Shwe Tu Colony + Other Civilizations Q&A (OOC & IC)

Postby Shwe Tu Colony » Sun Jan 07, 2018 2:26 pm

OOC: Last thread failed, so here's a reboot. Anyways, if you ask out of character questions (that must still pertain to Shwe Tu Colony), either don't place quotation marks around what you say or don't have a person's name after the question.

Shwe Tu Colony, properly known as the Demon Empire's Colony of Parufhmerie, is a colony of Parfuhmerie, which is itself a colony of the sprawling Demon Empire, a civilization of demons that inhabits Sheogh in the world of Ashan & has numerous colonies throughout the various regions of the currently unnamed world of Parfuhmeire. While the empire is ruled by the mighty Demon Sovereign, also known as Kha-Beleth, he permits a great amount of autonomy to his colonies in order to keep them loyal. On the other hand, he uses fear & any other such methods at his disposal in order to keep his own Ashan demons — the far more finicky variant of demons — in line.

In comparison to the canonical Ubisoft continuum, Parfuhmerie's story begins following the "Dark Messiah", in which case the Demon Messiah Sareth decides to not permanently free his father Kha-Beleth using the Skull of Shadows. As a result, the demons are not able to leak into the world of Ashan & are only capable of exiting their prison during the Lunar Eclipses (also known as the Bloodmoon Eclipses) or when summoned. However, this passing period before the seventh eclipse was a unique one: this time, a curious Dwarvern mage from the Shurmian Region created a portal in a passageway that, unbeknownst to him, was filled with Chao crystals.

Naturally, Kha-Beleth opened an expedition for demons to investigate this new portal, led by the half demon adventurer D'artego. After exiting through the portal, they would walk through the winding passageways that were laden with the Chao crystals, this path soon being named the Fiend's Crossroads. As a result, their minds were changed: now, they were ironically far more docile & less chaotic than their brethren back in the world of Ashan, leading to great surprise on the Demon Sovereign's part when D'artego & a group of the colonist demons returned, now noticeably less violent.

Following this, the demons would quickly found the colonies of Canritola, Parfuhmerie, & Ai'Bua in the Thallian, Thryllasian, & Shurmian regions respectively. Later, a sorcerer in Canritola, alongside a Jungian shadow of a prominent warlord, would be captured & fused in the disastrous experiment at Aknal Island, birthing future Parfuhmerian Head of Economics Sekka Verndara & his cousin the Chao Massacre Tenebrae Verndara. Later on, the experiment would awaken the sentient basket-hilted sword Heartshatter — a normal weapon which was enchanted by sheer emotion — & soon thereafter the Derlia Infection would also awaken from Heartshatter's creation.

So in other words, the whole thing started because of Kha-Beleth's plan backfiring. While unfortunate in the short term, Kha-Beleth's inability to conquer Ashan & the Silver Cities meant that there would still be wizards & scholars interested in founding Psytronius, who as we know have developed the usage of magic for extraordinary purposes. Thanks to Kha-Beleth's wishes for his colonies' loyalty, he does not require of them to assist him during Bloodmoon Eclipses (although he still greatly suggests it) due to some existing friendships with Ashan surface cities that may be ruined by going to war with them. However, the prosperity from the colonies is still used by Kha-Beleth, who keeps his sources intentionally ambiguous to prevent ruining colonist relationships with Ashan cities. While most certainly evil, Kha-Beleth is not foolish.

Seeing how the world of Parfuhmerie & Shwe Tu Colony might be rather unique to most other civilizations, Sekka Verndara opened a Q&A before this one, but that promptly failed. As such, this is a sekond attempt on his part for a Q&A, although this is primarily focused on just Parfuhmerie & Shwe Tu Colony. The Q&A has been expanded to include other civilizations & groups present in their world.

