The lone B-11 Condor heavy strategic bomber had just entered the airspace in Eastern Khataiy. It dropped from its cruising speed of Mach 1.05 to subsonic speeds. The bomber had taken a non-direct route from its base in the Arabian Sea. Instead of going across the desert the bomber flew up the Red Sea into the Mediterranean, it entered Syria near Latakia and preformed a turn near Aleppo heading towards Khataiy.

The bomber’s stealth capabilities prevented it from being detected however the pilots knew that once they opened the bomb bay doors that it wouldn’t be long before they are detected. Once the targets had been identified the bay doors where opened exposing the bombs inside and the aircraft itself. The bombs were immediately released; 10 anti personnel CBUs and 15 guided bombs where dropped on Rayhaniya with the Abu Khalil Prison being targeted by three guided bombs.

Knowing that they had probably been detected the pilots immediately closed the bomb bay doors once the deadly cargo had been dropped. Once the doors where closed the aircraft rocketed towards the Mediterranean getting up to Mach 1.2, soon it would be out of the range of Khataiy’s anti-air weapons.

After Ahrar al-Sham raided the Abu Khalil prison the fighting between HTS and the Free Syrian Army was dying down with HTS falling back towards the border but the airstrikes from Transwell and Thermodolia inflamed a bad situation for the civilians caught in the cross-fire, the strikes from Thermdolia caused multiple casualties to civilians living near the Abu Khalil prison as many as 23 were killed while only 7 FSA fighters were killed at the prison as it had been vacated of its prisoners, as for the strikes from Transwell no civilians were killed however 10 ISIS fighters were killed as a result of the airstrike as were several vehicles and a weapons storing house the explosion was fairly large, the explosion could be heard in Rayhaniya and seen from its outskirts.

Bomb alarms went off as Transwell's aircraft were detected in the coastal city of Iskanderun, people began seeking shelter in the basements of their apartments or anywhere were cover was available and the national emergency channel came on, on televisions and radios nationwide, though the targets were in Rayhaniya no chances were being taken, the army in the capital was also mobilized several trucks with ZU-23s mounted in the hull were also deployed to fire into the air while Khataiy's more advanced S-300 missiles and S-125 Nevas were put on alert as well firing surface-to-air missiles at the aircraft above as they flew towards Rayhaniya and back out.

Alert radios in the air squadron were blaring loudly. In response to the successful strike against a suspected ISIS camp, the Khataiyi army decided to fire surface-to-air missiles at the Transwelli Lugmag strike team. The fighter jets engaged in sharp manoeuvres, successfully shaking a few missiles off their tail. However this did not fully clear the aircraft from danger, a missile was still locked onto one of the jets. The pilot tried deploying chaff and flares to no avail. Realising the scope of the situation, the pilot ejected from his aircraft seconds before it was struck by the missile and sent spiraling downwards into the Mediterranean Sea. The other aircraft managed to outrun the Khataiyi missiles and make it successfully back to their clandestine air-base. This lone pilot wasn't so lucky. He was rapidly plummeting towards hostile Khataiyi territory, the city of Iskanderun to be particular. The pilot was armed with a Transwelli variant of the meagre Sa vz.23 sub-machine gun, one magazine loaded and another one strapped in his boot to spare, alongside a combat knife.

The pilot collided with the ground in a controlled manner, rolling into a crouched position. He scanned the area with his weapon, the coast was clear. He immediately removed his parachute, flight mask, and his harness and ran towards a building. The pilot couldn't understand a word of the Arabic script displayed in an overhead sign, so he kicked the door in. Luckily for him, the building was unoccupied. He set to barricade the broken door, propping a large filing cabinet against it. His priority was to survive without capture in Khataiy long enough to be rescued by a Kommandokorps contingent. He radioed for help, but later discovered it was out of reach for any possible communications, and damaged from the landing. It was now up to him to evade capture, and to return back to his land of Transwell.

LUGMAG JET SHOT DOWN OVER EASTERN KHATAIY

KHATAIY - A Lugmag fighter jet has been shot down in Eastern Khataiy after returning from a successful military strike against Islamic State targets in Rayhaniya, Khataiy. The Khataiyi military fired multiple missiles at a larger Lugmag squadron, but this was the only successful hit Khataiy scored. The aircraft was captured going down in a ball of fire as the pilot successfully managed to eject himself from his downed aircraft. His current whereabouts or fate is unknown.

