OOC Thread for LGBT Protestors Attacked by Government Forces

NO NEW PLAYERS MAY JOIN. This thread will be used for OOC inquiries and any discussions necessary to the thread. I may also need reminding for responses because people are posting very quickly. I will try to respond to everyone who posts unless there are general responses that everyone can take to be encouragement for them to keep posting.

Please write good posts in response to this. No FT, no magic, no superheros. Diplomacy, espionage, political responses, journalists, tourists and gradual moves towards military response with proper stages of development are acceptable. This thread may also contain mature subject matter.

This image may have additional descriptions but this is the overall look I'm going for, as well as the area of government district and embassy row.

For any military movements in my thread, I prefer using this protocol.

1. Government comes to a decision to use military force

2. Forces are prepared and organized

3. Embarkation

4. Movement (at least two posts if not in region)

5. Arrival (arrival in region if out of region)

6.deployment/encounter

However there is also an element of government process involved too. Governments tend not to rush to war, even where borders are disputed, because of the following reasons.

1. Wars are expensive. Fuel, ammunition, equipment, are very expensive.

2. Well trained and experienced personnel don't grow on trees.

3. Unkess your nation is a crazed dictatorship, most governments have some kind of process before deciding on a military option.

4. Wars have uncertain outcomes. History shows that the odds are not necessarily with the obvious victor

5. There are often many options that are less expensive and risky than war

For my part I'm looking to tell a very character-focused story. As I've already established in my most recent post, the Embassy of the Imperium Antiquum - led by the young and determined Legatus Lucilia Crassa and her small group of overwhelmed but resolute senior staff - has gotten the consent of the Edomite Foreign Minister to process all requests for asylum in a timely manner, on the discreet understanding that they will hand over any members of Homofront or other wanted criminals who show up on their radar.

In my next post the Embassy will be making a public statement to explain this, likely backed up from another official statement from the Ministry of Foreign and Imperial Affairs. It should go without saying that the finer details of the agreement are known only to the Kylarnatian's and Edomite's, so until that changes it is Secret In-Character (SIC) and unbeknown to everyone else.

I've talked this out with New Edom, and I'm planning on telling a very character-driven story, of Legatus Crassa and her senior staff trying their best to deal with the situation as it develops and save as many lives as possible, while at the same time keeping an open dialogue in the hopes of seeing change in the long-run. I'll also be occasionally be writing news coverage from a variety of different news sources, and posting reactions from the Imperium Antiquum's government and people. I'd also be happy for others to post their reactions (either in the form of a press story or otherwise) to the Embassy's activity once it becomes public.

If anyone has any questions or any ideas they want to share in regards to my involvement, I'm all ears.

My intention, so far, is portraying activities of Nifon's diplomacy. Needless to say, I would prefer to avoid large scale conflicts in this thread.

I will write a post from Kojiro's perspective later on, in which I will portray what the ruler of Nifon intends to achieve, and how he intends to do this. Maki Kojiro is especially interested in making himself look like a mediator and peacemaker.

SACTO ENCHANCED FORWARD PRESENCE FORCE will also play a major role as a tool of Nifonese diplomacy.

I.S.A. involvement will initially revolve around our embassy in Fineberg accepting as many refugees as possible. One aspect of Almurtan embassies here which will play into it is we routinely stock emergency supplies at diplomatic missions in what we see as less civilized places.

It is also likely a warship will be deployed to international waters nearby to provide support in the form of supplies and transportation.

I'm not yet certain what exactly I will be focusing on in this RP, however, I would like to develop how Imperial diplomacy works and how the Foreign Office operates. Along with how the Government and the Crown interact. Plus, I do love a little character building.

It's likely that no matter which way the Imperial Government bends (hah hey!), Vionna-Frankenlisch will likely experience some kind of domestic unrest or attack which may be of interest.

As per my post in the in-character thread, the Realm of Yohannes' in-character motivation is to just watch things for now, but also making sure that it will side with New Edom if things go south (for commercial self interest, re: historical trade). There are too many dangerous (in-character) players here: the Empire of Greater Nifon, New Carloso, Arab State of Khataiy, etc. for Yohannes to risk offending New Edom (and jeopardising our trade with New Edom, Greater Nifon, investment in Khataiy, etc.) and its powerful SACTO allies

For Navia Imperiala, LGBT protesters are usually shutdown by people on loud speakers with fact and logic - if they are arguing for a change that is simply unrealistic/bad. We do not persecute based on "Sexuality"

Japan itself will be (for the first time in a good long while) not trying to advance it's own agenda, instead opting to step in where needed in support of New Edom whenever the Japanese Shogunate deems necessary, though for the foreseeable future most posts may be restricted to the Japanese Embassy or, the Imperial Palace in Kyoto as well as possibly the IMGHQ in Kyoto. Just essentially remaining back though offering support to the government with either Kempeitai units or the Imperial Royal Guard

That's actually a good question, though for now Almurta is just going to be acting to protect Almurtan Citizens and asylum seekers.

If things go south, there might be a shutdown of the embassy and a Fall of Saigon style evacuation of the embassy. Worst case scenario, naval ships returning from an event in Qaidi would be deployed as a means for evacuation should airports be closed off.

Additionally, Mediama would also make contact with nations that openly disprove of New Edom’s actions, particularly with Ru- and consider a plan with them.

Is it acceptable for the Havenic embassy to be one taking in refugees (as I can only imagine a nation which will grant citizenship to literally everyone would be a popular destination for such)? I totally understand if you think that things have moved on too far for that though.

I don't know if it would be popular, given how weird your nation is, but some might try sure.

I think that's a good idea. I have posted some responses to some as well as a general idea of what is going on on the streets in general.

I don't know if it would be popular, given how weird your nation is, but some might try sure.

I mean...given how extreme homofront are, a nation that lacks certain things (like clearly defined consent laws, weapons licensing and general normality) should attract a lot of the more criminal types.