Due to the adaptable nature of the demons, who compose most of the population, & longer histories with other nations than those around them, we have been able to dominate the Thryllasian Region economically, further boosted by our position meaning we are also able to control trade coming into or out of La Friglas & the Shurmian Region, which have some economic power as well. In addition, Tariffs are additionally imposed on anyone moving through trading in Parfuhmerie & protection money taken for those moving through. Since we also have a presence across many other civilizations in the multiverse, our Me'kal Si'vo is also a major trade center, which provides us with plenty of resources & additional money. Lastly, assassin contracts, poisons, & alchemical goods are also heavily exported from Parfuhmerie for use by others.

Other than the socialist aspect, it seems to be a decent enough place. I will say that I find socialism, communism, & their related forms to be a bit foolishly idealistic, though I do say that there should be some economic equality in a civilization to ensure that everyone can live at least decently & also have a chance to show off their abilities. I don't prefer democracy as a primary system of government, but I have ruled over a fickle race, so it's due to a bias from them since I simply can't trust them to their own devices.

I and many other Parfuhmerians do not know your nation well enough for us to form an opinion, so it is mostly neutral. I did not see anything to complain about nor anything to applaud, or maybe I simply didn't search heard enough. Nonetheless, I will wait and see what actions your nation and yourself take — I know better than to form a prejudice before I meet someone, although there is always a mild caution that I treat anyone I don't know well with.

Apparently there's a social Darwinist side in that it's people who are innately inferior in some way rather than having developed to be that way who are executed (Parfuhmerie adopts the latter system), but I think it's still a horrible ideology — it crushes the meritocratic spirit that I so love and uses some childish assumptions to needlessly persecute certain members of the citizenry for some strange reason. It additionally curbs the citizens' freedom, which I find unnecessary, and if that was done in Parfuhmerie, there would be a violent revolt that would end with no victor. On an economic side, the ideology dislikes capitalism and is socialist, which I find foolish yet again. Overall, I do not think Nazism to be a very effective ideology in maintaining a nation, needlessly culling otherwise potentially excellent, contributing members of society due to absurdly minute flaws. It seems to be used by people who want control and power for themselves rather than prosperity for their nation.

Using AIs to help manage and develop a nation's economy certainly sounds like a wonderful idea so long as the natural counterpart is never lost, for when a society grows over reliant on something, it becomes easier to destroy them. No security is impenetrable, and a determined attacker can eventually find a route into even the most marvelous of fortifications. If they do, then they can just as easily damage their opponent, and in the case of using an AI to manage an economy, can easily destroy a nation when their luxuries have become a necessity. Otherwise, AIs should be able to dramatically increase the efficiency of an economy, but I say to always have several backups and reserves in the event of disaster.

I know that he would never dare to stay silent for so long, especially since there is a hostile presence that I have been told of. However, he had expressed interest in reviving this here question and answer thread, so I have decided to do that for him. I will attempt to answer any questions related to Parfuhmerie and Shwe Tu Colony to the best of my abilities, and those that I can not I shall forward to a more knowledgeable Parfuhmerian.

It is with great pleasure that I announce that I have found my way back. Additionally, I will note that I am officially expanding the Shwe Tu Colony/Parfuhmerie Q&A to additionally allow questions for other civilizations or groups in my world, like Psytronius or The Gatekeeper. When possible, their leaders will directly write through this thread, but otherwise I will be relaying their messages. As it had turns out, several official seals have gone missing or do not work when sent out of our universe, so some of the leaders must recreate theirs for their messages.

Greetings, my friends! I would like to ask a few simple questions regarding your world. To date, may I ask, what is the tallest height that your people has reached? And after that question is said and done, have you had any experiences with people invading your worlds? Reading through the intel, invasion on your worlds will be unwise, but has someone tried it anyway, in a vain attempt that they will win? If so, have they ever come close to winning? Not that I'm asking to invade you all, mind you; just a question from your curious Val!