President Arthur Fourie has yet to speak about the incident, but Minister of Defence Christiaan Hertzog issued a statement, calling it a "gross attack" against the Transwelli military, he also stated that "Transwelli Lugmag in the area have no orders to directly attack Khataiy, only the Islamic State and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham militants operating in the area. It is now clear that the Khataiyi government stands with the barbaric and despicable terror groups, and a revising of the Transwelli strategy is now in order." It is now highly likely that the Lugmag squadrons operating over Khataiy will now seek to neutralise Khataiyi army elements operating in conflict with their mission. Hertzog also added "If Khataiy actively seeks to capture our M.I.A. pilot without process to return him to Transwell, we will be forced to undertake severe military actions to ensure his safety." Hertzog refused to answer any questions of the press.

The downing of the aircraft could potentially provoke more tensions in the volatile situation in Khataiy. Already in Transwell, protests have erupted against the rash decisions of Khataiy, with protesters holding placards demanding that President Omar Khairallah step down from office, demonstrating outside of the Khataiyi embassy in Lydbury. With HTS on the retreat one of the last and perhaps most significant HTS presence in the city, the Saad Ibn Abi Waqqas Mosque named for the companion of Muhammad that played a major role in defeating the Persians at Qadisiya and was one of the first to embrace Islam, the mosque was opened in 1987 with funding from at the time Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and the Mosque bears a marker on the outside saying "In the name of Allah the most Gracious the most Merciful, a gift from your brother in religion and faith, President Saddam Hussein Abdul Majid al-Tikriti to our brothers in Khataiy, may Allah vanquish the Persians by our hands as the companions Saad Ibn Abi Waqqas, Muthanna Ibn Harith and Qaqa Ibn Amr had at Qadisiyia."

When HTS moved into Rayhaniya last year the Mosque was taken under their control and became a major source of influence for HTS in eastern Khataiy recruiting locals to go to Syria, the Mosque also gave aid to Syrian refugees and locals alike offering free food, religious classes and so on. With the rebels now removing HTS from the Mosque these things can now be down by the rebels turning the tide of influence in the area. As HTS fighters holding the Mosque surrendered without a fight NLF media men on the ground filmed the exchange, a NLF fighter from Ahrar al-Sham spoke to the camera, "By the glory of Allah we have freed the mosque from the corruption of Hayat and we will begin work to restore services and help the people of Rayhaniya just as we will support the people of Syria, Rayhaniya is an example of what our liberation will look like in Syria when we free Manbij, Hasakah and Tell Abyad from the PKK and when we return to Aleppo to free it from Bashar."

"About the recent strikes carried out by Transwell, I ask them an honest question, in your supposed counter-terror operation, how many terrorist attacks in your country have been carried out by any faction in Khataiy? The answer is zero, this is because we have the situation under control and well handled, what these trigger happy bureaucrats in Tanswell do not realize is that our country is delicate and we maintain a very careful order here and that is why we are among the most stable countries in the region, but perhaps they do not want a stable Arab country. Foreign Fighters Increasingly Returning Home

After years of fighting in Syria, Iraq, and Khataiy, intelligence officers at the VIAD have confirmed that ISIS-affiliated operatives from Daqistan, Beyzaghlik, and Tartashia attempted to migrate back to Varenskjyr. Of particular note was the arrest of Ibrahim Rûm, or Abu Murad al-Turki per his kunya, the mastermind of the Svreni Massacre of 2003 and the Sirya-Obolost Bombing in 2006, where 74 individuals were killed and 215 were injured. After fleeing VIAD authorities back in 2015, Ibrahim Rûm and several companions fled to Syria via the Osmanli Empire and the Republic of Turkey. Intelligence reports reveal that after continued clashes with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and continued losses against YPG and SAA operations, Ibrahim Rûm and three others attempted to rendezvous with members of the Harakat Jayash al-Islam (HJI) organization in north Nevetsia. Border operatives, with cooperation from the OSIS, were able to detain the terrorists before reaching Nevetsia.

Ibrahim Rûm gained prominence during the Ingushia Civil War, when Yanubian Regional Forces clashed with militias made up of the local Ingushian minority. Ingushia, a majority Muslim subterritory in the Federated Republic of Yanubia, attempted to separate from Yanubia while Yanubian forces were still engaged with the Varenskjyrian Red Army. The Kominique-e-Muhammad, a leading Ingushian militia, was led by Selim Burzokhallah, and espoused a radical pan-Islamic ideology that sought to create an Islamist republic in Uzbeyliki. Ibrahim Rûm, age 16, was a recruit with little education and only a cursory understanding of Islamic jurisprudence. By age 20, Ibrahim Rûm was a seasoned commander, and had fought the Yanubian Regional Forces back at several key battles. He is most known for the Svreni Massacre of 2003, where hundreds of Muslims adhering to the Maliki madhab were executed by Ibrahim Rûm and his men. From then, till 2015, Ibrahim Rûm led his forces on low-level raids against Yanubian Regional Forces and Varenskjyrian Federal Troops.

