Repeal the Commendation of The Protectorate of Lyras

Postby The Common Heritage » Tue Jan 08, 2019 7:30 pm

Esteemed World Assembly Delegates,
Please support me in calling on the Securyty Council to repeal their commendation of the Protectorate of Lyras by voting to approve my Security Council Proposal:
page=UN_view_proposal/id=the_common_heritage_1546999757
Lyras has deprived its citizens of their most basic rights and freedoms, all in the name of the military-industrial complex; they have handed out cruel and unusual punishments without a fair trial, tax their citizens at a deplorable rate, depriving of them of their property; and they allocate 0% of their GDP to environmental protections and the welfare of their citizens- whom, I might mention, they call “Human Resources”.
We must stand strong in the defense of civil rights and political freedoms for people of all stripes.
Please join me in this defense!

Moved to SC forum.

Security Council Proposal
ID: the_common_heritage_1546999757

Repeal: “Commend Lyras”

A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal

Resolution: SC#274

Proposed by: The Common Heritage

Security Council Resolution #274 “Commend Lyras” shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Regarding Security Council Resolution #274:
The Protectorate Of Lyras ranks deplorably in the civil rights and political freedom of its citizens, going so far as to classify them as “Human Resources”. The corrupt government allocated 0% of its GDP to Environmental protections, a policy that stands directly in objection to the World Assembly’s own soon-to-be-passed resolution, “Preventing Groundwater Contamination”. Lyras has displayed some of the harshest authoritarian tendencies at this juncture in NationStates history; the average income tax rate 96.8%, cruel and unusual punishments are handed out to political dissidents on a whim, and citizens find it difficult to live through a day without breaking the law.
Therefore,
The Federal Republic of The Common Heritage proposes a full repeal of Security Council resolution #274 ”Commend Lyras”, provided a vote by the General Assembly in this regard.

Please refer to the rules for Security Council proposals. I’ve marked this illegal for violating rules 2(d), 3, and 4(d).

NS stats (i.e. political freedom, economic freedom, civil rights etc.) don't normally factor into roleplay or gameplay, and most players disregard these stats entirely whenever they vote on WA resolutions. I would be ICly and OOCly against this if it were even legal to begin with.

Yeah, no: It’s not a legal proposal, Ransium and Wrapper clarified it as such because it violates rules Rule 2(d), 3, and 4(d).

Going off of what has already been said, repeals generally focus on the aspects of the resolution they seek to strike out by discrediting the claims that warranted such proposal being passed in the first place. Speaking as the author of SC#274, I see none of that here.

I can confirm everything that Kostrorleauny has said above, both as a moderator, and as a player.
