Basically just making a top list of albums for artists with over 5 albums I would say, and make lists of them. I'm not entirely sure if I'll list everything they've done, or just the top 5, but I may just go full on with everything that's best by them.
Edit: I'm also going to put more work into "Top such and such for this year" lists.

I'll take the pop/EDM dance music of the early 2010s over most of the trap rap that has dominated the scene. At least those songs had a pulse and were enjoyably catchy and fun. The fact that a pop star like Ariana is trying to tread on the ground of brag rap and trap, is embarrassing. And yet, most Ariana stands, who normally enjoy your average pop girls will still like this because "OMG ARIANA SLAY QUEEN!!!!111"

Exactly, and regarding the bold, thank you for taking the words out of my mouth (that's what my post would have gone on to say if I hadn't been distracted). Ariana Grande was never the awesome artist the 13-year-old girls made her out to be from the get-go, although seeing this is just embarrassing like you said (I heard what I'm thinking was "Thank U Next" today, not out of my own volition of course, and my one thought was 'this is stupid').

I don't listen to that stuff but what I have heard is pretty is pretty unlistenable to me. If you want fun, catchy pop that's pretty new, try The Aces. Their song "Volcanic Love" always gets me pumped and "Stuck" is also not bad. "Last One" is a song that's growing on me, it's a nice song that is limited by overproduction. I feel like the biggest problem of a lot of popular music today is being saturated with crappy overproduction.

Dresderstan wrote:So I just listened to Ariana Grande's new album thank u, next, and oh boy it was just like what I was expecting just from the singles alone. Less pop and R&B and more heavily reliant on trap beats and snares, and lyrics about bragging about how much money she's got, her sex appeal and even stealing a girl's man for herself. The songs end up being really bitchy and catty, and it makes me hate Ariana rather than like her. The best songs are imagine, which is probably the closest that even remotely sounds like a decent Sweetner song, ghotsin' for actually being a good downtempo and romantically sweet song, bloodline being by far the most upbeat and not being totally trap percussion and beat, especially with a good horn line.
The rest of this album ends up being nothing more than album filler, Sweetner cuts, or just downright awful, the two worst being 7 rings, and especially the catty break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored. And then you have the title track. It's not as trap reliant like some of the other songs, but my God is Ariana just a bitch on this. Yes, it's her being grateful to her exes, but her delivery on this and the chorus with her saying thank u, next and the repetition of it is just so fucking awful, it makes her seem catty and bitchy, it does not make me sympathize with her. The fact this is her biggest hit and broke many records when it was released baffles me, because it's not a good song, it's only saved from being the worst because of decent production and her voice is passable. But the rest of this album is somehow just the title track done worse in multiple forms. And yet, this album is gonna sell huge on it's first week, because it's Ariana Grande, so many people love her music, and her die hard fans will eat up anything, even when it's bad.
4/10
Best: imagine, bloodline, ghostin'
Worst: 7 rings, break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored, in my head, make up

Also, Dua Lipa is quite good. Her songs include pop and EDM, making her debut album a successful one. Ariana Grande and Dua Lipa have collaborated, but it won’t come out because of their ‘busy schedules’, which include Ari’s crappy music.

Good to see he didn't go further into New Model's direction. Now I'm actually looking forward to the new album.

Personally, I was disillusioned with pop music for the last couple years because of musical styles like Ariana Grande. However, J-Pop inspired bands like Kero Kero Bonito and electronic/indie inspired artists like EDEN have really drew me back to it. While I listen to a lot of rap, I despise pop-rap like Drake and Nicki Minaj. Horrible. Ariana is definitely trying to take inspiration from pop-rap.

"No Tears Left to Cry" "old"?
From Wikipedia:
"Released: April 20, 2018"
Still sounds very much current to me.
Then again, anything released after 2000 to me is "new", and I have mentioned Matchbox Twenty and Third Eye Blind as among the "newer artists I like".

Cardi B seems equally trash.
