"I don't know why you are asking that favor of me, Check. I am the second in command. Our squad leader was the one who gave you the threat. Besides, we are more along the line of knights and bishops than kings and rooks." Connor Jax said to "Check" as he double checked Orion's targeting system. "Don't mind our leader's attitude. He is just venting his frustration with the mercenary known as Six." "Pigsy" said to "Check". "I don't know why people call chess a strategy game. There is no creativity, no change, just two guys moving identical pieces in the same fashion as their opponent until one of the two kings are trapped." "Tenochtitlan" said to "Check". "Yet the officer academy on Mjolnir has it as a required course. General Tengu, the man in charge of the Hojo Offensive, was one of the graduates." "Vegas said to the rest of the squad before they received the warning that the Megladon was about to jump to warp, the squad shutting down their comms.

Six

Smoke grenades dropped from his mechs, the immediately puffed up into smoke clouds making it impossible to see fujin inside. The machete wielding mech tried to clear the smoke but to no avail he was soon stabbed in the back by a giant blade. Six had warped behind him and found the spot with the weakest armor point.

Eva-05

She sat there in warp thinking to herself “What’s wrong with commander six, did he think rashly again?” She then pondered a lot of things, she was disconnected from all electronics to prevent a power shut down in the void. If that happened the first place to go is the hanger bay. If that happens she might end up being alone again. Watching as her friends died unable to assist.

Connor Jax sat in his seat, double checking his flight suit's oxygen count. This act of diligence was not uncommon among the mech pilots who had participated in the Hojo Offensive. In the event that H-Deck lost life support, a flight suit could provide the wearer with an emergency supply of breathable air that would only last thirty minutes, which would theoretically give engineering enough time to get life support up and running again. Unlike "Vegas", Connor Jax wasn't willing to gamble his life on theory. A systems wide power outage, even one limited to a single deck, can take anyone from an hour to a week to fix depending on the systems affected and the cause of the power outage, especially if the repairs couldn't be done without dropping out of warp. "I don't know what's worse about the Long Haul: all the things that could go wrong on the journey between solar systems or waiting until we get the signal to prepare for The Drop. If our battlegroup is going to be engaging the Corpsmen on the ground, then it is safe to assume that Battlegroup Alpha will be engaging the RCMC fleet and Battle Group Beta will be neutralizing the orbital defenses." Connor Jax thought.

They soon exited warp right over the planet, everything on the ship coming back online. As targeting solutions were made from the ships main computer soon giving them the all clear. It was time to shine, they were landing on a desert planet were they must be careful of over heating the reactors of their mechs. Eva mech was loaded with additional cores and ammo. They were going to take the base while another group is going to distract the forces. There was only one base here and the rest were just lightly guarded arms factories. “Hope you guys are ready” said Eva as she prepared for impact

"I have just received our orders. We are going to eliminate the base defenses, which are weakest from the north, and secure the surrounding area so that a detachment of marines can capture the facility and hack into the database. It is fortunate that Check has an artillery mech, as the RCMC will mobilize all available forces to retake it. However, should we face heavier resistance than anticipated, I will not hesitate to call in the nearest heavy strike group for support. We will have to move through Grave Canyon, as it is the only way south that is not infested with Burrower Mines. Don't let the name scare you. There is nothing in that canyon but empty tombs and a few automated missile turrets." "Vegas" said to the rest of his squad after their drop pods had landed, having managed to avoid being hit by anti-aircraft fire. Explosions filled the sky as anti-aircraft fire roared like a dragon, the squad momentarily looking up before heading towards the base.

She nodded sending up one of five drones to map the are, but it hung low so AA can’t hit it small body “scanning the zone, please hold as I find targeting solutions” the canons on her shoulder started to rise “stand back for magnetic interference” the cannons started to charge as two shots got loaded in and the barrel extended “bracing, firing solutions found, taking out AA” her legs locked up and she readied for the recoil “please cover ears” the cannons fired at the same time. They were so loud it sounded as if thunder went of right next to them and within seconds to large explosions would go of signaling the AA cannons were destroyed “hit, zone secure for drop off”

"Aye-aye Sir." Julia nodded simply, tilting her head in affirmation before the video feed cut out and she felt Nightswan's comm suite linking her back into the main communications network. The background noise of hushed, curt chatter washed over her as she gave the suit two rapid bursts of manoeuvring thrusters to match it with the Duty's Fist and then nudge her back towards the vessel's open hangar bay. Glancing back into the swirling void behind her, she felt the artificial gravity tugging at her body with a slow, insistent pull before feet hit the ground with a loud clang. The other mechs were lit up green in her R-HUD and she quickly activated her magnetic clamps and locked Nightswan down.

