No fantasy universe is beholden to the tropes of others. I think this world works better without actual gods.

I don't, personally. If you go so far as to have dragons I think it's only fair to have gods involved too.

But why? What’s the thematic message then? Gods imply a world beyond our own, a creation by a higher power which is knowable by humanity, and more importantly, a black-and-white absolute morality. Dragons can just be beasts with enormous power. Gods do not follow logically from dragons.

Well, nobody. That's why I have them  Seriously though, I like it better without Gods. It puts more focus on us.

Btw Norv, i'm going to have an an emissary show up to your city soon. Maybe next post, but probably the one after. He/she will most likely come by sea, so i'll be messaging you to get a feel for what to expect from your port/docks, who/where an emissary would seek out to meet with your city officials. If that's all alright

Not really I mean I personally think that is much cooler to have dragons be some natural force rather than just a creation of a god. But anyways I'm guessing the dragon attack news has not spread to the north yet so I don't think I will address in my next post.

Sure, I'll TG you some details.

Decided to create a map before I work on my post! Would anyone mind if I edit my profile to move the galena deposits onto Syros itself? This island's bigger than I thought.

Maybe they can exist just not be very powerful? Like they can only influence the world to a certain degree and in certain ways?

To clarify, in my opinion they don't exist in the world. I kinda wanted to leave the matter of their existence as inherently vague. Maybe they do, maybe they don't. But that does mean that likely they won't be giving any massive boons to other cities.

I don't think they exist, but that's my theory as a player of the RP, not my decree as OP.

Nice. Never expected Thal himself to strike down an entire enemy army or anything, lol. But at least they totally might exist.

So, Jade, how do you plan on reacting to Imperial's offer?

Im kinda split, on one hand hes not asking for much but on the other, it will be boring if we all teamed up with no opposition. The dragon attacks will spread from the south so we'll be among the last to get hit. It will be good if we have something to occupy ourselves in the meantime and a war sounds dandy.

True. Honestly, Thalmos could go either way too.

I don't know about y'all, but I'm planning on the Syprians absolutely dismissing dragons and the idea that any attack happened on Sidonian cities, that is until a dragon attacks Sypria and the state is caught off guard. What a fUN post that will be to write, the sorrows of the people.

Either of those would be fine, as long as the culture of said city state is Greek-ish.
