The Steel Frontier(Sci-Fi)(Mech)(Open/OOC)

Postby Xichung » Thu Jan 31, 2019 3:02 pm

The grand new Frontier, space, mankind has developed warp drives making travel easier. Now with the sight of new planets for conquest, there is now a new prospect for the war industry to flourish. Clashing ideals and men in it for the money or the enjoyment of death. They all are coming together to decide who will hold the galaxy’s fate.

The tale so far: Earth has long ago died, same with the star that parented it. from its ashes, two great factions clash, each one at each other’s throat, the war is starting to become a stalemate. It’s soon starting to not matter who develops the better weapon or not, both of them started hiring mercenaries to do the fighting, simply cause they can fight without restrictions or rules. As blood spills and machines start taking their place. Robotic infantry capable of taking a hit and keep on ticking with only one true weakness a port on the back of the head from where they can be hacked. This flaw showed that they needed something more than machines or humans. They needed pilots and mechs and soon with this new mechanical unit the stalemate began to vanish one faction began pushing the other and vise versa, it became a war of attrition. This is where you step in, your a pilot of a mech of your own design, pilot are almost one-man armies capable of running along walls and jumping up to higher surfaces. The biggest strength of a pilot is the mech they control, a titan above man, these machines are capable to turn the tide of battle at any second.

Mechs

as all mechs are custom made, they still have most basic frames or classifications. when you post your mechs ill give you a classification. Mechs can be as tall as mountains or can be 8 feet tall. that being said the smaller you are the weaker the armor and the bigger you are the slower you are.

Goal: To create a religious Christian theocratic empire spanning the galaxy and to force all governments to acknowledge the superiority of religion over their own and to reinstate conservatism as the social norm across the known galaxy.
Background(optional): Founded by Father Angel Wester a century ago, the Messiah Institute started as a small sect in the world of Christianity. However, it grew from being a house church to a powerful religious organization with tens of millions of followers across the galaxy. With the Institute having the resources and manpower, it began settling in several words creating colonies that would mirror the Christian ideals. It were conservative bubbles in an increasingly liberal galaxy. Father Angel determined to return God in the hearts and minds of people spent his lifetime creating a religious empire. Now, with his grandson Elijah in-charge, the Institute is bent on returning the Christian principles that once held Earth together once again.

most minor factions are the mercinary groups, but if you play your card correctly they can become major.

The 505Th
Leader:The 6th

Faction name: The Coalition of Novo-Petersburg Mercenaries
Leader: Grand Marshals Viktor Maximovich and Maria Nikolayevna
Motavation: Protection and enrichment of Novo-Petersburg
Emblem:
Image

Alignment/Employers: As more of an informal fraternity/sorority they have no official employer, though a large number of their members have been hired by the AIP but that doesn't mean much as quite a few others are under RCMC employ and even some of their number can be found in the Messiah Institute or working for various other parties
Background: As Novo-Petersburg exports a lot of mercenaries the Coalition was formed as a fraternity and sorority for them to allow for the exchange of information, contracts, and as a community for them. The organization itself does not take contracts due to this and they have very few rules which are:

1. You will not take any action that would harm Novo-Petersburg
2. You are to send at least a small portion of your earnings back home for the homeworld's treasury
3. If you encounter a brother or sister on the opposing side battlefield you are to take every reasonable measure to avoid attacking each other or, at minimum, at least inform them of your presence if at all possible.
4.Should Novo-Petersburg come under threat everyone is to drop all current work as soon as possible and return home to the defense it and cooperate with the Grand Marshals.

Those rules are really the only thing the mercenaries have to abide by and more or less the organization is an informal one, most Novo-Petersburg mercenaries don't mention it even though most of them are part of it. Granted they do refer to any mercenary from their homeworld not part of the Coalition as an 'irregular'.

