The Port of Halangkaya refers to the collective facilities and terminals that conduct maritime trade and which handles Soracana Islands harbors and shipping. It is designated as the only port of entry to Soracana Islands where all foreign ships enter the country and international trade take place. The port was already established in early 13th century as a trade center for Aksamara and connection point between Gida Island and Pakel and Nehu Island. When Aksamara break after Civil War, the port was taken by its new ruler, Ranjugan. The port get major development when the nation is under British rule.
Today, the port has become the main trading hub for Soracana Islands and a major economy boost for Ranjugan. It is a critical point for importing goods, refinery center and also passenger transport between Soracana's islands.

Before 1898
In mid 12th Century, Aksamara emerge as the first kingdom that rule the main island of Soracana Islands. Its main area is the hill side in the south of the island. As the kingdom progress, it conquered the northern land and finally reach a non-hilly beach. This beaches area was converted into fishing village which give a new variety for the kingdom staples food. Encounter with other nation, the Pakel Island, is what was initiate the establishment of a port in the northwest part of the island. The once small fishing village was then transformed into port village. Trade was relatively common with Aksamara send most staples food including taro, sea salt, vegetables and fruits to Pakel Island. While they received palm sugar, coconut oil and seafood from Pakel Island.
Trade with Nehu Island was begin in mid 14th Century. But the amount of trading was lower than Pakel Island as Nehu has more limited goods for trade. Aksamara was become a major contribution for Nehu import products. The trading route become disrupted when Aksamara Civil War broke out. The economy of the region falls apart as Aksamara is the main resources for their products. The civil war resulted in a divided nation and Port of Halangkaya was given to the new kingdom, Ranjugan. Aksamara itself then establish its own port the northeast at Pasahilenjer. The trade was flourish again although not as before because Aksamara somehow cut their trade with Ranjugan and only trade from their new port in Pasahilenjer. There was a competition between Halangkaya and Pasahilenjer to become the largest port in Soracana. But because Halangkaya is nearer then Pasahilenjer, most of Pakelian and Nehunian merchant chose Halangkaya over Pasahilenjer.
A new regulation and open trade was established among the states in Soracana after the creation of Soracana Alliance and eventually the Kingdom of Soracana Islands. This immediately boost the nation's economy. In mid 19th Century, Kingdom of Soracana Islands sign a treaty that made them a protectorate of British Empire. Under the British influence, Port of Halangkaya was given major development that will suit the port for a larger and wider trading route.

As a protectorate of British Empire, Soracana Islands become engaged in a wider international trade and Port of Halangkaya is prepared for that. With the establishment of the new freight terminal, the port is ready to cater more trade goods while the old terminal was renovated and being focused for passenger used.
Port of Halangkaya then link to numerous ports around the world. Most of them were part of British Empire colonial government. The port has become a stopping point for ships that travel from Europe, Africa, Middle East and India in the route to Australia. But as a larger ships was being made, the port show a declined in trade acceptance. The British authority then asked for the creation of Naval Base in the are which was denied by the Soracana Islands government. The navel base was eventually being built but on another site. Port of Halangkaya was continue to solely relied on its trade and ship registration.
Following World War II, Port of Halangkaya was heavily damaged. A restoration and renovation efforts was made right after the war with the financial help from United States. The port was reopened in 1951 and its ready to cater the nation trade business.
After 1980
Soracana Islands cease to become protectorate of United Kingdom in 1980. Although, trade with the UK and other former UK colonies and neighboring nations continue to flourish. Port of Halangkaya is given another major renovation in 1990's when gas pipeline was being constructed to connect the port with the rest of the nation. Passenger seen a rise after the independence notably workers that commute from Pakel to Ranjugan. Cruise ship also increasing.
There has been an idea to expand the freight terminal to cater more container and freight trade although the government still see that the expansion is not an urgent but it is still a future forecast. In 2000, Halangkaya-Ayui Port Authority was established by merging Halangkaya Port Authority and Ayui Port Authority. This Port Authority will supervise the operation of both Port of Halangkaya and Port of Ayui, the two largest and busiest port in Soracana Islands.

