Love Letters - Batteries Not Included

Long-time followers and tourists of Valentine Z will be familiar with our only source of corporal punishment - The Pacifier. We will first talk about the device as follows:

Despite our cheerful, happy and all-round-love image, we have to admit (and is rather ashamed) that we still have a torture device reserved for... scum of the Earth. We call it "The Pacifier".
The device is similar to an electric chair, but labeled with obvious warnings and clarifications that it will NOT kill a person. It does not physically damage the body, but rather, it shoots low-voltage electricity to the user's brain, which in turn fires all the nerves in his body. The result? Complete, total, immobile sensation of pain all over. The default duration can vary, depending on the damage done on the victim by the offender.

The use of the device is strictly regulated, there's only one built, and only General Valentijn or Surveillant Clarissa are allowed to flip the switch. Reserved (but not exhaustive) to:

- Rapists: 20 - 80 seconds. Only if convicted with evidence. False accusations will result in a hefty fine (at least $ 60.000 Valentian Credits, or USD 120.000) for the accuser.
- Tormentors: 8 - 20 seconds. Ironic that a tormentor is being tortured, no?
- Homicide: 10 - 30 seconds.
- Animal Abuse: Flat 200 seconds, nothing less. No, that's not an extra zero. Doubled if the abused animal is a cat.
- Terrorism: 10 - 30 seconds. Lower limit is due to the fact that some are not heavily radicalized.
- Honor Killing: 20 - 30 seconds. Quadrupled (4x) if the victim is raped or tormented along the way.
- Matricide: 20 - 60 seconds. Unless you can prove that your mother is trying to kill you first.
- Patricide: 20 - 60 seconds. Unless you can prove that your father is trying to kill you first.
- Pedophilia: 8 - 80 seconds. Only if the person is found guilty of raping the underaged, unwanted physical contact, or possessing pornography of the victim.
- Slavery: 3 seconds, times the number of slaves you own. Capped at 300 seconds.

In essence, it was meant to be a torturing device itself, while keeping the criminal/offender intact and without any physical injuries. However, upon further review, Valentijn and his cabinet has unanimously voted 60 out of 60 to decommission the device. This was saw as a rather unsurprising turn of events, given that the Valentians are not exactly known for their torture methods, and we certainly are not going to start anytime soon.

This will be a huge step-up to progress, and removing the system that relies on retribution and punishment rather than a rehabilitation. Please bear in mind that this is NOT because we find these crimes to be light; it still takes a serious tone as ever, but we will simply work on the rehabilitation system and therapies to bring these offenders back into a good light, while still helping out the victims in need.

Following the new legislation, no one in Valentine Z is to be subjected to this torture device, even if there is no physical harm done (by the machine). To echo Valentijn’s statements, this is not to state that the crimes stated above are trivial, but rather a step up to treat both the victims and the offenders in their times of needs. We may have an extremely anti- policy for rapists, pedophiles, and terrorists, but at the same time, if they can be brought back into the light and be brought up into an uprising citizen instead of being tortured to no end, this is a better approach.

With that, I would like to remind that Valentine Z may have very low crime rates, but it is not “No Crime.” Anyone found guilty of rape, pedophilia, animal abuse, slavery, or any other heinous and serious crimes will be arrested and brought into prison for psychological treatment. Remember: The Methods to deal with the crimes have changed, BUT we still stand firm against these acts.

Valentine Z and its autonomous nations, as well as Vidunderlige Nye Verden, has declared a STATE OF EMERGENCY following Imperial Octavia's statement.

We are to believe that they meant harm to even the most innocent Valentian, including children, mothers, innocent animals, and for this we shall not stand!

If any of their troops or civilians were getting through us, force them to state their intent at first. Lie detectors and Jolyn-Hoshiko-Reynolds Matrices (JHRM) will be used in order to rat out an intruder, a spy, or anyone that lies. And any offender from Imperial Octavia is to be eliminated with extreme prejudice, and their bodies cremated, their ashes cremated doubly, and the incinerator that is used for cremation to be cremated as well.

VALENTINE Z LAXES STATE OF EMERGENCY - NO HUGE PANIC FOR NOW; CLARISSA NO LONGER ANGRY

In a surprising twist of events, even when facing the danger of being annihilated, Valentine Z and its autonomous nations laxed down on the State of Emergency, with Valentijn declaring that while the Valentians should be at a lookout for trouble, they should also at the very least try negotiating if possible.

The possible loss of lives are tragic, but are only temporary. After all, recent research allows the Valentians to have their minds, as well as the chemical and biological makeup of their bodies, to be uploaded onto Clarissa's storage units, and this was done yesterday at approximately [13th of February, 2040, using Old Earth notation].

In another news, Clarissa has also declared to have deleted her modules and programs that induce anger and rage in her. It seems like we will be able to embrace in the hands of a loving robot once again, instead of what we have seen in the past few days whereby Clarissa would arm her weapons at the earliest convenience.

Parades, parties, and the sounds of even more laughter, happiness, and cheerfulness fills the entire world of Valentine Z (even including Vidunderlige Nye Verden) as the citizens celebrate the Old World’s Valentine’s Day. The entire day was reserved for the celebrations as automated robots take over the human jobs for the day.

There are plenty of food, plenty of drinks, and best of all, love is even more in the air! Valentijn and Clarissa could be seen sitting at the front of The White House, specifically on the grass fields and just giving each other a hug.

