Jessamyn "Heartbreaker" Easton-Roux

“Fresh air? Yeah, you could say I needed it. Had to clear my head after seeing someone that makes my blood boil for the first time in awhile. Someone that doesn’t deserve to be here on any merit, that only benefits because of their last name. Well, I guess you don’t know that. I’m talking about my sister, Mari,” said Jess, leaning against the wall of the building as she was approached by someone who asked her if she was also getting some air. She had been in a little bit of a visible bad mood because even walking outside to try to take her mind off of things, she couldn’t get Mari out of her head.

It practically consumed her, at this point. She had been able to handle her hatred when she hadn’t been in the same country as the one that she hated, but now that they were in close proximity and in the same village, probably not that far apart from each other in terms of rooming, she couldn’t stop thinking about it. It was something that caused her body to spark with excess energy every now and then because she was generating more from her emotions that she could hold. Not a lot of things did this to her. The topic of her sister was one of them.

“I know I’m a little obsessed,” she admitted, with a soft and bitter chuckle. “But everything she’s going to get is something she has coming for her.”

Sun Yi Jong, Incinerate

Folding his arms, Sun adjusted his Ray-Bans as he realized he had met an interesting individual. It's not every day you have someone this old who still has sibling problems, I would've expected such petty things to have been resolved when you're at least 10 He simply smiled as he continued to listen to what she had to say.

Soon enough, he raised an eyebrow as he watched her confess her feelings about her sister, this Mari. Damn, something bad must've happened in the past. Well, at least I hope that's the case or else I'm just dealing with a girl with issues he thought. Still, Sun was not at all perturbed by Jess's behavior, he had met many and befriended many individuals in the past who had been so full of hate that it blinded them to reality. Family problems was a common issue amongst such people. He knew this because he too had been one of them, blinded by raw hate. Though he still felt his past self within him, Sun believed himself to be strong enough to control his base emotions. If he couldn't do even that then what was the point of all those apologies he had issued to those he had adversely affected in his life?

Standing close to the girl, Sun mused for a bit before voicing his observations aloud, "Well, I ain't the type to nose around into other's business so I merely wish you luck in dealing with Mari. That being said, here's what I think about 'hate'."

He held up a finger and emitted a tiny yet visible spark from it, "I used to be a violent person, even if my victim was innocent I didn't care. But ever since I suppressed my emotions deep within myself, I've become so much stronger," he retracted his finger back into a fist, "It seems like you're the opposite, however. Not that that's necessarily bad but hate is a doube-edged sword. It'll consume your thoughts, consume your actions, consume your desires until when you finally open your eyes, the world you once lived in is not the world you see before you."

Releasing his arms to stretch them, Sun let loose a yawn, the smooth skin on his face lengthening for a second as he did so.

Charlie Burkhall - Shifty | Section C Residence

Again, Charlie was amazed. The key he was handed led to a rather large apartment. It had a bedroom, living room, bathroom, and a small kitchen. He didn't have to share or worry about foster parents kicking him out either. The robotic sounding woman that spoke over the speaker gave him plenty information, and yet... Charlie was still a bit sceptical. As soon as he packed away all his gear, he began searching the room for hidden devices. After 5 minutes passed of sifting through his plain home, Charlie had found nothing. Perhaps there really were such things present, but they were simply hidden too well? It's not like he had anything to hide, he was just a bit paranoid. Switching his train of thought, the first thing he wanted to do was explore, so he put on his black hoodie and shifted into a female version of himself. Complete with longer hair and above average feminine charm. There was no reason behind it, to Charlie it was the equivalent of twiddling his thumbs or washing his face.

Chuckling to himself, Charlie spoke out loud, "Well, if you guys really are listening in, prepare to be bored as shit," quickly realising how stupid he must look, Charlie strode over to the entrance door with reddening cheeks, stuffing his hands into the hoodie's pockets and leaving to go find the others.

Charlie was well aware that many of the Young Guardian members probably had complicated backstories, noting that he shouldn't take on a form that could offend anyone. There was a time Charlie recreated Hitler, suit n' all, and pretended to be a wax statue in a popular museum. Nobody found it funny when he jumped off the pedestal, especially the older folks. Shaking his head, Charlie smirked, "At least I got to keep the suit."