"This is Nightswan, locked." She said into the comm, a small grunt of assent returning from Nia. She bit her lip, then forced her face into a grimmace. She wasn't supposed to do that for a drop. She didn't want to bite her tongue off, after all.

He smirked as watched the nightswan “a beautiful scene indeed” he the set his mech up along a wall as it magnetically locked in. “Come along Julia, I can’t wait to dance” he smirked waiting for the girl to lock in to the spot next to him. The orbital drop, a new tech that’s been added to most transportation vessels, it shot mechs down from above allowing for fast insertion before the enemy knew they were being attacked. They encased the mech in a steal pod before firing to protect the mechs from the damage of the fall, while also providing protection from AA. One of RCMC best systems on a ship.

The ships made their way to the drop off point, but slowly in order to prevent orbital sensors to see them as a threat.

The steel-alloy egg clamped into place around Nightswan and Julia felt more than noticed the way her external sensor arrays went offline. There were a handful of external sensor pods, but they had to be armoured and their resolution was poor at any real distance. They were a poor substitute, and she felt a slow, rising tide of anxiety creeping up inside her gut and chest. It was going to be fine. It was going to be fine. Her fingers ran continually over the thin band of cool metal around her wrist, muttering constantly to herself.

G-forces slammed into her like a brick wall and for a moment of sheer, utter terror she felt her diaphragm contracting and trying to force up her latest ration bar. She managed to gasp out a handful of breaths as the pressure continued to mount against her, pressing her up against the back of the cockpit with her shoulder-blades grinding painfully into the hard metal. She could feel something in her back attempting to give, bones slowly sliding out of position as the external cameras turned yellow and then red and then blacked out completely.

A moment later the pressure was gone and the egg peeled away from Nightswan, one plate at a time vanishing away and burning up before the last four bolts detonated and Julia could see again. The ground beneath her was spread out like a map, the simple, gentle curves of green and white and blue undulating softly towards the horizon on either side. Spreading across it like a stain was a vast outreach of dull, drab gunmetal sending questing tentacles forth across the landmass almost as far as Julia could see.

A small smile lit up her face. She couldn't tell if it was forced or not.

"Nightswan to Octavia, locking onto you and following you down."

"acknowledged, just relieving myself of my lunch" comms cut off as the man's suit that landed next to her opened up and he crawled out to vomit. it took him a second before he was done. he then crawled back into Octavia and reopened comms with Nightswan. "I'm good now, I'm amazed you do this every insertion" he wiped his mouth "ok we will move the moment we hear the alarms from the base" dead mechs would be lying nearby, all a lot larger than theirs "that's their problem, sending in heavy types for interceptor work" he laughed a bit as alarms blared not too far away and the sound of rail cannons went off "well time to go" he started walking to the spot

Dave Walker
-The Old Glory's bridge

Dave looked out at the starfield through the bridge's viewport. The stars were beautiful, like Christmas lights in the dark. They were flying through interstellar space, following reports of pirate attacks out near Altair. The SOL were going to investigate these reports. If they proved true, they would attempt to shut down the pirates.
Dave said,"Helm, what's our ETA?"
The helmsman, a wiry middle-aged man, named John Wilkins, said,"Our ETA is approximately two days, sir."
Dave nodded, and replied,"Thank you." Sometimes Dave wished space travel was a little faster, but two days would give them time to prepare.

Léon de Nevaur, 'Nemean'
Oranda Prime

"All sistems operational. Bloodhound online." Said the soft robotic voice inside the cockpit. The mech roared to life and slowly exited the hangar, where the rest of Sigma squad awaited.
"Very well everyone, we've been assigned patrol duty, which is not ideal, but miles better than sitting on our asses all day. However, there's going to be a slight variation to the normal route. Command says that the sensors just picked up two energy readings a couple of miles away from the base, so we'll head there first. Check your systems one last time and report in."
"Wyvern ready for action." Said Damien, the second in command from atop his interceptor.
"Hydra ready." Gerard was a gruff veteran and the oldest amongst them, piloting a destroyer.
"Gorgon ready boss" Anne was the youngest of them all, more than compensating her inexperience with eagerness and outstanding marksmanship with her sniper mech.
"Good, let's get moving then. We should be able to..."
The alarm of the base blared through the loudspeakers.
"All personal to their battle stations, all pilots report to the hangar. We are under attack, this is not a drill. I repeat, this is NOT a drill.
The base exploded into activity, as the rail cannons started firing at their assailants.
"Looks like we are finally getting some action. Sigma squad, check your ammo and prepare for combat. Let's show those RCMC fuckers what The Guard is made of."

