You should probably go in a bit more detail about the power. I'm not quite sure how it works. Is he forming a blade with his fingers or is he turning his fingers into blades? How does the metal absorption work? Can he just absorb it or does he have to physically consume metal to use it? Is there a limit on how much he can absorb?

Also, the bio doesn't work. Not only does it not even explain the reasons why he abandoned various groups, but you can't just convince the Hawk Institute not to brainwash you. That's not how they operate, they aren't making an exception for one person. It's also very difficult to leave them and there's not even an explanation for how that is done.

It's also not clear what kind of role he would play since he's currently completely independent and not associated with any group or storyline.

Description of Powers:
  • Magically Enhanced Reaction Time - Kana possess an incredible reaction time to visual, audio and touch stimuli. Her visual reaction time is equal to 0.0016 seconds, her audio reaction time is equal to 0.0008 seconds and her touch reaction time is equal to 0.0006 seconds.
  • 360 Degree Awareness - Kana possess a 360 degree awareness, allowing her to react to threats from any direction. However, she does not possess enhanced senses, and as such while she can "see" behind her, she can only "see" as far behind her as much as she can in front of her.
  • Hecatoncheires Legacy - See the spoiler for all the details... warning, lots of maths and physics used to demonstrate limits...
    Kana is capable of manifesting one hundred arms of solidified magic energy. These arms are visible, and have about the same thickness as Kana's physical arm (or arms, yet to decide on physical appearance). The range of these arms depends on whether they are defensive or offensive arms. Range isn't the only factor dependent on whether the arm is a defensive or offensive. Other factors include travel speed (moving over short to long distances), strength, durability, reflex speed (moving over very short distances), striking force and dexterity. There are always 50 defensive arms, and 50 offensive arms.

    Defensive arms have an effective range of 3 metres (about 10 feet), and are capable of moving with enough speed to meet Kana's reaction speed of 0.0016 seconds (75x faster than the fastest recorded reaction speed), as such the top reflex speed of the defensive arms are about 1062 m/s (or about 3484 ft/s). However, the travel speed of these arms is around the speed of the average punch at only about 7 m/s (about 23 ft/s). A single defensive arm is capable of generating enough strength to lift 2.3 kg (about 5 lbs). Therefore, when all 50 defensive arms are acting in tandem are capable of lifting about 113 kg (about 250 lbs). The defensive arms have a durability great enough to stop bullets of a 7.62x51 mm caliber or lower and are resistant to most other piercing, blunt or cutting weapons. The defensive arms are also highly resistant to elemental effects, either natural or magical. The defensive arms have a max striking force of about 42 pounds-force (about 187 N). However, this is only the force of an individual arm, therefore, if all 50 defensive arms hit a single target, they are capable of delivering a blow equal to 2,100 pounds-force (about 9341 N). In terms of dexterity, which is hard to calculate, the defensive arms are comparable to the hands of a surgeon.

    The offensive arms have an effective range of 15 metres (about 50 feet), but are unable to move at speeds to match Kana's reaction speed of 0.0016 seconds, and as such the top reflex speed of the offensive arms are about 25 m/s (or about 82 ft/s). The travel speed of these arms is about 42 m/s (or about 138 ft/s) which is about 3x faster than the fastest recorded punch while also remaining comparable to major league pitch speeds, and as such is still capable of being react to. A single offensive arm is capable of generating enough strength to lift 20 kg (about 44 lbs). Therefore, when all 50 offensive arms are acting in tandem are capable of lifting about 1000 kg (about 2205 lbs). The offensive arms lack durability as they can not block any caliber of bullet, or stand up to much damage of piercing, blunt or cutting weapons as they have a similar durability to a regular human arm. As such they also lack resistance to elemental effects. The offensive arms have a max striking force of 785 pound-force (about 3492 N). However, this is only the force of an individual arm, therefore, if all 50 offensive arms hit a single target, they are capable of delivering a blow equal to 39,250 pound-force (about 174,593 N). In terms of dexterity, which is hard to calculate, the offensive arms are not very dexterous, and struggle with manipulating small objects.