Jacob Philander - Smog | Section C Residence

Jacob wasn't one for crowds, or people in general really. Once the first few questions were answered he immediately left for the buses, eventually ending up at his room. The weather here was much better than Antarctica, that's for sure. Not to mention the much larger amount of people. Jacob simply dropped his briefcase on his bed, seeing as he never had time to buy possessions. The closest store was halfway across the world for fucks sake. He'd never had money for himself either, again, because there was nowhere to find work. To him, the Young Guardians program was everything he'd ever wanted and more. He gets $500 every fortnight, training for his abilities, free housing, free food, guidance, and he could legally help people as a hero.

"I'm forever grateful to these people, so the least I could do is try my best," he whispered, rubbing the gem embedded in his chest, "I'll be able to learn more about the origins of this thing as well, so it's a win win really."

Sighing, Jacob left his room, recalling the robotic feminine voice that played over the sound system. Wondering to himself if this place had a good library.

Elek Mohave

After the initial introduction, Elek was given the key to his room and after some awkward moments he finally localized his room and walks into it, inspecting it reveals well nothing which wasn't perfect but it was better than the cardboard he was living on previously, he threw his backpack on the bed and started unpacking, it was very fast as he had only one pair of other clothes a 10 dollars and an old blanket, after he unpacked he finally took a proper shower, when was the last time he had a proper shower when he was 11 or 12, figuring he still had some aluminum in his hands he formed himself four knives, he then drew a target board and threw all four one by one into the board hitting with varying amount of success, Elek went to cafeteria since he had still plenty of time before the proper introduction into Young Guardians

Jessamyn "Heartbreaker" Easton-Roux

Jess just raised an eyebrow when the conversation went philosophical, and she chuckled to herself. “I’m not going to try to say that you’re wrong. It is possible for someone to be consumed by hate, yes. It’s also possible to be motivated by it. I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing, really. You might notice the sparks, those are because of emotion. It doesn’t matter what emotion it is, really. Hate, sadness, love, excitement, they all come across the same way with my power. But even outside of that power… I don’t think that embracing an emotion is a bad thing. There’s not much better fuel, I know I sure as hell wouldn’t have done what I did over the past years, finding success in Europe and all, if it wasn’t for being driven by that.”

She shrugged. “But hey, maybe you’re right. Maybe I’m just set to crash and burn because of my feelings. Doesn’t really bother me that much, in all honesty. I have some things I want to do, and I don’t care too much about the rest as long as I get those things done. You could say I have my priorities straight,” she added, speaking calmly even though her words were a bit unusual. There were few people motivated enough to chase something even at the expense of crashing and burning in everything else.

"Ha, well, good luck with that," Sun said. Despite his disagreement with the things she was telling him, he had long ago learned that everyone was different and different circumstances created situations that would never be identical to another person's. Similar they may be but identical? Never.

Glancing at down at her super-team jacket before looking back at her, Sun asked, "So, on another note, what are you looking to gain from the Young Guardians program? For me, the Young Guardians is an opportunity to improve my powers, to attain a state of mastery far beyond what I currently possess. Are you the same?"

Lora, Dichotomy
Young Guardians Program, Section C Residence, Angel Village
June 6th, 2024

After the incident with the woman falling, and then obviously trying to cover up the fact that she was not in fact alright, Lora made it to a bus. During the ride, she started to feel a slight burning sensation, a feeling that Lora was rather familiar with. It meant that her medications that kept her powers stable and in her control was starting to wear off. She still had sometime before the medication would wear off completely, so she decided to wait till she got into an apartment.

Once the bus arrived at the residence, Lora quickly made her way out and obtained the key to her apartment. As she entered the building, anyone who was perceptive enough would have noted that she had a slight glow to her. Once she made it to her apartment, she started unpacking, and took her medication. The slight glow of her skin faded, and returned to normal. Once her medication was taken, she had a quick shower before leaving the apartment.

"Time to make some friends..." Lora said to herself as she started to wander through the halls, "Friends are good afterall, right?"

Alasdair Francis Damon, Blackfire
Young Guardians Program, Section C Residence, Angel Village
June 6th, 2024

After the ride, Alasdair claimed the key to his new apartment, and made his way to it. With a small suitcase meant unpacking was rather quick. What was he going to do now? He had unpacked, and he had no reason at the moment to isolate himself. So, perhaps it was time to make introductions, and get to know his peers. And so, that is what he decided to do. Stepping out his apartment, he started making his way through the halls.