Current reports by major western think tanks estimate that foreign fighters for ISIS originating from Varenskjyr number in the hundreds, with most of them originating from Nevetsia, Daqistan, and Beyzaghlik. As ISIS continues to lose its territorial holdings, many analysts have begun to raise concerns that Varnskyjr might have to deal with a resurgent Islamist threat. Such reports come at a time of heavy fighting between Varenskjyrian Armed Forces and several extremist insurgencies, chief of which include the Daqistani Islamic Emirate, Harakat Jayash al-Islam, and Jayash Tharwar al-Kalkenistan (JKT). Last night, raids against JTK insurgents resulted in three towns returning to Federal control. The insurgency against JTK has lasted 14 years to this date.

Many insurgents still in East Khataiy are wanted by Varenskjyr Federal Court of Justices for crimes against humanity, ethnic genocide, and sectarian violence. While Ibrahim Rûm's arrest will provide some semblance of justice, there has been concerns raised by external voices. By law, Varenskjyr has denounced those who have pledged allegiance to any recognized terrorist organization, including ISIS, HTS, and the Popular Mobilization Units of Iraq (PMU). Of particular note has been the stripping of citizenship. With the arrest of Ibrahim Rûm, questions as to the legitimacy of any court ruling and jurisdiction on a non-citizen may come to play. For now, security forces and VIAD operatives continue to monitor the border as more foreign fighters attempt to make their way back to Varenskyjr.

TNS Farda a Templar-class Destroyer lazily cruised along just outside of Israeli waters. It’s purpose did not involve the ship itself but what it carried. Inside the hanger bay of the destroyer sat a UF-05 Sniper, a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV), it’s mission was in Eastern Khataiy.

The sailors rolled the craft out of the hangar and prepared it for launch. As apart of the preparations they installed four AGM-114 air to ground missiles. After the preparations where complete the craft launched from the deck of the ship. It’s course would put it over Israel and Syria before entering Khataiy.

As the drone got closer to Rayhaniya it began to target its mission objective, Saad Ibn Abi Waqqas Mosque. With the news that the National Liberation Front had taken the mosque from HTS the Thermodolian government was adamant that it be destroyed to hamper NLF influence in the area.

Once the craft was within the predetermined range it let loose two AGM-114 Hellfire Missiles towards the mosque. The missiles locked on to their target with precision, the Thermodolian government hoped this would alleviate worries of collateral damage. After the missiles where on there way the drone began to turn back towards Syrian airspace. It wasn’t as fast as the previous bomber but it was small and hopefully this made it harder to track.

Recent reports of recent buildup on IS forces should be taken seriously. If need be, Operations Director Khazel Gurulkhalki has sent the following coordinates to use as relocation-readiness positions: 33.1 - 90.22, 33.1 - 97.88, 42.09 - 65.93. Additional threats by Thermodolian air battery should also be kept in mind. With diplomatic relations between Thermodolia and Varenskjyr warm, losses incurred by battery spillover be covered.

Of utmost importance right now is to monitor Khuvash Bortuçal. Analysts, with the aid of local corroborators, have high suspicion that once fighting in the Marashidah pocket escalates further, Khuvash will flee towards al-Sukkariyah. From there, he will flee towards al-Sukhnah. It is confirmed that Khuvash has a Turkish passport and will attempt to find refuge there after successfully fleeing. One Kamov Ka-50 is fitted and ready for use in Akçakale. Should confirmation of Khuvash's escape be made, operatives from Station Istoya will attempt to covertly capture Khuvash Bortuçal. Tactical support and coordination from alla field offices is critical here.

Lastly, your report on growing numbers of Varenskjyrians joining the ranks of the HTS and TFSA are interesting, but not unexpected. Unconfirmed reports of Uighur forces fighting in HTS highlight a furthering trend of disillusionment with IS. Continue monitoring this growth. As of right now, analysis on exit passes from Varenskjyr show no significant militant. High command would be interested in analyzing potential demographic shifts in recruitment as opposed to what was seen in 2014. Continue monitoring the situation, and good fortunes comrade.

