Dunno about other countries but in Belgium the Lotto has really become a sad affair. In the past people bought tickets and scratched or whatever, but nowadays you see middle-aged women go to a kioskn and buy two tickets, which prompts the girl behind the register to scan two tickets into a lottery machine that immediately shows her if she's won.

Woman had to pay after getting her 1,5 euro winnings discounted from the ticket price.

Somehow I find that a little sad.

Most people who do the lotto in my experience so far over the last few months usually do about 3-5 lotto slips at the same time. Seen a few do around 10 or so, its a bit mental. Though the saddest things ive seen are some of the people who use the FOBT machines, one guy yesterday won 1300 on one of them after about an hour or two, then went back on the machine for like another 5 hours right up until closing and left winning 800. No idea how much he put into that thing in total but when i was clearing the money out of it at close up it had easily near 5 times the money in it as the other two.