Not long after leaving his room he noticed another person wandering the halls, a rather plain person. Approaching Jacob, he made a hand motion as to let him know that he wanted to speak to him.

"Hello." Alasdair spoke, monotone as normal and offered his hand, "I see I am not the only one wandering around. My name is Alasdair Francis Damon, and I am only doing this because getting to know those you work with is vital to success."

Admina Kyrene, Amazon
Young Guardians Program, Section C Residence, Angel Village
June 6th, 2024

Once given her key, Admina took her very limited amount of possessions to her apartment, and wandered the room for a few minutes. She just couldn't truly believe that she was being given such a place. She was used to single, small, and dark rooms, were she'd sleep and be left when not training or fighting. Though, if she did have one issue with this apartment it was the doors, then again, she always had issues with doors due to her size.

"Standing around is nothing." Admina said to herself and left the apartment to see if there was some sort of training room in the building, and if not, just to go take a walk around outside the building, and enjoy her freedom.

Kana Kaleikaumaka, Gyges
Young Guardians Program, Section C Residence, Angel Village
June 6th, 2024

"Well, it seems you have been bested once again, my old rival, stairs." Kana said as she rolled past a staircase in the residence and to an elevator, smirking the whole time. After the ride in the elevator, she continued on to her new apartment, and upon entering it, she emptied her wheelchair bag of what she didn't need, but didn't put what she emptied away properly, instead leaving a pile of stuff on her bed. "I'll clean later."

With that she left her apartment, and was starting to roll away before hearing a door nearby open.

Klara Jönsson
Section C Apartments, Angel Village

Klara was a little bit shocked as she checked out her new apartment. There wasn't anything wrong with it at all, it had all of the furnishings that she would need, but the style was absurdly familiar. It looked as if it were all from Ykea, the Swedish big-box assemble-it-yourself furniture store. She put her hand to her mouth and chuckled, to stop from laughing out loud. They'd been told that all of the apartments had been similarly furnished, so it was a bit of a relief that they hadn't customized everything because she was a native Swede.

Getting over the mild shock, Klara unpacked and put the few clothes she'd brought with her into the dresser drawers and the armoire.

Now that she was unpacked, it was time to explore Angel Village!

Klara opened her door and entered the hallway. The sound must have been louder than she'd thought, because one of the other new arrivals, the girl in the wheelchair seemed to have stopped. Klara closed her door behind her.

Her first attempt at an introduction, that afternoon had been a failure, but Klara was sure that it wasn't her fault. Still, it made her hesitate. Also, the other girl was in a wheelchair and Klara was afraid that if she said something wrong, the girl might think that Klara was feeling superior and condescending, which would ruin things a second time that day.

Allowing a little bit of her native accent to creep into her voice, Klara ventured a greeting, saying to the tiny girl with the very light brown hair, "Hello, are you going exploring? May I come with you?"

Jack entered his room, pocketing the key he was given, and inspected it. It was fairly simple, just to his tastes. He'd have to find a place for his sound system, but yeah. This room would work just fine. Jack grew bored quite quickly, and went to explore the grounds. He had plenty of time before the introduction, right?

Jack had been wandering the halls, killing time until their introduction, when he bumped into another man, nearly knocking him over. He was stammering out an apology when he noticed a pair of guns on his hips. Colts, to be exact. He reached out a hand, and said, "Sorry about that. Wasn't paying attention. Name's Jack, and I couldn't help but notice those guns. Colts, I assume?"

Harold climbed out of the bus and let out a whistle when he saw the apartment they were staying in. It was very impressive; nothing like the apartments they had back home in Montana. As he unpacked his luggage and dragged it to his room, he thought to himself," Well, this is gonna be home for a few years. Might as well make the most of it." When he got to his room, he placed down his luggage and looked around the room, being briefly startled by the computerized voice giving him his schedule for the next. He then shrugged and thought to himself," Might as well explore this nice hacienda, who knows what i'll find." He then left his room and stood in the hallway, trying to determine where to go. Suddenly, a other person bumped into him, nearly knocking him mover. He then turned around and grabbed the man's hand while," It's Aright partner, accidents happen. The name's Rawhide. Also, you must yer guns, these baby's are colt revolvers." He then proceeded to rub the handle of one of the colts.