  • Slowly Aging - Kana's physical aging process has been drastically slowed, resulting in her appearing to age far, far slower than normal. It should be mentioned, that only her physical appearance is effect. Therefore, "under the skin" she ages like every other person.

Weaknesses:Using all 100 arms for extended periods of time is very, very taxing on the mind, and can cause damage to her mind. As such only 20 are used at a time, as any more being used simultaneously causes migraines (intensity increases with number) after using them, and also causes difficulty concentrating on the world around her (as most of her brain power goes to controlling the arms). Arms that are damaged beyond repair or severed dissipate, and require 24 hours to regenerate (but can be replaced quickly with arms not in use). Kana is also confined to a wheelchair, and physically feeble. As such, her physical body is highly susceptible to all forms of attacks (if they can get by the defensive arms) and also possess a weaker than average immune system. As such, she is on plenty of medications, and if she loses access to these medications her condition will rapidly deteriorate, leading ultimately to death. She is almost always in pain, and thus takes pain killers on the regular. It is also worth noting that Kana does suffer from night terrors and PTSD as well.

Personality: Kana is a strong willed and confident individual. Despite this confidence, which can come across as cockiness, Kana knows her limitations well, and is not afraid to ask for help from those she trusts and considers friends. Her trusting other people though is another matter, as due to her parents, she finds trusting others hard, especially when trusting those much older than her. Kana is not afraid to say what she is thinking. She acts strong and joyful, but as those who get to know her and gain her trust know, she is living a painful and lonely existence. Even though she may trust someone, she never feels as if she can trust them completely, and as such her relationships don't run very deep, adding to the loneliness she feels almost constantly. Finally, Kana is highly empathetic and caring. If someone she considers a friend appears to be sad or hurting, Kana will always try to help them. Same goes for random children.

Motivation: To prove to herself that she can still be useful in the real world, and to prevent other children from being experimented on

Biography:Born in Dawson City in the Yukon territory of Canada to two mages. Her father was an American magic user originally from Seldovia, Alaska, USA; her mother was a Canadian magic user, a member of the Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in Aboriginals, and was from Dawson, Yukon, Canada. Her parents seemed like your normal citizens capable of magic and normal parents. Loving and caring parents to be precise. For her early years, Kana would have agreed, but once it became obvious that Kana had a relatively large mana pool, they changed. Well, not so much changed as allowed their daughter to see their true selves.

Kana's parent were evil plain and simple. They were obsessed with trying to create what they considered to be the perfect living weapon; a weapon with incredible power, and one that they could control like a puppet. Unfortunately for Kana, she was the perfect specimen in the eyes of her parents. However, before they risked starting their experiments on their daughter, they had to get out of sight of everyone they knew, and so, the family moved from Dawson, Yukon, Canada to an isolate cabin North-West of Anaktuvuk Pass in Alaska, USA.

Her parents experimentation on their daughter began not long after arriving at their new place. At first it wasn't obvious to Kana what they were doing, as it seemed they were just trying to get Kana to understand magic, and teach her how to use it. But things started to change as Kana got older. Once Kana started learning how to use her magic, her parents went on to trying to control her. They started with more under the table methods as they employed magic concoction of their own creation. These concoctions didn't work as her parents desired, and instead of pushing her into trances that allowed for them to easily control her, the concoctions had more poisonous effects. The concoctions ended up weakening her immune system over time with the constant poisoning.Her parents eventually abandoned the use of the concoctions, due to them not having the effect they desired, her parents turned to black magic to continue their experiments and to keep their weakened daughter alive.

Thus the most obvious experimentation began. Kana would find herself sealed away in a locked room, deprived of light for the majority of the next chapter of her life. The only time she'd see light was when her parents dragged her out and preformed their experiments on her. It became obvious to even the 13 year old Kana that her parents no longer saw her as a daughter, but as a tool to use to further their own desires. Her parents experimentation yielded some results, at the cost of Kana's right eye, left leg, constant physical pain and drastically slowing the aging of her physical appearance.

The experiments didn't yet result in her parents having total control over Kana, but they did have some control. The experiments at this point also increase Kana's magic power, and gave her greater control of her magic. But her parents didn't quite have total control, so the experiments, physical abuse, and mental abuse continued. Her parents would never gain total control of their daughter, as Kana made a decision. She would free herself.

