Only a nation of the WA Elite would attempt something like this; everyone other member nation would be ridiculed to the point of resignation.

This resolution, it seems, was concocted between the WA Elite. Wallenburger's repeal to this resolution is even more laughable: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=457850&start=25

EDIT: Further evidence, it would seem, that the length of this resolution is of some importance to I.A.: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=457896

But the only people who are laughing are, of course, the WA Elite. The arrogance is astounding.

You ranting about THE WA ELITE comes off like an alt-right proponent going on about “globalists.” You’re making up conspiracies to feed your own persecution complex.

"Ranting about the WA Elite didnt work for Bitely, it sure wont work for you."

Bitely was before us, we're not informed enough to make comment on them. What surprises me, though, is that you continue to ignore the obvious. A lot of member nations are dissatisfied with the current state of the World Assembly. You would be wiser, as a member nation of the General Secretariat, to investigate this instead of giggling about how much this resolution will piss people off.

This whole conversation is off topic. If you wish for additional clarity, I suggest posting in the GA Q&A thread.

The Principality of Elyreia will be drafting a proposal to repeal this atrocity of legislation if it passes. It does not take into account the various member states in the World Assembly, including those that do not have voting rights to begin with. Nor does it account for any oversight, nor any guarantees for implementation. Likewise, it does not include any limits to this (what if the felon is in debt due to payments made for committing another crime. Does this legislation override their other crimes?).

We have already begun working on a draft proposal to submit.

A woman sat down with an unimpressed frown. One of her eyes was covered by an eyepatch, several tally-mark scars covering her arms and a small number present on her cheek. This was Tokiko Suou, Intermittent Head of Diplomacy, representing Kyoki Chudoku’s limited interests in the World Assembly.

“This resolution doesn’t affect us, as we don’t have voting.” Her voice gave an impression of exhaustion and apathy. “This proposal is a simple one. We don’t see any reason to vote for or against it, but since it’s supposed to further democracy, the Supreme Ultimate Country is opposed. If the proposal can be simple, so can our reason for opposing it.”
This nation exists for fun and insanity, not to represent my actual views which are much more mundane and boring.

OOC: Hang on, wasn't Joco's lot complaining that IA's resolutions were overly long, complex and full of indecipherable terminology? Now he writes something so straightforward that the only way to simplify it would be to turn it into a Spot The Dog kid's book and you're complaining about brevity?

It's simple and short because it doesn't need to be complex and long.
As an editor I seam to spend an awful lot of thyme going threw issues and checking that they're no oblivious errars. Its a tough job but someone's got too do it!

OOC: For. In the wake of PtEoI, which was written to be deliberately misleading, and Preventing Financial Crises, which is written entirely in financialese, Imperium Anglorum has finally done the sensible thing and cut down massively on word count and indecipherable jargon. Kudos to him.

IC: In our humble opinion, dictatorships and absolute monarchies have no place in the WA. If they don't like it, they can leave.

We really don't pass short resolutions anymore.

The shortest resolution passed since 2008 was at least 5 lines. You really can't pass a one sentence resolution in 2019.

No, we are not a nation of cat people. We're all humans (and a few annoying gnomes) here. The cat's just there because our king is such a genius, he saw that it would be a good military strategy to have a distractingly cute flag, to blind our enemies to (our) victory!
Technological level: FUTURE TECH. We also have MAGICAL TECH, and a lot of the people here still play with MEDIEVAL TECH and PRESENT TECH. We're cool that way.

What the hell did IA do to anger you so badly? Piss in your cornflakes?

I don't see the need for this resolution to be longer. It seeks to stop governments using debt as a reason to revoke the right to vote, and does so very concisely. It could be longer and more full of terminology, but it doesn't have to be. Isn't that more or less exactly what you wanted?

So I've read the FAQs, the repeal drafts. People complaining about interpretive maladies doesn't make any sense: the text is self-evident. People complaining about enforcement mechanisms are morons, because no other WA resolution has one (except GAR#2, briefly, and the compliance mechanisms that IA himself created).

EDIT: I see these histrionics about loopholes. But nobody can tell me where they in fact are. Instead, they just scream loopholes like a broken record.

Newsflash, this is absolutely a case of one trying to pass a resolution for the sake of it. You might only get one literal badge, but you can still flaunt your verbal badges - as you did, Wallenburg, when you declared "[I.A.'s] already passed 24 General Assembly resolutions[!]"

And go on, tell me truthfully that you believe this resolution would have garnered half the support that it has if it were written by a nation who had authored NO resolutions, was NOT Europe's WA Delegate and did NOT have the reputation and contacts I.A. does.

OOC: I have to agree; had I put this proposal forward with the exact same text I would have been at best encouraged to seek advice on how to redraft, and at worst, laughed out of the GA.

This just goes to show you that a nation's name and prestige is all that matters in the WA these days. This trash of a proposal is going to get passed just because IA is the one who wrote it.

Had it been anyone else outside of the WA elite who wrote something like this, they would have been seen as an idiot.

Oh, good. Perhaps I should make a one-liner proposal, then. Even though basically no one else here knows me, perhaps it'll pass if it's coherent and legal.

I wonder...

Yeah, right. As if that'll ever happen. But who knows, one can try!

Anyway, rant over. Back to the topic at hand, please.
