly affect our trade agreement. Naturally we would never want to interfere with another nation’s internal processes of government succession, but I am wonder if my government should be concerned, and whether we should approach members of your opposition in order to make sure that this most beneficial treaty will be upheld regardless of who wins the elections.

Finally, there had been talk of a state visit, and I would like to know what concerns, what preferences your government had. Was it a visit to our country, or a visit from some of our people to yours? What level of state visit would your government prefer? If you would like a visit from our head of state or government, please let us know and we can begin making arrangements.

I have the honour to be,
Hosidius Geta,

TO: Foreign Affairs Minister Hosidius Geta
FROM: Foreign Minister Mark Bursted

We are most pleased to hear that the situation in New Edom is under control and that our trade agreement can go ahead uninterrupted. This deal is most important for fulfilling the needs of our small republic for the year 2019. As for the situation of the elections, we believe that in the unlikely event the Socialist's win power, they are pragmatic enough not to suddenly cancel the agreement and if they do you will have good cause to sue them. We are also confident that they will want to maintain the trade agreement as any sudden cancellation would lead to extreme shortages of vital foodstuffs until they negotiate with new trade partners, it would be a disaster should they suddenly drop the trade deal without letting it expire naturally this time next year. In saying that, you are free to have a meeting with the opposition, perhaps during our arranged state visit.

On the subject of our state visit, perhaps if you would like to send a representative to visit us here in Rinpek. Should you visit us here you will have a meeting with both the Prime Minister Harold Mursk and President John Serak and will also have the opportunity to meet with the leader of the opposition Peter Movek. The downside to a visit to Rinpek could be some LGBT rights activists attempting to protest the visit, alternatively we could send President John Serak to New Edom. The choice is up to you based on your preference.

Kind Regards

We will graciously accept by King Elijah IV and Queen Mara I on a state visit to the Republic of Rinpek. We can provide accommodation at the Rinpek International Hotel in the presidential suites. Once your plan arrives at the Rinpek International Airport we can escort you in a motorcade down the avenue a short distance to the International Hotel which is across the road from at the northern end of the airport.

There you can settle into your suites before being escorted to the Government Complex for talks with the Prime Minister and President of Rinpek to formalize a binding trade agreement for a 12 months period which will give the government of New Edom the right to sue any successive government that ends the trade agreement before the end of the 12 month period, we can also discuss embassy exchanges too and any other agreements that we see fit
