Tiria Endeavor

Image

Humanity's first venture into the stars started in 2042 when the first colony was established on the Moon. From there under the United Earth Coalition, humans spread themselves all over the solar system. To the sun-basked Mercury to the outskirts of Pluto. The whole solar system was united, and things were looking well. Everything changed in 2099 when a plague started to infest the solar system. Starting on Mars, the plague called the Red Death spread quickly throughout the system, and the death toll was in the millions. A cure was found, and the plague was brought under control. Though not before it left the system severely depopulated and left the United Earth Colation in shambles. Realizing how close humanity came to becoming extinct. A plan was put into action to expand humanity's reach beyond Sol, To ensure that can humanity can survive even if Sol is wiped out and in 2124, the Sako-Ossian interstellar drive was created. Now with the ability to traverse the stars, colony ships were created with nations working together to fund these ships. After scanning the stars for the best colonization targets, one system came up for the best location for colonization and a rather odd one. For this system named the Tiria system has not one but, multiple habitable planets and moons. Unsure the reason for the high amount of life-bearing worlds but, not willing to squander this opportunity. The first colony ships set their course for the Tiria system hoping for a bright future and to hopefully overcome any obstacle. For once they leave and make the jump to Tiria, they will be on their own, and no one on Earth can help them survive or stop them if the colonies turn on each other. What fate the colonists have in the Tiria system is solely up to them.

Rules:
Respect the Op and the CO-OPS
No Godmodding.
No One Liners, Minimum is one paragraph
No metagaming.
No raging/flaming.
No spamming in the IC or the OOC either one.
No Op factions
Have Fun.

Co-ops:Saxony-Brandenburg

Overview:

The rp is set in 2135, one year after landfall of the Tiria system. Currently, the system till lies vastly unexplored. Each colony has a sponsor that created and later launched a colony ship. Two nations minimum are required, and even corporations can sponsor their own colony ship. Just do not take up much of the Earth's nations while making your sponsor if you go the non-corporate route. Each player can claim a single planet, and with Gas Giants, players can claim a single habitable moon as their own. Also if you want, once you claim a planet or moon you get the option of renaming it desire. Just be clear on what planet you are renaming in your app. Every colony had a pro and con, think it as a strength and a weakness. Along with the planets, everyone has a pro and con that affects how living on the planet/moon is going to be with your colony.

Every so often there will be an event will affect a single planet or multiple planets/moons. Depending on the event it can be ignored or needs to be dealt with very soon. These events will either be single one-offs or could be you could start an event chain that depending on how you react to it, you could get something good out of it or maybe make something worse. Each colony starts with one bonus and one con that affects the colony throughout the rp. It has to make sense or at least reasonable for your colony. Nothing too major and if you need help then telegram me or any of the co-ops for help. Along with that, each colony has limited terraforming equipment to help them survive in Tiria. Just no major terraforming that changes a planet/moon's biome.

Mechanics

Basics
Everyone starts out with a 1 Settlement, 2 Farms, 1 Cold Fusion Reactor, 1 Mining Complex, 2 Guardsmen and 1 Exploration team. The rp takes turns with each player's first post a turn. Once every one or most have posted, the new turn will start. Not every turn has an event to them, so paid attention when an event goes happens. While everyone starts on a single world. You do not fully own it and can expand your hold over your world. You can send your colonists to found a new settlement on your world. As long you can afford the cost and while your colony grows, food is needed to keep your people alive. For every 1k pop equals one food. So remember to not overexpand yourself and leave your colonists starving. Starving colonists will make your colony suffer income penalties till the food situation is resolved.

Research Once a colony builts a research building, they can start researching new technologies that help them survive on their worlds. Simply sent the idea me or my co-op to approved it and a time will be given based on the tech you wish to research, on how long it will take.

Exploration
Every colony has the opportunity to explore their world and find additional resources or even a new technology if you are lucky enough. Just build an exploration team and sent them out to explore the world. You can only have one exploration team out exploring at a time and take about a month to complete their ventures. Along with being used to find a new region to found a new settlement.

Regions:
Each world had regions in it that will be revealed as you send out exploration teams. Regions have a bonus on them that can be gain by settling on it. Some regions have a special bonus to them, some are good while some are.... not so good. Also can start events that depending on how you react to them, can give your colony and permanent buff, just set you back some or nothing. It depends on what choice you make.

Settlements:
Each settlement including your starting settlement has a limited amount of buildings that can be built in it. In order to build more buildings, you must expand and build a settler and sent them to a region that you have already found. Each colony can expand four times on their chosen world. Every settlement has a cap of 10,000 population and generally gain 250 pop per turn. Events/ discoveries could speed up the population or make it go down.

I take it the mechanics are still very much a work-in-progress? They seem very incomplete and largely lacking in explanation.

Reserve Lailiv, please.

Colony App

Colony Leader: Sophie v. d. Rijn, Speaker of the Colonial Assembly

Sponsors: the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Luxembourg, Iceland, with technical assistance from the UEC Space Programme.