An intriguing question, and one we will not hesitate to answer, seeing as what we might say ought to be common knowledge to any would-be conqueror anyway, and it is of little significance as, say, military secrets. Consequently, we see little threat in speaking about our history, in your pursuit of knowledge. Starting off, we have theorized that there is no tallest height to our world as a result of the infinite generation employed by our creator deity, although our own experiment involving Domeses of Air magic Stribog Enlil resulted in at least one astronomical unit of air above our world before we elected to recall him when he suddenly began to take monumental damage, nearly dying after a second past a certain threshold. Upon further testing the next day, we found that this damage point, which we have called the "sky void," begins at one astronomical unit, and presumably stretches above to discourage further exploration. As the code for this point described this "sky void" as dealing an excessive amount of maximum health as damage and ignoring any sort of defensive measures, it is unlikely that anything that anyone might have can survive. That said, it is unlikely anything above the sky will be useful.

As for invaders, we have had only one major incident, which resulted in the destruction of the Thryllasian Plateau, a "generation error" island that suddenly manifested off the coast of Parfuhmerie that rose straight out of the land rather than gently slope downwards, with only one side of it being accessible. Upon being discovered by a separate band of Dwarfs from a closely-affiliated universe that titled themselves "The Alliance" and claimed to be refugees from a war between a brick-based civilization and a nature-based ones, the site was used and claimed by the Nacre family, who had befriended the Dwarfs. From there, they created five sectors from the five chunks of the island: Harlequin's Hand, which provided much of the purple oil responsible for the island's mortar, lighting, and cuisine, and also housed the chapel for Sakana Nacre's wedding with Huile Nacre, an oil elf native to the plateau; Rewes, a small settlement dedicated to the cleansing of sewage from The Alliance's original city; Qu'rana Jungles, the home of Huile's brother Luir Nacre and the burgeoning site of a new Dwarvern keep; Nacre Estates, the main settlement where most of the workers were housed and the site of an airport and the future one for an at-then unfinished mall and finished auditorium; and Erebus Canyons, the site of an excavation of a shrine that The Alliance claimed matched the exact design of theirs.

The success at the Thryllasian Plateau was short-lived, as soon after the completion of Rewes and during the construction of the mall at Nacre Estates, a Tartarian Gate — skull-like openings in the ground around the size of a building, and just as capable of swallowing one whole — opened at Harlequin's Hand, swiftly destroying the unprepared village there. The dwarfs present seemed unsurprised by this, however, as they had also just learned of the beginning of the destruction of their city through similar events, wherein monsters like those that came from the gate had invaded their homeland. As such, they told the Nacre family, and all the other civilians, that they were willing to die then and there, for they had no other home to go to, only for the five Nacres to insist on staying, each managing the sector they were in charge of: Huile at Harlequin's Hand, Sakana at Rewes, Luir at Qu'rana Jungles, Norni at Nacre Estates, and Orichalkos at Erebus Canyons. They were told the monster hordes would be infinite, but still decided to help the dwarfs as much as they could.

Slowly, the Nacres began to lose their island, starting with Harlequin's Hand. As she fought, Huile saw that the presence of the Tartarian Gates began to distort the land around them, slowly sinking it into the sea; by the time the monsters began their invasion of Rewes, the chapel where she had married Sakana was beginning to lean in the sinking soil alongside the remains of the village and the shrine, a holy structure that the Dwarfs sought to defend. According to the ones she had fled with, the shrines' powers were used to keep the main invasion force of the monsters at bay, and whenever one of the sectors lost their shrines, said force would begin to consume the area, unseen by everyone.

Despite collapsing the bridge that led to Rewes, Huile and Sakan found Rewes fairly undefended as the civilians had already begun evacuating at the airport at Nacre Estates, whereas most of the Dwarfs were killed at Harlequin's Hand. However, they were suddenly reborn at the keep shrine, at which point they explained that they were stuck in an endless battle as a result of their leader cursing the Dwarven Gods for the loss of his son, and as such would be able to defend all sections of the Thryllasian Plateau. With their help (as well as informing the other Nacres at their sections to begin what preparations they could), Sakana sealed the routes to Qu'rana Jungles and Nacre Estates, planning to use magic once the last shrine of Rewes was lost to teleport him to the next defense at Qu'rana, where the Dwarfs were already detecting hints of the evil energy their enemies were composed of.

