What I've learned from youtube recently is that I don't have a right to claim I think I will like the movie I have not seen yet..... but tons of other people can claim the movie will suck and their opinion matters who haven't seen it yet either.

Yeah, a lot of them do, and with Disney in general as well.... even though the Marvel Studios portion of Disney has been delivering good product for some times and not letting up. And this appears no different to me. I'm as stoked to go see this as I have been for other Marvel movies in the last decade.

Star Wars Girl seems to be projecting hate around Disney.... with how poorly they have been handling Star Wars I can see how she would be irked (but that is a different topic).... but their poor handling of Star Wars has no translation to how they have been handling Marvel. And frankly I think her hate is misplaced. Feige has been doing an awesome job of managing the Marvel Studios branding and direction.

Alot of this seems to from some people's poor understanding of the corporate structure. They hate the direction that Kathleen Kennedy has gone and attribute that to Disney in general and all its properties.... the proble of course is that while Feige and Kennedy both answer to Disney, neither answers to th other, each is in charge of their own subsidiary. Kennedy's direction has no impact of Marvel Studios, only on Lucas Film... so projecting Kennedy's direction of Feige is absolutely uncalled for or unsupportable.

He should have either been a full humanoid genie and just have will smith do the physical acting as well as voice work. Or just do the genie as full CGI and had him voice it, but without his likeness.

LGBT people in superhero comics is not brand new, it’s been around for many years.

DC has Poison Ivy, Catwoman and Harley Quinn for example...no men that I can remember of, though.

As for Marvel, my knowledge on their superhero roster is very much limited, so Iunno.

I do love seeing Bad Film Critique YouTube unironically using the term SJW. It just reinforces the notion that they don't know jack shit about what they're talking about.

The Captain Marvel hate feels like misogynists winding up to give this big haymaker when the film comes out. It seems like a weird thing to do, to pretty much admit that you've already decided to hate a movie, because then no one is going to believe that you're being dispassionate when you do review it negatively.

But it maybe makes a certain sort of sense (well, not sense, but y'know, "sense"), if you're worried the film might be good. Because if you've already firmly established that it's bad, you can frame all positive reception as a product of insincere SJW Disney shills or whatever. And you can kind of...claim to have predicted it, because you were saying it was bad all along, which obviously makes you more honest.

Still, I think they'd do better to keep quiet, because the trailers make it look like a run-of-the-mill MCU film*. Which would put it below the recent run of MCU films, which have been consistently above average. If they only waited, they could fairly dismiss it as a drop in quality without having to show their true colours.

*Although I thought the same about BP's trailers, so who knows.

...Why is Asami on a list for superheroes? I mean, I'll accept Korra since she is sort of like a superhero if you squint, but there's no way that Asami qualifies.