Passenger Terminal
Port of Halangkaya Passenger Terminal is located in Pasahilura District, Halangkaya, on the previous location of Halangkaya Old Harbor. It is near the mouth of Kaya River. The Passenger Terminal is divided into 3 parts, RORO Dock, Cruise Dock and Marina Dock.
RORO (Roll On/Roll Off) Dock is the main and largest part of the Passenger Terminal. It is the drive of Soracanian domestic ferry which links Port of Halangkaya with other ports throughout the nation. The RORO Dock is completed with 6 piers, Passenger Terminal Office and parking area. Except for transfer passenger, this dock is also used for food truck and other goods truck shipment from Gida Island to Pakel and Nehu Island.
Cruise Dock is located in the northern part of the terminal. It is a new addition to the terminal which developed to boost tourism in the nation. The dock is completed with 4 piers, Cruise Office, parking area and shopping or rest area.
Marina Dock is located to the south of RORO Dock. It is the newest addition to the terminal and an expansion to the RORO Dock. Marina Dock was previously ruled under one management with RORO Dock before being separated in 2006. The Marina Dock is completed with marina piers, Marina Office and Marina Waterfront where many cafe, restaurant and retail shop are located.
Freight Terminal
Port of Halangkaya Freight Terminal is located in Pasahinaja District, Halangkaya, near the border with Pasahi Municipal. This terminal is a new addition to the port which being establish in early 20th century to take over the overburden held by the Old Harbor. The Freight Terminal was being enlarge after Soracana Islands independence with addition of outer pier and a longer liquid dock for petroleum and natural gas shipment. The Freight Terminal is divided into Container/Cargo Dock and Liquid Dock.
Container/Cargo Dock is the first establishment in the terminal. Previously both cargo and petroleum shipment is using this dock before being separated in 1933. The Container/Cargo Dock is completed with Inner Pier, Outer Pier, Freight Terminal Office, parking area and train station.
Liquid Dock is located to the north of Container/Cargo Dock. This dock was established in 1933 to split the cargo/container shipment with petroleum and natural gas shipment. Aside from the liquid pier, this dock is completed with refinery center and power plant. The refinery center is a vital part of the dock. In which it will directly process crude oil into different products. It also connected with Pasahinaja Power Plant which is a vital power outlet that give electricity to Ranjugan, Pakel Island and Kayamasa.
Owner and Operator
From the beginning of its establishment, Port of Halangkaya has been owned by the local government, both Halangkaya Municipal Government and Ranjugan Provincial Government (at the time). Following the break up of Aksamara, the portion which Ranjugan Provincial Government held was given to Ranjugan State Government. After World War I, a consortium was established to oversee all the port in Ranjugan. Ranjugan Port Agency was created as a government agency that control the port.
In 1978, Ranjugan Port Agency was transformed into government company named Ranjugan Port Corporation while for its operator a new company was created which known as Halangkaya Port Authority. Ranjugan Government welcomed the municipal government to owned fraction of share in the newly established company. Halangkaya Port Authority also came with similar scheme. In 1996, Halangkaya Port Authority decided to go public and together with several other companies established Halangkaya Stock Exchange. Only 25% of its share was traded during their first IPO.
To broaden its power and authority, Halangkaya Port Authority decided to merge with Ayui Port Authority. This merging was seen as a major moved for both company. As Ayui Port Authority was under large debt at the time following their high maintenance with just little revenue. With the approval from Halangkaya and Ranjugan government, as the largest share owner, Halangkaya Port Authority then decided to take over Ayui Port Authority. This merging was finalize in mid-2000 which establish Halangkaya-Ayui Port Authority, a new company that responsible for operational of both Halangkaya and Ayui Port. Halangkaya-Ayui Port Authority (HAPA) is still a government owned company even though it has been traded at Halangkaya Stock Exchange.