Noticing the indoor hallways of Rewes, the Dwarfs told Sakana that they would have to greatly renovate his keep to improve their survival time, which he allowed them to do. As such, the hallways were narrowed in order to enhance the effectiveness of a powerful rampage that allowed the Dwarfs to slaughter dozens of weaker monsters at a time. When the invasion of Rewes began, another Tartarian Gate erupted in front of the wooden wall at their vanguard, additionally launching a fireball that destroyed its gate and thus leaving only their stone wall as their first line of defense, alongside the dwarfs there. What followed was a fierce battle, with Sakana using his mighty shield to safeguard the Dwarfs and Huile using her oil bombs to slow them down. In tandem with the tight spaces of their bridges and keep, the monsters found their advance slowed to a crawl, and thus the Dwarfs held onto Rewes for a few days — longer than their defense at Harlequin's Hand.

Inevitably, the three shrines were lost, but Sakana and Huile were successfully teleported to Qu'rana Jungles, where a Tartarian Gate was already awaiting them, alongside Luir and several Elven rangers of various universal origins that he had recruited. Despite the initial racial dislike on the Dwarfs' part, they swiftly put their grudges aside when they realized that these Elves would prove essential to their operations in the Qu'rana Jungles, where their acrobatic abilities could quickly move through the trees. As expected, though, the keep here was eventually lost as well, but not before Luir was able to test out an enormous ballista atop his keep that devastated an enemy dragon, an opponent which the Dwarfs thought was invincible to all but cocoa beans. Later on, it turned out that the engineer responsible for the ballista bolts was eating partially-melted chocolate while putting them in, causing him to gently coat his ammunition in enough cocoa to take down his target.

The next sector to be taken was Nacre Estates, where the Dwarfs constructed one of their shrines in the middle of the still-unfinished mall, using the scaffolding, beams, and auditorium seats as archer positions, though their enemies had much the same idea as well. Thankfully, the magic of the shrines, as well as the power of Norni Nacre and the other three there, were enough to prevent most of the opponents from taking advantage of said positions or from invading the airport before all of the civilians had fled. By the time the last plane was loaded and beginning to take off, the monsters were beginning their invasion of the shrine in the middle of the airport, which was an artificial structure off of the Thryllasian Plateau. As the last survivors fought, Norni activated a barricade that prevented them from falling off, removing their enemies' largest advantage of using sheer force to force the Dwarfs wherever they wanted, namely in the forms of goblin bombs and ogre clubs.

Just before they lost the shrine, Nacre ordered for the bridge and the airport to be destroyed, buying a couple of extra hours for the Dwarfs to recuperate before the airport's supports were destroyed by Tartarian Gates erupting from beneath the sea, thus destroying the shrine as well. Thus, Nacre Estates was lost, and the final defense at the Erebus Canyons was imminent. Here, Orichalkos Nacre — the at-then teenage son of Sakana and Huile — was already waiting, the excavation having already unearthed a final Dwarvern shrine, as well as a stairwell up to what the Dwarfs assumed was a second shrine, ruined long ago and thus impossible to repair. As a result, the Nacres ordered it to be cleaned to place a helicopter there, as their magical energy for their teleportation was beginning to run out, and for Norni to summon another barrier to prevent sneaky monsters from destroying it. When said helicopter arrived, the pilot gave a horrifying report of the destruction of the last four sections, namely how the only part left of Harlequin's Sand was the tilting chapel and how the landscape was being consumed by Tartarian Gates and the fire that surrounded them.

The Nacres and the dwarfs braced for the inevitable cracking and eruptions of more gates, only to instead be greeted by a hydra's three heads ramming in from the three canyons that led towards the shrine, at which point the beast opened its mouths and let monsters begin to spill out from it. As expected, another battle erupted, with the dwarfs having a slight advantage thanks to the narrow spaces of Erebus Canyons, but they still inevitably lost, at which point the Nacres — unaffected by the curse, and told by the Dwarfs to flee to save themselves anyway — began a desperate sprint up the stairs, with Huile taking off the oil bomb-generating device on her back & throwing it behind her, nearly hitting Norni and striking the monster behind him, unleashing a deluge of viscous oil that pushed back all of their pursuers and slowed them down long enough for them to flee on their helicopter.