Notably though that despite their informality if the fourth rule was triggered they would be a formidable military force, while they do have mech pilots, and some rather notable ones at that, they are much more than that with members ranging from squads or even companies of soldiers of fortune, marines, commando teams, fighter pilots, and even captains with their own ships. It is no exaggeration that if they gathered together they would be their own military dedicated to the protection of their home. Or so they claim as they are tight lipped over how many are actually members and how many are either just invoking their name or simply share ideals with them. Not even the actual government of Novo-Petersburg knows how many of their mercenaries are members.

And here I was thinking of playing some Armored Core. So count me in, interest tag and I will get to work.

Here I go with my apps, if you think there are problematic elements, let me know I'll do my best to make changes needed so it's all good.

Mech name: Keroberos
Weight: 79.67 t
Height: 18.9 m
load capacity: 7
load out: Multi Lock-On System,
Comm Jammer
1x Beam Saber

2 × 17.5mm Twin Canons

2 × 14mm Twin Canons
Armor: Heavy
Appearance: Basically this maybe the color scheme would be different
Classification:

A-1743

Pilot name: Nutella Charon
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Description: 162 cm 53kg
Image:
Image

Personality: Perceived as cold and calculated. Generally very straightforward minded and blunt.
Backstory (min. of two paragraphs): Nutella Charon was born to sizable family on a colonized Pluto. Nutella was raised by the fist and the palm, meaning she was expected to behave, obey and fall in line or face discipline either from her father or mother whom kept the family with a strict disciplinary lifestyle. Her father and brothers worked in mining and harvesting resources from the planet and it's neighboring moons while her mother was an 'enforcer' and labor buster whom also eventually joined the RCMC until a combat injury forced her early retirement. Idolizing her mother most of all and feeling her family's honor had been disgraced by the injury by the enemy she enlisted and joined the RCMC herself to combat the rebels and bring the strict order and balance seen by the faction. Her training was split between combat training and mechanical maintenance of her mech though she largely still relies in the mechanics for major repair work. The name of her mech Keroberos is naturally inspired by the name of Pluto's moon Kerberos but the odd spelling and pronunciation comes from an early childhood memory of hers of mispronouncing the name with a childhood friend of hers. A memory she considers to be one of the few happy memories she has.
Faction (Optional): RCMC
Nationality: Plutonian
Skills: Mechanical knowledge, hand-to-hand combat, minor marksmanship knowledge.
Equipment: Flight suit, survival rations, survival knife and of course her mech.

Alright, you are accepted, but you need add your load out into the mech section. This is my fault for not already being there. Your mech is classified as destroyer

I had a few questions, some of it based off of the RP description. Or just suggestions honestly, I like this RP concept a lot after all.

Well my only questions outside of the RP description is actually
"Are we allowed multiple characters?"
"Are our mechs allowed melee weapons like blades and such?"
"By nationality do we just make up planets and such or what really can we do? Because that is the biggest hold back for me trying to figure that one out."

Guessing you mean "star" instead of "stare"?

Minor quibble but vanish not vanished.

So what exactly are the pilots then because this confuses me, normal but highly trained humans? A superhuman? Some genetic experiment? Because this is suggesting that pilots are far more capable physically than a regular human which would be pretty significant for any character's background. Just a request on my part.

Hope none of this causes offense of course.

Don’t worry this doesn’t offend me at all, it actually helps me a lot. Thank you for pointing out mistakes and I shall fix them.

Ok so yes you can have multiple characters as many as you can keep track of, yes to melee on mechs, and yes make one up or choose from the old earth nationality. (Japanese etc...)

Like I said thank for pointing out my flaws

So pilots are normal people who have gone through rigorous training and received enhancements. Those who become pilots are normally top of their class or are chosen based on their skills.

Here is one, I'll work on the sister later.

