So, why is everyone and their mother sending task forces over a government crackdown? A bit heavy handed if you ask me.

Most likely because it's viewed as a humanitarian crisis that will only get worse without intervention. Which from a certain point of view could very well be the case. I know that the Ghantish government would view it that way, though the manner in which it is addressed could be more...diplomatic than what we're seeing now.

The point is, humanitarian crisis on it's own is not something that is likely to cause an international conflict. Case in point - no one declared war on China for what the party did on Tianamen square, and no one declared war on People's Republic of Poland when our government was slaughtering em masse in 1956, 1964, 1970, 1974 and 1981 (almost each of those incidents, especially 1956 & 1970, seen use of live fire against protesters - 1970 pacification of the coast ended with 42 dead, over 1000 wounded and 3000 arrests).

Organizing an military intervention, especially against a major regional power with a network of alliances, costs and there has to be something your government sees it will get in return should it be done. This is why Maki Kojiro sees all military movements as prelude for the next invasion of New Edom purpose of which will be not to promote rights of certain minorities, but rather exploiting an internal crisis in order to colonize Edom and steal it's oil (considering that, being a hardline adherent to realist foreign policy, Maki Kojiro simply can't understand why anyone would even bother with intervening for an idea).

Yes - there will be a cost to war against Edom, even assuming that the invading force wins.

I like this alot, the Ruvian ambassador has already indicated a strong desire to coordinate with other like minded embassies to get as many people out of the country who want to leave as possible