Jessamyn "Heartbreaker" Easton-Roux

“I don’t think I particularly need the Guardians really, I was already a hero with the Gamblers over in Monaco. They were always more fun of a team too, the kind that had more of a sense of humor and less corporate responsibilities. Less of a business, more of a bunch of us doing our jobs and doing crazy shit in between. But hey, the Gamblers are a regional level team and the Guardians are worldwide, if I want to get one over on my sister I’ve got to work for the best just like she is. So you could say that’s my goal,” said Jess.

“But hey, not like I don’t have an open mind to finding a new adventure. A lot happens in New York City, I might not like everyone that’s here, and by everyone I mainly mean Mari and Ainsley, but it’s not that bad to be back home. I’d say my skills are pretty decent, I’ll be happy if I can manage to get some thrills out of all this.”

Serge "Riot" Easton-Roux

Serge was looking for Mari to give her an earful now that he was both fresh out of Canadian prison and back in New York City, the hometown of the three siblings and the place where their families were most well known, but after not running into her, and not knowing which room she was in or where to find her, Serge started to wander the halls without a goal in mind. It would be useful to see who else was here and who he’d spend the next years with, but on his rounds around the place, he ran into what was probably the tallest woman that he had encountered.

Well, she wasn’t actually much different from him in age, but her size was a lot more imposing than most people around this age. More imposing than most people in general. One would think that she was one of the instructors or some senior hero that was within the facility for some reason, but she was someone else within the program, interestingly enough. “Damn, haven’t seen someone like you before. I’m guessing in your case, your size would be your power?” he asked, somewhat curious. If she happened to have another power on top of the size and athleticism, that would be… Well, a bit unfair.

The Village
Section C Residence
Zekulu Alemu Nazwari

He was finally here, finally here at the Young Guardians grounds. He could barely contain himself during the VTOL trip, where he gets to train and work with real heroes. This was truly a dream come true to him and the stepping stone to becoming a hero. Zekulu after getting off of the VTOL was quick to take in the sight and did not notice to how cold it was. He was not used to the cold and that took effect after two minutes. He was quiet during the time when questions were being asked. He had few questions and some were answered already. He was surprised to the girl that had fallen turned invisible. That is bound to be useful for her and for the guardians. He wondered what the other powers his fellow guardians. After the announcements, he got on the bus that departed to the apartments.

Zekulu once he got off the bus, he got his key and made way to his room. He held his hand close together and briefly summoned a small flame in between his hands. An attempt to warm himself which he succeeded in. He found his room and entered, he found the interior to be rather nice. Once as he found the bed, he started to unpack. Unpacking his crossbow last and took the time to make sure that it was in working condition. Tinkering with it and looking down the iron sights. It was in good shape and he gently put it away. He thought that since he is done unpacking his things, he figured he should meet with at least one of his future teammates. Leaving his room and entering the hall. Walking down it to find someone else that he could meet.

Jacob responded a little late, shaking Alasdair's hand before the moment could become any more awkward, "Oh, umm... hello. It's nice to meet you Alasdair. The name's Jacob Philander, or Smog if we're going by hero names," he said, pondering over Alasdair's reason for striking up a conversion. Jacob wasn't used to being spoken to out of the blue, so it came off as a bit of a surprise, "Is there anything else you wanna talk about then? I'm currently looking for the library. I was hoping they'd have some rare magical tomes at least."

Young Guardians Program, Section C Residence, Angel Village
June 6th, 2024

When you wander around lost long enough you are destined to run into someone. That's just basic probabilities. So it was no surprise when Admina would come into the sights of another person. She wasn't paying attention completely, mainly due to the fact that for once in her life, she didn't have a reason to watch her back. That said, when a stranger approached her, and spoke, she instantly turned to face them, and held her hands up as if she was ready for a fight. However, once it became obviously that the stranger meant no harm, she lowered her hands.

"My size is not my power." Admina spoke, and smiled "It only side effect. Sure, I stronger, faster, and tougher than others. But that not my true strength."

With that came a pause before Admina offered her hand, "Admina. That my name. English not my language... Even in my language, I don't speak so good. Who you?"

"Huh?" Kana said and looked at Klara, "The fuck you saying? Am I exploring? May you come with me? What are you actually trying to say? You don't think I can handle myself, isn't that right."