Mech name: Martyr
Weight: 15.468 tons
Height: 10 meters
load capacity: 3
Armor: Light
Load out: Shoulder mounted Gatling Gun, pair of heavy submachine guns, energy blade attached to the left arm, notably altered to contain more boosters and thrust.
Appearance:Basically these but as an off white and with the weapons mentioned in loadout:
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/armoredcore/images/6/63/Sample-efc23c1014b0d6fffddedf829f284655.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20121117020644
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/armoredcore/images/3/3f/Next_Orleans.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20170107075652
Classification: Interceptor
A-1743

Pilot name: Valerius Solomon, call sign "Resolution"
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Description (height, weight, hair color, etc.): 6'2 feet, 200 lbs, silver hair and brown eyes, extremely pale.
Image (optional): N/A at this time
Personality: He is overall a proud warrior and very polite and kind with a sense of honor, a bit bookish with a love of reading. In combat he is what some might call a daredevil and when facing a female pilot he adopts a near teasing tone.
Backstory: Born among the people on the frigid world of Novo-Petersburg, a planet colonized by the Russians so many years ago, as the older one of a pair of twins. His youth was relatively uneventful by the standards of his homeworld, he showed talent as a fighter pilot at a young age and thus was flying fighters by the age of 10 to help with deliveries or search and rescue operations, a fairly common thing on their cold planet as even children have to contribute somehow. Though he was soon tested along with his sister for mech piloting and, to the surprise of no one, they both showed good aptitude and received their own mechs with most of the parts built on their home planet. Since then they operate as mercenaries to enrich their home planet, it is only fair since they owe everything to their world. Often the two work together on the battlefield and has gained a reputation as the Siberian Twins for their battles together and their specialization in winter warfare. It is actually rare for them to be apart and often they are hired together as they offer more combined firepower. Plus they offer a discount if they are hired together anyway.

In combat he favors a lightning approach, hitting his opponent as fast and hard as he can before using his boosters to move away. Constantly being on the move as a hunter and taking shots at his opponents with the guns he has or charging in to attack his opponent with his blade before retreating. Despite his mech being fairly light he has learned to fight attrition warfare and win. This strategy is something he has refined over the years while working with his twin sister who covers him with her rifle.

Unlike his sister he views his contract with the AIP as more than a job and is fairly devoted to their mission.
Faction: Currently employed by the AIP
Nationality: Russian (Novo-Petersburg)
Skills: Besides mech piloting he is noted as having skills as a fighter pilot, fencer, and tactician as well as having basic knowledge of first aid.
Equipment: Combat knife, service pistol, a prayer rope, and winter survival gear, including a small heater, rations, a flare gun, medical kit, and a radio (winter gear contained in his mech).

Faction name: The Messiah Institute
Leader: Father Elijah Wester
Motivation: Religion, Christianity and Missionary work.
Emblem:

Okay, pilot/mech application. I have no idea how well the stuff here meshes with what you envision the world to be, so if there's anything which is dumb and wrong just yeet it at me and I'll do my best to modify it.

And I have no idea if the dimensions on the Nightswan are entirely right just yet, but they should give a good idea of about where it's at. Apologies for that.

Pilot Application

Name: Julia Lionhardt

Age: 19 legally, actual age unknown.

Gender: Female

Appearance

Image

Personality: Julia is distant until she isn't - she rarely allows herself to open up to people until they've flown together and she has a fair degree of trust for them. However, to the people she does open up to she is by warm, willing to laugh and fiercely protective and can often find herself attempting to mother veteran soldiers three times her age. At the same time, this can often overspill into arrogance, aggressiveness and straight-up recklessness once her blood is pumping. At the same time she has a potentially-crippling deference to authority - irrespective of its proven quality - along with an equally-obsessive fixation of the Corps' ingrained values; both a result of her upbringing with the orphanage. Speaking of the orphanage, Julia rarely ever has emotional distance with other Julias and always seeks them out to form an unofficial support network with if at all possible. Whether this behaviour is pathalogical or something else is currently unknown, but few of her superiors have tried to stop her yet.