So, in order to bear the pain, she would submit to them in the light, but in her isolated darkness, the hate would grow. Kana would tap this hate to fuel her will to survive, and fuel her secret training. Through hatred her magic became more powerful, and she obtained greater control of it. This would eventually lead to Kana breaking free of her dark isolation, and killing her parents. This would happen when she was 16 years old.

Using her Hecatoncheires Legacy, she would escape the isolate cabin, using the arms produced as legs. She would eventually find herself lost in the Alaskan wilderness, but luckily for her, someone would find her unconscious in the snow and take her to his home in Coldfoot, Alaska. This person was an old mage, and when Kana learned of this, she got afraid, and tried to kill her savior. Fortunately she didn't, and the mage would help her learn to trust again. He would also help her learn more about her magic and its limits. This mage was an old man named Nathan Hector, and would give her the gun she keeps in her wheelchair bag.

She would get the opportunity to do more than just live a quiet life, an opportunity to prove she could still effect the world and protect the innocent.

Power Classification: Genetic/Magic

Description of Powers: Earth Magic - Sage is an accomplished Earth Mage, with a specialization in generating durable crystals she uses to create weapons and armor. Beyond this, she can manipulate earth, creating walls, pits, domes, and more. In addition she can launch earth, or her own generated crystals at high speeds (The smaller the weight, the faster it moves) giving her an effective ranged attack.

Enhanced Physicality - Stamina, Strength, Agility, Reaction Time, Dexterity, all of it has been enhanced. Stamina and Strength are both actually superhuman (Sage need's about 1/2 much rest as a human, and recovers from fatigue twice as quickly), though at low levels (Sage’s current max feat sits at 2400lbs benched) Their Agility and Dexterity are both finely honed, and are at professional athlete levels with moderate training. Basically everything not mentioned can be assumed to be about twice human average (or 50% better if twice would take it above human limits).

Body Transformation- Magic - Can alter their sex, and some basics about build (Hair, Bone Structure, Colors, ETC), in a few scant minutes. They also can’t alter muscle mass, and while they can replace scar tissue created from normal attacks, magical injuries still scar, and remained scarred as per normal. More complex changes such as built takes far longer, weeks of work for a few inches or 15-20 pounds.

Weaknesses:Diet - Sage needs twice as much food and water as a human does to stay healthy, though they starve/dehydrate at the normal human rate. Under normal circumstances this isn't a major drawback, but long operations or capture could leave Sage vulnerable. Furthermore, Sage has a intense craving for, and consumes copious amounts of sugar. Finally while attempting to change height or weight, Sage's dietary requirements increase even further

Earth Magic (Generated Constructs) - The constructs react to energy (Fire, Sound, Light, Electricity, Direct Magic, ETC) as the normal version of the constructs would (Particularly vulnerable to rapid sequential heating and cooling). Once Sage stops touching her constructs , a timer starts, during which the crystals begin degrading, returning to energy if you will. All constructs, no matter how strong or weak, have the same timer. Over the course of an hour they breakdown, weakening, and fade away. Touching the constructs again in that hour restarts the timer, but does not reset the damage done to them without further use of the power.


Equipment: Sage favors shotguns, and her own constructs. As she puts it, she's going to be close most of the time anyway, might as well use a weapon designed for it.

Personality: Sage is, contrary to her appearance, a fairly quiet, and introverted person. While she has few issues talking with others, she is closed off, and private about herself. Once you earn Sage’s trust, a hard fought battle, she is quite friendly and open with you, and exceedingly loyal, treating you as she would her family.
Motivation: Sage's primary motivation is the protection and care of Carolina, followed by just trying to create a new life for herself after her old ones were shattered.