"Oh look, a weak, crippled girl in a wheelchair all alone." Kana continued, sounding as if she was trying to mimic the poor good hearted girl's voice, "Oh, she must be struggling in getting around. I mean, look at those arms, she must be struggling to even wheel herself around. She needs my help, after all I am a rather tall, attractive and physically healthy individual. Oh, but I shouldn't let her know that, so maybe I should ask her in such a way that it doesn't seem like that is what I am thinking."

"I don't need your pity." Kana smirked as she looked directly at Klara, "I may be a cripple, but I can still kick your ass..."

With that she started to wheel away, stopping a few feet ahead. It was then that she let out an audible sigh and looking behind her.

"By the way, the name is Kana." She said, "Kana Kaleikaumaka. I figured that you should know that... and yes, I was exploring... and if you just so happen to go the same direction as me, then..."

With that she shrugged, and looked away, "What can I do?"

"A library to find rare magical tomes..." Alasdair said and looked directly at Jacob, "I doubt you'll be able to find any tomes of great value to whatever you seek. People do not seek such tomes for some light reading. Seeing as you have an apparent interest in magic, perhaps you can tell me why you have an interest if one exists?"

Now, if Alasdair had allowed himself to show emotion, he would have likely smirked at this point. But instead he just looked away from Jacob and continued speaking, "After all, Mr. Philander, I have been trained in magic since I was a child. I am one of only two people in the world to harness the magic of the Seven Seals of Penodris, the other being my teacher."

Klara Jönsson

Klara was getting tired of these overly defensive girls. She felt like calling the wheelchair girl a bitch to her face, but she paused to consider that Kana had likely been looked at as a cripple and looked down upon for years, so Klara decided to forgive Kana's rudeness.

Still, Kana had turned her back to Klara and try as she might, Klata couldn't help keep just a little scorn out of her voice as she said to the wheelchair girl, "You could begin by not assuming that I pity you. It's assinine to think that a girl with no compensating power to make up for her bad legs would be joining the Young Guardian program."

Klara walked up next to Kana and continued, "I suppose my English isn't precise, but if you had taken my words at face value, instead of thinking you needed to counter attack me, mocking my accent, then maybe you might imagine I was only trying to be friendly!"

Klara realized that she was getting emotional, but she wasn't going to run away. However, she did need to cool down. Now she turned her back to Kana. And back to back with the wheelchair girl, she said in a huff, "Oh, and my name is Klara!"

"That's the plan for everyone isn't it?" Sun mused aloud, "To have fun while doing it."

Looking around, he saw no one else had walked by them. Everyone was either meeting others or jerking off within their rooms. At least that's what Sun assumed was the case. He didn't have mega brain powers, he knew he could be wrong.

Looking back at Jess, he asked, a teasing tone in his voice, "So, you in the mood to meet other 'Young Guardians' or is Mari still inside your head?"

Colts. Quality guns. Jack liked this guy, from his accent to his air of politeness. They were gonna get along just fine.

Jack was legitimately curious. If he was going to be fighting alongside this guy, which he knew he eventually would, he wanted to know what he could do. It was only natural.

Harold's smile quickly turned into a unsure frown. He wasn't sure whether or not to tell him about the exoskeleton and it's past. He then thought to himself," Should i tell him bout Lin's creation? On one hand, I will have to show it off the Guardians eventually. So, why not get it over with now. But, on the other hand, he might ask uncomfortable questions." "A library to find rare magical tomes..." Alasdair said and looked directly at Jacob, "I doubt you'll be able to find any tomes of great value to whatever you seek.

Jacob Philander | Section C Residence

Jacob was a tad disappointed in Alasdair's response. Why would a library organised and run by people with unique, often magical powers not have any special books on the subject. It was already difficult to find real magic tomes, especially online or in public libraries. In fact, Jacob himself planned on documenting his ability and the mystical creature inside of him, perhaps even publish the contents to help those with similar powers. Jacob had heard of the Seven Seals of Penodris, but knew nothing besides its title and its relation to magic. Jacob had tried researching it once before, as apparently one of the seals was a demonic transformation, yet discovered nothing besides useless rumours and speculation.

