Which reminds me: if things do go pear-shaped--IC we maintain a pipeline for the peaceful emigration of LGBT to the Confederation--who would be in the best position to request that corpsmen be sent out to assist in the evacuation? I'd assume the Ambassador, but I'd rather be sure.

To be frank, US non-combatant evacuation missions do predict that, usually, civilian fleet will be tasked with it. You can simply bring a couple of state department's 747s to carry out the deed.

New Edom does not suffer from extreme breakdown of law and order, and while the government is cracking down on a protest, the chaos is limited to certain sections of the capital. There are no long term dangers to stability of the Edomite state, neither does the chaos likely to last for long...

I was already planning that. The task force was in the event that total order breaks down and airports are inaccessible. If they are and people are allowed to leave, then I was planning to have a private airline contracted to provide pickup for embassy staff and refugees.

In fact the evacuation of the US embassy in Vietnam started out as being a use of private airlines and Air Force aircraft stationed at Bin Hoa, as well as a naval evacuation from private ships in Saigon. But since the fall happened so quickly, and the US ambassador was incompetent as heck, Bin Hoa fell before the could effectively evacuate using private airlines and aircraft, so the US embassy staff had to go with plan C, get the USS midway to conduct the evacuation by helicopter.

Almurta's military is a mixture of old and new, which each branch varying in how obsessed they are with new and shiny things. At the furthest extreme we have the Incorporated States Air Force, which shivers at the very idea of being made to use something not propelled by at least a basic jet turbine. Then we have the Marine Corps at the other end, whose history of being given Army and Navy hand-me-downs has lent itself to a culture of if it ain't broke, don't fix it in a branch of service that is almost always the last to stop using a particular item of equipment, so long as it works.

Just so good ole terrorism. It’s a reaction to the harsh crackdown, New Edom green lit it. You can still use diplomacy and actually a diplomatic angle would be asking New Edom to refrain from further crackdowns.

I'm at a standstill until New Edom and I can sort out the "invasion" of his sovereign soil by my embassy guards. I've been reading over what-ifs and embassy laws/guidelines so it will be interesting to see how this little section gets resolved.

Shh. We all know that on NS, evacuation means "occupation, "peacekeeping" means "invasion" and "liberation" means "colonization". I may not be able to post till Friday, but expect a massive response of the Empire of Greater Nifon the moment Nifonese sensors pick those up.

Correct - I mean in terms of what New Edom wants out of this roleplay. Just so that this doesn't suddenly devolve into an all-out war scenario and those that want to focus on more diplomacy and/or character-based roleplay get left in the lerch.

Whether war crimes are carried out or not is up to the nation in question. However, bare in mind that the site has a PG-13 rule, and that applies to roleplay as well.

Hey everyone. Generally everybody is playing by the rules which is fine. I'm feeling very under the weather today so a little bit of a breather is in order till tomorrow.

The day is gonna end with my next post, and then we will be dealing with the aftermath.

Okay. I would like to point out that a major terror attack won't really alter a lot in terms of military affairs, except giving the Nifonese more ammunition for the planned information warfare campaign.

Dealing with a terror attack is a responsibility of Edomite state, and as such I hardly doubt that anything more will come out of it.

As the history had proven, terrorism had been a perfect tool of gaining attention. During the early cold war, most of Europe had no idea about Palestine; and had it not been PLO kidnapping planes, Palestine would have remained among such obscure cases like Nagorno Karabakh or South Ossetia.

Nations which oppose Edom's crackdown on LGBT can simply say that the attack was a retaliation for use of force on behalf of Edomite government, and portray the Homofront problem as something that Edomite government had itself created.
