QUESTION: How is the population increasing so quickly?

Is human gestation vastly shortened?

Colonists thawing from frozen sleep?

Advanced Cloning Technology?

Newly arriving colonists?

Now that I think about it. I am going to lessen the pop increase to 250.

My app finally

Colony Name: Balka
Colony Leader: Yankul Momchilov Zhelyaskov
Sponsors: Greece, Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia
Claim: Arilia
Population: 5,000
Faction Pro/Con:
Pro: Industrious - Plus 3 minerals
Con: Overconfidence - One more month to research.
Background: The years leading up to the formation of the United Balkan League were turbulent, to say the least. With the trouble brewing nearby in the Middle East and with economic problems happening at home. The Balkan Peninsula started to band together under the already formed South-East European Cooperation Process. Giving more power and authority to SEECP, as other problems started to pop up such as immigration crisis that started in the 2050s for those fleeing the middle east due to the Iran-Saudi Arabia conflict. An increase of border control and military buildup for those closer to the troubled region. Along with sparing enough to afford to establish several outposts on Io.

Then came the Red Death which unlike some that managed to come out unscathed, the Balkans suffered the full effect of the plague. Quarantine procedures failed overnight and millions were infected. Martial law was put into full effect and the Balkans closed off their borders. After a cure was found and the plague was brought under control, did the borders open and the reformation was in works. The Balkan states after hardship and working together officially came together as the United Balkan Leauge. When news broke of the new interstellar drive and the Tiria system became public knowledge, the League moved to fund a colony and send their people to the system. Named the Argo, the League launched their colony ship and choose to land on the oceanic world of Arilia. Securing a new future for the League and for humankind.

Colony App

Colony Name: Odinochestvo, meaning "Solitude". Nicknamed "Little Sibir"

Colony Leader: Victor Aliyev

Sponsors: Pan-Eurasian SSR

Claim: Venera

Population: 1,600

Faction Pro/Con:

Pro: Soviet Science Initiative- Years ago our mission was sent deep into the darkness of space to find new wonders of the universe for the glory of the motherland. They wouldn't hear back from us for quite some time, but the men, women, and tools they sent to pioneer the great beyond have comed together to work wonders. We now stand poised on new discoveries to advance the human race unto new horizons! For the SSR!

Con: Bureaucratic inefficiencies: Turmoil back home on earth has left the colony in a state of limited aid. Funding was slashed early on, leaving the mission without a large portion of it's aid. As such much of the materials and energy needed to keep the station alive has had to be done by the workers on board- making life harder and work less efficient for the crew. Energy costs increased.

Background:

One of the earliest colonies established in the system, the lonely mission of the Pan-Eurasian SSR was created partially as a means to push science to lands far beyond humanity's reach, but also as a propaganda piece. The SSR was created via a confederation of former soviet block states wishing to defend itself from the reactionary threat that was the Trans-Siberian State, and the mass rise of the far left from fears and outcry over the reign of terror robber barons imposed on the working poor. Petty revolutions and elections soon swept those fringe states directly threatened by the monarchy's bloody rise to power, and Ukraine, the Baltics, Belorussia, and the Central Asian countries united into the power block of the Pan-Eurasian SSR. The rise of the Pan-Eurasian Block was not easy, and trailed with blood, as counter-revolutions, Private military contractors, and foreign powers saw fit to encroach upon the lands of the member nations, provoking conflicts which would claim the lives of thousands. These border conflicts fluctuated the warzone both north and south of SSR lands, as radicals and mercenaries alike were thrust into the forefront for the dwindling energy reserves of Siberia. It was only weapons of mass destruction which kept the two Russian successor states from initiating total war against each other, the missile silos were always kept on and alert in case of the first enemy strike.

Searching for some way to turn the tide, the SSR invested heavily in research and development, a large portion of which was directed at the concept of interplanetary space flight and orbital weapons, locking the region more in Mutual destruction should one make an overt move of invasion or airstrike. And so it was that on it's third (official) attempt, the crew of the first mission to this system was sent. Followed in short succession by researchers and technicians, they would establish a colony in this vast reach of prime territory, looking for science, not wealth. But, this could not stay forever, and the base soon found itself with many a neighbor, most closely, their own deepest rival.

Strakhov Initiative does research.

Research generously sold to all other colonies for reasonably exorbitant fees.

(Srsly tho, I didn’t see a research mechanic - so I made the bonus of the Initiative to be actually allowing them to improve their tech.)

Colony App
Colony Name: Esperia
Colony Leader: Lide Jackson
Sponsors: The Britannia Arms Corporation, the Yamabuki Corporation
Claim: Utaridi
Population: 5,000
Faction Pro/Con:
Pros: Britannia Forward! As a British backed colony with an arms manufacturer behind the colony, the colony's primarily British inhabitants allow for it to move forward under the unified banner for the glory of Britannia. This means that work is overall more efficient and coordinated, allowing for the colony to coordinate efforts properly in order to maximize manpower usage for the glory of Britannia. Connections to the Britannia arms corporation, a nationalized company, allows for it to also acquire parts for armaments more efficiently.