While people suffered, there were always those willing to profit off of it.

One Lethen viking, a Sicilian-Lethen aristocrat's son named Ciro Richthaufen, stood at the helm of one of his speedy attack crafts. Dressed in modern military equipment and uniform ready for desert combat, he anticipated his upcoming battle with an eager trigger-finger upon his SCAR-H which he held slung over his shoulder. He was not particularly bothered by what damage the actions his people could cause, especially when his victims were as willing as he was to do it to themselves. He knew he probably would not face ISIS any as he would only strike coast, though he prayed anyways that he would be able to expand his collection of victories in such a way regardless.

For several years, Khuvash Bortuçal acted as an ISIS commando, leading squads in major offensives against SDF and HTS forces. Recent losses in IS territory has prompted the mass fleeing of hundreds of foreign fighters. After the latest rounds of fighting in the last pockets of IS territory, Khuvash Bortuçal and three others were captured. VIAD operatives, via helicopter, intercepted the fleeing members as they attempted to make their way north towards the Turkish border. With cooperation from Khataiy intelligence units, VIAD analysis was able to pinpoint the locations of these individuals before they were able to make much ground. A fire fight broke out and one VIAD operative was wounded. Word has not been given as to the status of the wounded individual.

Off the Israeli Coast
Dusk

TNS Farda a Templar-class Destroyer lazily cruised along just outside of Israeli waters. It’s purpose did not involve the ship itself but what it carried. Inside the hanger bay of the destroyer sat a UF-05 Sniper, a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV), it’s mission was in Eastern Khataiy.

The sailors rolled the craft out of the hangar and prepared it for launch. As apart of the preparations they installed four AGM-114 air to ground missiles. After the preparations where complete the craft launched from the deck of the ship. It’s course would put it over Israel and Syria before entering Khataiy.

Rayhaniya, Khataiy
Middle of the Night

As the drone got closer to Rayhaniya it began to target its mission objective, Saad Ibn Abi Waqqas Mosque. With the news that the National Liberation Front had taken the mosque from HTS the Thermodolian government was adamant that it be destroyed to hamper NLF influence in the area.

Once the craft was within the predetermined range it let loose two AGM-114 Hellfire Missiles towards the mosque. The missiles locked on to their target with precision, the Thermodolian government hoped this would alleviate worries of collateral damage. After the missiles where on there way the drone began to turn back towards Syrian airspace. It wasn’t as fast as the previous bomber but it was small and hopefully this made it harder to track.

North of Libya
Ciro was interrupted from his seagazing by a hand wrapping around his. He turned to see one of his subordinates, a pretty girl he intended to find a way to run off and elope with. She was physically strong, but still quite womanly, and her messy, poofy bob of hair accentuated her face that was worn out by yet not made any less beautiful by war. A great partner for him and an ideal mate to bear his children. She was his subordinate, though, as he was the captain of this FAC, so they had duties and responsibilities. Of course, she kindly accepted working as a bit of a messenger so he didn't have to hang around the operator all day, so, while he was glad to see her, he knew there was something else to it.

"(Hey.)" he mumbled, his eyes slowly drifting off the sea to find that she had begun staring off into the horizon herself. They had essentially traded places.

"(Hey. Just telling you we're changing targets. Not too far, though.)" she replied.

It came to Viking attention that ISIS had recently received a bit of a setback. The Vikings were notified to be careful, as their target's distraction was quite gone. It was too late to turn back now, for they were almost by Greece at this point. They carried 2700 soldiers, hundreds of guns, missiles. They were prepared and they needed to go even if their enemy could put up a bit of a fight. It would be cowardly, otherwise. Cowardice was a great dishonor in Lethen culture, and Ciro was not subordinate to any coward.

The fleet of 100 ships drew nearer to their destination, approximately halfway. Ninety of the ships were long-range, larger variants of fast-assault crafts -- each armed with a little naval gun and a small anti-ship missile launcher, plus a small surface-to-air missile system -- and the remaining ten were fast-attack craft or missile boats. These were armed each with a single 76 mm gun, four anti-ship missile launchers, a single RAM launcher system, and a couple machine guns for extra measure. They could also lay mines.

Each of the fast-assault crafts carried 30 naval infantry, meaning that the vikings were hauling 2,700 men towards their destination. These viking soldiers were armed to the teeth, experienced, and indomitably ferocious. They were eager to find some loot, and a small minority of them were quite eager to take concubines...