"Unfortunately I've heard little about your Seven Seals of Penrodis, but I suppose if only two people in the world can use it, then of course it would be of very little renown. No offence of course, I'm sure it's an amazing type of magic," sliding his hands into his pockets, he continues, "As far as I'm aware, my own magical ability is completely unknown nor documented, but seeing as I have little memory regarding how I obtained it, I believe that someone is withholding the answer."

It wasn't everyday Jacob encountered a real mage, so he reluctantly lifted up his shirt, gesturing to the fist-sized red gem in his chest, "I don't suppose a true mage such as yourself could help me understand what exactly this thing is then?"

Serge "Riot" Easton-Roux

“Serge. Serge Easton-Roux. It’s kind of surprising, a lot of people around here would have recognized me,” stated Serge, knowing that his family was famous and that his own face had been on the news when he had been revealed as a vigilante in Canada and arrested. “But then again, if you aren’t from around here, I can see why you missed it. I have to say, it’s kind of nice to meet someone that doesn’t just know me because of them and assume that I’m automatically like my family just because I share their last name. I can assure you, I’m pretty different.”

June 6th, 2024

"Bad leg. Singular. Even with one eye I can still see that." Kana chuckled and then sighed, "Taking things at face value isn't how I roll. Pun intended. Taking things at face value and trusting others is how I ended up like this... not a mistake I am eager to make again. I may come across as harsh and crass, but I really should try not to be... its not like anyone here is going to... never mind."

"As for you pitying me..." Kana began again after a moment of silence, "Don't lie. I'm not stupid. Most everyone I've met has at most a sliver of pity for me... especially when they learn about my past... which is why if you ask about it, I'm going to tell you to fuck right off and start rolling away, got it? Why am I talking this much... I've just met you after all..."

"Anyways..." Kana turned her wheelchair to face Klara again, "So, which way are you heading?"

"I born in Sparti, Greece." Admina said and then looked off to the side, "But spent my life in the dark. Fighting, training, sleeping, eating... not much more was too my life... As such, I do not know the Easton-roux family... so how am I sure that you aren't like them?"

With that she smiled, "So, what your family like? I can not remember mine..."

Alasdair Francis Damon, Blackfire

"No offence taking." Alasdair replied back, his monotone voice making it hard to determine if he either didn't care or was seriously offended. "The Seven Seals of Penodris is not a magic that I expect anyone, new to magic or an experienced master, to know about. Its good for what it was designed for. Nothing more, nothing less. So in a way, you could say its a rather dull type of magic. Unlike that."

With that Alasdair pointed to and looked at the gem in Jacob's chest. "Now that is interesting. Am I correct to assume that this gem is connected to your undocumented magic? So, you have little memory regarding how you got this gem? What do you remember about obtaining it? Do you remember where you got it? Do you remember any strange occurrences around where you got it? Do you remember how it seems to have gotten inserted into your chest?"

"Those last few questions are all just out of interest... and could help narrow down what it is." Alasdair said and looked at Jacob in the eyes, "But right now, I can say that if it is connected to your powers, then we are likely looking at some magic relic or artifact or whatever you wish to call it... though I wouldn't be surprised if it is also a magic parasite, parasitoid or symbiotic being that some how managed to find its way into our world from the other side. However, at this moment, I can only theorize."

Desmond Morrow
Desmond sat next his sister during the ride over, absentmindedly listening to Evelyn talk as she played with the Bubbler in her lap. His mind wasn’t on the grandness of the Angel’s Village, lush foliage and sparkling fountains a stark contrast to the urban sprawl they passed over. Its pristine white buildings glinted proudly in the early morning sun, standing at attention as the newest patch of heroes arrived at its pearly gates. No, his mind was on what his approach meant. For the first time in his life, he’d be on the side of the angels. He wouldn’t have to assure himself he was doing the right thing as he lead another meta to the slaughter, tell himself he wasn’t a bad guy for trying to keep his sister safe from the organization that ruined his life.

But just because he was in this heaven didn’t mean they’d just give him a halo. Nor did he believe they should. Regardless of his reasons, he was still responsible for some truly despicable things. He could’ve tried to fight back or escape like some of his other brothers and sisters-in-arms, but he didn’t. He kept his head down and followed orders like a good soldier, up until they threatened the one thing he still cared about. And though he managed to get himself out from under their heel, he wasn’t sure if he could ever balance out his past.