The squad marched into the Grave Canyon, the locals following them, staying concealed via the use of active camouflage cloaks looted from the corpses of RCMC snipers. "I feel like I am being watched." "Tenochtitlan" said to the rest of the squad. "We are being watched. Intelligence reports indicate that this planet was colonized two hundred years before earth was destroyed. They also indicate that while the locals have no love for the Corpsmen, they are not our friends. Shoot to kill if they prove to be hostile." Connor Jax replied as they continued heading towards the base, the locals following them.

Pirate captain Michelle

Captain Michelle, a smart man and very deceiving. He has been paid by the RCMC to run a raiding operations and today will be another normal day for him. If he ever ran into trouble he just pull out his mech suit that he stole from a pilot who is now dead.

Nikola

He smirked the forward assault of about 12 well trained mechs should keep them under wraps “come along Julia we can be late to the ball!”

Eva-05

“Well these cloaks don’t exactly hide our thumping feet, so you could feel the watchful eye of the worms below us” she said in confidence “or maybe your paranoid that six will find your secret coms” she laughed lightly “cause he has already, he just simply don’t care or I should say it, that’s I’m unsure of” she scratched her head “from stories I heard, the six is a nice person but harsh, maybe he has a lot on his mind”

Jets flared, screamed, and a second wave of g-forces crashed down against her back, throwing her against her restraints. The ground continued to grow in her vision, and resolution increased and she was staring down a bristling row of cannon and missile tubes and then the canopy was flashing past her eyes and the screams of her jets reached a fever pitch and then Nightswan hit the ground in a thunderous explosion of dirt and earth. For a moment she blacked out, then a second explosion next to her heralded the arrival of Nikola and Octavia.

Nikola's commline shut off for a moment, and the dull, distant thuds of hypervelocity rounds began to resound throughout the jungle. A wave of bird-analogues erupted, startled, before vanishing into the sky. Julia's eyes idled over the diagnostic read-outs - her right-elbow thruster had nearly overheated, but any damage was minimal. She hoped, anyway. She would have to nurse that side a little as it was, and if it blew out she was going to find counter-clockwise manoeuvring far harder than she would have liked.

Nikola's voice returned into her ear and she warmed her motors a little, before setting off. This low beneath the EMDAR, she wasn't going to need to hide her profile, but she still used her jets sparingly to prevent heat buildup. She wanted to have plenty of manoeuvring time when they were closer in, and if they did have IR sensors spread throughout here she wanted to minimise her heat profile. That was the plan anyway - with any luck they wouldn't be too far out from their target.

"Six brushes off the death of pilots and the destruction of their mechs as minor scrapes and threatens the squads placed under his direct command with beheadings. Of all the things he can be called, nice is not one of them." "Vegas" said to "Check" as they continued to advance, "Check" eliminating every missile turret they came across. "Mechs don't have active camouflage devices. Overheats the reactor. The cloaks you would have detected are either RCMC snipers or some locals who managed to get their hands on RCMC snipers. Either way, they won't be able to do much damage to us before we fill them with lead." "Pigsy" said to "Check" as they continued advancing, the locals continuing to follow them. "We will soon be in range of the RCMC base. Intelligence indicates that the corpsmen installed a shield generator when they took over. Pigsy will hack the shield generator and initiate a temporary shutdown. Once that is complete, we will be able to neutralize the rest of the base defenses with ease. However, he will be vulnerable during the hack, so we will destroy any tank or mech that the base may deploy against us." "Vegas" said to the rest of the squad.

Julia cocked her head as the new path was marked onto her R-HUD, before shifting to match it. Nightswan's feet hit the ground, sending shocks through the suit before she was in the air once more. The entrance to the tunnel was ahead and she cut off her jets for a moment, sailing near-silently on her aerofoil surfaces for a moment before she slammed once into the ground and skidded to a halt. The gaping space ahead of her was empty, her sensors probing into the darkness beyond as she pulled up her rifle.

"Hacking now. This should take half an hour at most." "Pigsy" said to the rest of the squad, the other five mechs taking up defensive positions. Within five minutes, tanks came rolling into the canyon as mechs flew through the sky, their approach heralded by a grim cacophony of crushed rocks, whirring engines, and roaring thrusters. The moment they got in range, every member of the squad who was not involved in the hack opened fire, "Check" and "Vegas" shooting down the mechs that were still airborne while "Tenochtitlan" and "Piranha" engaged the enemy's ground forces. "Hello, Connor. Still stuck on the ground, I see." The pilot of a gold and black mech covered in red pentagrams said to "Piranha". "Ah, El Diablo. We meet again. The last time I saw you, Perdition was being towed to Fūjin by a garbage scow." "Piranha" said to the other pilot, "El Diablo" leaping into the air and dodging machine gun fire before swinging his plasma katana, slicing off one of Riptide's shins, the mech still operational enough to not be taken out of the fight by the blow. Orion collided with Perdition, managing to slice into the reactor's cooling system with the wrist mounted cutting laser before being kicked off. Riptide grabbed Perdition and tossed it into the air, the mech crashing into a nearby mountain before exploding. "The enemy shield generator is offline." "Pigsy said to the rest of his squad, the enemy assault having failed.