Backstory: There are hundreds of Julia Lionhardts on Uriel. Every female housed and raised by the military orphanages - left on their steps, picked up off the streets or a jail cell or taken from parents deemed unfit - has that name, a part of the strict uniformity imposed on them from their first day onwards. For this version of Julia, that uniformity is all she's ever known. Her sisters for as long as her memories permit were the other Julias who dressed like her, spoke like her, thought like her. Her mothers and aunts were the instructors and matrons who lived with her, taught her, disciplined her when and where they considered it necessary.

It could have been a miserable existence, but she knew nothing else. It simply was the life she had and she lived it as best she could, searching for what beauty she could in the free time between drills and exercises and lessons on the absolute authority of the Supreme Commander. She dabbled in art, taking on extra duties and lessons to scrape together the money for paints and paper. Her early attempts were nothing short of atrocious, and she improved little over time, but the end product was never the point. For a handful of moments a day, she could snatch herself a moment of genuine self-expression.

When she reached eighteen, there was no question of what she would do. She simply didn't have the mental space to question her duties as a citizen - she signed up, just as every other Julia did. However, instead of being assigned to the Army or Navy proper as her peers were, this Julia found herself being trained and augmented to pilot a mech. She didn't question this decision, of course - she was barely aware that she could question it - and she took to her training with the zeal and determination she knew was expected of a Julia.

It wasn't long before she was through with basic training and assigned to a small skirmishing fleet with a squadron of her fellows in order to give them a taste of combat before they were thrust into the frontlines. Despite lacking real combat experience Julia managed to make a name for herself over the course of a three-month campaign, racking up seven confirmed kills before the Corps was forced to withdraw by the arrival of enemy reinforcements. As one of the few highlights of the campaign, Julia's exploits were fed into the propaganda machine and she soon became a minor celebrity amongst other Julias - as a role model and a shining beacon of what they could aspire to in their duties. Even still, the failure of the campaign smarts with her as she is redeployed and she spends as much of her free time riding the simulators as she does working on her art.

Faction: RCMC

Nationality: Urian

Skills: Julia is a highly talented mech pilot, capable of reacting rapidly to changing situations and improvising solutions where necessary - though she very much lacks the wealth of experience a genuine veteran can call upon which can often lead to her acting rashly and without due caution. From her years at the orphanage, she has a detailed knowledge of small arms operation and maintenance, first aid, and basic hand-to-hand combat, and her artwork is almost tolerable to look at after years of practice.

Equipment: A small kinetic-round pistol as a holdout, her flight suit, a survival knife, various painting supplies and pieces of art and a small, unadorned metal bracelet given to each Julia when they leave their orphanage.

P-1894

Mech Application

Name: Nightswan

Weight: 65 tonnes

Height: 7.5m

Load Capacity: 3

Armour: Light, though more intended to deflect and disperse energy blasts, explosions and sensor pings than shrapnel, kinetic weaponry or melee weapons.

Loadout: Variable. Two forearm-integrated grappling hooks are built into the Nightswan's frame for manoeuvring and combat utility, as well as a pair of light machine guns for anti-missile purposes or to damage exposed systems and thrust mufflers are built into its manoeuvring jets and main drive to help hide it. Add-on equipment is generally a pair of shoulder-mounted ECM pods, a vibroblade, a light beam rifle and a wrist rotor for basic defence though different loadouts can be used for specialist missions. Finally, the Nightswan has hard points which can be affixed to missile pods or individual larger missiles, additional inert or reactive armour, more intensive stealth systems, large-bore weapons or flight boosters. However, with the exception of the flight booster, these severely compromise the suit's ability to manoeuvre, and the flight booster prevents the use of most stealth aspects and weaponry.

i love what you did with the backstory, it is indeed fitting for the RCMC, your mech is classified as a light attack, with maybe a change in equipment it can be classified as interceptor.
