The Cold War was a war that lasted from 1949 until the dawn of the new millenium, the crisis spanned multiple generations, decades, and conflicts that would culminate in the end of an era and the collapse of an ideology. However this time around things are a little different, unlike in our timeline where the world was shaped by men long dead, the new world order will be shaped by us. It is your time to take control of your country and lead your people. Ladies and Gentlemen, I welcome you to The Cold War RP.

Population: From my quick research, there wasn't a census after the 1937 one until 1959. In '56, the USSR announced that there were 200,200,000, although the west believed there were between 215 and 220 million before so....

History: Beginning in 1917 with the Russian Revolution, the communist Bolsheviks obtained power and took Russia out of WW1. They had a brutal civil war, and after Lenin's death, Stalin removed the opposition and effectively became dictator. There was the Great Purge in 1938, resulting in the loss of great officers and generals. World War Two erupted in 1939, and the Soviets signed the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, they invaded Poland a few weeks after Germany, but they were betrayed in 1941 in Operation Barbarossa when Germany invaded the Soviet Union and pushed to the gates of Moscow. With the Russian winter and over exertion on the German soldiers, the Red Army was able to fight a ferocious war against Germany for about 3 years, until the Allies finally landed in France after D-day and the operations in Italy. The West and the Soviets crushed what remained of the Nazis, with the fall of Berlin in May and Japan surrendering in September, ending the war. Tensions rose immediately after the war with the splits between East and West, leaving the USSR and USA as the world's only superpowers. The US had a monopoly on nuclear weapons until 1949, when the Soviets detonated their own. Despite tensions and the Iron Curtain, the USSR joined the United Nations and was a founding member.

Below the Emirate is the Tributary or Local Government, these are run by Sheikhs which are people of royal blood, they have a local court system and a Local Tribunal as it's legislative body. There is no Islamic branch at this level, instead the grand imam controls the local regions either directly or via a delegate known as a Chief Imam.

Their is one special administrative region in Israel in which instead of an Islamic branch the Jewish Government holds power, and the position of Emir is not selected by the King but instead an election is held with the candidates being selected by the government. In most of the country only Islam is allowed to be practiced in public, with other religions only allowed to be practiced in houses of worship or homes, however in Israel both Judaism and Islam are allowed to be practiced. The city of Jerusalem is a Special Administrative City, and instead of an Islamic or Jewish government, the government is a tribunal of Christians, Jews, and Muslims, the city is also the only place where religious freedom is permitted. So in summary the provincial level government is known as an Emirate, how ever their are two Special areas known as the Special Administrative Region of Israel where Judaism and Islam are present and the Special Administrative City of Jerusalem where all Abrahamic Religions are present.

The Economy is predominately dominated by Finance, Manufacturing, and Oil. Due to the countries proximity to the markets of europe and its cheap labor costs, it is the predominant manufacturing hub of the west and over 20% of the workforce is in manufacturing, another 2% work in finance, another 7% in Oil, and the rest work in either agriculture, tourism, mining, or transportation. With wages on the rise many in the country believe modernization is going to be on the table in the near future, and with hundreds of oil wells being discovered every month throughout the country many believe that oil will fund the countries growth.
History: In 1918 the first world war ended and the House of Saud, began its decade long conflict to unify the region. By 1929 the Arabia Peninsula was unified. In 1931 the government annexed Palestine, this claim would remain disputed until 1941. However in the mean time, the house of saud strategically married into many families in Syria and Iraq and slowly wrestled influence in these areas from the UK and France. In 1940 the first world war was raging on, and the Germans in need of Oil, began to open relations with the Arabians. However, the British and French knew this would be a problem, in 1941 the Riyadh agreement was signed which meant Arabia would be neutral in the second world war and in return the British and French would allow the Arabian annexation of British Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Kuwait. Following the conclusion of the war, the Europeans honored their agreement and gave the territories to Arabia. It was in this year that the country switched from an Absolute Monarchy to an Islamic oriented Republic. In 1946 the country agreed to give autonomy to the special regions of Israel and Jerusalem, as well as agreed to a trade agreement with many European countries.