Claim: Lailiv, renamed Aurora, Latin for "Dawn," embodying the hopes for a new start embodied in this colonisation project and the common European heritage of the sponsored involved.

Population: 7,500 total colonists, allocated as follows: British Isles 3,000, Nordic Region 2,600, Continental Europe 1,600, Baltic Region 300.

Background:
Castrio company was a business founded just before the start of the Red Death plague, producing machines and robots of all kinds, seeing the dire state of humanity the company created a new segment of itself focused on space, eventually after garnering enough resources, the company funded an expedition to Seyama and colonization of said planet, although one of last to arrive in Tiria, company's Ceo's have high hopes, successful landing was made documenting first-ever close-ups on the Titanic beings inhabiting the planets, no of the colonists thought that those creatures where going to be a setback for the colony, for now.

Hello. please reserve Marsas.
Also, can you give me an idea of the turn? I think I have a notion, but if I've done something wrong, please let me know.

Marsas (Alpinae), a moon of Zeathea. –

Colony App

Colony Name:
Alpinae

Colony Leader: S.A.I.G.E. (Superior Artificial Intelligence Global Executive), with Chief Implementation Officer Alicia Green.
Sponsors: The HAL Corporation
Claim: Marsas (Renamed “Alpinae”)
Population: 2,500
Planet-Moon Pro/Con: Pro: Unique crystals - plus 2 energy. Con: Mountainous - minus 3 food.
Faction Pro/Con: Pro - Efficient Teamwork (one less month needed to build one multi-month defense or unit). Con - Overly Methodical (extra month needed for research).

Background:
The colonization of the planet Marsas was sponsored by The HAL Corporation. The sponsors created the SAIGE computer to provide continual guidance to the colony in the event of accidents that resulted in the corporate officer being unable to discharge their duty. The task of relaying the optimum orders to the colonists is given to the Chief Implementation Officer and the first CIO of the Marsas Settlements, Alicia Green.

CIO Green is intelligent, well educated and has excellent communication skills. She views her job as making minute adjustments to SAIGE’s directives, if necessary. The CIO practices Bao Quan (leopard style kung fu), meditation and the viola.

In the selection of colonist candidates, The HAL Corporation put a high emphasis on candidates that were logical, methodical, and could put aside their egos to work (and endure hardship) as a team.

The HAL Corporation’s colony ship, Arca arrived at Marsas with 2.5K trained colonists, plus materials and sufficient food stores to establish it's Colony One Settlement. The name for the new world, "Marsas", did not engender feelings of a "home" among the new settlers and they petitioned the HAL Corporation to consider a new name for the world. SAIGE was consulted and it concluded that a new name for the planet would be good for the morale of the settlers. SAIGE chose the name, "Alpinae", telling the settlers that it was an apt name in describing their beautiful new world. This was well accepted.

Currently, SAIGE and CIO Green have begun expansion projects in the first settlement.

Colony Application

Colony Name: The Strakhov Initiative
Colony Leader: Gregori Asmodev
Sponsors: Strakhov-Mikhael Industrial Conglomerate
Claim: Ziemia - Crystal World [Named Melody by the Initiative surveyors]
Population: 2200 souls
Faction Pro/Con:
Megastructure Architects - In the many harsh places the Initiative has dealt with in the past, mining asteroids beyond Mars, extracting tungsten from the Siberian wastes, the brilliant engineers, industrialists, and scientists of Strakhov-Mikhael have never been found wanting where ingenuity was needed for progress. The Initiative knows how to exploit a situation to its fullest, and may construct an additional 25% of any type of Infrastructure, rounded up.
Overengineered Precautions - Perhaps in part of the value that the Initiative places on her skilled workers, most of the machines, facilities, and vehicles of the Initiative are designed with multiple backups and failsafes, body cages that can survive unexpected conditions and preserve life in even improbably circumstances. Due to this caution, Initiative ground units take +2 energy to manufacture.
Background: The Initiative is the brainchild of Rurik Strakhov, the oligarch and corporate magnate who, along with his partner, Vlasilov Mikhael, formed the powerhouse of the Trans-Siberian State, Strakhov-Mikhael Industrial, or simply, the Conglomerate. Founded in late 2010 by Strakhov, the son of a Russian general accused of enriching himself by selling off old Soviet armaments to the multiple warrior factions in sub-Saharan Africa, the newly christened Strakhov Group flourished in the 2020s and 2030s as it stood at the forefront of asteroid mining, colonization efforts on the hydrocarbon rich Titan, and the opening up of the warming Siberian interior. The megacities of the Group formed some of the brightest points of civilization in the wake of the Energy Wars of 2035, independent of Russian Reformed Empire interference due to provisions of the Pact of the White imposed by the Group and other corporate entities following the Restoration.