He sighed, following Evelyn, trying not to feel like an imposter as he helped her unload her mountain of crates and bags. She was all smiles, thanking the driver as she skipped off to her bags, letting out a swarm of her pets to help move her belongings in a strange parade from the driveway to their new home. He grabbed one of her heavier belongings and followed her to the door, surveying his surroundings as he did so. It was as beautiful on the ground as it was in the air, a perfectly manufactured exterior to show the public. Time would tell if it was more than a facade.

Desmond also passed a small group of fellow heroes, all in various stages of unloading and entering the building. He tried his best to ignore them, focusing only on moving the heavy bag, when he heard a familiar voice call out in his mind.

Come on Des, let me out. Dagon whined, rattling though the former merc's mind. We both know you’re bad at first impressions.

His reply was immediate, curt. “No.”

So what, you’re just gonna stand back here like an edgy teen and brood?

“What I’m going to do is help Evelyn move in.” Desmond muttered to himself, shifting the bag in his hand before continuing to follow his sister.

Right, right. It’s not like she has an army of abominations to help her unpack. Oh wait…

Desmond didn’t even bother with a reply, simply opening the door to let the first of Evelyn’s pets move her stuff inside. His sister didn’t follow suit, instead staying at his side, her
crimson eyes staring at him quizzically. “Is Dagon up? Kinda early for him, isn’t it?”

“So I had hoped...”

Look, my sleeping habits aside, this isn’t the Hawk Institute. You can’t just talk to Evelyn and me all the time. We’re gonna need to befriend these guys if we want them to watch our back.

Desmond continued to ignore his other half, motioning his sister to go inside. Shrugging, she listened to her brother, urging her critters forward. They chittered in response, scuttling forward with the luggage balanced on their back. Dagon spoke again, used to the silence by now. Don’t think of it as socialization. Think of it as...recon. Yeah, recon! You love that stuff. How are you gonna beat up the guys who date your sister if you don’t know what they can do?

“Same way I beat everyone else.” mumbled Desmond, eyeing the group of people again. He had considering thinking of what he’d need to do to defeat his new allies. Coming from the Hawk Institute, it was less a paranoid instinct and more a prudent forethought. But it was too early to think up strategy, especially without knowing what his new teammates could do.

If a suppressed personality could roll its eyes, Dagon would. You know what I mean Des. Like it or not, we’re gonna have to talk to these people eventually. Might as well do it now, before the cliques start to form.

Desmond didn’t say anything for a while, simply keeping the door open for the last of the creatures to come inside, drop their belongings off, and follow their master back out again. He watched his sister, long accustomed to their mental chats, pass him by to go back for the rest of her belongings. His eyes still on her, he sighed. “Fine.”

Yes!

“But no messing around.” Desmond spoke in a low, harsh tone. “I mean it. The moment I see you trying to rig the doorbells to play the crab rave I swear I’ll make sure you lose control our body for a week.” His dark eyes closed for a moment, a shudder running over him before he opened them again, deep blue ones blinking as if adjusting to the sunlight.

“No worries, Des.” Dagon smiled, stretching a bit before waving at his partner’s sister. “I’ll be on my best behavior.”

I’ll be watching…

Dagon Argrave
Dagon breathed deeply, enjoying the freshness of the morning. Angel’s Village did well to live up to its name. The whole compound looked warm and inviting, a far cry from the base camps he had served in previously. It was all he could do not to just wander the grounds, to lose himself in the lush gardens and scenic paths until the latest spark of mischief struck him. It was a place of opportunity, and he was ready to make the most of it.

“Ah, it feels good to be back!” he exclaimed, stretching himself out as he regained control over his limbs once more. “What’s with the roommate Doc? You get bored writing me as is?”

Felt like trying something new. Is that so wrong?

“Not sure why’d you wanna mess with perfection, but hey, you’re the boss.” He looked around the driveway, hoping to find the group Desmond had seen. But it was to no avail, the group no longer standing there idly. “So, where the people at?"

Dagon felt his gaze shifting towards the door he was standing in front of. After waiting for Evelyn to join him, he let himself be guided by his brilliant narrator, entering the lobby. While his friend led the rest of her pets inside, he looked for his future teammates. It didn’t take him long, and soon he found himself in front of an indeterminate amount of people of undetermined height, gender, and weight, all performing some undetermined tasks.