Biography: Sage Shields was born as Andy Shields, and Sage Lundin in Canada and Sweden respectively. Both lived fairly normal lives, with healthy loving families, that was until they were about ten years old. In a pattern not very different from Hawk, they were bot abducted and trafficked around the world until finally ending up in Compound 001, hidden in the jungles of Mexico. The people that abducted them were, in some ways fortunately and others unfortunately, not Hawk. Instead they were pretenders trying to challenge Hawk's mercenaries and influence. After years of forceful punishment, and brainwashing, the leader of the origination, known as Eclipse Industries, used her magic to take the Genetic Metahuman Andy, and the young Mage Sage, and forcefully combined them.

The new being, aged both zero and fifteen, continued to be trained and programmed for Eclipse's own purposes. By the time Carolina Riveria, now Carolina Shields, showed up, Sage was thoroughly broken, and nearly ready to be the first successful project of the compound to start bringing in money. Now seventeen, Carolina was only eight, and already one of the organizations projects herself. The young telepath though, was far less broken than her adoptive older sister, and used her powers to piece Sage, and soon, Ashura, back together.

Two years later, shortly after Ashura had undergone the same magical binding as Sage and Carolina, Sage led a breakout of the facility, leading all fifteen residents on a rampage, slaughtering the guards and leaders they could find, including their creator, and burning the place to the ground. Most of the group went their separate ways, trying only to return to their old lives. This was not an option for Ashura, Sage, or Carolina, so instead they tried to build new lives for a year and half. Finally, realizing that Sage couldn't do this o her own, she made the decision to join the Young Guardians, hoping to give Carolina some small vestige of normalcy. Ashura followed suit, keeping the three of the bound to together.

Description of Powers: Telepathy - Carolina is a telepath, and a young, inexperienced one. With her Mutism, telepathy and sign language are her main ways to communicate, as she can both send and receive thoughts. Though exhausting, she is known to also be able to view memories, and has used her telepathy in the past to piece broken minds back together, mostly by talking with the remnants and pulling them back together.

Mild Body Transformation- Magic - Can alter some basics about build (Hair, Bone Structure, Colors, ETC), but not height, or weight. She also can’t alter muscle mass, and while she can replace scar tissue created from normal attacks, magical injuries still scar, and remained scarred as per normal.

Enhanced Physicality - Carolina weighs roughly twice what it looks like she does, and has the physical abilities of a fully grown, semi-athletic woman. Has greatly enhanced stamina, needing roughly half as much rest as a human, and recovers form fatigue twice as fast.

Personality: Quiet, reserved, and very shy. Carolina rarely interacts with people, and when she does it's limited, partially do to her inability to vocalize. Has issues with boundaries, especially when her telepathy is taken into account. If she opens up to someone, she either really trusts them, or thinks they'll be good for Ashura or Sage, depending on many small factors.

Biography: Born as Severa Scardino, and Carolina Rodriguez. Like many others abducted by Eclipse, she was abducted at a young age. The youngest actually, being only five and eight at the times she was taken, and then experimented on. For one reason or another, the programming didn't stick, and she kept her independence long enough to break its influence on Sage and the others. Unfortunately, being exposed to such things at such a young age has left her literally unable to speak. She follows Sage around closely, always as close as she can safely be when Sage isn't somewhere Carolina can't go. Carolina avoids confrontation as much as possible, and shies away from weapons and hand to hand.

When Sage started bringing up that she might try and join the Young Guardians, Carolina struggled with the idea of it, but eventually told Sage that she'd follow her anywhere, so long as she was careful. While she still doesn't like the idea, she has come to understand that Sage is doing it make sure that she has what she needs to care for Carolina. Carolina wears longs sleeves and a scarf nearly at all times, hiding the various remnants of her time at the compound, and her removing the scarf is a major sign of trust.

2. Can you make your characters neutral/factionless?

Yes to both questions.

The latter shouldn't be done though unless you have pre existing plans with someone, otherwise you won't get interactions.

I'm okay with that I'll have limited interactions, the worst that can happen are
1. I start to make NPC's for Bengal Conglomerate
2. My character goes insane of being constantly alone
3. My character dies

Oh my.

Quick Query:

Would a toned down Coven (from the forgotten failed application) be accepted? She's not even really a glass cannon, but more of a glass eye.

Because she can gather information and stuff.

It makes sense in my mind.