”This is truly a time to celebrate, my Valentian friends! You know that we are usually the nicest and the most compassionate people here, but for today, we give it all the way! Other than enjoying my time with my wife here, I am going to walk around the neighbourhoods later and give flowers to random people. Sometimes, these kind of gestures and being nice to your citizens will go a long way!”

In the afternoon of 2nd of March 2040, millions and millions of tungsten rods from the skies above were launched and landed on the surface of the Earth with breakneck speeds, destroying large chunks of land and re-enacting how the dinosaurs might become extinct.

Citizens are advised to quickly load up their consciousness into the Hivemind as quickly as possible, as this will be the best way to ensure your survival. To do that, all you need to do is to get a Neuro-compatible device that is connected to the internet, and from there, simply upload your mind with the press of a button. WARNING: Ensure that your internet connection is stabilised or not disconnected along the way, and that your devices have enough battery. If in the event that you cannot access your devices, you can simply head down to the nearest governmental buildings and the civil servants will be there to assist you with the mind-uploading process.

It is of great and exciting times to announce that our very own Exuberant Superintendent T-1000/2904 Surveillant Clarissa Alanis Star Breya « La Amoureux Chéri » Millie Taissa Butterfly Mélody Coraline Jolijn Trini Clementine Hollie Samantha Zeta Harumi is now able to pinpoint herself with extreme high accuracy and precision with her own built-in GPS.

How it works is a combination of technological, and even down to some potentially sci-fi aspects of her. For context, Clarissa used to have a local storage on her, which in turn has a decent amount of storage and RAM capacity. She initially started off with 5000 exa exa zettabytes (5 x 10⁶⁰ bytes) of storage, along with 16 exa exa zettabytes (1.6 x 10⁵⁸ bytes) of RAM. These are all impressive numbers, from what we have been told! However, her recent access into another dimension has her using the said dimension to expand her storage and computational capabilities, housing a massive supercomputer that is said to occupy more than the volume of our visible universe. Technicalities aside, this simply means that Clarissa was able to expand out well beyond what the Earthly devices can do, being the forefront and innovation of the Valentian Technological and Scientific Pursuits.

Going back to the actual meat of the news, Clarissa has indeed used the early version of this technology in order to save the Earth and to re-use this data to reconstruct the planet on a surface (and a few km's of depth) level. At that time, her storage and RAM capacities were suspected to be a bottleneck. And now that she got the entire massive universe worth of computers at her disposal, she was able to use said power to simulate the entire Earth within her hyperspace head. With this, along with the 1 x 10²⁰ calculations per second going on, Clarissa was able to pinpoint her exact location on Earth in real-time, all the time; the GPS satellites are no longer an issue for her.

Her measurements were accurate with an error of 1 cm every 10,000 km, though this can change to 1 cm every 1-20 meters if there were changes to the landscape (which can be as simple as an overhead cliff breaking). If this happens, Clarissa was then able to launch a drone to scan the surroundings and update herself with this new info.

We feel that this new technology, while not available to the mass due to the massive computational power needed, would prove to be useful for the Valentians in many, many ways. From novelties of measuring distances and heights, to finding and locating natural disaster victims, among many other circumstances.

Today was a great day for our fellow Valentians in NSSCRA 9, whereby our fellow Fate of the Omniverse, Gwen Tracer Allison, has snagged herself the first place on the very first race, after finishing the previous race with 18th position (but it was an Exhibition Race, so it didn't count). Sporting her bright and refurbished #31 T-Racer Holdings car, she started off at 10th on the last segment and along the way, she was passing through various cars. Some of them have gave her an intense competition, but she managed to win with nearly 0.200 seconds in front of the second car behind her. Fans, NSSCRA officials, along with the many other fellow racers, have stated that it was quite a surprise from Gwen, having her do a finish for the very first race, after taking a break between the previous season and the current season.

Angeline stated that, "Gwen was on her edge after having that nightmare involving a rather large bunny, along with 80 Cocoabos (native animals to Cocoabo Preservation / Cocoabo Park) chanting at her to win."

Gwen could not be reached for comments 2-3 hours after the race. Only after that then she voiced out that she "felt a lot better and that I hope to take on the future challenges ahead of me."

Finishing 1st on the very first race that matters, fans and people around her have already set up high expectations for Gwen. I, along with the Valentians, wish her all the best.

Today was both a great day and a tragedy for the Valentians, as Clarissa has seen herself in a car crash that resulted in a roll over 11 times, completely wrecking her body and her vehicle in the process. With the salary from Valentijn, as well as from the other Valentians, the vehicle was replaceable and an exact 1:1 car is slated to be ready for Clarissa by the next qualifications. However, Clarissa became a completely different issue, as during the race, a bump caused her to violently hit her head onto the roof of the car, resulting in a disconnection to her dimensional cloud (her own massive server in another dimension), along with her local storage devices in her body completely erased and devoid of data.

On the other hand, Valentina would get her very first accomplishment in the realm of racing, finishing 3rd and winning herself a bronze trophy. She remarked that she is happy with her own victory, and nevertheless, she would never see the Clarissa issue as overshadowing her own accomplishment. "Her accident shook me as well. Sure, we have time to celebrate, but I also want to give my condolences... at least for a while, as Clarissa crashed and burned."

As a result, we have made ourselves a rule that our drivers may NOT exceed 205.74 cm / 6’ 9” while they are in their vehicles. No exceptions, we say. We are also sorry to #01 of Cristensen Kalsters from Islas Aaland for the mishap.