“That’s what makes you such a good writer Doc,” Dagon grinned, speaking to no one in particular. "You’ve got such an eye for detail.”

I’m keeping it vague for other players. Now, enough wall breaks. Go little one, socialize!

Approaching the group, he pointed behind him at the one person he knew in the whole compound. “Man, you guys see that girl with the hundred and one demons?” Leaning forward, he spoke in a loud stage whisper. “I’ve heard of crazy cat ladies but that’s a little ridiculous...”

Evelyn rolled her eyes, dragging her bags towards the stairs. “Up yours, Dagon!”

“Hope she doesn’t bring down the property value…

“You didn’t even pay for it you ass!”

“And she eavesdrops? What a monster.” He shook his head at her in mock disappointment. Turning back to them, he smiled “Not like you guys. I’m sure. You all seem like great people!” Extending his hand to the nearest person, he continued. “I’m Dagon, your friendly neighborhood craz-”

Bite your tongue, or I’ll make you bite it. Desmond’s voice spoke for the first time, clearly not keen about Dagon making a bad first impression.

“Alright, alright, sheesh.” Dagon lowered his hand, turning off to the side to face someone who clearly wasn’t there. “Though you’re not exactly helping our case, just sayin’." Turning back to the group, he raised his hand again. “I’m Dagon, your friendly neighborhood not-crazy person. Better?” His turned up, seeked approval from the overhead lights. He must have gotten it, because he continued to speak without interruption.

“Sorry about that. The grumpy person I’ve got in my head is Desmond. You’ll meet him soon enough I’m sure.” He continued smiling, as if he words made a modicum of sense. “But enough, who are you guys?”

Serge "Riot" Easton-Roux

“They’re kind of big shots. You know, the ones that you would think of when you imagine stereotypical superheroes. They tend to go on missions that are a big deal, fight villains that a lot of people have heard of, and you might see them on TV from time to time. I can’t say I didn’t grow up well off, but it would be nicer if, well… They kind of also expect all of their kids to be exactly the same as them and follow after them. You could say they’ve been shitty parents at times because of that, they only really care about Mari because she’s the one that acts like they do and me and Jess have never been that way,” said Serge, offering a shrug. He hadn’t had a hard life in the same sense as some others. But that didn’t mean it had been an easy life either.

“But hey, I like fighting. Was always looking for a fight in Canada. My power is pretty good for getting in those and not getting banged up from them,” Serge continued, raising his arms and activating his power briefly to allow Admina to see the glow of the energy shields from just under his shirt. “People tend to run up on me thinking these shields don’t do as much as they actually do. So far, just about everyone’s been wrong on that.”

Jessamyn "Heartbreaker" Easton-Roux

“I don’t consider it her being in my head. I consider it being focused on my motivation and my goals, but yes, you could say I’ve been thinking of her. When you’ve been away for years and you run into the person you hate once again, and they still put themselves above you for no good reason, it’s hard not to think about them,” said Jess before offering a shrug.

“I wouldn’t mind meeting some of the others, though,” she added. “But I sure hope the Guardians are better off than when they were when I left for the Gamblers, part of the entire reason I joined them other than running away from Mari is that there’s far too many people in the Guardians with corporate sticks up their asses. I prefer people that know how to let loose, can’t say for sure yet whether or not the people ‘round here being younger will have any impact on that or not.”

An exoskeleton. Nice. "Cool. I got superstrength with some tough skin to match. What's your weight limit? Mine's around 6000 pounds, maybe higher."

It had never occured to Jack that other heroes on the team might not be all natural. Still, if they could pull their weight, it'd be just fine.

Lora/Gwen, Dichotomy
Young Guardians Program, Section C Residence, Angel Village
June 6th, 2024

Lora was not among the group that Dagon had approached. Instead, she was standing off to the side, around a corner, just out of sight but within earshot. She had wanted to introduce herself, but when she got close to the group, she tensed up and made a decision then and there to not introduce herself. After all, the closer she would get to people, the more likely they would leave her when she came out. However as she listened in, she heard something that not only got her interest, but something that she could relate to in away. So, with a deep breath, she turned around the corner and looked in Dagon's direction, not making eye contact as she waved to him.

"H-Hello..." Lora said as she slowly edged forward. "I'm Lora... You said there is a-another person in your h-head... Is that true?"
