Lancer EVOs have those diffuser fins along the roof above the rear window, Subarus have the big box wing you see here.

And I'm back to trying to puzzle out car choices.

On the one hand the C3 has a bigger conventional bootspace than the 208. On the other once you drop the back seats you get more capacity in the 208.

And annoyingly all the used examples of both are old enough to only have MirrorLink rather than Android Auto. So can't hook my phone in.

Are you likely to need the space? And if so, while carrying more than one passenger? If the answer to q1 is no, then it is a difference without a distinction. If q1 is yes, then if q2 is yes, you may want the C3; if no then the 208 makes more sense.

Which I am sure will fail like always. Peugeot has poor brand recognition, its products entirely unsuited to the market, and the market is already pretty saturated.
Why would someone buy a Peugeot if the other, better offerings out there?
What unfilled niche does it seek to fill?

Here in Europe, it's basically Kiyundai-tier stuff, but with better recognition (which won't be there in the US).

Peugeot has poor recognition, but Citroen and DS don't suffer from that issue. And I can see both those brands fill the niche left behind by Saab, Saturn, or even Suzuki. Personally I think the US is pretty lousy for small nice cars right now, and I welcome a few new players to the US market... especially if it causes Fiat to actually step up, for finally cease in the US.

All that being said, Peugeot did buy Opel recently, who has sold rebadged cars in the US under the Buick label. In fact more tha a few of GM's FWD cars have been based on Opel developed cars in years past. Problem isn't making a car for the USDM, but rather being able to sell it. I wonder how they plan on solving their non-existent dealer network in the US right now. That kinda stuff may fly with premium brands, but I don't see it working out for a mass market car.

I'm excited, bring some quirky little hatches from Peugeot and also some smooth comfortable cars from Citroën/DS, It's only few years, by 2026, but I think by then I might be in the car market. 208 GTi? Yes please.

And the U.S. market will meet them with general dissatisfaction because America doesn't really care about French automakers, except maybe Fiat largely because of Chrysler.

It's funny to read such fetishizing of these cars. They're ordinary cars through and through, with some unusual styling choices.

It's context. The only time I found a 57 Chevy Bel Air impressive as in Switzerland, but over in the states, they're common classic cars. It's like that, where as something like Peugeot is a generic, regular car in many European countries. But in America, it becomes a weird niche, it's different than the usually fare of the Toyota Camry, pickup trucks, and small SUVs. Relative taste.

Subcompact car, compact car, midsize car, subcompact crossover, 2 compact crossovers, some vans. Pretty standard fare.

What makes them any better than the numerous other offerings out there?
Besides given they lack North American manufacturing facilities, dealers, and economies of scale in the US, they are going to have a hard time competing.
Plus try getting parts. Repairs will cost you.

High cost and expensive repairs are not critical for luxury cars and high performance cars.
But Peugeot can not compete with the likes of Porsche obviously.
Peugeot does not have the name and products needed.

Mini and Tesla are doing fine despite fewer if any dealers in some states. Peugeot will have an uphill battle, but Fiat also started out with essentially zero.

It's almost like foreign manufacturers have successfully introduced themselves to the US market repeatedly and wouldn't be unheard of for one to do it again.

Wild concept, I know. Gonna forward a new idea. Peugeot's Frenchness will be the brand's biggest challenge to success in the US. People will try to use the excuse of no dealer network to cover up their inability to get over the idea that French people make cars.
