Rams over Cowgirls- No way the cowpies are beatin'Goff.
Chargers over Pats- New England is not the unstoppable force of old. And Rivers is playing like he's 10 years younger.
Saints over Eagles- Big Dick Nick barely squeaked by the Bears. Cool Brees is gonna light them up.

I'm starting to think the Chargers intentionally lost to the Ravens in the regular season because Pittsburgh in the playoffs tends to be his doom.

Edit to avoid double post: You gotta wonder. If Monte Kiffin had a shred of ambition he would have made a good-enough long term headcoach of a team. Instead he followed his son around and now is an ASSISTANT AT FLORIDA ATLANTIC. Bless him and massive points for being one of those fathers who enjoys spending time with his kids even after they grew up but jeez just imagine. He was DC in Dallas for a year, sadly it was back when Dallas had no D and no brains meaning he got demoted. You need good linebackers with the Tampa 2 which Dallas had none of.

Picks for divisional games are underlined.

Colts @ Chiefs
Cowboys @ Rams
Chargers @ Patriots
Eagles @ Saints

Incidentally, today January 12th happens to be the 50th anniversary of the 2nd most infamous day in Colts history.
In SB III at Miami in the Orange Bowl, the Colts lost to the NY Jets 16-7. They had been favored to win this game from between 17-19 points.

To this day, some people in MD still think QB Earl Morrall & Don Shula (who both went off to the Dolphins about a year later) threw this game. The Jets win legitimized the AFL teams which would join the NFL a year later.

Ironically for Baltimore, Shula was born near Cleveland, played college ball in Cleveland and was originally a D-back for the Cleveland Brown before being involved in a massive 15 player trade with the newly born Baltimore Colts in 1953. Don Shula coached the Colts in 2 NFL championship games both shutouts at Cleveland. Losing 27-0 in 1964, then winning the 1968 game 34-0 which preceded the SB III disaster. Crazy stuff. You just can't make this stuff up.

Aw shit, the colt's secondary is getting torn apart like a horse going to the glue factory, the D-line is a flatline, and the offense has figured out how to punt and not much else.

I actually remember having read somewhere most recently that some opinionated analyst somewhere has the sixth seeds in each conference gaining victories over their prospective opponents and making it to the Super Bowl. That's... in my mind at least, a laughable potential outcome at best. As in, there is no way I see the Philidelphia Eagles making it back to back years (even with Carson Wentz out and Nick Foles in a starting role...again); nor do I foresee the Indianapolis Colts beating out my Kansas City Chiefs.

Nonetheless, this is an otherwise entertaining thought at the probability in the outcome of this week's games. All told, the Colts from the AFC versus the Eagles from the NFC would make a lacklustre Super Bowl matchup, in my opinion. That being said, I do imagine that the New Orleans Saints will go the distance and see themselves in another championship appearance with Drew Brees at the helm of their offence.

When I think about it, it seems as though the Saints have the most real possibility of attaining another Super Bowl championship win and trophy because they seem to be the ones with all the weapons. Yes, if you had asked me four or so weeks ago the same question I probably would have vouched for the Los Angeles Rams being the NFC's best Super Bowl hopeful contenders. But, I think that's since changed when you consider that Drew Brees is putting on arguably his best season at such a grizzled age that comes with being a veteran.

That team, the Saints, they have all the tools necessary to secure this: Brees' favourite target in Michael Thomas (who's having a phenomenal season by the way), Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram (who does need to produce more since he was set back this year by his now-elapsed suspension), etc. Again, the Rams make good opponents since they have Todd Gurley II, Robert Woods, Brandin Cooks, etc. and they're all playing with Jarad Goff under centre; but I'm still not thoroughly convinced it'll offset the star-powered offense of the Saints even when their tenacious defense sporting guys like Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh is factored into the mix.

Out of the AFC, you'll get quality matchups - I'd think anyway. The Chiefs will be tested by the Patriots in the conference championship if you go by what I'm saying because I think that Belichick (especially when it comes to crunch time in the playoffs) will find some way to work with Brady and co. to stop Phillip Rivers in his quest for a ring. Thus, in my prediction, the second seed prevails and the Los Angeles Chargers are sent packing.

Supporting reasoning I have for this is that the NFL won't want an AFC championship game to be played in the soccer stadium that the Chargers currently call home, and if they were to pull off an upset over the AFC's second seed in the Patriots then this would be the case. So, instead what'll probably happen is that the refs will resort to giving the Patriots even more favourable calls then what they usually would. That's already been a noticeable advantage for New England in past years, some conspiracy theorists and even casually observing fans would cite, but a likely outcome since the NFL is keen on protecting Brady's image as he plays out the next five or so years of his career.

In conclusion, my picks are: Chiefs over Colts, Patriots over Chargers, Rams over Cowboys (to get to a Saints and Rams NFC championship game whereas I talked about earlier the Saints will theoretically win), and Saints over Eagles. As I write this, the Chiefs are already up over the colts 24-7 at halftime, so looks like things are good in Kansas City.

I definitely wouldn’t say this is Brees’s best season by any stretch. Very nice TD-INT ratio, and he’d have kept up the tear he was on early in the season, it could have been, but when you’ve got a guy who’s tossed for over 5,000 as many times as he has, that’s just not fair to say.