Cons: Bureaucracy of the Empire Due to the fact that the entire colony is nearly British, this means that work is usually sometimes hampered by excessive bureaucracy. This is more so for defensive projects as both corporations have installed such measures to prevent the colony from possibly conducting a massive build up against them. This level of bureaucracy does affect everything, even civil engineering projects. This adds on at least 1 month to all projects. This however has insignificant effect on supplies going in.
Background:
The first colony established following the massive boom of colonization by all states, the colony of Esperia was the result of the 'Black rainbow' initiative. This initiative focused on expanding the reach of Britannia, in order to secure more resources for herself and to expand her presence to the galactic scale. The colony was set up by the Britannia Arms Corporation, a military company under the government in conjunction with Japanese robotics manufacturer Yamabuki Corporation. Esperia was chosen as it allowed for the former to gain more minerals for weapons and ammunition while the latter enjoyed the new metals which advanced their research projects.

When the first colonists landed, it was disputed as to which company exactly laid claim. On one hand Britannia made the first human step. On the other Yamabuki made the ships. This spiralled into the 'Yamabuki-Britannia' civil conflict on the planet, where both sides began to fight against each other in order to claim the colony fully for their own company. At home, it was a war of diplomacy and economics as both Britain and Japan attempted to cool and settle the dispute while some tried to solve it simply by buying the other side out. It ultimately ended with Japan nationalizing the company. Following the conflict, the colony soon became the new crown jewel of Britannia and the rising star of Japan. With factories pumping out processed minerals and mining operations running deep, it is an understatement to say this was powering the economy for both sides to a major degree.

However, food issues have left some dissent among the colonists as both nations turn their focus to other planets.

Colony App

Colony Name: Aurora, the Republic of (for the polity as a whole; named after the planet claimed; see "Claim" section for details); Capital Administrative Region (for the first colony site)

Colony Leader: Sophie v. d. Rijn, Speaker of the Colonial Assembly

Sponsors: the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Luxembourg, Iceland, with technical assistance from the UEC Space Programme.

Claim: Lailiv, renamed Aurora, Latin for "Dawn," embodying the hopes for a new start embodied in this colonisation project and the common European heritage of the sponsors involved.

Population: 7,500 total colonists, allocated as follows: British Isles 3,000, Nordic Region 2,750, Continental Europe 1,750.

Faction Pro/Con: Adaptive automation: the Northern European states have a long history of high labour costs, which slowly pushed the industrial sector into a level of automation and computerisation matched only by a few other regions in the Solar System. As a result, the Republic of Aurora gains +15% to energy and mineral output, but suffers a -40% penalty to population growth.

Background: The Auroran Colonisation mission, and the North Sea Council of Nations that provided the financial support behind the project, are both improvised international entities, temporary co-operation born of convenience. Traditionally, the Nordic states have largely kept to themselves, with diplomatic connections lagging behind its excellent economic and social connectivity with the world, the Low Countries were tightly integrated into the European system, which led the various regional and international great projects involving these nations, while the United Kingdom, still holding on to some illusion of global relevance or great power status, preferred to distance itself from Europe in favour of its imperial identity vis-a-vis the Commonwealth.

As some of the densest-populated regions in the world, England and the Low Countries suffered devastating losses when the Red Plague swept through the great cities and developed towns of the region. Local and regional governments of these areas became deeply unpopular overnight, due to the mishandling - real or perceived - of the global crisis created by the Plague. As the interstellar colonisation scheme encouraged by the UEC grew in popularity, these governments enthusiastically began pursuing several such schemes to generate positive public relations and hopefully quell dissent. Concluding the energy and mineral resources of the North Sea as vital, and not terribly inclined to share these resources with those regional governments outside its immediate geographical neighbourhood, the British Isles and the Low Countries arrived at a tentative agreement to sponsor a colony ship between themselves.

Unambiguous naval control of the maritime resources in the North and Norwegian Seas -- and access to the clathrate under the Arctic ice caps -- required the collaboration of a third power, the Scandinavian states. Disheartened at the strong loss in natural resource prices following the near-collapse of the global economy after the Red Plague, and with access to an abundance of energy due to the same loss in natural resource prices, the Scandinavian states were at the time pushing major public works projects as a form of expansionary economic policy, and were therefore themselves inclined favourably to support the UEC initiative for the colonisation of the Tiria Endeavor. Thus, when the Anglo-Dutch cabal approached the Nordic Council for their support of the project, the Council enthusiastically agreed in exchange for a fairly large share of the allotment of colonists and various economic concessions.

And so was formed the Auroran Colonisation Mission.

Higher Japan, I'm not sure that interstellar trade is going to be part of the game. The colonies are supposedly "on their own". Maybe just military projects are completed faster and civilian projects run into 'red tape'?