The Nacres watched the Thryllasian Plateau suddenly sink much more rapidly into the sea, its mountains collapsing and slamming into the sea, the chapel finally leaning enough to tear itself in half, and lastly the dark colors of purple oil and sewage tainting the waters of the Thryllasian Sea. From here, we will trust Sekka Verndara to tell you the Parfuhmerian part of this story.

I do believe that we have met once before, but that is beside the point. According to my good friend Jhora Mendica and Pedro Rafir, you have asked for the story of the monster invasion at Parfuhmerie.

Starting off, the Nacres sought refuge at Parfuhmerie, and by then I had just heard of the island's destruction from some harbor workers. Before I could offer to send them back to Renstar, we were interrupted by a local hunter informing us that yet another Tartarian Gate had opened in the wetlands in front of the city. At this, I was shocked — I had visited the universe where these gates were from, but I found it odd that the Titaness responsible for them, Hekate, would so suddenly go against me. Nonetheless, I pushed this thought away, and declared a state of emergency and for the routes into the city to be sealed, as well as summoning my own Dwarvern shrines, a technique that I had learned in the frankly ridiculously-named city that was the prior home of The Alliance that Pedro ought to have mentioned. I knew that so long as there were shrines, Parfuhmerie would be safe, and I decided to place a shrine just in front of the city's gates, another on the bridge to the harbor, and one in the harbor itself.

Once I returned to the first shrine, I found not only the five Nacres waiting for me, but a number of old friends from The Alliance's city, but as much as we both wanted to catch up with one another, we all knew that we would have to act fast, and as such I directed them to an old warehouse filled with gravel at the harbor, which they could harvest with shovels to create stone for walls, and a sawmill with a supply of purple oil; prior this invasion, I had some minor trade contact with their civilization, and as such had these locations and resources as gifts. However, what we lacked was gold and equipment, but after some searching through my villa I was able to locate some old armory equipment that I put near the harbor shrine, whereas I used my own money to purchase a supply of gold ore for the Dwarfs to use.

Alongside the other Nacres, my assassins, and the Dwarfs themselves, we began to prepare Parfuhmerie for the inevitable battle. As expected, the enemy hordes were quite literally endless, but thanks to Boudica Debenham's magic, the assassins who were about to die were teleported back into the city, where they were kept out of the way. By the time we had reached the harbor, it was mainly the high-ranking assassins and some more surprisingly resilient Dwarfs that I suspected to not have been from the region I was a part of, if their warring ways were of any indication. We held our last shrine for several days, but eventually we were overwhelmed and the monsters, after chasing and slaughtering the surviving Dwarfs, disappeared alongside their Tartarian Gate, leaving behind only the ruined walls and some minor damage on our own structures. The cleanup effort took a few days, and I ordered the construction of a memorial for my friends, who I knew were still out there, fighting in their endless war.

A war that, for a short while, I had joined. Once I found a portal that would lead me to their battlefields, I bid Parfuhmerie adieu, telling them that if they needed me I would race back in, but that otherwise I would be gone for a few days at most. In their universe, I fought with thousands of different Dwarfs, helped construct thousands of different walls and halls, and engaged in thousands of battles, knowing very well that these efforts were truthfully futile. Nonetheless, I still felt an obligation to fight where I could, in part since I had a slight battlelust anyway, as I was intended as a machine of war.

But overall, I would say that no, the monsters did not come close to winning and destroying anything beyond the Thryllasian Plateau. If they came back, we at Parfuhmerie, and more than likely those at Psytronius, will be ready. However, I have received reports that, at last, their curse has come to an end, and there are now no more battles — the Dwarfs will live on peacefully, what few remain, and I only hope that they might remember my name as they reconstruct their lives.
I await for how Fate offers her decree in these matters.

So (I'm not declaring war), what's your military strength? Could a "normal nation" take you on?
My nation protects prosperity, but that doesn't mean I won't use force. I got TANKS and GUNS and AIRPLANES and anything else I need to protect prosperity. Think of me as america without all the oil greediness.