Riding the tides of interstellar travel, the Group merged with InCom Capital, commanded by Vlasilov Mikhael, in 2057, and soon expanded its corporate holdings to the stars, where unrestricted science and vast profits became the watchwords associated with the Conglomerate. The joke was that if you needed money to do something illegal but profitable, you went to InCom, but if you needed something done that was both illegal and impossible, you went to the Conglomerate. Though reformed by Rurik's son, Vladimir, in the border skirmishes on Mars during the 2070s, the Conglomerate has never fully shaken her image as a ruthlessly amoral industrial entity, a stigma the Initiative carries even despite her more nobly stated charter.

The megacities of the Trans-Siberian State, federated in the wake of the White Tsar's death to the Martian Flux in 2101, rode the waves of the Red Death in relative comfort. Perhaps, in part, due to the willingness of the Conglomerate to turn orbital weaponry against infected carvans coming out of Democratic Manchuko, which discouraged mass migration to the north even in the disastrous times of the Red Year. Tribunals after the fact conducted by the UEC cleared the Conglomerate of all wrongdoing on the basis of the preservation of her populace, but the thousands of deaths that resulted from the Sterilization of Nomysnsk are still a black mark on the history of the Conglomerate and Strakhov-Mikhael.

A black mark the Conglomerate hoped to expunge with the founding of the Initiative. Formally inaugurated by Vladimir Strakhov in memory of his father's dreams of space travel for the human race, the Initiative was at the forefront of the quest for superluminal travel, and indeed the prominent scientist Marya Ossia gave her name to the drive eventually synthesized from her work at the laboratories in orbit at Novo Petrograd. Now determined to not fall behind in the grave task of casting a light for humanity into the future, the Initiative's own colony ship has been launched for the strange but fascinating world of Melody in the Tirian Expanse, and will be a beacon of progress and order for the future.

So, if there are no native Sandworms, then you'll engineer some?

Colony Name: duteri al-thania ladoua (The second kingdom of light), Arabic: المملكة الثانية من الضوء, Persian: پادشاهی دوم نور
Colony Leader: Saoshyant Cyrus the second of house Alcamacid
Sponsors: Iran, India, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria and Turkey
Claim: Bahiri which has been renamed to asha which is the Zoroastrian concept of truth, the planet was renamed this in order to honour how Asha is a chance for Mankind to wipe away the culture of lies and corruption that it had so valued.
Population:(10,000 Max) 4,500
Faction Pro/Con: The Truth of Zoroaster The culture of the Asha colony puts an emphasis an truth and faith which in the Zoroastrian faith are practically inseparable this makes corruption and disloyalty in the colony practically impossible as every citizen has been trained from birth to defend against the lie however this hyper religious society has lead to a definite stagnation in the culture of Asha as anyone who challenges the current state of affairs is branded as a heretic In summery: + public order, - scientific advancement
Background: The 21st century had not been kind to the middle; civil unrest, foreign interference, economic stagnation and international hostility were merely the first events of the 21st century that greeted them yet that was only the tip of the iceberg. Leading up to the 21st century an intense rivalry had been formed between the two major powers of the middle east: Iran and Saudi Arabia, two nations that had come to blows many times throughout the history of the region and now with the weapons of the 21st century being more destructive then anything seen before their next battle looked to be the most devastating. And indeed the two powers did not disappoint, by 2053 the two nations had built up a formidable arsenal of chemical, biological and nuclear weapons, and with the world's oil reserves drying up conflict seemed inevitable. In the year 2054 a small border skirmish between Iran and Arabia lead to full blown war that had grown so brutal that practically every weapons in the foes arsenals had been used up, and by 2056 the war had ended both nations had collapsed and had been thrown into absolute chaos. The UN stepped in and created the UN mandate for the Middle East, an authority that would restore order and help to reconstruct the region.

The people of the Arabia and Iran had been through an array of horrors throughout their war and the chaos that has spread threw their region was unimaginable, this had lead to warlords, kings and an massive amount of prophets emerging even under the control of the UN mandate, yet one stood out above the rest. Abdullah al-Ḥaẓrad was a preacher advocating for the return of the Zoroastrian faith to the middle east, with the backing of the Zoroastrian communities throughout Iran and the power of his Prosthelytizing, the Zoroastrian faith managed to make a tremendous comeback across the middle east. This was helped when the red plague passed across the globe leaving many millions dead, yet the middle east remained relatively untouched with many people now believing that it was Ahua Mazda who had saved them from the horrific disease. The disease had also lead to the collapse of the UN mandate leading to the once defunct nations of the middle east to reform themselves, upon seeing the world developing to craft to fly to the stars and began developing their own to send Zoratrianisim to the stars.

The ship launched with hopes of bringing the culture of the middle East yet half way through it's voyage a group of religious extremists headed by the ship's security officer who had renamed himself Cyrus the second of house Alcamacid took control of the ship and declared a new age of truth and light. Cyrus the second then declared himself to be the Saoshyant, the Zoroastrian messiah, and laid down the foundation for a new hyper religious state to spread it's wings across the Tiria.