“Good” she tried to walk then fell to the side “error, gyroscope is reacting oddly” hydraulic oil pulling everywhere “I must get up, my team is counting on me” she told herself as she tried to stand but only fell on her face “error, replacement needed” she started crawling to a nearby mech “donar detected” as she crawled the leg joint broke off

Nikola

“Yes it is” there would be a huge steal grate preventing movement forward “this is here for whenever it rains, so that the water doesn’t pull the base away, and normally rains hard” he pulled out the cutting torch “watch my behind while I cut us a path” he turned on the torch and got to work. Mechs can be heard in the distance being blown to bits as their reactors blew up. The mobile wall is doing its job but Julia and Nikola will need to hurry before they punch through

The Base Is Secured

Postby Flarbinia » Fri Feb 15, 2019 12:27 pm

"Check down. Attempting battlefield repairs." "Pigsy" said to the rest of the squad as he found a mech with compatible parts, Wuhan cutting off the knee and shin, placing the parts in the right location, and connecting the wires. "Pigsy" activated the flamethrower and set it to extra low, Wuhan beginning to weld the leg together. While every mech squad had a technician, repairing a mech on the battlefield was a last resort, a desperate move to be made when an Alliance Fleet is unable to send a repair team. Once the repairs were complete and the diagnostic had confirmed that the mech was ready for combat, Riptide got up and opened fire, the volley taking out the anti-mech defenses. The rest of the squad continued the assault until the base defenses, save for the shield generator, was destroyed. Several transports landed, the marines storming the base as the shield generator came back online. After half an hour of intense and brutal fighting, the gunshots ceased and a flare was fired from the roof, the marines who were not assigned to protect the Code Cutter, heading to defensive positions. "The base is secure. The Corpsmen have seen the flare and are most likely sending everything they can spare, infantry, tanks, mechs, what have you, to recapture it. I have received our orders. We are to defend this base until the hack is complete." "Vegas" said to the rest of the squad.

"An improper weld would have made it impossible for Riptide to move that leg." "Pigsy" said to "Check" as Riptide sluggishly moved into position, the shield protecting them both from an incoming artillery barrage. "What the Hell? The intelligence reports that all heavy artillery would be focused on the diversionary forces! The shield will not last long against firepower of that magnitude!, considering that the generator is a First Generation Aegis." "Vegas" said to the rest of the squad, Riptide firing a retaliatory bombardment, wiping out an entire artillery regiment before two more artillery barrages began. "They may have kept some heavy artillery in reserve, but judging by the number of bombardments, they only had enough to equip three artillery regiments. If we destroy the two remaining regiments, the shield should be able to hold out longer." "Pigsy" said to "Vegas" as Riptide fired another retaliatory bombardment, though it only took out the second artillery regiment's heavy artillery.

The magnetic interference messing with pigsy mech. “Please hold, this my be our only shot” she unleashed her payload “guns need rearming”

He had captured the base and the RCMC forces retreated to prevent loss of gear and resources. Six was now on a ship heading to meet up with the team taking over the weapon facility. He was getting his mech ready for an orbital drop, he wants to make sure the job is done.

Reinforcements Arrive/The Assault Intensifies

Postby Flarbinia » Sun Feb 17, 2019 12:06 pm

"All heavy artillery destroyed. Artillery regiment reduced to platoon level strength. Request for resupply relayed to the Megladon." "Pigsy" said to "check" as his mech's onboard computer calculated the most likely number of casualties. The shield opened as three dozen drop pods crashed, a supply ship and a few hundred transports landing on the airstrip three hours later. "Sorry we are late. Admiral Godwin told our transports to stay in the hangar until an opening was created, so we sent our remaining mechs first." Lieutenant Lu Shen, one of the tank commanders that had fought in the Hojo Offensive, said to "Vegas" as the mechs and tanks got into position, the crew of the supply ship loading ammunition into Riptide. "It is good that you came when you did. The Corpsmen are moving in for the kill." "Vegas" said to Lu Shen as RCMC tanks rolled towards the base, flanked on both sides by infantry and mechs, the remaining artillery firing barrage after barrage, the smaller and lighter rounds proving ineffective against the shield. Once Riptide had been rearmed and the crew was back onboard the supply ship, they headed back to the Megladon, the shield closing behind the ship.