I'm not going to accept a bunch of NPCs for a major faction unless they serve some kind of storyline purpose. Which they wouldn't right now. Besides, even if there were NPCs, that doesn't mean you would get interaction. It means you would be left RPing with yourself.

Description of Powers:
  • Dreamwalker: Candace can enter the subconscious mind to observe. This doesn't always yield good results but can be useful at times. However, everything seen in the subconscious mind isn't necessarily the same as what is seen in the conscious mind. Things can be confusing, misleading, sometimes inaccurate, and the power offers no help with interpreting them. That is left to Candace herself, and Candace is in no way the best psychologist or dream interpreter in the world. When entering someone's subconscious, Candace will see it as a semi-physical manifestation. Candace can also read the dreams of others.
  • Dreamed Entities: Candace is also able to bring about entities from her own subconscious and her dreams into the real world. The process takes time and has to be done over the course of minutes and not seconds, and also requires focus. Large things require hours rather than just minutes and the less rudimentary the thing, the harder it would be to create. This is why the largest thing that Candace has created is a dragon, and why creating people is a tough trick for her. Once created, each entity that Candace brings into the world will be physically taxing on her, meaning that the smart route would be to desummon them when they are not needed.
  • Plane Shift: Candace can enter an energy form between planes and while she can still be hurt, this form allows for much faster travel despite being harder to control, making fine movements like attacks impossible. This plane also allows Candace to use flight, and to travel through the air at speeds of up to 55mph. Use of this form is also physically taxing.

Weaknesses: Candace's entities vary in creation time depending on the size so larger ones cannot be created on the spot. They also require focus to create, and this can be interrupted somewhat easily, even unintentionally at times. The fact that they are physically taxing means that Candace is worse in a fight as it goes on.

Equipment: At times, Candace will ride a winged mount into battle, but this is not guaranteed. Her weapon of choice is an AA-12 shotgun which can be used while riding a mount, such as a small dragon, to devastating effect. However, Candace will change her equipment when not using a mount.

Personality: Candace is a fairly free spirit who cares greatly about her personal independence, but at the same time, she generally leans on the good side of the moral axis and tries to do her best in her role as a hero. She is somewhat cocky because of her celebrity status and prone to being overconfident.

Motivation: To find herself and where she fits in as a hero.

Biography: Going between France and the United States made up much of Candace's childhood. Her parents, Chandler and Clementine Marin, were known as celebrities in both countries, even if they weren't at the same stature as some of the other famous figures in the Guardians. Chandler was a part of the Alliance of Six for a long time, Clementine was a member of Team Liberty in her home country, one of the more well known and iconic teams in the Guardians. Candace is the second oldest of their children and while she was born in Chicago, she also spent time in France and she spent plenty of time training and perfecting her powers early on to eventually work alongside her parents.

She never quite fit their mold in the same way that her older sister, Cassandra, or her younger brother, Cassius, did. They were more proper heroes and Candace was more of an antihero, willing to do different things in a fight that weren't done by her siblings, believing that the good side wasn't always the fair one. Outside of training, Candace was always more of a free spirit who wanted to talk how she wanted, do what she wanted, and generally not be constrained by the image of a hero. This led to Candace heading off to Monaco at age nineteen, where she joined the rising team known as the Gamblers and helped them take their flashy branding to the next level. Bright colors, unique personalities, and strangely colored hair was their thing, and Candace helped them perfect this style.

Candace became something of an idol in the alternative community, with her unique sense of fashion and style and her status as a superhero that didn't fit the usual boxes. However, her time in Monaco didn't end on a great note. She went through something of a personal crisis following a fight with her best friend, Vivian Shaw, which resulted in Vivian heading back home to Chicago. Not much longer after that, Candace returned to the United States and to the Guardians, with her former place in Monaco filled with bad memories of the past years.

They're not really a threat but they also aren't pushovers either. They have a middle of the road status, they wouldn't be able to take down the Guardians anytime soon but the Guardians haven't been able to take them down either.

Spying on the Guardians is extremely hard and the Bengal Conglomerate wouldn't do so in the first place, as their primary goal is to make profits and not to fight the Guardians. They only fight with them or interact with them at all when they have no options around it.
